For a small city apartment, saving space is extremely important, which is why folding furniture (transformers) is becoming increasingly popular. This usually applies to massive pieces of furniture - beds and sofas. Select separate room It doesn’t always work out for a bedroom, so there is a need to combine rooms such as a bedroom and a living room, a bedroom and a children’s room. Manufacturers offer various options such a situation. You can choose beds that differ in size and shape. But it’s not always possible to choose what you want. The way out of the situation is to assemble the bed with your own hands.

For those whose apartment space does not allow for large beds or sofas, furniture manufacturers have come up with a folding bed. During the day you can fold it up to create a sofa, and in the evening it becomes a cozy bed.

Assembly instructions are simple. Today you can find different schemes beds. These models are convenient because they easily rise after sleep, without taking up any useful space in the room. During the day it is cozy sofa with a shelf, and in the evening - comfortable bed for relax. As a result, the space is used as conveniently as possible, and the room is not cluttered with anything unnecessary.

Types of folding beds

Folding bed, assembled with your own hands, has a number of advantages:

  1. It takes up little space, which allows you to free up room space for other needs.
  2. Dust does not collect on the upholstery, since the structure is assembled.
  3. IN assembled form the design is not noticeable, does not interfere, the room can be used as a living room.

These models can be divided into 2 large groups:

A longitudinally folding bed is usually disguised as a closet door.

  1. Cross-folding ones, which are great for children. By appearance they are very reminiscent of the shelves in sleeping cars of trains, i.e. they lean to the side. Such beds can easily be disguised as shelves or used as bookcases. The designs of such beds are made single. They are comfortable and take up minimal space even when unfolded.
  2. The longitudinally folding bed can be double. It is usually disguised as cabinet doors. After use, it rises to the top using a special mechanism. The weight of this design is large, so it is not intended for children. The bed frame can be used in a room where there is enough space to lift it, otherwise you will have to think about another option.

Materials and tools for work

To assemble a bed with your own hands, you need to prepare following materials and tools:

Tools for making a wooden bed.

  1. MDF boards with a thickness of 20 mm. They can be ordered already cut required form and sizes.
  2. A sheet of plywood with a thickness of 10 mm, which will be used for the bottom. Can be replaced with wooden planks, but a plywood sheet is installed much faster; you just need to drill holes in it for ventilation.
  3. Fastening elements: nails, screws, metal corners, plates.
  4. Special lifting mechanism, which will ensure the movement of the bed frame.
  5. A simple pencil, a long metal ruler, a building level, a building corner.
  6. Sandpaper, drill, screwdriver.
  7. Screwdrivers, Sander, jigsaw.

The folding bed is easy to assemble, today you can find the most various schemes. But for this it is necessary to use drawings showing the assembly order.

Assembling the bed: main steps

The installation itself will be performed in the following sequence:

Diagram of a folding bed.

  1. First you need to draw up a design for such a bed. You can use many ready-made ones that offer various options. It is enough just to carry out calculations for the future design, substitute the resulting dimensional values into the already finished drawing. Usually the design is simple, it includes a box (mounted to the base), the bottom of the future bed (which is the outer part of the closet), a frame for the mattress and the mattress itself. A lifting mechanism is attached to the box, allowing the structure to be raised and lowered.
  2. The bed assembly is as follows: 2 side long boards the frame is fastened transversely, another central board is installed in the middle, which will give the structure the necessary rigidity. Craftsmen often use inner space in order to arrange convenient drawers for bed linen, for pillows that need to be put away somewhere after the bed is folded.
  3. All fastenings are carried out using self-tapping screws, metal corners and plates; the structure should be as strong and reliable as possible. After this, you need to install a lifting mechanism. It can be purchased ready-made; it is mounted on the outer edge of the frame. The mechanism should not interfere with the use of the bed, for which it is necessary to first think about how and where it is best located.
  4. Afterwards, the frame for the mattress is mounted, which is a structure made of a rectangular box and transverse slats. Instead of slats, you can use a solid surface of plywood sheet, it all depends on personal preference. But in plywood it is necessary to do round holes for ventilation of the internal space.
  5. The folding bed is attached to the cabinet structure, and the functionality of the folding mechanism is checked. The front part is a panel that imitates the surface of cabinet doors, but it can also be designed as an attractive decorative board threaded. This panel is the last to be attached; it is securely screwed to the bed frame.

