False fireplace in your home: do it yourself. DIY decorative fireplace: how to build it False fireplace

Haven't heard from me for a long time step-by-step technologies, but I decided to correct myself and talk about how to make a beautiful decorative fireplace from an old cabinet and decorate it in a cool way. He will become great decoration for your home!

DIY decorative fireplace - side view

It was decided to use boards that remained after dismantling the old cabinet as the starting material for building the fireplace. The second alternative to chipboard boards was plasterboard sheets, but I decided to abandon this idea, because... then I would have to build a frame from a metal profile, but due to the lack of skills in working with metal profiles, I decided to do without it. You could also try to make a decorative fireplace from boxes, but then it would not be so strong and durable.

By the way, the portal already has a website step by step guide about how to make a beautiful one using a metal profile. In addition, this same article talks about fireplace decor options, so read this very interesting material!

Drawing of the future fireplace

So, we decided on the source material: it will be a chipboard board from the cabinet. Now let's talk about the size of the boards that will need to be cut. In order not to fully describe the cutting process and dimensions, I am attaching a photograph with a drawing of the future fireplace.

Drawing description:

  1. The width of the tabletop is 100 cm.
  2. The length of the tabletop is 25 cm.
  3. The height of the side, rear and front boards is 115 cm.
  4. The width of the fireplace is 95 cm.
  5. The length of the fireplace on the side is 22 cm.
  6. The width of the facing boards on the sides is 30 cm.
  7. The width of the front center is 35 cm at the top, height 45 cm.
  8. The width of the front center - bottom - 35 cm, height 30 cm.
  9. The dimensions of the “firebox” are width 35 cm, height 45 cm.
  10. Internal wall 1 - width 15 cm, height 40 cm.
  11. Inner wall 2 - width 15 cm, length 35 cm.

In the next photo you can see a cabinet that was disassembled and taken to the garage where my husband cut the boards into its constituent structural elements.

Old wardrobe- this is an excellent material for a fireplace

You can cut the elements that will make up the future fireplace using an electric jigsaw, but please note that all elements must be clearly marked using a pencil and a ruler (you do not need to rely on your eye). By the way, if it’s difficult for you to cut the boards yourself, then you can order the elements at furniture factory having previously provided the dimensions. If you bring your own boards, it will be cheaper, about 200 rubles per element.

DIY decorative New Year's fireplace: step-by-step instructions

After all the constituent elements are ready, the most intriguing part of the work begins. The intrigue is that if miscalculations were made at the previous step, then at the assembly stage the structure will not be assembled into a single component and some elements will have to be cut out again.

Assembling the back wall

The back wall in my case consists of 2 elements; it so happened that we were unable to cut out a part 95 cm wide and 115 cm high into a single component. But this is not a problem, because... you can fasten 2 boards using a block, and putty the joints between the boards decorative plaster, which remained in our house after renovation.

Sequence of work:

  1. We saw the bars to attach the back walls to them;
  2. We fasten the rear walls with self-tapping screws;

Attach the side ribs to the back wall

We've sorted out the back wall, pay attention in the previous photo, I deliberately left a few centimeters on the sides in order to attach the side ribs to the back wall end-to-end. The operation sequence is also quite simple:

  1. We screw the side ribs to the bars using self-tapping screws.
  2. We screw additional bars to the side ribs to secure the front wall and lid.

Assembling the front (front) side of the fireplace

The front side consists of 4 components, among which:

  • Front upper beam;
  • Two sides;
  • Bottom beam;

The width of the “firebox” opening is 35 cm wide and 40 cm high. Please note that later I slightly regretted the small dimensions of the hole in the fireplace, so I suggest you increase the firebox hole to 40 by 40 cm or 40 by 50 cm. This will give a more aesthetic appearance to your fireplace.

Please note that in order to secure our hole with the “firebox” we will have to attach 4 bars to the back cover, and attach the inner walls to them.

