How to properly install a wooden house block. Attaching a block house to the wall: how to do it right? Cost of materials and work

A block house is one of the types of panels that imitate logs. All types of this material have excellent characteristics, but despite this, the quality of the cladding and service life are highly dependent on its attachment to the surface.

Properties of block house panels

Block house can be of three types: wooden, metal and plastic. In interior decoration, valuable wood is most often used, usually pine, larch or spruce. It is better to use metal or plastic for exterior decoration.

Block house is a type of siding with an external stylization like a wooden log

Among the advantages of using this material, the following should be noted:

  • installation is simple, not labor-intensive and does not take much time;
  • the technologies used for fastenings provide the possibility of performing work on insulation and waterproofing of premises;
  • the material is durable and practically does not require additional maintenance during operation;
  • surfaces treated with a block house contribute to the creation of a high-quality ventilation system;
  • siding goes well with other building materials;
  • the panels do not have much weight, which means the load on bearing structures minimal.

Thanks to these advantages, the block house is in demand in the construction market.

It depends on the type of material how and how to attach the block house to the surface.. Having finally decided on the type of block house, you can begin to select fasteners. You can use galvanized metal dowels or use hanging brackets. Effectively use clamps for fastening.

The process itself is not difficult, especially since panels have the same dimensions, grooves and tenons on the edges, but the fastening principle itself is not much different.

Preparatory work

Before you start facing works, you should carefully prepare the surface and check the panels.

Preparing panels

Next preparatory stage includes inspection and preparation of siding panels.

In practice, the material is ready for use once it goes on sale. Wood siding requires treatment with an antiseptic.

Such panels must meet the following requirements:

  • dry and must take temperature environment. Before installation, it is recommended to leave the panels in fresh air for 2 hours;
  • without knots or irregularities.

Metal and plastic panels In fact, they do not require any preparatory work.

Surface preparation

Before fixing the house block outside or inside the house (premises), it is necessary to prepare the surfaces well.

The preparation process includes the following steps:

  • clean the surface from all kinds of stains;
  • fill all uneven areas with plaster;
  • If there are areas contaminated with fungus or mold, clean them and then treat them with a primer and antiseptic.

The surface preparation process is important stage, subsequently ensuring maximum service life.

A strong sheathing provides the lion's share of the durability of the block house

To obtain a smooth and neat surface, it is recommended to install a sheathing.

Lathing

In order to make room cladding, it is necessary to make a frame. Wooden and metal panels They have quite a lot of weight, so for these types of blockhouses the use of a frame is mandatory. The subsequent process of installing a metal and wooden block house essentially coincides with the installation of a plastic one.

Metal or wood is most often used to make the frame. Metal sheathing is suitable for installing heavy cladding material, but for a blockhouse it is better to use a wooden frame.

The operating principle is as follows:

  • cover the walls with a film that will serve as vapor insulation. The film is overlapped by 3 cm;
  • make a frame.

A distance of 50 cm should be maintained between the bars. It is this distance that will ensure the strength and stability of the frame.

After completing the lathing, if necessary, waterproofing or thermal insulation should be laid. The easiest way to attach wood or metal to a frame is with self-tapping screws.

Fastening process

It should be noted that when installing panels to the surface It is necessary to leave a gap of approximately 50mm at the bottom and top for ventilation. It is also necessary to leave 1-2 mm between the panels to avoid deformation during seasonal temperature fluctuations.

Types of fasteners

One of the main questions: how to secure the block house, and for these purposes can be used:

  • nails;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • clampers.

Which fastening elements are best used for a blockhouse depends on the type and size of the panels. For example, with panel thicknesses up to 21 mm, you can use nails; if the thickness is more than 21 mm, it is recommended to use self-tapping screws.

But the main factor that should definitely be taken into account is the length and coating of the fasteners. It is recommended to use fasteners with anti-corrosion coating (galvanized, anodized, etc.) to avoid the appearance of corrosion marks during subsequent operation. The length of the fastener should be 1.5 times the thickness of the panel.

Siding panels can be fixed vertically or horizontally, it depends on the taste of the customer and the overall compatibility of the interior. But most often when facing facades the blockhouse is mounted horizontally to create a simulation natural home. When tiling the inside of a room, it is recommended to use the vertical direction. Very often, panels are installed in baths and saunas in this way, because... When the siding is positioned vertically, liquid does not accumulate in the grooves.