A folding bed is a convenient design that allows you to save space in small city apartments where there is a lack of free space.

Such folding frames can be completely various types, in the presence of certain experience you can easily assemble them with your own hands. You just need to first decide on the model of the bed, draw up or take a ready-made drawing, and purchase the materials necessary for the work.

Just think about which piece of furniture takes up a huge amount of space in our small-sized homes? Of course it's a bed. Many people prefer to purchase compact folding sofas to save space. But not even the most comfortable sofa can replace the feeling of relaxation and comfort that you can experience while relaxing on the bed.

That is why folding beds, or, as they are also called, lifting beds, have become increasingly popular.

What is a lift bed

What kind of lift-up bed is this? In essence, this is an ordinary bed, which, when assembled in a vertical position, is placed in a closet or chest of drawers. Currently, furniture manufacturers use the most modern materials, thanks to which such a product will last long years, and the varied design will help you choose furniture to suit any interior.

This design is called a transformer, because during the day it is an ordinary wardrobe or chest of drawers with shelves, and at night it is a comfortable bed.

Folding furniture can be of two modifications:

  1. Vertical. Characterized by a vertical arrangement sleeping place. This bed model is suitable for people of different heights and weights (can be either a single or a double).
  2. Horizontal. It is distinguished by the longitudinal arrangement of the sleeping bed. Most often used for children's bed models.

Among the features, one more factor can be identified, which is the installation of folding beds together with a mattress specially made to fit. Many manufacturers offer a choice of purchasing similar furniture: just a separate bed or a bed with adjacent niches and shelves. Of course, this equipment costs a little more, but it fits well into the interior.

Pros and cons of lift-up beds

Positive sides:

  • the most important advantage is the huge space savings;
  • the upholstery does not get dusty or dirty;
  • beautiful design solution– economical and elegant.

But there are also certain disadvantages:

  • this, of course, is the high cost of such structures;
  • such a bed will also have to be assembled every day in the morning and laid out in the evening (in general, this option is not for the lazy);
  • there is no way to move it to some other place.

Of course, to save space, you can try to assemble this design with your own hands.

DIY folding bed: step-by-step instructions

Let's consider the main stage of its manufacture:

  1. You need to determine for yourself what kind of bed you need - a vertical or horizontal modification.
  2. Indicate what you will need for work: frame, lifting mechanism, orthopedic mattress. Choose the material from which the bed will be assembled (you can take chipboard, MDF or natural wood). The main thing here is that the selected material suits you in every way. technical specifications, that is, it was durable, reliable and environmentally friendly.

Materials that will be needed for the upcoming work:

  • MDF boards 20 mm thick;
  • plywood 10 mm thick;
  • nails;
  • screws;
  • fastening loops.

Tools:

  • yardstick;
  • pencil;
  • emery;
  • drill;
  • screwdrivers: Phillips and slotted;
  • corner;
  • saw;
  • grinding angle.

After preliminary preparation Let's proceed directly to the assembly.

  1. The first step is to assemble the frame. It can be in the form of a cabinet or be a separate piece of apartment design. When choosing material for the box, you must remember that in the future you will have to make efforts to lift it along with the bed. Therefore, the wall on which the structure is installed must be concrete in order to withstand the load placed on it.
  2. We attach the box to the wall, based on the upper profile and the axis of rotation of the structure. The thickness of the vertical walls is usually 2.5 centimeters, and the horizontal thickness is from 1.5 to 2.5 centimeters. The box consists of two parts (plinth and shelf for support). The back wall does not need to be attached.
  3. All parts are fastened together with self-tapping screws at a distance of 25 centimeters from each other. The frame must be installed on a flat surface.
  4. To make the bed itself, you need to take two side boards, two backs and a headboard. In order to strengthen the mattress on the bed, special belts are used. For all other parts - mounting angles.
  5. The next stage of assembly is attaching the stock to the frame using a lifting mechanism. Recommended to use ready-made option with gas spring. Using it, you can fix this structure in any position. It is also a good idea to attach an additional fastener to prevent the bed from spontaneously opening. The safety strap is attached to the top of the frame, which holds the folding part through a loop.