Attach the top cover to the fireplace frame

Well, the frame is almost ready with the exception of some details. What is missing? Right! The top cover is missing. This is what needs to be attached. The dimensions of the top cover differ from the dimensions of the fireplace, because... it should protrude 5-10 cm from all sides. Its size is 100 cm wide and 25 cm high. Next, consider an example of its attachment to the frame in the photo below.

The frame of our decorative fireplace is assembled. The next stage is his decorative design. In fact, the decorative design of a fireplace is the topic of a separate article in which all the points need to be described, but for your convenience I will try this material reflect all the main points on finishing the fireplace.

Find out how to do it yourself in the article on our portal.

Decorating a decorative fireplace with your own hands

When the fireplace is ready, it’s time for creativity, here everyone can try themselves as a designer. I really liked the role of a designer; I decided to decorate the fireplace using decorative stucco, which I decided to paint myself.

So, here is a list of steps I want to take to make my fireplace look like the picture:

  1. Plastering the fireplace at the joints of the boards and at the places where screws are screwed in.
  2. Painting the fireplace using white water-based paint.
  3. Gluing stucco to the fireplace.
  4. Decorating the “firebox” using mirrors and LED strip.

Fireplace plaster

When the fireplace is plastered, there comes a time of waiting. The plaster needs to be given time - 2-3 hours in order to dry, and then we will need to sand the fireplace using fine sandpaper.

After painting the fireplace, you need to give the fireplace 10-12 hours to dry. At this time, you can start decorating the stucco molding.

To paint the fireplace, I recommend using water-based paint, because... This particular type of paint has such qualities as: low cost, no odor. It is the second argument that is decisive in choosing the type of paint, because If you are renovating your apartment during the cold season, you won’t be able to leave the fireplace to dry on the balcony, and the smell of paint in the apartment can make you dizzy.

Please note that painting the fireplace water-based paint two layers will be needed. This is done in order to completely paint over all the elements.

Fireplace decor

As I noted above, I decided to choose plaster stucco as decorative elements. It is sold in construction stores and has long earned respect from people of creative professions. I would like to immediately note that if your main task is to do this economical option decorative fireplace, then a good alternative to stucco would be foam decorative elements.

I didn't use them because... It seemed to me that the stucco looks a little more expressive when painted. In addition, if you paint foam regular paint, then there is a high probability that it will dissolve under the influence of chemistry.

Next material, which I used to decorate the fireplace, is a ceiling plinth (not made of foam plastic), but made of the same material as the stucco molding (most likely it is solid polyurethane foam). The plinth will be useful for decorating the firebox of our fireplace. The photo below shows a sample design of the firebox.

In addition, decorative bricks were used to decorate the firebox, the cost decorative brick(decorative stone) is about 600 rubles per box, but I still have it after (my husband wrote about this technology).

The process of finishing a fireplace insert with decorative stone:

  1. From the outside, carefully apply glue (in my case Bergauf) to outside decorative stone;
  2. We attach decorative rock to the side wall of the fireplace;
  3. We fix the decorative stone with hand pressure and wait 10-20 seconds for the glue to “set”;
  4. Using a similar technology, we line the second wall of the firebox and the bottom.

Decorating a fireplace insert using LED strip

I'm continuing to finish the fireplace. The next material I will use is LED strip. LED strip can be purchased at almost any electrical store. I decided to use a red LED strip because... It is the red color that will emphasize the unforgettable atmosphere of warmth and comfort that looks like burning wood.

I will attach the LED strip to the corners of the firebox. Before attaching the LED strip to the fireplace, of course, you need to assemble it into a circuit in the following order: socket, cable, transformer, LED strip.

When connecting the LED strip, observe the polarity.

This concludes my step-by-step photo report on how to make a decorative fireplace with your own hands. If you liked my work, then please like this material.

Good luck with your work and have a beautiful fireplace!