To decorate the inside of bathhouses, it is better to use natural wood siding

This one is very popular fastener, like a kleimer. Most often it is used for interior decoration in combination with narrow and thin boards.

How to attach a block house

You can start installing siding from both the top and bottom. It can be done different ways. Which method to choose depends on the customer.

Among the most common methods are the following:

  • tongue and groove;
  • using screws or nails;
  • using clamps.

The essence of the tongue and groove method is that the next board covers the fastener and it becomes invisible. The fastening method using self-tapping screws is most often used for boards with a thickness of 40 mm or more.

  • drill holes with a diameter slightly larger than the screw heads;
  • close these holes with plugs;
  • Place the self-tapping screw at the base of the tenon or on a cylindrical surface.

When fastening in this way, two self-tapping screws are used: one should be placed at the tenon, the other at the groove. When using clamps, installation is recommended to start from the top.

Docking and finishing of corners

The most problematic areas during installation are the corners.. In any case, when installing a block house inside or outside the house, a situation will arise when you have to make fasteners on different walls and connect the panels to each other. Actually, it's not that difficult.

The essence of the work is as follows:

  • when joining an outer corner, for these purposes you should cut the panel at 45° or use an outer corner. Decorative slats can be used as a corner;
  • When joining an internal corner, the end of the panel must be connected to the panel on the opposite side, while trying to match the surface relief.

Panels can be joined in the following way: nail a block in the corner, attach panels to it from different sides.

Final work

The final stage includes surface treatment. It should be noted that metal and plastic siding does not need decoration. It is recommended to coat wooden siding with wax or clear varnish, polish sandpaper and paint again with the same paint or varnish.

Subtleties and nuances

For exterior finishing natural block house uses wood coniferous species, which is naturally water resistant

When preparing and performing installation, you should take into account some subtleties recommended by experts:

  • when installing a block house inside with high humidity care should be taken to ensure that air enters from the opposite side of the cladding for natural ventilation;
  • When choosing panels for installing a block house outside, you should pay attention to panels made of pine and larch, the width of which is 100 - 180 mm, and the length is 6 m.
  • Before starting installation, it is worth checking the moisture permeability of the surface.

If the walls are made of materials that do not allow moisture to pass through, the vapor barrier stage can be eliminated.

The cost of doing it yourself and hiring specialists

As noted above, installing a block house when hiring specialists slightly increases the price of the work.

The approximate cost of installation work can be seen in the table:

You can do the work yourself, and, of course, installation will be cheaper.

How to properly fasten siding during installation metal block Do-it-yourself Hausa in the form of step-by-step instructions is outlined in this video:

Finishing the facade of the house or cladding interior walls require a material that will not only protect building structure from destruction, but will also decorate the building. Many finishing materials, different in shape, size, and performance properties, fit these parameters.

In private one-story construction for facade arrangement, preference is often given to wooden, metal or vinyl panels block house. This article will discuss what a block house is and how to install it.

Block house is quality material for cladding facades and walls inside the building. In shape it resembles a rounded log, sawn into two equal halves.

The quality of processing is much higher than that of ordinary wooden logs. For device interior partitions panels are used that simulate a full-fledged construction timber. Covering a house with a sidehouse means getting a complete imitation wooden building in the old Russian style.

Kinds

Block house panels are made of wood, metal or plastic (PVC).

Wooden

Widely used in decoration country houses and cottages. Wooden block house creates a complete imitation of a log structure. The main indicator is the quality of the wood. There are top-class panels without knots and cracks from the best varieties wood They are distinguished by their high cost.

You can choose more cheap option from wood of a lower class. Then there will be chips, cracks, and knots on the surface. The quality of processing is noticeably lower.

A wooden block house is an environmentally friendly and safe material for the human body that can be used to decorate any facade. Installation of elements must be carried out with extreme caution, as the wood may crack. A wooden façade must be treated with an antiseptic to inhibit rotting processes and also maintain a satisfactory appearance.

Metal

Imitation of wooden beams from bent metal profiles. It can only be used to decorate facades; it is not intended for cladding interior spaces. A metal block house is often used to install facades covered with insulation.

The cost of the material is much lower than wood. The metal block house is very durable. It protects the facade from all types of destruction. Does not deform from moisture, belongs to the class of fire-resistant materials.

Installing a metal block house is much easier to do with your own hands than installing wooden cladding.