Horizontal design

The assembly mechanism of this product is similar to the vertical model.

There is a stock box and a lifting mechanism. Their parameters will differ depending on the size of the mattress and the bed itself.

For installation you need:

  • four chipboard parts for side (1080 × 394 × 19 mm) and internal items (1080 × 265 × 19 mm);
  • two wood panels for the bed cover (2020 × 400 × 19 mm) and the shelf (1010 × 400 × 19 mm);
  • two wood panels for the bottom of the bed (1982 × 390 × 19 mm) and shelves (972 × 390 × 19 mm);
  • two wood panels for decorating a chest of drawers (980 × 310 × 19 mm);
  • two bed guides (2000 mm);
  • cornice (2020 × 992 × 19 mm).

All parts are attached with self-tapping screws. This design is assembled according to the principle of assembling a vertical bed. Side rails 13 cm long are attached along the length of the frame so that the mattress does not move.

Despite big choice ready-made furniture, many people spend a lot of time and effort searching for a suitable wardrobe or bed. Various models are sifted through the “sieve of doubts”, differing from each other in design, color and size, but nothing fits. This is exactly the problem encountered by a user of our site with the nickname avamonster, and a homemade bed became an excellent way out of the “furniture dead end” for him. In this article we are making a bed together with our user!

DIY bed

I need a transformable bed for my house that can be quickly and easily stored in a closet against the wall. When folded, the front part of such a bed should be completely identical to the “facade” of a regular wardrobe. Therefore, there should be no protruding handles, protruding legs, etc. outside. Such a bed should not take up much space. When unfolded, the “transformer” should turn into a fully functional bed designed for comfortable sleep, and not a guest “crib”.

Having scoured the Internet, reviewed dozens of diagrams and sketches of beds and visited several furniture stores, the forum member could not find a model that would fully satisfy his needs. Namely:

  • Need a transformer for standard size mattress 1600x2000x150 mm, like a normal sofa; The height of the unfolded bed should not exceed 45-55 cm;
  • The width of the transforming bed is equal to: the width of the mattress (1600 mm) plus the thickness of the side walls of the cabinet made of chipboard. That is, approximately 1632 mm. The depth of the bed is equal to the depth of the cabinet - 450 mm. When unfolded, the length of the bed should not exceed 2100-2200 mm;
  • In the open position, the folding bed should fit well into the interior of the apartment, and not look like the simplest analogue of a “folding bed”. Should be easy and quick to clean;
  • An unfolded bed should not take up much space in the house and interfere with free movement around the room, opening adjacent cabinets, cabinets, drawers etc;
  • Safety: the bed should not have sharp corners that you can hit with your foot, hidden cavities and crevices where pets or small children can crawl into. The gas lift or opening mechanism springs should not be located near the sleeper's head;
  • “Humane” price tag.

We present a selection of photographs of those folding beds that a forum member viewed, and also give his comments on why this or that model did not suit him.

A quick glance at this picture is enough to understand that this is not a simple wardrobe, but a wardrobe into which they managed to build a “folding bed”. It would be better not to build it in - there are visible gaps at the bottom and top, and the handles are located very inconveniently.

This lifting model, when folded, is no different from a regular wardrobe, but once it is unfolded, the bed blocks access to cabinets and drawers. This means that it must constantly be retracted and lowered, which is very inconvenient.

Wardrobe bed option with sliding doors. This model does not take up much space, and when folded it is indistinguishable from a standard cabinet. The main inconvenience is the large depth of the “transformer” - 80 cm. You will have to sleep, practically lying with your head and shoulders in the closet. Not everyone will like this. So this “guest” option was also dropped.

