Solid pine or chipboard. Kitchens made of solid wood or MDF: pros and cons

Repairs in life put everything in its place. Can be done 500 times
argue, disagree for several months, but then
make the perfect room. A similar story happened in 2014, when
I had to make a kitchen not only for myself, but also for my parents. If there is one on the Internet
several million sites where you can
look at the kitchen projects, I assure you, they have all been reviewed. In the end, everything
naturally they quarreled, made up and
finally made kitchens that everyone liked. That's why I was born
idea to write small material about how to choose a kitchen, not from the outside
the seller, but on the part of the customer. After all, it is first of all important for us to get a beautiful
furniture at an affordable price that would last for decades. It is with
These requirements began our analysis of the choice of material for the future kitchen.

What's the first thing that comes to mind?

Even before going to the specialists, no one thought about the components.
This is a separate conversation, but I will say frankly that all kitchens were ordered
the most expensive ones available. You should never skimp on this. But now,
when you open the drawers or lift the doors, you get an indescribable
pleasure. But this is now. The first problem we had to face was
it certainly was the material. In the pictures the kitchens look completely different.
It's not even worth looking at. Only after the first two weeks it became clear that everything
Pictures can be used as ideas, but nothing more.

The modern construction market offers too wide
choice of materials and colors. Which on the one hand is good, but on the other hand is
makes the choice significantly more difficult.

To deal with all the materials, I had to carefully
select the pros and cons.

Painted MDF. (enamel-coated facades)

It seemed that everyone with whom I had to communicate seemed to
agreed. One of them offered to buy a kitchen made of painted MDF.
Indeed, the color palette there is crazy. You can combine colors for a day,
to find the perfect solution, but in the end the kitchen will still look
too simple, unless you invest a lot of money in such a kitchen so that
for example, making smooth curves, concave and convex drawers. In such
case, the kitchen will indeed be very attractive, purely because of its
unusual shape.

To better understand what it is painted MDF, enough
look at any car. MDF painting technology, practically nothing
different from painting a regular car. Initially, the facade is primed, and
then several layers of paint are applied to it. The number of layers directly indicates the quality
material. It's just like with cars. Most
The last stage is the application of a protective layer - varnish.

Advantages of painted MDF

- There are a lot of colors that can be combined between
yourself, as you please. Most often they will offer colors according to the RAL catalog. (color fan)

- Enough
easy to clean

- I have an opportunity
make a unique façade shape for the kitchen. Technology allows you to bend and
round off the façade.

— Resistant to moisture and odors

- Lots of coverings. You can choose matte or glossy,
chameleon or mother-of-pearl, or even go with metallic.

Disadvantages of painted MDF

— They do not fall into the budget segment. They are more expensive than plastic and
than facades covered with PVC film.

- The most a big problem- fingerprints. The kitchen is always
you will have to wipe and wipe. Otherwise, she will look very unsightly.

- Subject to fading. Over time, all colors lose their
color.

— Another significant disadvantage is that they are susceptible to damage.
They may not withstand an accidental blow and may crack.

— The back side of such kitchens is usually white. With time
it also loses its presentation, especially if you constantly forget
wash the façade from the back.

Solid wood facades.

This material was offered the least often. Firstly on
manufacturing a façade from solid wood takes almost twice as long,
than any other material for the kitchen. But the simplest excuse, which
I noticed that this is not in fashion now. Here's plastic and painted MDF - it's fashionable and
stylish. In the end, we did not settle on the array, since the kitchen is only 9 sq.m. And
an array there would really look too bulky.

Solid wood facades come in two types - solid wood
(very expensive facades) and with panels (solid frame, and inner part from
MDF). The second option is much cheaper. It is somewhere more expensive than painted MDF
by 20-30%. Also, facades with panels have an undeniable advantage - with
over time, such facades do not deform, unlike facades made of solid
wood.

Advantages of solid wood facades

— 100% natural eco-friendly material

- Presentable appearance in any case. The personification of good
taste and commitment to the classics.