Upon closer inspection, the façade of a metal block house looks worse than a wooden one. The sheets quickly heat up in the sun, increasing the temperature inside the building.

PVC

They are used when you need to get a facade similar to wood, but for less money. The PVC block house has a duller color. The panels do not need to be further impregnated with antiseptic. They can be used to cover dilapidated and damaged facades. They are not destroyed by moisture and ultraviolet rays. PVC block houses are easy and quick to install and are not afraid of open fire. They are distinguished by a huge selection of colors.

The panels are installed not just end-to-end, but taking into account deformation gaps. This can be difficult for inexperienced installers. Seasonal temperature changes can lead to damage to the integrity of the PVC panel sheathing.

Installation of block house

All types of panels are mounted on wooden or metal carcass. There are differences in the method of attachment. Wooden elements snap into special lock, it is almost impossible to make a mistake.

A deformation gap must be left between metal and PVC panels. With its help they are leveled temperature changes façade size. To increase the energy efficiency of the building, a layer of mineral insulation can be inserted between the wall and the cladding.

In addition to the block house panels themselves, many additional elements and frame parts are used to construct the facade:

  1. Lathing. Support frame comprises metal profile CD 27x54 or wooden beam with a section of 50x50, 60x60 mm. To attach the profile to the wall, I will use U-shaped hangers.
  2. Corner panels. Used to obtain neat joints of ordinary block house panels on internal and external corners building. Used to complement metal and vinyl facades.
  3. Slopes, ebbs. The ebbs are made of galvanized steel. The size is selected individually for each window. Often sills are installed together with plastic or wooden window structures.
  4. Door frames. Close the gap between door frame and a wall. Platbands are selected for a specific door. Can be wooden, metal, plastic.
  5. Insulation. For covering wooden or brick house outside the block house can be used
  6. Vapor barriers. Film based is used. One or two coats are required. It releases steam in one direction without allowing water to return
  7. Fasteners. To attach the hangers to the wall, you need a 40-60 mm self-tapping dowel. The profile is connected to the hangers using metal screws with a 25-40 mm drill.

The panels are attached to the sheathing in three ways:

  • On nails - for panels with a thickness of no more than 20 mm. The nail is driven into the ridge or body of the element.
  • Self-tapping screws are the most common mounting option. Only galvanized screws are used. If you use conventional ones, then smudges will appear on the facade due to corrosion of fasteners.

Clamps are clamps for fixing block house panels at the bottom or top. The clamps are attached to the profile using self-tapping screws.

How to calculate the consumption of a house block and additional elements

The number of block houses is calculated based on the surface area for finishing. To simplify the calculation methodology, you can not subtract from total area windows and doors. Then you don’t need to add 10% for cutting the material.

The frame is calculated based on the height of the facade. The standard profile installation pitch is 500-600 mm. The vertical installation pitch of U-shaped hangers is 600-1000 mm. For each suspension you need to lay 3-4 self-tapping dowels. To connect the profile to the suspension you need 2-3 metal screws.

Additional elements are considered linear meters or ready-made units.

Preparing tools for work

To avoid delays and downtime during the installation of block house panels, you must carefully prepare the tools:

  1. Laser level, mason's level, measuring tape, plumb bob, mason's string, marker or chalk.
  2. Grinder with metal discs, hacksaw, jigsaw, metal scissors.
  3. Hammer, screwdriver, screwdriver, mallet with rubber knob.

For a specific block house made of metal, wood or plastic, not all tools from the list may be needed. This is a combined list for all three options.

Preparing the outside of the house for paneling with a block house

Preparation begins with a visual inspection. If the house is made of wood, then special attention should be paid to lower crowns. What condition are they in, is there any fungus?

Stone houses are inspected for cracks in brickwork and their character. If the cracks are through and cross several rows of masonry, then there are problems in the foundation. brick wall can be treated with an antiseptic.

It is necessary to remove all hanging elements from the facade and install wiring for external lighting.

Installation of sheathing

Block house is produced in special panels equipped with spikes and grooves, so finish the walls ... Available in a variety of colors and easy to use installation. Possess light weight, so there is no significant load on foundation of the house. However, these panels are...

Using a block house as a finishing material allows you to transform any structure. After covering it creates the feeling that the walls were built from solid logs. But environmentally friendly materials are not cheap, and in order to save money, many developers are trying to figure out how to make a block house with their own hands and carry out installation without the involvement of specialists.