A typical model that can often be seen in stores. Avamonster was not happy with the fact that, instead of springs or gas lift, the bed is removed using a counterweight. When it reclines, you can see that the bottoms look like the legs of a “folding bed.” And the price exceeds 40 thousand rubles.

Another common option. Avamonster's main complaints about this folding bed: the legs stick out from above like “tendrils”, and when opened, the mattress lies inside the bed frame. Walking next to such a bed, you can accidentally hit your foot on its sharp corner. A block with springs hangs next to the head, and by the “tram” handles you can immediately determine that this is not an ordinary cabinet, but a “transformer”.

avamonster User FORUMHOUSE

All the models that I saw in the store had a design: “a box made of chipboard or plywood, into which a mattress is simply placed.” This didn't suit me. I have been to the USA, where I saw a different design: the frame is “inside” the base for the mattress, and the mattress itself is slightly wider than the base. The springs or gas lift are located under the mattress, and do not stick out in front of the face. It seems to me that this option is safer and easier to use.

There is also an option with a double caterpillar bed, but such “transformers” are expensive and do not often come to light.

The search for a ready-made folding bed was unsuccessful, but a negative result is also a result. As a result of his ordeals, avamonster finally decided on the list of requirements for the product and therefore decided to assemble the bed himself.

This “two-in-one” option is also interesting, but this “make your own double bed” project is much more difficult to implement at home.

Material required to assemble a transformable bed

Looking ahead, let's say that a forum member managed to assemble a double bed that was no different and even superior to industrial or custom-made samples. The width of the “transformer” is 1640 mm, the length when unfolded is 2130 mm, and the height is 500 mm.

According to avamonster, sketchup helped him achieve the success of the project and do everything right the first time, without numerous rework and changes. Having spent three months studying the program from “0”, having sat over the drawings and dimensions, the forum member sketched out virtual models of the crib and diagrams of its components, which can be rotated on the monitor screen (see pictures).

This approach allowed us to avoid many mistakes. After all, many novice craftsmen often forget the main construction proverb: “measure twice, cut once.” An attempt to turn everything into metal at once, without plans, drawings and competent calculation of several options, leads to damage to the material due to constant changes in the design of the product.

The DIY bed is made from simple materials and does not require special tools for its production.

What is needed to make a product

  • Chipboard sheets - 1580x995x16 mm. Cutting to size, and edging the ends of the slabs was done “on the side”. It took 12 thousand rubles;

  • Custom made springs for lifting mechanism. Those. spring parameters: rod diameter – 4 mm, external diameter- 36 mm, number of turns - 30. Length of spring with hooks - 18 cm. Tension stroke - 21 cm. Applied force -55 kg. Spring parameters, which depend on the lever arm and total weight beds, the forum member calculated in a special calculator. A set of 5 parts cost Avamonster 3.5 thousand rubles;

  • DIY bed frame – profile pipe with dimensions 4x2 cm. Wall thickness frame pipe- 2 mm. A total of 18 meters of such pipe were purchased. The pipe was cut to size into elements on site so that it could be transported home in a regular car. This took another 1.5 thousand rubles;

avamonster

Because I have no welding machine, then I had to drill holes in the pipes for the mounting bolts. This made the task of assembling the bed-wardrobe much more difficult. The best option- I had to weld it all myself or have it done to a metalworking shop to order, otherwise I also had to clean the rust from the pipes. Surfaces of all visible metal parts I covered the pipes with wood-look film.

  • Hardware. The DIY bed was assembled using bolts, nuts and screws. For strength and rigidity, the homemade frame was twisted into corners for M6 bolts. All bolted connections were also calculated for shear load. For the whole necessary fasteners The forum member spent another 4 thousand rubles.