It’s not difficult to give a room additional charm and comfort if you build a decorative fireplace using your skills ordinary tools and using your own imagination. For such an impromptu home, it is not required large quantity materials, often leftovers from repairs are used.

Varieties

It’s easy to pick up ready-made portals for indoor fireplaces in a store, but if you want, you can build a decorative fireplace with your own hands using different materials. The most common are portals made of brick, plasterboard, wood and laminated chipboard or MDF.

If we consider the classification of decorative fireplaces by functionality, the following varieties are distinguished:

  • imitation classic fireplace in the form of a portal with decoration and an empty niche;
  • reproducing an accurate image of fire using electrical devices;
  • Some models of decorative fireplaces provide an option to create an auditory imitation of logs crackling as they burn;
  • Availability additional function heating

Depending on the placement method, several types are classified:

  • wall;
  • corner;
  • mounted;
  • built-in;
  • island.

Construction stages

Construction algorithm artificial fireplaces for a house made of any materials is identical, and consists of several stages.

Selecting the shape of the portal, calculating the dimensions of each detail, drawing up a drawing. Transferring the main lines in an exact scale to the wall near which the decorative fireplace will be installed with constant control of the exact horizontals and verticals.

Choice of material for the base. A reliable and stable frame is made from a metal profile, but it is easier to make it from a wooden beam.

Wall mount aluminum profile(timber) using dowels. The frame is assembled with stiffening ribs if subsequent finishing will be done with heavy materials.

Sheathing the top surface and side planes

Preparing drywall for finishing involves applying a thin layer of putty followed by priming after drying. You will also need to apply finishing putty and prime.

Flame imitation devices are installed after the decorative fireplace has been finalized using finishing materials. Measures must be followed fire safety, if a model with heating elements. In this case, the walls of the niche are protected basalt thermal insulation with high fire-resistant qualities.

Home made from traditional materials

Drywall

Refers to a material widely used by home craftsmen. It can be easily cut with a sharp knife or electric jigsaw, allows you to make curved parts, for which you just need to wet it.

When designing decorative fireplaces using plasterboard, you need to pay special attention to the selection of finishes and calculation of dimensions if you decide to install a device with combined functions. In this case, the fireplace will not only delight you with a magnificent imitation of flame, but also heat the room.

For such models, the gap between the rear plane of the device and the wall is maintained at least 50 mm. Based on this, the dimensions of the future fireplace portal are calculated. For cladding you can take ceramic tiles, textured porcelain tiles. Gypsum stucco looks great.

Tree

DIY decorative false fireplace in 1 day

Solid wood for a portal is not a necessary material if you want to get the natural texture of a home. You can even make a decorative fireplace from construction scraps of plywood, MDF, and chipboard. This can be a board - parquet, unedged or edged.

It is more convenient to start work if an electric fireplace with the desired options has already been purchased. In this case, its dimensions and shape are known, so it is easier to calculate the niche when constructing the portal. The structure can be assembled separately using self-tapping screws, and only then attached to the wall. A bright decorative effect while preserving the wood texture is achieved by staining followed by varnishing. You can use tinted varnish.

Brick

To make a decorative fireplace with your own hands using bricks - silicate, hollow, facing, decorative, you must take into account that its weight will be quite impressive. For this reason, it is impractical to correctly assess the strength of floors. Such a retro fireplace at home looks great, without requiring additional finishing.

Using improvised means

You can make original decorative fireplaces for your home using a variety of available materials:

  • place inside an empty aquarium or a beautiful glass vase candles. You can use a miniature biofuel burner;
  • make a semi-volume decorative fireplace by gluing its configuration from polyurethane parts directly onto the wall and painting it in the desired color;
  • create a fireplace portal from a large cardboard box, decorating its surface to any texture using self-adhesive film;
  • bring into the interior a feeling of comfort from the presence of a mesmerizing flame with the help of photo wallpapers that depict the most different types fireplaces.

If you have the skills to work with metal, you can create a unique image of a fireplace portal from this material at home.