- Durable material if you care for it properly. Will last
more than one decade.

— It is possible to decorate kitchens with various decorative elements
elements.

Disadvantages of solid wood facades

- Picky about care. If you don't take care of it, the kitchen will
the array will not last very long

— The most expensive material in existence. Especially if
order a kitchen made from rare wood species.

— Do not wash with strong household chemicals.

- They may fade over time.

— You can’t make a rounded façade.

- Can absorb moisture and odors.

- Not big choice models and sizes.

MDF facades covered with PVC film.

One of the simplest and inexpensive materials for the kitchen, but
having a number of disadvantages. The first thing that catches your eye when you see this
the kitchen has a slightly old-fashioned look. First of all, naturally too
A drawing that does not provide texture is cheap. Overall, this material is optimal.
either for the most budget kitchen option, or for a temporary one.

The production technology of such facades is very simple. MDF is laminated
PVC film in a special press. Glue is first applied to the MDF, from
on which a lot depends on the future. How better glue, the longer your kitchen will have a presentable appearance.

pros MDF facades, covered with PVC film.

- Very affordable price.

- You can use aggressive household chemicals

— Large selection of textures and colors

— You can make custom cabinets and drawers, while
the price of the kitchen will not increase much.

— They will not appear on the façade for a long period of time
frayed.

Disadvantages of MDF facades covered with PVC film.

— The film may peel off from MDF over time, especially
near the sink or oven.

— The wood pattern makes the kitchen look too cheap.

- It fades over time.

- The back side is most often white. Over time they may
becomes pale yellow.

Facades covered with plastic

Among the people, this type of facade has taken root under the name
"plastic facades" Although this is a little incorrect. There are no 100% plastic kitchens.
They would not withstand the temperature changes that exist in the kitchen and are very
would quickly become unsightly. Today there are two technologies,
creating facades covered with plastic. The first is when plastic is glued onto MDF
(more expensive due to the MDF itself). The second is when plastic is glued to chipboard
(cheaper option).

There are also several methods for processing ends:

1.
Postforming. With this technology, plastic
bends at two ends. The remaining two ends are edged with PVC or acrylic
edge (3D Acryl)

2.
Facades can be framed with aluminum
profile.

3.
The ends are simply processed in the color of acrylic
edge (3D Acryl) or
PVC. If desired, you can make the ends a different color than the panel itself.

Advantages of facades covered with plastic.

- Do not allow moisture to pass through.

— They practically do not fade in the sun.

— They have a fairly large color palette.

— Don’t be afraid of aggressive household chemicals.

— Long service life

Disadvantages of facades covered with plastic.

— Fingerprints remain on such facades, which
Externally they really spoil the look of the kitchen.

— Matte plastic is very difficult to clean. Over time, maybe
lose its presentation.

— May have geometric distortions if there were
made by cold pressing.

- The back side is most often white.

One of the most interesting materials, which allows
make the kitchen more interesting, but at the same time keep it in a fairly budget
categories. Of course, frame facades have a number of their own disadvantages, but they
their texture, style and appearance are close to the array.

Framed MDF facades can be easily combined with
glass, mirrors, rattan and other materials. Moreover, all these elements
fits very nicely into the frame.

Advantages of frame MDF.

— Budget material for the kitchen.

— You can make almost any size of the facade, without
significant increase in price.

— The façade is much lighter than a similar façade made of solid wood, but
at the same time, the style is very close to the facade made of solid wood.

— You can easily insert various elements into the facade frame.

— Allows you to combine several materials in one façade.

Disadvantages of frame MDF.

- They are afraid of moisture. Over time, the PVC film may peel off from
MDF if the kitchen is constantly damp.

— May not withstand high temperatures near the oven
cabinet and peel off.

- You need to make an effort when washing.

— Depending on the company and the equipment, you can get
poorly fastened frames.

— Seam connection
profile. Good quality the use of quality materials is achieved,
which are difficult to verify.

Laminated chipboard.