How to assemble a transforming bed yourself: main steps

The base for the mattress (chipboard sheets) was screwed to a homemade frame using special drill-tip screws. Such self-tapping screws have a “drill” at the end: chipboard should be passed with a larger diameter, steel with a smaller one, and already at the finish a recess is countersunk in the wood for the head of the self-tapping screw. Thus, in one step the chipboard board is attracted to metal frame without pre-drilling it.

The frame design is designed so that soft mattress is the widest part of the crib. In this case, it is impossible to hit your foot on the hard protruding edge of the frame.

If a person lives in small apartment, lack of space becomes a serious problem. The folding bed literally disappears in just a few seconds! By making a wardrobe bed with your own hands, you can solve the issue related to the shortage square meters: expand the children's room, freeing it up for games, turn the guest room into a home office, the living room into a mini-hotel, taking into account the frequent visits of relatives, and the bedroom can become a gym.

About serious and funny

So what's so exciting about the "invisible" bed design? Is this really a bed? Or is it a closet? A huge mattress can be neatly hidden, is it really easy to do? Yes! And the transformer was not invented yesterday, but at least a century ago. According to legend, the inventor of the device, William L. Murphy, lived in one-room apartment in San Francisco. The moral code of those times did not approve of women who dare to enter a man’s bedroom, so the savvy guy turned the bed into a closet and his room into a living room, not forgetting to obtain a patent for the invention in 1900. However, at this very moment, Thomas Jefferson already had his beds hanging on ropes and hooks in the bedroom alcoves. Murphy is said to have married the very girl who inspired him to transform the apartment.

Changing your living space today is seen as a lifestyle choice, and a folding transforming bed solves multi-tasks. Modern versions of various models can have glass, mirrors and beautiful lighting, as well as shelves for computers, TVs and stereo systems. Some apartment owners decorate the walls above the bed with expensive artwork.

A combination of elegance and ergonomics

A convertible folding bed can last up to 60 years! Since the first model, many designs have been created: the bed can be folded horizontally and vertically, be two-tiered and have additional functions. For example, beds with tables and models with sofas are popular.

Vertical option beds are considered traditional. A horizontal bed is good for narrow rooms and premises with low ceilings, for example, it can be installed in the attic.

After installing the bed-wardrobe, the room turns into:

  • bedroom-office;
  • bedroom-living room;
  • children's bedroom.

When deciding to make an “invisible” bed, you should take a closer look at interesting ideas:

  • The transformer can be supplemented with convenient bookshelves.

  • The horizontally positioned folding bed can easily be attached to low modular furniture.
  • It’s quite an interesting solution when the room is made in Japanese minimalist style and the built-in bed looks like “shoji” walls.

  • A transformer in a teenager's room can become part of a cozy corner cabinet.
  • In a children's room, it is sometimes convenient to make a two-tier wardrobe bed.

  • A transformer can have an unusual look if you make the decor yourself. The retro space is adorable!
  • A bed-wardrobe can appear in an apartment made in any style. For example, with the appropriate design and decor, it will look good in the sophisticated French atmosphere of Provence. Gray sliding doors will add the necessary textural contrast.

What do you need to know?

The transformer, which the simplest drawings give an idea of, consists of 4 key components:

  • lifting mechanism;
  • heavy-duty magnetic clasp that prevents the bed from falling out;
  • bed frames;
  • closet

Any modern mechanism designed for a wardrobe bed ensures easy folding.

The lifting system can be:

Spring mechanism. It typically consists of heavy-duty compressed steel springs in the bed frame that make lifting and lowering easy. But after several years of intensive use, the springs need adjustment.

Piston mechanism. Unlike spring device, pistons are safer, last much longer and break less.

Each mechanism is designed for a certain weight. A pair of metal springs or a piston lift make it easy and safe to place the bed box into the frame. A secure latch will keep furniture in place. closed position.

It is important to remember that the mechanism is the most important thing in creating a modern Murphy bed. Installation of equipment will probably be the most time-consuming part of the work. Only correct installation According to the instructions, it guarantees reliable folding. If the mechanism for the bed-wardrobe is purchased in stores furniture fittings, an installation diagram that is easy to understand will definitely be included with the kit.

