Stoves made from car rims: what can and should be made, good options. We make a barbecue, a barbecue, an oven from car rims Do-it-yourself homemade products from rims

What do you need to stay warm and cook without gas or electricity? That's right - make a fire. This is what our ancestors did, and for modern man safety and convenience come first. To “secure” an open fire, stoves, barbecues, and potbelly stoves are used.

Why car wheels?

Craftsmen always find non-standard solutions their tasks. Why invent something when you can buy something ready-made? Stationary stoves and barbecues are expensive, and the thickness of the metal in collapsible structures does not promise a long service life. An alternative is homemade wheel rims. Their advantages are cheap and fast production, availability of materials, practicality and original design.

The discs themselves have the required thickness and fire resistance. The shape and size are convenient for further use of the product. The round shape is ideal for installing a cauldron.
Discs can be used to make not only a cooking device, but also a heating source for a garage or workshop.

General points and what will be needed?

Despite the ease of manufacture, to implement the idea you will need skills in working with a drill, grinder and welding machine.

The materials you will need are 1-5 discs, asbestos thread for insulation, metal scraps, a metal pipe for the chimney, metal corners or plates for the legs. Fasteners and hinges.
The diameter of the discs can be any. Only if you make a stove for a cauldron, you need to adjust it in such a way that the cauldron with a round bottom is lowered halfway into the fire.
Let's look at several options from the most basic to more complex designs.
Stove for a cauldron: simple and quick for temporary use. Manufacturing will take several hours. We take 2 disks and cut out the core from the top one. Next, we weld the two parts, mark the contours of the future door and cut out a “window”. We hang the cut-out metal door on hinges.

This option does not have chimney and a tray for collecting ash. But if the fireplace is needed for a short period or season, then it may not be worth complicating it.
For convenience, the structure can be raised on high legs made of small-diameter metal pipes. The absence of an ash tray makes it necessary to arrange a fireproof place. It is enough to remove the turf and cover it with bricks.

If you weld comfortable handles and paint them ready product heat-resistant paint - you will get a noble stove for frying meat. A cross made of metal rods is welded onto the hole in the bottom to prevent spillage of unburnt coals.

You can even weld the bottom with a thick sheet of iron and close all the cracks. In this case, all the heat will remain in the firebox. In this example, the method of manufacture is interesting homemade loop. The door itself is made separately and then welded - this way there are no gaps for smoke to escape.

Such work will take more time and require the skill of a welder, but the finished stove will look presentable and the cooking process will be more comfortable.

Brazier and grill from one car wheel

One old disk can be used to create a stylish hearth with a removable grill grate. All you have to do is weld the legs, paint and make metal grill by diameter.
The small-diameter disk on three high legs is convenient to carry to the desired location and put away for storage. Making a grille with handles will take the most time, although it is quite possible to choose a suitable purchased option and adapt it.
Before painting, you need to thoroughly clean the surface, and afterward, do not forget about calcination. Following the application technique will prevent the paint from peeling off during further use.

For greater comfort, instead of legs, the old disk is mounted on a stand, which is screwed to wooden base on wheels. In this case, the wood is treated with Danish oil, which can be purchased at a specialized knife-making store.

An interesting, but more labor-intensive option from the disk large diameter, welded to a stand with a hanging grate on chains, which, if necessary, can be replaced with a cauldron.

A fireplace for a cauldron according to all the rules: step-by-step production The manufacturing process includes the following main stages:
in the upper disk we cut a hole for the cauldron (it is better to try it on so as not to make a mistake with the diameter), removing the central part;
we connect two disks by welding;
We cut out a hole for the door with a grinder and weld the hinges (it’s more convenient to do them before the hole is completely cut);
We weld a latch to the door from a cut piece;
clean and paint ready-made device heat resistant spray paint in a can in two layers; We weld three pieces to the lower disk metal pipe as legs; We attach homemade handles.

You can also improve the fireplace stand for the cauldron by adding a chimney and an ash pit. This design can be placed anywhere.

Potbelly stove for a garage: a thorough approach In the example under consideration, the firebox consists of 3 old disks, plus one for the ash pan and another one for smoke removal, which increases heat transfer.

Stages of work:
We weld the disks together, having previously cut off the core in the first three, except for the top one;
We weld 4 legs from metal corners;
we cut a hole and make a door to size from pieces of metal;
to seal the firebox, we insert an asbestos thread along the contour;
cover the top of the 4th disk with metal;
add a 5th disk at the bottom and make a hole in it to collect ash and a blower, completely cover the bottom with a metal sheet;
make a hole on the side of the 4th disk and weld a pipe to remove smoke;
After polishing, you can paint it with heat-resistant paint.