The simplest and cheapest facade. Facades made of laminated chipboard
look too simple and are most often used for kitchens in household
premises. Laminated chipboard is used in conventional kitchens to make
cabinet frames. This inner material, which is not publicly displayed

Advantages of a kitchen made of laminated chipboard

- Very, very low price.

— You can make facades of any size.

Disadvantages of a kitchen made of laminated chipboard

- Looks very cheap

— Short service life. Best used as
temporary kitchen.

- Absorbs moisture.

- May become loose

— The film may come off.

— Over time, stains of grease, sauce and

Advantages of aluminum profile facades.

— Maximum service life that can be achieved
using an aluminum frame around the facade.

- Resistant to moisture and high temperature.

— It is possible to combine MDF and glass in one façade or
rattan and glass.

— Resistant to high temperatures

— You can create frames with photos

Disadvantages of aluminum profile facades.

— After a few years, the aluminum will begin to darken a little

— So far, the cost of such facades is an order of magnitude higher than from
other materials.

— Aluminum scratches easily. Over time he may

despite a number of disadvantages, it was decided to choose frame MDF not with oblique joints, but
with straight lines. This helped make a small kitchen with nice textured
transitions without spending too much money.

There are objectively many requirements for the kitchen façade. It must be resistant to temperature changes and steam, easy to care for and, of course, attractive in appearance. Especially if you cook often or have an open plan where the kitchen is always visible. To understand the materials and understand what to expect from different facades, from traditional solid wood to modern plastic, HomeGuide turned to Elena Plotnikova, head of the Atlas Lux Krasnodar kitchen studios.

If we talk about the basis for the kitchen facade, the most economical option is laminated chipboard. New generation coatings - like TSS, for example, make it more durable and expressive enough to be used on modern kitchen. MDF facades are more expensive, but affordable. They are more environmentally friendly than laminated chipboard and more practical than solid wood, and besides, they have incomparably more color and texture combinations. In addition to being a 100% natural, eco-friendly material, solid wood also has a number of issues: over time, it can dry out and become deformed. Suffice it to say that factories that provide more than five years of warranty on their product, with an array of pure form does not work.

How to choose a kitchen façade?

  • First, decide on the style: a kitchen made of solid wood or with facades made of natural veneer will fit perfectly into a classic, traditional interior; to a modern minimalist one - made of MDF with a soft touch coating (literally - “soft to the touch”), for example.
  • Think about practicality: matte kitchen Even a small stain will require washing the whole thing to ensure there are no streaks left. A glossy facade made of MDF, just wipe with by usual means for glass. At the same time, it is effective and looks expensive.

  • Be sure to pay attention to the production time. In a sense, this is a litmus test that will help you understand whether you are dealing with a bona fide manufacturer or not. There cannot be less than 35, or even 45 working days - the time needed for proper drying of the panels, gluing, painting. If they offer to do everything in a week or two, most likely they are assembling the kitchen from what is lying in the warehouse. Or they dry it incorrectly.

Chipboard facades

The artificial material does not have a high density - which means it quickly fails, especially at the attachment points. In its “pure form”, without any coatings, it reacts to temperature changes and humidity. Therefore, large factories use chipboard exclusively as a basis for various finishes. You can make it stronger (and also more visually impressive) by covering it with film, acrylic or a TSS facing layer.

Pros: low cost; large selection of textures: you can reliably imitate wood, concrete, stone, eco-leather.

Minuses: A chipboard façade requires an edge, which, firstly, simplifies the appearance of the product, and secondly, may peel off over time. You cannot install mortise handles in chipboard ( standard thickness slabs - 16 or 18 mm). In its “pure form” it is inferior to all materials in terms of environmental friendliness and wear resistance. A chipboard facade cannot be radius.

  • Film facades made of chipboard

They can be matte or glossy, with or without a pattern. But outwardly they are not very impressive. Glossy PVC film is always a little rough, shagreen - and does not give an ideal shine. But such a facade is the most budget-friendly. Yes, it will have an edge and only overhead fittings (no figured mortise handles), but if you need to save money, this best option.