Finishing methods

You can decorate a decorative fireplace different ways. If desired, the portal is painted or made art painting. Fireplace surfaces with decorative plaster add a touch of aristocracy to the interior.

The use of finishing materials stylized as stone - balanced status granite, mysterious sophisticated marble or mesmerizingly beautiful malachite - gives the façade of the fireplace a special sophistication. The original composition is laid out if mosaic elements are used for cladding.

When designing decorative fireplaces for an apartment designed with elements of a classic style, you should pay attention to special tiles made with textured surface, reminiscent of tiles. The fireplace portal created with their help allows you to reproduce the unique atmosphere of ancient estates.

Video: Decorative panels and aged fireplace

They have served man faithfully for many centuries. Having entered the 21st century, we have retained our attachment to a cozy source of heat, but how to solve the problem in urban housing?

How to make a decorative fireplace with your own hands? Design and materials

It is obvious that our apartments are not suitable for construction of a full-fledged fireplace. Technically, this is a completely impossible task, especially in apartment building. However, for those who would like to decorate the interior with such an element, there is a solution, and it lies in the construction of a false fireplace. It retains the external signs of a full-fledged hearth, but does not require the installation of a chimney and firebox. Moreover, making a false fireplace with your own hands is a completely doable task.

Since imitation of a hearth does not require a radical reconstruction of the room and special skills in its installation, the design of a false fireplace depends only on the imagination of the home craftsman. The main thing is the frame of the hearth. It can be made from metal profiles, wooden blocks and slats, or simply use an overlay panel with a decorative firebox window. The dimensions of the interior element being constructed depend on the size of the room itself where it will be placed.

False fireplaces: varieties and features

When planning to install a false fireplace in the interior, decide which type is most suitable for you. Designers divide them into reliable, conditional and symbolic.

Decorative fireplace made from boxes

Reliable fireplace models

They carefully observe all the parameters of a real fireplace, except for the chimney outlet. Complete copying is achieved by installing a bio-fireplace burner or a regular one in the firebox. electric fireplace. Tiles, wallpaper, and stone are used to decorate it.

Conditional fireplace

A niche in the wall, a portal (it’s also easy to make a portal for a fireplace with your own hands), imitating a firebox hole and decorated candelabra, firewood and other attributes of a real fireplace. This model does not require great depth, 20 centimeters is enough, and you can add internal volume using mirror tiles, glued on the sides and back panel of the niche.

Symbolic false fireplace (painted fireplace)

It's more of a drawing on the wall than a full-fledged structure. It can be made from ordinary ceiling skirting boards, indicating only the form, without depth.

Product style: DIY fireplace made of brick, natural stone and wood

For lovers of antiquity, this could be a stylization of medieval models using. In the spacious living room, a voluminous false fireplace with a wide mantelpiece and a deep “firebox” niche, which is actively used for decorative details, looks great. This could be a stack of firewood, family photographs, or flower arrangements.

Decorative fireplace made of plasterboard

IN modern interior In high-tech or modern style, a false fireplace made of plasterboard takes on the most unexpected shape. It can act as a central element furniture wall and be filled with books or carry an individual load, presented in the form stylish art object made of black glass.

Advice! If you want to see the fire in the firebox, use reflective material (foil or mirror). Install electrical candles or LEDs - and a false fireplace will give you a feeling of warmth.

For the bedroom, empire or classic, made in warm colors. White panels with fancy stucco add a soft touch to the interior home comfort, and the decorative frame of the false fireplace with wood fills the room with the sophistication of aristocracy. In addition, this item can become a unique dressing table, if you place a mirror above it.

Despite the presence original solutions, the most popular remains the false fireplace with. Both professional and home designers choose candles for decoration. They are installed both in the firebox and on the mantelpiece. They are selected by size and color, arranged in various combinations, simply placed on the floor or placed in multi-tiered candelabra.

Artificial fire for a fireplace and imitation of a flame in a fireplace with your own hands

Some craftsmen resort to paints and paint the inside of the firebox with their own hands. With the right lighting, you get a stylish piece that resembles a burning hearth.

An effective solution would be to purchase a mobile false fireplace, which they will help you make in a furniture workshop, which will allow you not to tie the interior design to a stationary piece of decor, but to use it in different rooms.

IN pre-revolutionary Russia and other countries of the current CIS, fireplaces have always been popular as an interior detail and a functional element for heating homes. The 20th century, due to total gasification and the development of electrical networks, relegated fireplaces and other heating structures to the background - open fire in the room became a rarity. A century later, the fashion for fireplaces returned to the vastness of the Motherland, becoming a trend in the design of comfortable housing. It is difficult and expensive to equip a full-fledged fireplace in a city apartment, so inquisitive minds came up with an alternative - decorative fireplace made with your own hands.

As you may have guessed, the word “decorative” in in this case means that such interior items are not heated with firewood, but, definitely, in terms of comfort, they do the job 100%. The advantages of a decorative fireplace are the relative ease of manufacture, the possibility of using scrap materials and excellent aesthetic characteristics.

Given the apparent simplicity of this solution, you may naturally have a question: “how to replace a live fire in a false fireplace?” The first part of the article will tell you about methods for solving the problem.

Option one: genius in simplicity!

One obvious solution is to use Dec. candles in the fireplace. Firstly, they are smokeless, which means they do not require a hood. Secondly, they are practically safe.

Advice: Equip the back and side walls of the false fireplace with mirrors - the visual effect of similarity will increase.

Option two: wood creates comfort even without a flame

Another substitute for flames are logs: lay out the firewood in a picturesque disorder or in a “hut” - this will create the impression that the fireplace is working and a fire can blaze in it at any moment.

Option three: “Papa Carlo’s closet”

Remember, in the fairy tale “The Golden Key”, Papa Carlo has a painted fireplace instead of a hearth? Use this idea for your own interior! There are many variations in the implementation of this idea - from a black board (like in school) to printing on fabric or canvas.

If you choose a plane for drawing with chalk, you can update the drawing as much as you want, drawing not only the fire itself, but also anything that comes to mind. This choice is especially relevant for children - the slate plane within reach will open up great opportunities for children to be creative and develop artistic skills.

Option Four: Add Bookshelves

An option for using the interior space that may seem unexpected: install shelves in the false fireplace and place books on them! This solution has its advantages - freeing up space, originality and convenience. Perfect option– place a children’s library in the false fireplace so that young readers have access to their favorite fairy tales.

Option five, original: souvenir shelves

As you have already seen, designing a decorative fireplace opens up a lot of possibilities for creativity. Another way out is to place a small “museum” inside the fireplace portal. Here everything is limited only by your imagination and the presence of interesting interior elements. Anything you want can be used – from a collection of antique alarm clocks and figurines, to pictures and crafts.

Option six, festive: Hollywood will tell you!

This option is combined with each of the above. On new year holidays You can easily turn a false fireplace into a festive symbol - free inner space hearth from the contents, fill New Year's toys, garlands and balls, “snow” made of cotton wool, Christmas tree needles, etc. Don't forget to hang red socks so Santa Claus can put gifts in them!

Option seven, realistic: use an electric heater

If you want to not only admire the fireplace, but also feel the warmth emanating from it, install it inside electric heater. Many “antediluvian” models, even from the Soviet era (for example, “Ugolyok 3M”), are equipped with special flickering light bulbs that imitate the light of a fire in the hearth.

In the description of creating a decorative fireplace, which you will read below, we describe just the version with an electric fireplace, but in the same interior item you can equip everything described above.

Of course, there are many more possibilities for decorating a false fireplace. We did not have a goal to describe everything in the article - we wanted to direct your creative energy in the right direction. We hope we succeeded and you will come up with something original.

In the meantime, we will move on to the main message of the article - the process of making a false fireplace with your own hands.

Let's start creating a decorative fireplace with our own hands

To create the same false fireplace that we have, you will need:

  • Sheets or trims of MDF sheets
  • Pine board
  • Skirting trims
  • Old picture frames
  • Wallpaper scraps of any color

Stage 1: design

First of all, we need to create a project for a future decorative fireplace - “draw” it on a computer in order to determine all the dimensions from which we will “dance.”

Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the processing of the hearth opening, in which you will place a slate board, shelves with books or an electric fireplace.

So let's get started. Although MDF is not the most durable and suitable building material, it will fulfill its function in any case, and in terms of cost it is simply unrealistic to find something cheaper.

First of all, the base for the portal is cut out of MDF sheets according to the dimensions already known to us. Large details it is advisable to fasten them with bolts or screws, smaller ones are better to be glued together - we are not going into depth here, this stage is quite easy to figure out on your own. After the base is ready, we move on to the next stage - decorating the fireplace.

Let's make a reservation right away - we found the materials for making the fireplace in the pantry; you can use other elements that suit your taste.

Stage 2: trying on the first decorative details

We used pine boards to make the top panel. To move from the front wall of the fireplace to the top panel below, under the board, after preliminary fitting, we install a piece of wooden plinth - the more openwork, the better.

As you can see, we were a little short of the length of the pieces of the picture frame to cover the horizontal surface of the portal. However, there is nothing critical about this - if you have the same situation, don’t worry, later this gap will be covered by a piece of another element, the main thing is that it matches the frame (or whatever you have instead) in style.

Stage 3: selecting decorative details further

Below the line of the top panel, we initially planned to place different decorative details, which will create the main design of the fireplace. Anything can be used, just experiment. In our case, these were mosaic parts, old broken frames and just various wooden scraps.

Don’t let it bother you if you can’t imagine the end result – initially, we didn’t imagine exactly what would come out in the end. We advise you to simply use your imagination and simply lay out the elements in various compositions until you see what comes out beautifully.

In the image on the right you can already see final stage decoration: the parts are adjusted to size and put into place, although for now it still doesn’t look very clear to a beginner in this business.

Stage 4: completing the installation of decorative details

After the parts have “found their place,” we glue them onto paper (wood glue) - any textured thick paper or wallpaper with a three-dimensional pattern will do: texture is important to us, but color is not important, because in the end everything will be hidden by paint.

Stage 5: painting

When all the parts are glued, all that remains is to paint the almost finished product. To paint the entire surface, 1 liter of paint was enough for us (painted in 2 layers). And the portal immediately becomes like a real fireplace!

Finishing the lid in our case is a different story. You can keep things simple and paint it the same color as the entire portal; we decided to diversify color scheme– make a cover in a country style.

To achieve the antique effect, we treated the pine board with vinegar plus strong tea leaves using steel wool.

Stage 6: Installation

Well, the final step is installation. finished product in the house. Just bring it into the room and place it near the wall anywhere - voila, your fireplace is ready! If you want to make the structure stationary and more durable, you can tie it to the wall with anchors or liquid nails. But our practice has shown that this is not necessary, especially since a mobile fireplace opens up a lot of opportunities for frequent changes of decor: if you want, you can put a fireplace in the living room, if you want, you can put a fireplace in the nursery or living room.

Be that as it may, now you can give it a “lived-in” look by placing souvenirs on the lid, and in the opening - firewood, candles, books, a heater (as we have done) or whatever you come up with yourself.

As you can see, making a decorative fireplace at home with your own hands is quite simple and does not require any special skills or knowledge. If only you had the desire, the tools and the time, you could do everything just as well as we did. So go ahead, try it and create beauty for your home comfort yourself!

And we wish you and your family a comfortable holiday at home in front of a brand new decorative fireplace, made with your own hands!

Unfortunately, it is impossible to install a fireplace in the apartment that will work fully. Owners of private houses are luckier from this point of view - a fireplace can become a reality, especially if you plan it at the stage of designing the house. But if you really want to decorate your interior with a fireplace, then a decorative fireplace will be a worthy alternative. Moreover, you can make it yourself, and then your interior will be truly unique and inimitable.

Building a decorative fireplace doesn't really require any special skills. All you need is some time, a few construction tools and materials. As a rule, every owner has tools, but today you can also use rental services. And there will be no difficulties at all with the materials, since their selection in specialized stores is very large.

What could a fireplace be like?

What the fireplace will ultimately look like depends on general style premises. If the room is kept in classic style, then a square fireplace with stucco or bas-reliefs would be appropriate. It can be finished with marble or brick tiles.

If the room is made in the Art Nouveau style, then reflective materials can be used for decoration. For high-tech, it is recommended to pay attention to the shape of the fireplace - there may be non-standard acute-angled shapes and mirror trim. Today, country style in interiors is quite popular. Its signs are naturalness and simplicity, therefore the materials required are simple and even rough. Decoration decorative elements country style is not welcome.

When choosing material for a decorative fireplace, it is better to be guided by the degree of complexity of its processing and installation. You can of course use wood, brick or even stones. However, for an apartment such a design may be too cumbersome. Drywall offers great opportunities when working. We suggest considering the option of making a decorative fireplace from this material.

Decorative fireplace made of plasterboard

Drywall today is affordable and relatively inexpensive material. In addition, it is very easy to process and install plasterboard structures does not present any particular difficulties.

To work you will need:

  • drywall;
  • profile (metal);
  • self-tapping screws;
  • screws and dowel-nails;
  • Decoration Materials.

Let's take a step-by-step look at the process of making a decorative fireplace:

  1. You should start with a sketch. You decide on the location of the fireplace and draw a sketch. Based on the sketch, it is necessary to calculate the actual dimensions and quantity of required materials. If the fireplace is in the corner of the room, then you will have to assemble its frame separately and then install it. If it is located near the wall, then the frame can be assembled directly on the wall.
  2. We will consider the option of assembling the frame against the wall. Marks are placed on the wall for attaching profiles that will become the basis of the back wall of the fireplace. For fastening it is best to use dowel nails.
  3. Based on the sketch, you gradually build the entire frame. To give the structure strength, be sure to make jumpers approximately every 30 cm. Then the structure will be able to withstand decorative elements placed on the mantelpiece - clocks, figurines, books, etc. If you are planning an arched fireplace top part, then make preliminary cuts along the side of the profile and then you can give it the desired shape.
  4. Cover the finished frame with plasterboard using self-tapping screws. Actually, the base of the decorative fireplace is ready, and then it needs to be lined with the selected finishing materials.

Plasterboard facing can be very different- from painting to tiling. It all depends on the style you choose for the fireplace. Drywall itself is a very versatile material and makes it possible to improvise.

If you are going to paint, then pay special attention to the heads of the screws - they should be tightened well so that they do not stick out. In addition, you should prepare the surface for painting - prime it, cover it with putty and only then apply paint.

If you will be using tiles, follow the instructions for the brand of adhesive you choose. Do not forget that grouting is carried out only one day after laying the tiles. During this time, the glue will have time to dry well.

You can use other materials for finishing - it all depends on your imagination and interior design.

How to make a decorative fireplace “burn”?

When creating a fireplace, we, of course, want it to add coziness to the room, and imitation flames can be a solution to this problem. Today, devices are offered for sale that can be placed inside a decorative fireplace, and they will transmit the image of burning wood and even the characteristic crackling sound.

But you can approach this issue more creatively. For example, do back wall mirror fireplace and place logs and candles in front of it. More interesting idea- place a lamp inside and cover the firebox niche with translucent film. If the film is yellow or orange color, then it will create a warm glow effect.

There are actually many variations. And we are sure that such a decorative fireplace will become a magnificent decoration of any interior!