Pros and cons of coverage

The material is supplied in the form of semicircular panels of various sizes. As a rule, the width ranges from 90-190 mm, and the length can vary from 2 to 6 m. The thickness in the central part is usually 20-45 mm. Such dimensions allow installation work to be carried out without unnecessary discomfort.

Important advantages

  • The product price is low, so it is available to a wide range of developers;
  • The material is environmentally friendly, which means it is completely safe for the human body;
  • The panels can be installed independently, and this has a positive effect on the budget;
  • The products are made of wood, and therefore have low thermal conductivity, due to which heat losses buildings are going down.

Certain disadvantages

  • As a result of shrinkage, large gaps can form between the cladding fragments, which spoils appearance;
  • Additional protection from biological effects is mandatory;
  • Elements are not recommended for finishing objects with high level fire hazard.

Addition!
Installation of the covering makes it possible to level the side surfaces of buildings, since during the work additional support or beams are installed.

Independent production

It is quite possible to make a block house from slabs with your own hands or cut them from ordinary edged boards. To implement the plan, you will need special cutters with a diameter of 50 and 35 mm. The production of elements is carried out approximately in the following sequence.

Block house how to fix it

Block house is a facing material with which you can sheathe internal and external walls Houses. These boards have an impressive rounded profile that imitates a log. The radius of curvature may vary. Narrower and flatter panels are used for cladding interior spaces; for finishing facades, a wide house block is needed.

A traditional block house is made from high-quality wood. Recently, cheaper models made of vinyl and metal have appeared on the finishing materials market. They have the same name: “block house”, but in fact they are a type of vinyl and metal siding, which determines the technology of their installation.

Characteristics of a wooden block house

A wooden house block is a type of wooden lining and inherited from it all the design and installation features. As a result, on the back side of the panels there are two longitudinal gutters that serve as ventilation gaps.

Their presence is extremely important for cladding made of wood. Natural material– “breathable”, so it is necessary to ensure the ability to remove excess moisture. Vinyl and metal panels do not need this.

The relatively high price of a wooden block house is explained by the peculiarities of its production technology. Its stages:

  • For each log suitable for the manufacture of facing panels, 4 outer parts are cut down;
  • the resulting blanks are sent for chamber drying (10-12% moisture content of the lumber is achieved);
  • the workpieces are sent for machining, at the stage of which tenons and grooves are cut;
  • ventilation gutters are cut out on the back side of the panels;
  • form a rounded profile of the front side of the panel;
  • perform planing and grinding.

Dimensions of a wooden block house

The most popular dimensions of a wooden block house for exterior wall decoration:

  • height (thickness) up to 6 mm;
  • length from 140 cm to 4 m;
  • width 142 mm.

U finished product Deviations from the dimensions originally stated by the manufacturer are permissible:

  • up to 0.5 mm in width;
  • up to 3 mm in length.

Not all panels are made in accordance with the accepted size standard. Much depends on the characteristics of the base material: logs. Therefore, the market offers block houses of different sizes: 27/140/2000 mm, 45/190/3000 mm, 36/190/1400 mm, etc.

It is important to know: the number of panels in 1 m3 depends on their size. The manufacturer has the right to vary the number of facing boards per cubic meter of finishing material so that the covering area remains unchanged. For example, in a 1 m 3 block of a house 3 m long there are 158 panels. And in a 1 m 3 block of a house with a length of 2.7 m there will be 175 facing boards. The area that they are able to cover, in both the first and second cases, remains the same.

When purchasing a wooden block house, you need to pay attention to the radius of the profile. The higher the ridge, the fewer panels will fit into 1 m3. Accordingly, the cost of finishing the facade will be higher than when using classic material.

The block house with dimensions of 36/193/6000 mm is considered the most advantageous for exterior finishing. A cubic meter of this material can cover 27.75 m2 of façade area.

Grade of wooden block house

Depending on the quality of the wood, there are three types of block house: A, B and C.

Wood defects

"Live" bitchesNo more than 1 for every 1.5 m panelNo more than 4 with a diameter of up to 2 cm for every 1.5 m panelsNot limited
Resin pocketsNo more than 2No more than 2Diameter no more than 6 cm
Non-through cracksNo more than 2No more than 2No more than 10% of the panel length
Through cracksUnacceptableUnacceptableNo more than 5% of the panel length

Some manufacturers offer “Extra” class block houses. This material does not have any flaws, but its cost is quite high. According to consumer reviews, grade B panels are the most profitable, since they have affordable price and a small number of minor defects.

The most a big problem wooden facing boards - “dead” knots. They tend to shrink and fall out. A through hole remains in this place, which not only spoils the appearance of the facade, but also causes heat leakage.

Resin pockets are no less a nuisance. Most often they are found in pine products. These pockets exude resin, which absorbs dust and significantly reduces the aesthetic appeal of the facade cladding.

Choosing the type of wood for a block house

The block house is made from different breeds tree. Most often you can find cladding panels made of pine, larch, spruce, cedar, linden and black alder.

Of the coniferous species, the most inexpensive are spruce and pine finishing boards. But they have a significant drawback: resin leaks. However, spruce is not as resinous as pine. In addition, this wood (spruce) has a beautiful light texture.

Block house made of larch, which is also coniferous tree, has a higher price, as it has good strength and moisture resistance. Larch panels are distinguished by a wide range of shades from light golden to pale red.

The alder block house is notable not only for its spectacular wood texture, but also unique property This rock increases its strength with increasing humidity. As a result, alder boards have a long service life. Moisture resistant and durable panels extremely beneficial for cladding facades in areas with high levels of air humidity.

Linden block house is known for its low thermal conductivity, so this material is often used for interior decoration residential premises and baths. But it is also suitable for cladding facades. Linden is good for its absence of resin pockets, light texture, smoothness and non-splintering.

The cedar house block is considered to be the elite of this group of finishing materials. Cedar is known for its unsurpassed resistance to cracking, has a beautiful texture, is not resinous, strong and durable. A facade made of cedar cladding panels has all the possible advantages, but will require significant financial costs.

Wood block house installation technology

The walls of the house are not always smooth, so it will not be possible to directly attach the house block to them. First you need to build a sheathing that will ensure ease and quality of installation. To construct this frame, you can use both wooden and metal planks. But wood block The house is traditionally mounted on a wooden crate.

Selection of vapor barrier material

Depending on the type of material from which the walls are built, the following types of vapor barrier are used:

  • perforated polyethylene films;
  • polypropylene films;
  • foil sheets;
  • coating mastics;
  • two- or three-layer membranes.

For brick and concrete walls You can use coating materials, but it is worth considering that most compositions of this type are made on the basis of bitumen, so when the wall is heated, the mastic can emit a weak but specific odor. If you have household members with a sensitive sense of smell, it is better to avoid this option for a vapor barrier device.

Inexpensive vapor barrier roll material - polyethylene and polypropylene films, which can be reinforced or unreinforced. For wooden walls the optimal choice is “Izospan V”, which has good vapor barrier characteristics, but low strength. Therefore, when laying it you need to be extremely careful.

"Izospan B"

Roll materials are secured as follows:

  • measure the height of the wall and cut the canvas to the appropriate length;
  • alternately fasten the canvases to the wall, maintaining an overlap of 10-15 cm (use staples and a construction stapler);
  • cover the joints with wide self-adhesive tape;
  • the upper and lower edges of the film are fixed using a thin metal or wooden profile (or use the same staples and stapler).

If there is no need to install thick-layer thermal insulation, great choice– foil vapor barrier. The most popular are Penofol, Armofol, and Alucraft. They are attached in the same way as roll films. The foil side should be facing towards interior spaces, this ensures that heat is reflected back into the house.

A modern and more expensive option is multilayer “breathable” membranes. The most popular products of the TechnoNIKOL company. For wooden walls the best choice- Optima brand.

Dorken Delta PLUS and Dorken Delta LUXX membranes have excellent characteristics.

The installation of these materials is similar to the installation of roll films, but it is important to consider the side of the canvas. Manufacturers of membranes mark the front. It should not be directed towards the load-bearing base (adjacent to it), but towards the street.

Stages of installation of a wooden block house

Step 1. Preparing the base.

Old finishing material is removed from the surface of the walls: plaster and old paint, which hold weakly. The platbands that line the door and window openings are removed. Clean the wall from dust and remnants of the old finish.

Step 2. Installation of vapor barrier.

If a membrane, film or foil material is selected, installation is carried out in accordance with the instructions above. If a coating vapor barrier is used, the mastic is applied with a brush or roller with a fur coat rather than a foam rubber coat.

Step 3. Installation of the first tier of sheathing.

To construct the frame, use smooth, well-dried, antiseptic (coated with a layer of bioprotective composition) bars with a cross-section of 40x40 mm, 40x50 mm or 50x50 mm.

If there is a need to level the wall, the bars are attached to metal hangers, which are used when installing drywall. Suspensions are thin and narrow strips with perforations. Self-tapping screws are screwed through these holes.

In order to level the wall, you need a long bubble level. If possible, use a level or laser level. The main thing is to ensure that all the frame posts are located in the same plane. Sequence of work:

  • draw up a drawing in which they indicate the dimensions of the wall and the distances between the sheathing strips;

  • along the lines corresponding to the location of the frame posts, hangers are attached in increments of 40-45 cm (the upper and lower hangers should be at a distance of 12-15 cm from the corresponding edge of the wall);
  • strong threads are pulled at the top and bottom of the wall, which will determine the plane of the future frame;
  • bend the “legs” of the suspensions and install the block;

  • fasten the block through the perforation of the “legs” with self-tapping screws;
  • fix the lower and top part frame with horizontal bars of a similar section.

It is also possible to install sheathing with horizontally directed racks. In some cases, this option is the most convenient. The second-level planks should always be located vertically, so it is more convenient to attach them to horizontal rather than vertical supports of the first level of the sheathing. The block house installation technology allows for both options for constructing a frame.

Step 4. Laying insulation.

To insulate walls sheathed with a block house, you can use both rolled and sheet materials. The most popular are mineral wool and polystyrene foam. The insulation is placed in the openings between the first-level sheathing strips. Fasten with dowel nails.

Step 5. Installation of wind protection.

To protect walls from wind, special films and membranes are used. Tyvek, Izospan, Yutafol, Ondutis A100 or Ondutis A120 are recommended. Installation of windproof membranes is similar to installation of vapor barrier films.

Step 6. Installation of the second level of the wooden frame.

At this stage of work, the same materials are used as when installing the first tier of sheathing. But hangers are not needed here. Wooden blocks are attached in increments of 60-65 cm (if the first tier is mounted from horizontal slats) and directly to the posts of the first level of the sheathing (if its slats are vertical).

Step 7. Installation of the block house.

Both horizontal and vertical mounting of the block house is possible. But traditionally they use the first. If you have experience working with lining, installing a block house will not cause any difficulties. The finishing principle is the same.

  1. A thread is pulled along the wall at the level of the lower edge of the first panel, which will serve as a guide when installing the first row of the house block.
  2. At an angle of 30° in the direction from the front side of the panel, cut off that end of it that will border the adjacent panel to the right or left. This is necessary for a tight and even joining of the boards.
  3. The first lower panel is unfolded with the tenon facing up, aligned along the thread and attached to the sheathing posts.

To clad the façade with a block house, additional elements will be required: decorative wooden planks, external and internal corners, platbands for decorating window and door openings.

The spectacular appearance of the facade will be ensured by two-color tinting of the boards. To do this, the block house is painted lighter, and decorative elements into a darker color. Experts recommend tinting (or varnishing) a house block twice: before installation and after it.

Methods of fastening a wooden block house

The panels are fastened using self-tapping screws, staples or clamps. Self-tapping screws are more suitable for fixing a thick house block. If these fasteners are used, then they are screwed into the tenons. In this case, the board that will be installed on top will hide the self-tapping screw. This will prevent you from spoiling the appearance of the finish.

The second option for fixing the house block with self-tapping screws is as follows:

  • holes for self-tapping screws are drilled in the lower and upper parts of the panel;
  • install the panel on the wall and secure it;
  • While drilling holes, sawdust is collected, which is mixed with PVA glue and covered with the resulting slurry on the fastener heads and the recesses around them.

If staples are used, their “legs” should be 5-7 mm longer than the thickness of the tenon. To drive staples, you need a fairly powerful construction stapler.

Most convenient option installation - fastening with clamps. That's what they call it metal plates with holes for entry of nails and screws. Fastening with clamps is traditionally used for interior decoration. For facades, this installation method is convenient if the panels are thin and narrow. Work order:

Installation of corners from a wooden block house

There are several options for arranging internal and external corners from a block house. The most obvious is to saw the ends of the boards at an angle of 45°. This method is inconvenient because it is not always possible to achieve tight joining of the panels. Cutting at a certain angle requires professional skill and special equipment. Therefore, the method of sawing off the ends is used infrequently.