  • Acrylic facades made of chipboard

Acrylic is a transparent coating that is applied to a film or already painted facade. Its cost, of course, is higher than with just PVC film, but it is also noticeably stronger. Although it is vulnerable to severe damage - the impact will leave a chip on the top layer. Not being restored.

  • Chipboard facades with TSS coating

TSS (Thermal Textured Surface) is essentially compressed kraft paper that is high pressure soldered into the chipboard base. Reliably conveys the texture of different bases: natural wood, leather, concrete.

TSS coating makes even chipboard facades durable, resistant to damage and easy to maintain. In addition, such finishing will not be expensive. The only negative is the edge at the end.

MDF facades

MDF - board medium density, pressed from small dry chips. The best option for kitchen facades: with high-quality assembly and proper care will safely last 10-15 years. Unlike chipboard, MDF does not have an edge and radius (bent) facades can be made from it.

Kitchen "Icon" with a radius facade, "Atlas Lux".

MDF facades are painted, veneered, and laminated with PVC film. You can create a glossy, matte or pearlescent surface in the color or shade you need, to imitate wood, concrete or metal. And use not only overhead, but also mortise fittings.

Pros: surface without joints up to 2.7 meters, thickness from 3 to 60 mm. Strong and durable material, can be restored.

Cons: artificial material.

  • Film facades from MDF

PVC film is the most a budget option MDF finishing: costs on average 20% cheaper than painted facades. This is a huge selection of textures and colors, easy to care for. However, the film can peel off and become deformed due to high (from 70 ℃) temperatures - it cannot be restored.

  • Acrylic facades from MDF

More reliable compared to base made of Chipboard option- and more expensive. Such a facade can be complex in shape, with all kinds of curves. Acrylic is easy to care for. Durable, but not strong enough to withstand swipe. Damage cannot be restored.

  • Painted MDF facades

If you are considering a colored coating without an edge, then an enamel facade is the ideal solution. You can paint it on both sides, make it matte or glossy, at your discretion. With this finish, you are not limited in the choice of shade you need: 188 colors from the RAL palette and 304 colors from the NCS palette. Painted facades can be polished and restored.

  • MDF facades with fine line coating

Fine line, or otherwise eco-veneer is a cut natural wood inexpensive softwood: poplar, for example. Fine-line is flexible, inexpensive to produce, absolutely environmentally friendly and allows you to convey the pattern of any wood. And it is significantly cheaper than natural veneer.

  • MDF facades with natural veneer

A thin section of natural wood is laid manually, which allows the pattern to remain uninterrupted throughout the entire façade. Finish coating can be made matte or glossy. Facades veneered with rosewood, satin walnut (red gum), olive, and anegri wood are always unique: two completely identical products simply do not exist. This is a plus and a minus at the same time: you cannot 100% predict how the façade of your kitchen will turn out. Therefore, when choosing exotic breeds, ask for a sample at the factory.

Kitchen "Valensa Wood", "Atlas Lux". The MDF facade can be veneered with seven types of valuable wood species under glossy or matte varnish.

  • MDF facades with stone veneer

Made from natural stone(cut of slate 1-3 mm thick) - or polyester resins, which outwardly are almost indistinguishable from natural material. This facade is resistant to temperature changes and high humidity, and is attractive from a decorative point of view. It is almost impossible to damage. The only disadvantage of this finish is small selection color solutions.

  • MDF facades with Soft Touch coating

Matte enamel is created specifically for surfaces that we often touch - and kitchen fronts one of them. Soft-touch is made on the basis of rubber varnish. This coating does not leave fingerprints, stains, or scratches; it does not glare and creates the feeling of a velvety, soft-to-touch surface. Easy to maintain: stains and traces of grease on such facades are almost invisible.

Facade coated with Soft touch.