A person who has ever built a cabinet or similar large-scale piece of furniture with their own hands probably has all the skills to integrate a transformer into a wall.

The manufacturing process of the piece of furniture itself includes:

  • creating a cabinet that looks like a frame;
  • bed box to which the legs are attached.

Beds that are hidden in the closet do not have heavy spring mattress structures. Typically, an orthopedic or regular mattress rests on a wooden platform, wire mesh or slats and is secured with elastic straps that hold it in place while the unit is folded vertically.

How to make calculations?

To create a bed, the most attractive option is to use a combination of high-grade plywood and solid wood. As already mentioned, on the sides of the cabinet designed to hide the bed, you can add bookshelves, and in top part halogen lighting must be built into the frames. The face of a structure can look as simple as a sheet of plywood or be as complex as a piece of antique furniture.

The height of the legs, sides and the height of the part of the mattress protruding above the sides is the total height of the sleeping place, on which the depth of the cabinet structure depends. Typically it is approximately 450 mm ( standard height chair) - sit comfortably.

Taking into account the thickness of the lifting mechanism, simple calculations can be made. If the mechanism has a thickness of 32 mm, then the gaps between the sides of the bed and the sides of the cabinet will be 32 mm on each side. Accordingly, the calculation takes into account the width of the bed, the thickness of the sides of the base, gaps for installing the mechanism and the thickness of the sides of the cabinet.

The height of the closet depends on the length or width of the bed.

Work order

The biggest obstacle for many people is finding a place to do carpentry work. Therefore, it is worth considering assembling it in a garage or renting a special room for a while.

To make a transformer, you need to prepare the following tools for work:

  • centimeter tape measure;
  • building level, square;
  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • jigsaw;
  • grinding machine;
  • keys (hex);
  • Screwdriver Set.

In addition, you will need quality materials. Based on the sizes, you need to make a list of them.

A mattress, regular or orthopedic, should be purchased immediately to check the dimensions of the bed frame and cabinet. Pillows are typically stored in a closet or chest of drawers rather than on the mattress when it is hidden.

  • Bed frame assembly

The frame consists of 4 boards of the same height, which will serve as the sides of the bed. It is important to create an even rectangle with 90° corners. The frames are connected using wooden pins coated with glue. After the glue has dried, self-tapping screws and furniture corners are used to finally fasten the sides together. You can nail a rail with a cross-section of 100x50 mm around the perimeter; it will serve as a limiter for the mattress.

The base can be made from a single piece of plywood or, for example, it can be made from planks. There are many options. Important! Sometimes additional stiffeners may be needed. At this stage you can make decoration.

  • Assembling the cabinet frame

The cabinet frame parts are fastened using the same principle as the bed frame parts.

When the bed is folded back, the wardrobe may simply fall to the floor. To avoid this, you need to attach it to load-bearing wall using metal corners. The fasteners are placed as high as possible on the sides. If the folding bed is hidden in the structure furniture wall, then the weight of the wall will be a good insurance policy; if the cabinet is located “across the board” between the ceiling and the floors, theoretically it will not be able to fall.

  • Bed legs

You can make the legs yourself by ensuring they are built in using furniture hinges, or can be purchased together with the mechanism.

  • Installation of mechanisms

The spring or piston mechanism is installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

For owners small apartments An excellent choice would be to install transformable built-in furniture, for example, a wardrobe bed.

Such option will do for living room, bedroom, children's room. You can purchase ready-made furniture in any store, you can order it individually or make it yourself.

If you choose self-production, you will save your own savings and be able to make furniture of a design and size that will harmoniously fit into your small apartment.

A feature of the built-in transformer furniture is the presence of special mechanisms, with the help of which, with a slight movement, it turns into a spacious bed for comfortable rest and sleep.

When assembled, such furniture looks like an ordinary wardrobe. And when disassembled, it turns into a soft and warm bed. Before you start making this furniture, you should decide on its type of construction.

According to the type of location, the wardrobe-bed can be:

  • vertical. This option is the most common. You can make a folding product from different materials, any sizes and designs. The furniture will fit harmoniously into the living room, bedroom, children's room;
  • horizontal. This type of design is most often chosen for children and teenagers. As a rule, horizontal models are not particularly large in size.

Wardrobe bed can be made in any stylistic direction. This furniture fits harmoniously into classic and modern interiors. Its sizes range from a small single bed to a large bunk model.

To assemble transformer furniture you will need to prepare main components:

  • lifting mechanism;
  • Heavy-duty magnetic clasp to prevent the bed from falling out;
  • bed frame;
  • closet.

The lifting mechanism is:

Important. When choosing a spring mechanism, it is necessary to take into account the weight of the product.

Step-by-step diagram for assembling a transformer for a small apartment

Preparation

Having decided to make transformable furniture on your own, you need to think through everything carefully. You should start with:

  • creating a detailed drawing;
  • sizing;
  • selection of materials;
  • preparation of instruments;
  • selection color scheme and design.

Dimensions

The size of the bed is selected according to the free space of the room. If the room is spacious and light, you can make it pretty large furniture with a spacious double bed. For married couples, beds with sizes from 1600x2000 to 1800x2000 are suitable.

And here for children, teenagers and singles people can choose products ranging in size from 1200x1900 to 1500x1900.

Advice. For small, cramped rooms, it is better to choose models with a horizontal bed position.

Drawing with dimensions

Creating a sketch is important point in the manufacture of furniture. You can do it yourself using a pencil, ruler and sheet, or you can order it from a special company, where they will make accurate calculations based on the model of the wardrobe-bed.

Advice. If you are good with a personal computer, you can download a special program for cutting furniture. She will create a competent and accurate drawing of all furniture elements.

If you use the services of professionals or computer program, with the help of a well-drawn drawing it will be easier to assemble furniture on your own, since there will be no inaccuracies in the drawings. And if you do the calculations yourself, without having any skills in this area, you may encounter certain difficulties. For example, the dimensions of the parts and the like may not match.

Tools and materials

IN preparatory stage Assembly includes preparation of tools and materials. Most often, transformable furniture is made from natural wood or laminated chipboard. Concerning array, it has the following qualities:

  • naturalness;
  • durability;
  • resistance to mechanical damage.

laminated chipboard is:

From tools You will need to prepare or purchase:

  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • roulette;
  • furniture screws;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • grinding machine;
  • hex keys;
  • Screwdriver Set;
  • folding mechanism and other accessories.

How to make it yourself at home?

After creating a drawing, purchasing Supplies, preparing tools, you can start making furniture.

Some prefer to make parts with their own hands using an existing drawing and the necessary power tools. Others use the services of companies where they cut all the parts. The second option is more convenient.

After cutting and trimming the parts, all that is required of you is drill holes assemble furniture in the right places and in the right order.

The assembly of the wardrobe-bed is divided into certain stages:

  1. First, the cabinet body is assembled, in the middle of which the sleeping place will be hidden. Such a body should consist of: back wall, baseboards and shelves for support. All parts must be fastened to each other with self-tapping screws at a distance of 25 cm from each other. The assembled cabinet body is installed in a previously prepared place.
  2. The next step is to install the assembled case in place and fix it to the wall.
  3. Now you can begin assembling the bed base. It consists of a frame with boards, and its height must clearly correspond to the size of the mattress.
  4. Now, after assembling all the other parts of the product, we firmly fix the base with the box using self-tapping screws.
  5. We attach the folding mechanism according to the instructions supplied by the manufacturer.
  6. The final stage of assembly is connecting the body with the remaining elements and installing the facade.

Important. Furniture must be installed on a perfectly flat surface. The base of the bed must strictly fit the dimensions assembled frame closet

Facade installation is final stage decorating the wardrobe-bed. It is best to choose blank facades made of laminated chipboard.

To complete the assembly, the transformable wardrobe-bed can be equipped with shelves for books, racks and other elements.
