  • If there is no need to adjust the slopes, then the following lines are precisely drawn from the resulting line;
  • If the geometry of the slopes is not entirely accurate, then it is better to slightly change the marked lines before laying, slightly reducing or increasing the overlap where required.

Even before starting installation, you need to mark the edge of the free overhang. To do this, hammer a nail into the end of the two outer rafters so that their heads mark the extreme points of the free overhang. Stretch twine is attached to the nails. On long slopes, it is better to hammer in more than two nails.

The starting sheet is laid according to the markings. The laid element is immediately fixed with nails. Note that it will serve as a guide for continuing the row and laying the next sheet on top, so it must be aligned with extreme precision.

The use of wind strips laid on the edge of the eaves eliminates the need to scrupulously level the starting sheet, but even in this case, you still need to constantly check the directions of laying the piece roofing. Nuances and order of fastening

Fasteners produced specifically for a specific collection of ondulin are installed strictly perpendicular to the sheathing. Nails are driven exclusively through the ridges of corrugated sheets with mandatory penetration into the wooden base.

The flexible slate is fixed in a clear sequence, which is not recommended to be violated:

  • First, fasteners are placed along the edges of the sheet.
  • Afterwards the middle of the element is fixed.
  • Then the remaining attachment points are installed.

It is strictly forbidden to knock down the sequence, otherwise the flexible sheets may become warped. The spatial geometry of the wavy element will be disrupted. It is forbidden to deepen the nails and tighten the fasteners too much, because the ondulin will flatten.

If you follow the specified sequence, then an accidentally deeply buried nail will have virtually no effect on the geometric shape of the wavy coating.

In one or two waves that go under the side overlap, fasteners are not installed, because these lines will be fixed along with the subsequent sheet. By analogy and for the same reason, fixation is not made along the top line of the sheet.

If you plan to install a wind angle along the gable overhang, the fasteners are not placed in the outermost wave of the starting sheet; it will be secured later during the fixation of this shaped element. The shaped part is attached to each batten of the sheathing through the highest point of the wave and the corner flange.

If you refuse to use the wind angle, fixation is carried out according to the same scheme, but without the shaped part. Nails are placed in each lath on the side, and nailed to the bottom beam through each ridge at the lowest point. In the middle, the covering is attached in the same way - through the top of the wave to the sheathing.

According to the calculations of experienced roofers, 22 nails are required to fix one corrugated bitumen sheet if the sheathing bars were installed in increments of 45 cm. It is advisable to carefully consider its location before installing the attachment point.

An incorrectly installed nail, of course, can be removed with a nail puller, but the hole from it will significantly reduce the airtightness of the roof. To create support during “pulling out,” you need to stock up on a piece of pipe whose diameter is equal to the size of the coating ridge.