Solid wood facades

They can be made from a solid cut of wood or with a frame made of solid wood, with an insert made of veneered MDF. If you are considering a kitchen in seasoned classic style- both options are for you. But keep in mind: just an array is expensive. And not entirely practical: over time, the tree can dry out and become deformed, especially in the south, where it is always high humidity. Although high quality, after proper drying, the array lasts 20-25 years.

A reasonable alternative to a 100% solid mass is a frame facade, in which the massif is framed by MDF. The MDF insert does not change its size during service, so this facade as a whole is more durable and resistant to influence environment. Visually you can’t tell it apart: the veneer covering the MDF insert completely replicates the texture of the solid frame.

The texture of the solid wood can be emphasized by patination or completely covered with enamel: it depends on the style of the kitchen. Modern classic assumes a smooth façade without wood texture; traditional classics, on the contrary, have a pronounced pattern.

Pros: natural, 100% environmentally friendly material; durable when dried properly.

Minuses: susceptible temperature changes and humidity; expensive material.

Wooden beds are loved by many for their attractive appearance, naturalness, durability and the ability to create a truly cozy, homely environment. However, is all the furniture that looks like wood actually wood and has these properties? No, not all of it, because due to the high cost, few decide to purchase solid wood furniture, but turn to more affordable, and therefore more attractive, substitutes like chipboard and MDF.

In this article we will try to figure out what they can be made from. modern beds, and what qualities they will have.

Solid wood beds

Let's start with furniture made from solid natural wood. In its production, high-quality, well-dried wood without knots and cracks is taken; it can be either whole boards or assembled boards from individual pieces connected with glue (glued laminated board), which are then sanded and varnished. At the same time, so that the bed does not highlight harmful substances, it is important that high quality, environmentally friendly varnish is used on water based. Beds made from solid noble wood are valued primarily for the beauty of their texture, hardness, strength, and durability. Each breed is distinguished by its individuality and uniqueness of its pattern, shade, noticeable aroma and warmth. Among different breeds The best woods are considered to be mahogany, oak, beech, ash, birch, since they have the greatest strength, do not creak and become less loose over time, preserving the beauty and nobility of the surface for a long time.

Often, those who cannot afford expensive furniture made of noble wood choose a pine bed, which is significantly cheaper in price. Pine has its drawbacks: it is relatively soft, so the screw joints in such furniture can become loose over time, and over time, when drying, unevenness and pits may appear in the pine boards.

The pliability of natural wood has ensured that furniture made from it is always decorated with a variety of carvings and patterns, which makes your bed elegant and unique. It is precisely because of this uniqueness that it is recommended to purchase elements of a bedroom set not separately, but the entire set at once (usually a bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, chest of drawers), since then you may simply not find components that will fit with those already purchased.

However, solid natural wood is a very expensive material and not accessible to everyone, so such furniture is purchased at long years, or even for life.

In this article:

Wood is the undisputed leader among materials that serve as the basis for interior doors. For its decorative and protective cladding, paints and varnishes, laminate (and its varieties), veneer, and fine line are used.

Of course, there are orders for doors made of polymers, metal (for example, from an aluminum frame with glass inserts). The decoration uses stone (both artificial and natural), various fabrics, and leather. But the share of these materials in mass production is low - such doors are, as a rule, made to order for small-scale or piece production.

Consumers evaluate doors according to standard criteria:

  • price,
  • quality,
  • external attractiveness,
  • operational characteristics.

But for manufacturers, the features of materials that can simplify the technological process, reduce costs, or, on the contrary, create additional problems during storage, transportation and processing are more important. Let's consider the pros and cons various materials used in the production of interior doors.

About saving raw materials and cost of doors

Just 70 years ago, natural solid wood was the only material for making interior doors. But the lack natural resources forced me to look for other solutions. The reason is simple: from 1 m3 of high-quality solid wood, about 2.5-3 units of doors are produced, and from the same amount of industrially suitable wood - no more than 2.

Due to the shortage of raw materials, the price of solid wood doors has gradually turned them into premium products. In the middle price category, veneer and fine line reigned. Therefore, today the most optimal combination of “environmental friendliness - quality - price” is an array of coniferous species, lined with natural veneer.