In the example, the pipe has an angle of 90º, which, according to experts, will cause frequent clogging with soot. It is more practical to make an angle of 45 or 27º.

Car rims not only hold the tires and provide movement for the car, but are also part of it. appearance, therefore they are subject to very high requirements. In case of the slightest deviation, the disks are replaced, because the cost of a new part cannot be compared with the costs you will go through to eliminate the consequences of an accident due to a defective disk. Next, we will tell you how you can give a second life to these car parts and what can be made from them.

Disc processing

There are discs various types, however the most popular are:

  • stamped and forged steel;
  • light alloy cast and forged;
  • titanium cast and forged.

The first ones can be cut without any problems with an autogen or plasma cutter, welded with an inverter and cleaned sandblaster. The latter can be cut and cleaned by any means, but for welding you will have to use a semi-automatic machine with an argon cylinder. The third type of disc can be easily cleaned with a sandblasting machine, but cutting it with any tools is not easy due to the high strength of the metal. To weld, you need a special inverter that produces D.C. of sufficient size and cylinders with argon or helium.

For cleaning any discs, a sandblasting gun with air compressor and sifted sand. You should not clean the metal surface with solvents, because they cannot even completely remove paint, leaving oil traces and, moreover, they will not cope with rust. Another advantage of the sandblasting machine is that after processing it, the surface of the disc becomes perfectly clean and does not require degreasing before painting. When working with sandblasting, be sure to wear protective equipment, including goggles and a respirator.

Any powerful inverter capable of working with 5 mm electrodes and delivering up to 200 amperes of operating current is suitable for welding steel disks. However, many use electrodes with a diameter of 2–3 mm and a much lower current, because the weld is not subject to maximum loads.

What can be done

Here is a short list of what can be made from old rims:

Light alloy wheels are best suited for creating a shell, but stamped ones can also be used. To make a sink, clean the metal of paint and rust, then weld all the holes except the center one on the outside. For maximum effect Weld the patches so that they form a smooth surface with the inside of the entire part. Then, first with a grinder, then by hand, clean and polish the inside of the disc to a mirror shine. Insert the sink blank into the cabinet prepared for it and install the siphon. The faucet can be installed either in place of the nipple or on the cabinet, whichever you prefer. It is advisable to cover a steel sink powder paint or electroplate it with any protective metal, such as zinc.

Bar stool

There are many ways to make a bar stool, but any of them will require at least three sandblasted rims. In addition, you will need a round seat from a real bar stool, which you can either buy or make yourself.

To make a flowerpot, just turn the wheel rim, cleaned of paint and rust, face down, place it on the ground and fill it with soil. If you are not satisfied with its natural color and want to protect the metal from rust (only relevant for stamping), then coat it with powder or any other paint suitable for metal and outdoor work.

For this, it is advisable to use forged or stamped steel wheels, because light alloy wheels are afraid of strong heat, and titanium wheels can be used in more worthy ways. To make a stove, you need to place two steel disks on top of each other, turning them towards each other internal parties and boil at the joint, then cut a hole for storing firewood. The finished stove will need to be placed on bricks or stones so that air can pass between its lower edge and the ground without problems. If several holes are cut in the outer sides of both disks, then the stove can be placed directly on the ground, and a pot or frying pan can be placed directly on it.

To make a barbecue you will need a cleaned disk and a corresponding shaped grid made of steel rod with a diameter of 7–10 mm. Weld legs of a suitable length to the outer part of the disk to make it more convenient to work with the grill, and weld the simplest loops for the grate to the inner part; they can be made from a rod and tube.

To make a table you need a cast or forged light alloy wheel with beautiful design knitting needles and round glass with a thickness of 10 mm or more. Place the disc face up on the table using special glue. If you only have regular superglue, then place the glass on the disk and use a marker to trace its outline along the outside of the glass. Then degrease the contact points on the metal and back side glass with any alcohol-containing liquid.

After the alcohol has dried, quickly apply glue to the metal surface in the contact area and on the back of the glass, both adhesive layers should be 2-3 mm wide and completely symmetrical. Immediately lightly sprinkle glue on the glass baking soda and place the glass in place, pressing it lightly. Since you will only have one attempt, we recommend that you carefully practice this operation before applying the glue. Lastly, remove marker marks from the outside of the glass.

The era of computer disks is coming to an end. People who use CDs as a storage medium are becoming increasingly rare.