Construction of an internal corner from a block house using a template

The external corners of the cladding of a block house cannot be drawn using templates. To decorate these corners, additional elements are used: wooden decorative corners. But it will not be possible to install them close to the block house, so there will inevitably be gaps, but this corresponds to the installation technology.

Video - Exterior decoration of a block house

Manufacturers of vinyl block houses managed to replicate in this material not only the shape of a rounded log, but also the structure of the tree. A house lined with such siding looks like a real log house.

What is good about a vinyl block house? First of all, because, unlike natural wood, it does not require such careful maintenance. Vinyl does not require painting or varnishing. With it there will be no problems with the release of resin and harm from insects.

Of all the vinyl sidings sold in Russian market, the most spectacular is from Holzplast. But it costs no less than its natural analogue - a log. However, during operation it will not cause any trouble.

The manufacturer Holzplast has developed a special system for fastening panels and additional elements for the Holzblock product line. It is significantly different from the one used when installing a standard vinyl block house. Therefore, when purchasing Holzblock siding, you will need to study the instructions supplied by the manufacturer. All other types of vinyl block houses are attached to the facade according to the same rules.

Vinyl block house installation technology

Installation of a vinyl block house is similar to installation of conventional siding. But there are some peculiarities that you need to know about correct installation panels.

The vinyl block house can be mounted in the direction from bottom to top or from top to bottom. Installation in the bottom-up direction is used if it is not possible to accurately determine whether horizontal trimming of the panels will be necessary. This cladding method is more convenient, so it is used more often.

When installing a wooden block house, connecting decorative strips are installed after covering the entire wall, and when laying a vinyl house, before installing the panels. Each sheet of vinyl block house is inserted onto the connecting strips at both ends, and only after that is attached to the frame.

For a vinyl block house, they build not wooden, but metal sheathing. Its installation is carried out according to the same rules that are used to build a frame for a wooden house block. Namely:

  • all racks must be located in the same plane;
  • hangers and self-tapping screws are used to install racks;
  • in the lower and upper parts of the wall, the vertical frame strips are connected horizontally.

Preparing walls for cladding is carried out as follows:

  • attach a vapor barrier membrane;
  • install the frame;
  • lay insulation;
  • on top thermal insulation material and windproof film is laid on the frame posts;
  • since the sheathing strips will be closed, they are duplicated wooden blocks, which are attached to each frame support along its entire length.

In this way, the ventilation gap required by the technology is obtained. After this, they begin installing the vinyl block house. This will require not only panels that imitate a log, but also a set of additional (finishing) elements, which includes:

  • starting bar;
  • finishing bar;
  • connecting strip;
  • J-chamfer;
  • J-trim;
  • outer corner;
  • internal corner.

Procedure for finishing the facade with a vinyl block house

The panels are fastened with self-tapping screws so that they are not tightly pressed to the sheathing. This is necessary for the free movement of the house block, which will slightly increase in size when heated by the sun and shrink at low temperatures.

Caring for this type of façade finishing material is simple: summer period it is washed with water from a hose or wiped with a damp cloth.

Against the backdrop of a commitment to environmentally friendly materials, fashion for wooden houses is only increasing. However, today a house made of real logs is very expensive pleasure! That is why, among all the finishing materials, the block house stands out, the installation of which you can do yourself.

Block house - a log house without a log house!

In England, where this name comes from, block houses are houses assembled from blocks. In our country this word has taken root in relation to finishing material, which so successfully imitates the texture log house. With rising prices for natural wood This finishing option is convenient for both users and manufacturers - the former receive a fashionable and sought-after material at a price significantly lower than the cost of a log house, and the latter receive a double benefit. The fact is that a block house is made from the side, rounded parts of a tree trunk, and the square obtained after sawing is used on timber, boards or lining.

The block house is suitable for both interior and exterior decoration - having completed a complex of works, you will achieve a truly high degree of plausibility of the origin of the house.

For interior decoration, two classes of block houses are used: “Extra” and class “A”. In the first case, the consumer buys the most expensive block house, the feature of which is a perfectly flat surface, the absence of knots, darkening, and mechanical damage. In the second case, there may be small knots in the package, and the surface may not be so smooth. However, if we talk about believability, then the too ideal block house “Extra” can precisely raise suspicions about the origin of the house.