From 1 m 3 of wood you can get about 400 m 2 of veneer, which is enough to make 10-15 doors. And if the tree is grown and processed using technology fine-line, 1m 3 will be enough to produce 20-25 doors (less waste).

The use of cellular technology in the production of interior doors made of MDF (chipboard) has made it possible to fill the low price segment with a wide product range.

Of course, the quality of such products corresponds to the cost, but from 1 m 3 of wood it is possible to obtain 50-65 doors of the following design:

  • frame - MDF/chipboard, 5 cm thick (sometimes replaced with inexpensive wood);
  • internal voids - “honeycombs” made of chipboard/MDF ( wood boards with special internal round channels);
  • external cladding – MDF sheets, which are additionally decorated (painting, laminate, veneer).

Natural solid wood in the production of interior doors

A door made entirely of furniture board is a beautiful and wear-resistant thing. Its cost depends, first of all, on the type of wood. Expensive wood used in mass production - beech, oak, maple, mahogany. The price for such doors “starts” at $500. Therefore, higher demand is noted for products made from “soft” wood (for example, pine, spruce), their cost is quite budgetary - from $200.

Array- a material that is fastidious in storage and processing. Only thoroughly dried boards and panels can be used in production to avoid deformation and warping of the wood. In this case, the array Low quality(for example, with knots or curved beams) - guaranteed to lead to defects. Therefore, when harvesting yourself, you sometimes have to reject up to 60% of lumber.

Advantages of the array:

  • structural strength of the doors, reliable fastenings, good adhesion of the door leaf to finishing materials;
  • opportunity to launch a complete workshop production cycle, which will allow you to independently produce raw materials for doors;
  • a material that “speaks for itself” - massive doors do not need special advertising, they are known as a product High Quality and the corresponding price.

Flaws:

  • unique individuality of the structure of each door;
  • poor tolerance to humidity and temperature changes;
  • a door made of solid wood has significant weight, so the fittings (especially door hinges and locks) must be of high quality, designed for high loads;
  • there is a high probability of cracks forming in places where the lamellas are glued together when using low-quality glue or insufficient drying of the source material.

Therefore, during serial and mass production, solid interior doors are covered with a decorative and protective layer of natural veneer.

Fine line and veneer

To reduce material consumption in production door leaves veneer sheets began to be used - thin sections of wood (0.6-1 mm), which are glued together to achieve high density.

But natural veneer has a special nuance - the uniqueness of the wood structure. Therefore, in mass production, where it is necessary to achieve the same indicators (including in the drawing and in color scheme), a high percentage of waste occurs. But most often such defects are discovered after the tint or varnish has dried - at the final stage of production.

A new product from the wood industry helped solve the “eternal problem” - veneer made using Fine-line technology. It is made from industrial wood of fast-growing poplars and abacha, grown in a special way so that the structure is uniform and the workpieces are free of knots and other defects.

Peeled veneer is obtained from this wood, glued in stacks using a special program, and painted to give the most identical appearance. Therefore, a fine line from one batch will be guaranteed to have the same parameters and characteristics.

Advantages: naturalness of the material, and when using fine-line technology - stability of color and structure. The use of veneer is a chance to reduce wood waste in production and diversify the product range. This material makes it possible to make available doors that reliably imitate expensive species. For example, natural mahogany or wenge veneer costs 5 times more than its fine-line “version,” not to mention solid wood.

Minuses: Fine-line has low strength (the material is based on soft poplar, so you should not expect special wear resistance from doors made using this technology). Even multi-layer varnish does not save. On the contrary, a hardened varnish coating applied to a soft base increases the likelihood of cracks or a special “white halo” from even a minor impact.

But natural veneer is made from hardwood and is designed to protect soft wood from accidental damage. But high cost and a large number of defects are an inevitable drawback of this material.

MDF, chipboard

Chipboard, and subsequently MDF– the most economical material in terms of conservation of natural resources and production costs. For the production of slabs, wane, fine gauge, branches are used - in a word, wood waste. Doors made from these materials have the lowest cost (especially when faced with laminate - a synthetic film with a pattern).