Many people still have old discs at home, and only because it’s a shame to throw them away. But don’t rush, you can make a lot of interesting things out of them. On the Internet you can see a large number of photographs of handmade CD crafts. This exciting activity will be enjoyed not only by adults, but also by children.

Making crafts from computer disks is relaxing nervous system, develops imagination and perseverance in children. There are plenty of examples where you can repurpose outdated CDs. These can be small crafts, decorative elements for the interior, and so on. You can consider the most interesting ideas, using old disks.

Roof of the building

For some reason, many people have simply a huge amount of CDs in their homes that are no longer used for one reason or another. From this amount, you can get an original roof for your house. It will sparkle and shimmer in different colors.

This exciting undertaking should begin by attaching disks to sheet plywood. Then the finished plywood can be attached directly to the rafters. The approximate calculation of computer disks per sheet of plywood of 1 square meter is around one hundred pieces.

You need to fasten disks to plywood like this: the initial row of disks should be fastened back to back, in the second and all subsequent rows, the disks should be fastened in order chessboard. To attach CDs to sheet plywood, you can use nails large sizes or self-tapping screws.

When creating a roof from old computer disks, you can get creative and lay out a drawing, which should be pre-thought out and calculated.

If you don’t have many CDs, but still want to stand out and decorate your home, you can use them to make an original porch roof.

Decorative elements for decorating a personal plot

Having a wild imagination, you can create a lot decorative elements for your garden. Like, for example, the British artist B. Monroe is extremely popular thanks to his amazing works. He made shiny lotuses out of computer disks in a pond on his property. For his masterpiece, he collected about 65 thousand discs.

When making crafts from old CDs for your garden, you can take an idea from the Internet and create, for example, a gorgeous peacock. CDs are attached to the tail frame using wire, with the shiny side facing up, and on sunny days, its tail will glow in a shimmer of bright colors.

While spending time with the kids, you can start making cute fish from disks. For this purpose you need to have several disks and cardboard different colors. If there is no cardboard, it can easily be replaced with multi-colored plastic.

Cardboard or plastic will serve as material for the fish's feathers, and the mouth is also made from these materials. After the individual parts of the fish are ready, you can assemble it using glue. The discs in this applique will serve as the body.

The second life of car rims

Sometimes car owners may have several old ones in their garage. car rims, which you can’t throw away, and it’s no longer possible to use them for their intended purpose.

Many motorists, having come across photos or videos on the Internet with ideas for DIY crafts from old car wheels, immediately get down to business. After all, from a seemingly unnecessary piece of iron, at first glance, you can create a miracle, an individual item that will have no analogues.

Any modern interior You can decorate it with a stylish coffee table made from an old car disc. To do this, you need to work hard and rub the disk until it shines, attach the glass surface to it and voila, the table is ready.

And there are quite a large number of such options for products made from car rims. They can even be used to make homemade lampshade for pendant lamp.

As a backlight ideal solution is a strip with LED flashlights that shimmer in different colors.

Using this iron, you can make stylish, even perhaps shocking, chairs for the bar counter. This piece of furniture will not leave anyone indifferent.

Photos of DIY CD crafts

According to the calendar, winter has long ended, but there is still snow on the street in places and frosts are occurring. If you work in a garage or workshop, there is an urgent need for heating. The best way A potbelly stove is suitable for this purpose; it will provide heat almost immediately, although it is not capable of accumulating it. There are a huge variety of such ovens, today we will look at another one interesting option- This is a stove made from old car rims.

At scrap metal collection points you can sometimes buy old car wheels for pennies. As a rule, they are already too dead to be installed on a car, but they are excellent for making a stove. The metal here is quite thick, which means that the stove will last quite a long time. The design discussed below provides a stove on which you can quickly boil a kettle, heat up soup, or even fry something in a frying pan. Everything is assembled quite simply, requiring a minimum of tools and skills. So, let's look in more detail at how to build such a stove.

Materials and tools used

List of materials:
- four car rims;
- Sheet steel;
- fittings;
- glass;
- door hinges;
- square pipes;
- heat-resistant paint;
- chimney.

List of tools:
- ;
- ;
- tape Grinder(not necessary);
- or drilling machine;
- roulette;
- marker.

Furnace manufacturing process:

Step one. Preparing the disks
In total, the author needed four disks to make the stove. The first problem is that the discs must have smooth edges, otherwise there will be gaps through which smoke will pass. Of course, the cracks can be welded, but it is much better to simply level the joints to reduce the gaps. If there are significant dents, we level them out with a hammer. Next, the author grinds the discs in a circle to perfectly smooth the contact area. It’s convenient if you have a swivel chair, put a disc on it, and it starts to rotate if you bring the grinder at a certain angle.

But that's not all, we need to finalize three disks. You need to cut out the central part from them; this can be done with a grinder. These three barrels will represent the “body” of the oven. As for the disk installed at the very top, heat will be better distributed through the holes in the disk, so it is better to leave this disk with a core.

Step two. Making grate bars
The grate bars are very important attribute stoves, thanks to them there is something to put firewood on to ensure air supply. To make the grates, the author decided to use reinforcement. We simply cut it into the required pieces and weld it inside the disk. You can also use a steel plate in which holes are drilled or slots are cut to make the grates.

Step three. Welding work
Now you can weld all the barrels with each other. The weld must be continuous if you do not want smoke to leak through the cracks. It is convenient to carry out such work with a semi-automatic device, but you can also do it conventional welding, the metal here is quite thick and it is difficult to burn through it. First, grab the discs point by point and make sure that the structure is assembled evenly. Place the disk with the intact core at the very top.

Step four. Making a support for the stove
The stove must stand on legs, and stand securely, as it is quite heavy. To make a reliable support, you will need sheet steel; cut out a circle of such diameter that it can be welded to the disk. For legs, cut four identical pieces square pipe and weld it to the base. That's all, we get an excellent support for the stove.

Step five. Making a hob
At the very top of the oven is hob, which will allow you to cook food. For its production you will need sheet steel, choose thicker one so that it does not burn out. We cut a circle out of it, the author grinds it on a grinder so that it is perfectly smooth.
The author decided to weld a part from a car pulley to the plate. What the meaning of this is is not clear. Probably to strengthen the structure.

Next, we mark the plate and make slots at equal distances along the edges, like the author’s in the photo. As a result, when you bend these plates, you will get a kind of “dome”. We now carefully weld this dome on top of the stove. It is important here that there are no gaps, otherwise smoke and fumes will inevitably leak into the room, which is very dangerous. The cracks that will remain in the plate also need to be welded well. Finally, we thoroughly grind the welds to obtain a monolithic structure. That's all, the stove body is finished, all that remains is to install the pipe, firebox and vent with doors.

Step six. Cutting out the combustion and ventilation windows
In total, the stove should have three windows, two of them are used as combustion windows, so that a lot of firewood can be loaded at a time. Well, the third small sizes, it is located below, this is the blower. We take a grinder and cut out windows in those places that can be seen in the photo. Now we need steel plates, we use them to make window frames and weld them into place.

Step seven. Installing the blower door
The blower door is made from a steel plate, cut to size and attached to the window using door hinges and welding. The door will need to be drilled and threaded. We tighten the bolt and as a result, we can now conveniently adjust the gap to control the air supply. Ashes will immediately accumulate here, which we do not forget to clean.

Step eight. We make fire doors
For the manufacture of firebox doors, sheet steel will also be needed, the difference between them is that the author decided to install glass in them in order to observe how the fire burns. We cut out windows in the doors. This can be done using a drill or grinder. To fasten the glass we weld metal plates. We attach the doors to the hinges using welding.

At the same step, you can install a locking mechanism for the doors. Here you will need sheet steel. How all this is done can be clearly seen in the photo. It is advisable to make the handle from materials that do not conduct heat well.

Step nine. Chimney
In the upper disk we have to cut a hole for the chimney. The author makes a hole in diameter such that the chimney fits tightly into it. The hole must have smooth edges, otherwise large gaps will be difficult to weld later.

The popularity of CDs is declining. Today they are being replaced from our lives by miniature flash media. But you shouldn't get rid of old disks. Laser media is a beneficial material for decorating walls, furniture, creating garden miniatures for the dacha, as well as for children's creativity.

When starting work, you should be careful and attentive so as not to get hurt. Cutting tools should be large and sharply sharpened.

If it becomes necessary to heat the vinyl during the process, do this outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, and also keep a container of water on hand to extinguish the fire if the materials ignite.

  • welding machine.

On bottom part weld the disk onto the sheet. This is necessary so that hot coals do not spill through it. large holes.

Place the nuts on the legs (do not tighten them all the way, so as not to accidentally weld the posts, and they could be removable). Weld to their locations on the structure.

Turn over the grill. Place the grid on the disc and trace it with a marker. Trim off all excess with a grinder.

Place the mesh in its intended place.