Classes “B” and “C” are used for exterior finishing. Products may have some darkening, knots, bark residues, and cracks. But for all classes, one condition is the same - the installation of the panels occurs according to the same scheme, which can be done with your own hands. No special skills are required for this; your desire and a small list of standard tools will be enough.

Choice of material – what you shouldn’t skimp on!

Peculiarities installation work largely depend on the degree of various compositions that prevent aging of wood, exposure to atmospheric phenomena, fungus and various microorganisms. If manufacturers have developed standards for external compliance with classes, then everyone determines the degree of processing independently.

That is, theoretically, you can find products completely without treatment with chemicals - on the one hand, they will cost much less, on the other hand, such a block house will have to be processed independently, that is, you will immediately spend the money saved on the purchase of the necessary products. If you decide to do without treatment at all, then you are taking a serious risk - even indoors, the block house will be susceptible to wood borers, mold, burning, deformation, not to mention the catastrophic consequences of using untreated material for the exterior decoration of the building.

Therefore, it is much more economical to buy material that has already been processed. True, you need to clarify exactly what kind of treatment it went through - if it is ordinary painting the necessary compounds, then you could do all this with the same success. Best processing considered vacuum-hydraulic, for which special pressure chambers are used. The panels placed inside the units are first exposed to a vacuum, due to which they get rid of air and excess moisture in the smallest capillaries, and then hydraulic pressure compositions pumped inside for wood processing: fire retardants, antiseptics. Under the influence of pressure, the compounds penetrate into the wood to a depth of 5 mm! You will not get such results at home. By buying a block house treated in this way, you will spend much less time in the future maintaining its condition.

Block house - indoor installation methods

In addition to the block house itself, you will need other materials: screws, insulation, vapor barrier, wooden slats. A drill, a screwdriver, a hacksaw or a jigsaw will suffice as tools. Safety rules do not require any special actions, except that it is better to wear gloves. The instructions for installing a block house inside and outside have some differences, but they are all within the framework of understanding.

Before finishing, the block house should lie for several days in the room where the work will be carried out or outside, under a canopy, if installation will be carried out on outside. Correct installation block house - this is installation in the warm season with stable temperature and humidity. In winter, installation can only be carried out indoors where there is good heating. For external work, a thicker block house (40 mm - 45 mm) is most often used, since it is less susceptible to deformation. works can reach a thickness of up to 25 mm.

To install a block house on the corners, you will have to show all your skill in cutting the material at an angle of 45°. To hide the inner corner, you can fill the cracks with veneer of a similar color, and attach a plastic corner with a wood color to the outer corners.

It hardly needs to be said that the block house is mounted horizontally. No one forbids vertical fastening, but then all the charm of such a finish is lost. Indoors, panels can be attached directly to the wall, without additional sheathing, if the surface is flat and allows screws to be screwed in.

For fastening, use both regular and special self-tapping screws, which are sold at any hardware store. The fasteners are screwed into the base of the groove so that the tenon of the subsequent board hides it from view. It is important that the groove always faces down - in this case it is protected from moisture accumulation.

Block house - installation technology from the outside

From the outside, the installation process is somewhat different. Most often, a block house is attached to a pre-prepared frame made of slats or regular boards, located vertically in increments of 50 to 70 cm. The gap between the wall formed by the sheathing should be used for additional wind and heat insulation.

It is most convenient to use slabs mineral wool, the width of which is exactly what the sheathing pitch should be selected for. Having laid the mineral wool between the slats, it should be separated from the block house with a layer of wind protection. This way you isolate the materials from each other and create very reliable insulation.

Since the outer block house is usually thicker, you will definitely need a jigsaw for the work, since you will very quickly get tired of sawing such an amount of material by hand, and it is difficult to make a manual cut perfectly even.

If you purchased classes “B” and “C”, then before you begin directly installing the panels, inspect them. Since these classes allow the presence of cracks, crevices and holes from knots, it is advisable to treat all these defects with a special wood putty. If the boards have knots that could fall out when the humidity changes, it is better to knock them out and re-glue them with wood glue. After the glue has dried, it is also recommended to cover the knot with putty.

The block house should be treated with impregnation regularly every few years. This is done in order to renew defense mechanisms compositions with which the panels are impregnated. Before processing, get rid of dust and dirt, and then use a roller to apply a layer of impregnation, tinting paint brush hard to reach places.