To reduce costs, many manufacturers make only a frame from solid wood (for example, from pine slats), and the surface of the canvas is covered with embossed or smooth MDF boards (chipboard).

Advantages:

  • low price;
  • the possibility of decorating (painting, pasting) for any material, not limited to wood;
  • low weight (11-20 kg) allows the use of almost any fittings - according to the choice and capabilities of the client;
  • the structures do not dry out and are much less sensitive to moisture and temperature changes than solid wood doors.

Flaws:

  • the appearance reminds many of plastic (especially the “Finnish” white smooth doors);
  • not resistant to damage - upon impact, dents are formed that cannot be repaired;
  • contain formaldehydes that are harmful to health;
  • have weak ends of the door leaf;
  • coloring – low strength.

Materials used for external decoration of interior doors

1. Laminate– paper impregnated with acrylic or melamine resins. With the help of full-color printing, a very believable imitation of an expensive finish is achieved, but paper remains paper - it fades over time, is easily deformed from mechanical damage and under the influence of moisture, and has poor adhesion to the base material (especially on curved elements).

2. Two-chrome laminate– a polymer film with the addition of corundum, which is specially treated to be resistant to ultraviolet radiation, scratches and abrasion. It holds well both on planes and on elements with a large radius of curvature. Reliably imitates natural veneer.

3. Veneer– a thin cut of wood, thanks to which even a door made of MDF or laminated pine beams looks no less impressive in appearance than a door made of solid wood. Resistant to accidental damage, it allows you to significantly expand the range - from the usual oak to wenge, mahogany and other exotic species.

4. Paint and varnish products– for protection and imparting a spectacular glossy or noble matte shine finished products varnish is applied to them in several layers (if necessary, after preliminary tinting). Although many manufacturers use at this stage manual labor, but automation of the process will help eliminate a large number of hidden defects, ensuring smoothness, absence of air bubbles and uniform coating of the door leaf.

New solutions, materials, approaches to design - form a high-level market. This concerns, first of all, production kitchen sets. Craftsmen think through the concept of creating furniture down to the smallest detail so that it is ergonomic, beautiful and durable.

The most common and suitable materials For many years, solid wood, MDF and plastic have remained for the manufacture of headsets.

Pros and cons of MDF kitchens

They are in high demand among buyers. Moreover, only furniture facades are made from MDF material. The rest is the frame and interior decoration made from laminated chipboard.

MDF is a durable and reliable material that is obtained by pressing wood shavings under high temperature. During the production process, lignin is released from sawdust, which glues them together. The result is a dense sheet.

The resulting canvas is then decorated using various materials: plastic, PVC film, coated with enamel, acrylic film or paint. There are quite a lot of options for kitchen design.

Service life and resistance to mechanical stress at MDF with various coatings- heterogeneous.

Advantages of headsets coated with film:

  1. Bright and rich shades.
  2. Possibility to design facades in different colors: plain, combined, two-color and others.
  3. They do not absorb foreign odors.
  4. Moisture resistant.
  5. Do not deteriorate due to sudden temperature changes.
  6. They do not release toxins.
  7. Shiny and reflect light.

Minuses:

  1. Not resistant to mechanical damage: Accidental impact may cause chips, deep cracks and scratches.
  2. It is necessary to constantly wash and polish, as even if you lightly touch the surface with your hand, fingerprints and stains remain.
  3. High price.
  4. Inability to carry out restoration of facades at home.

Coating MDF with PVC film also has its positive and negative sides:

  • You can make a kitchen in any color and create a visual relief of the coating: leather, wood, patina, stone and more.
  • Cleans up quickly.
  • When washing, you can use strong cleaning agents, hard sponges and brushes.
  • The color retains its tone for a long time - about 30 years.
  • Resistant to low and high temperatures (up to 100 degrees).
  • They are not afraid of moisture.

Minuses:
