Control valve for Danfoss heating. Radiator thermostats Danfoss

In many countries, up to 40% of energy resources are spent on the needs of ventilation and heating of buildings. This is several times more compared to advanced European countries.

Need for use

The issue of energy saving is especially acute; this is relevant against the backdrop of a constant increase in energy prices. One of the devices that allows you to save thermal energy, is a thermostat for radiators; its installation reduces heat consumption by 20%. To do this, the consumer needs to choose the right design for the heating system, as well as carry out installation, you can find out about this by reading below.

Principle of operation

The Danfoss thermostat is designed to maintain a constant indoor temperature. Such devices were first used back in 1943. The mentioned company is a market leader in the production and sale of such units. Structurally, the devices consist of 2 main elements, namely a thermal head and a valve, which are connected by a locking mechanism. The purpose of the thermal head is to determine the temperature environment In order to regulate the impact on the actuator, the latter acts as a valve. It is designed to cover the flow of water that enters the radiator. This method of regulation is called quantitative, since the device can affect the flow of water that passes into the battery. There is another method, called qualitative, with its help the temperature of the water changes in the system. This is done through namely This element must be located in or the boiler room. The Danfoss thermostat has a bellows inside, which is filled with a heat-sensitive medium. It can be gas or liquid. The latter type of bellows is easier to manufacture, but does not operate as quickly as its gas counterparts, which is why the latter have become so widespread. When the air temperature level increases, the substance that is in a confined space acquires a more impressive volume; the bellows, stretching, affects the valve stem. The latter is moved downwards by a cone, which is designed to reduce the flow area. This allows you to effectively reduce water consumption. When the air temperature drops, this process occurs in the reverse order, and the volume of coolant increases to the optimal limit, which is how the Danfoss thermostat works.

Consumer Reviews

Depending on what type of heating system is used, as well as what the installation technology is, thermal heads and valves can be used to control the flow of water different combinations. If we are talking about a single-pipe system, then you should use a valve that is characterized by increased throughput and insignificant As users say, the same recommendation can be used in the case of a two-pipe gravity-flow system, where water circulates naturally and is not affected by forced impulse. If you decide to choose a Danfoss thermostat, you can install it on a two-pipe system, which is equipped with circulation pump. Moreover, according to reviews, the valve should be able to adjust the capacity. It is done quite simply, and there is no need to use a special tool for this. Once you have decided which valve to use, you should decide on the type of thermal head.

If you are interested in a Danfoss thermostat, the installation instructions for which will be presented below, you can purchase it at an affordable price. When determining the type of thermal head, you should know that it is offered for sale in some varieties. Thus, there may be a thermocouple inside. Among other things, it can be portable. Sometimes the regulator is external. Devices can also be programmable, in which case they are electronic. You can also choose a vandal-proof thermal head. According to users who have chosen a regulator with an internal sensor, this device should be installed only if it is possible to position it horizontally. Then the air in the room will flow freely to the body of the device.

For reference

After you have purchased a Danfoss radiator thermostat, you should familiarize yourself in more detail with the features of its installation. Thus, it is completely unacceptable to install it on a radiator in a vertical position. In this case, the heat flow will constantly rise upward, and increased temperatures from the supply pipeline and housing will affect the bellows. Ultimately, you will encounter the device not working correctly.

Customer reviews on choosing a thermostat

Home craftsmen especially emphasize that in some cases it is not possible to install the device horizontally. Then it is recommended to buy a remote one that comes complete with a capillary tube. The length of the device is 2 meters. It is recommended to place the device at this distance from the battery by installing it on the wall. Buyers emphasize that the inability to install the regulator horizontally does not always indicate the need to purchase remote sensor. There may be other objective reasons for this. The Danfoss thermostat, the principle of operation of which was described above, cannot be installed behind thick curtains, in this case, of course, the best solution will be the purchase of a remote sensor. Among other things, such a need arises when there is a heat source near the thermal head or hot water supply pipes pass. You can resort to this solution, and when the radiator is under sufficient wide window sill. In this case, the thermoelement may fall into the draft zone. Buyers claim that if at least one of the above conditions is met, then it is best to purchase a remote sensor.

Installation instructions

The Danfoss thermostat, reviews of which are presented in the article, must be installed using a certain technology. The first recommendation is to avoid installing the thermal head on the heater within sight. Batteries whose total power is equal to 50 percent or more of all that are in the same room should be regulated. Thus, when there are two heating devices in the room, the thermostat should be on one battery, whose power is more impressive. If you are interested in Danfoss - a thermostat, the setup of which is quite simple, you can purchase and install it. The first part of the device, which acts as a valve, should be installed on the supply pipeline. If it needs to be embedded into an already assembled system, the supply line must be removed. This work may involve some difficulties if the connection is made using steel pipes. The master will have to stock up on tools for cutting the material.

Conclusion

Danfoss is a fairly popular company on the market for relevant products today. The thermostat (how to regulate it is indicated in the instructions) must be installed on the radiator. The thermal head is then mounted without using additional tool. This is very easy to do at home, in addition, you will be able to save on purchasing consumables.

Specifications radiator thermostats type RA comply with European standards EN 215–1 and Russian GOST 30815–2002.

    Technical characteristics of thermostatic elements of the RA 2000 series

    The main device of the thermostatic element is a bellows, which provides proportional control. The thermocouple sensor senses changes in ambient temperature. The bellows and sensor are filled with an easily evaporating liquid and its vapor. The adjusted pressure in the bellows corresponds to its charging temperature. This pressure is balanced by the compression force of the tuning spring. As the air temperature around the sensor increases, some of the liquid evaporates and the vapor pressure in the bellows increases. At the same time, the bellows increases in volume, moving the valve spool towards closing the hole for the flow of coolant into the heating device until an equilibrium is achieved between the spring force and the vapor pressure. When the air temperature drops, the vapors condense and the pressure in the bellows drops, which leads to a decrease in its volume and movement of the valve spool towards the opening to a position at which equilibrium of the system is again established. The vapor fill will always condense in the coldest part of the sensor, usually furthest from the valve body. Therefore, the radiator thermostat will always respond to changes room temperature without feeling the temperature of the coolant in the supply pipeline. However, when the air around the valve is heated by the heat given off by the piping, the sensor may register more high temperature than indoors. Therefore, to eliminate such influence, it is recommended to install thermostatic elements, usually in a horizontal position. Otherwise, it is necessary to use thermocouples with a remote sensor.

    Selecting the thermostatic element type

    Thermostatic elements with built-in sensor

    When choosing a thermostatic element, you should be guided by the rule: the sensor should always respond to the air temperature in the room.

    Thermostatic elements with integrated sensor must always be positioned horizontally so that ambient air can circulate freely around the sensor. They should not be installed in a vertical position, since the thermal effect on the sensor from the valve body and heating system pipe will lead to improper functioning of the thermostat.

    Thermostatic elements with remote sensor

    Thermostatic elements with a remote sensor should be used if: o the thermoelements are covered with a blind curtain; o the heat flow from the heating system pipelines affects the built-in temperature sensor; o the thermoelement is located in the draft zone; o required vertical installation thermoelement. The remote sensor of the thermostatic element must be installed on a wall free from furniture and curtains or on a baseboard under a heating device if there are no heating system pipelines there. When installing the sensor, the capillary tube should be pulled out to the required length (maximum 2 m) and secured to the wall using the supplied brackets or a special gun.

    RAW series thermostatic elements

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW series are automatic temperature control devices designed to complete radiator thermostats of the RA type. The radiator thermostat is a direct-acting proportional air temperature controller with a small proportional band, which is currently equipped in heating systems of buildings for various purposes. The thermostat type RA consists of two parts: a universal thermostatic element of the RAW series and a control valve with pre-set capacity RA-N (for two-pipe heating systems) or RA-G (for a single-pipe system).

    The production program for thermostatic elements of the RAW series includes:

  • RAW 5010 - thermostatic element with built-in temperature sensor;
  • RAW 5012 - thermostatic element with remote temperature sensor;
  • RAW 5110 is a thermostatic element with a built-in sensor and a device for 100% shut-off of the thermostat valve.

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW series are equipped with devices for protecting the system from freezing, fixing and limiting the temperature setting. The RAW 5012 is equipped with an ultra-thin 2 m long capillary tube, which is wound inside the sensor housing and connects the remote sensor to the thermostatic element. During installation, the pipe is pulled to the required length. The clip connection allows for simple and precise attachment of the thermocouple to the valve.

    Technical characteristics of radiator thermostats with RAW series thermoelements comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002.

    To prevent unauthorized dismantling, the thermoelement can be fixed to the valve using a special lock (see Accessories).

    Technical characteristics of RAW series thermostatic elements

    The main device of the thermostatic element is a bellows, which provides proportional control. The thermocouple sensor senses changes in ambient temperature. The bellows and sensor are filled with a special heat-sensitive liquid. The adjusted pressure in the bellows corresponds to its charging temperature. This pressure is balanced by the compression force of the tuning spring. As the air temperature around the sensor increases, the liquid expands and the pressure in the bellows increases. At the same time, the bellows increases in volume, moving the valve spool towards closing the hole for the flow coolant into the heater until equilibrium is achieved between the spring force and the fluid pressure. As the air temperature drops, the liquid begins to compress and the pressure in the bellows drops, which leads to a decrease in its volume and movement of the valve spool towards the opening to a position at which equilibrium of the system is again established. To eliminate the influence warm air It is recommended to install thermostatic elements from the heating pipe of the heating device, usually in a horizontal position. Otherwise, it is necessary to use thermocouples with a remote sensor.

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW-K series

    Thermostatic elements of the RAW-K series are automatic temperature controllers with a small proportional band. RAW-K are designed for installation on thermostat valves from Heimeier, Oventrop or MNG, built into the design of steel panel radiators such as Biasi, Delta, DiaNorm, Diatherm, Ferroli, Henrad, Kaimann, Kermi, Korado, Purmo, Radson, Superia, Stelrad, Veha, Zehnder-Completto Fix. The thermostatic element of the RAW-K series has a liquid sensor with a temperature setting range of 8-28 ° C and is equipped with a device for protecting the heating system from freezing.

    The Danfoss company produces 3 modifications of RAW-K series thermoelements:

  • RAW-K 5030 with built-in temperature sensor;
  • RAW-K 5032 with remote temperature sensor;
  • RAW-K 5130 with a built-in sensor and a device for 100% shut-off of the thermostat valve.

    The RAW-K 5032 is equipped with an ultra-thin 2 m long capillary tube, which is wound inside the remote sensor housing, connecting it to the working bellows of the thermostatic element. During installation, the tube is pulled to the required length. Thermostatic elements of the RAW-K series comply with European standards EN 215-1 and Russian GOST 30815-2002.

    TWA series thermoelectric actuators

    Thermoelectric mini-actuators of the TWA series are designed for on-off control of various control valves in heating and heating and cooling systems of local ventilation units.

    TWA actuators, depending on the modification, can be used with valves of the RA, RAV8 and VMT series manufactured by Danfoss, as well as with valves from Heimeier, MNG and Oventrop, which have a thread for mounting the actuator M 30 x 1.5. If the actuator is used with other types of valves, the valve must be checked to ensure compatible geometry and proper closure. The supply voltage of the electric drive is 24 or 230 V. The valves can be normally closed in the absence of voltage (NC) and normally open (NO). In addition, the normally closed actuator with 24 V supply voltage is supplied with a limit switch (NC/S).

    Thermostat valves with pre-setting RA-N and RA-NCX DN = 15 mm (chrome plated)

    Control valves RA-N and RA-NCX are intended for use in two-pipe pump water heating systems.

    RA-N is equipped with a built-in device for pre-setting its throughput within the following ranges:

  • Kv = 0.04-0.56 m3/h - for valves DN=10 mm;
  • Kv = 0.04-0.73 m3/h - for valves DN=15 mm;
  • Kv = 0.10-1.04 m3/h - for valves DN=20 and 25 mm.

    Valves RA-N and RA-NCX can be combined with all thermostatic elements of the RA, RAW and RAX series, as well as with the TWA-A thermoelectric actuator.

    To identify the RA-N and RA-NCX valves, their protective caps are painted red. The protective cap must not be used to block the flow of coolant through the heating appliance. Therefore, the handle (code no. 013G3300) must be used.

    Valve bodies are made of pure brass, nickel plated (RA-N) or chrome plated (RA-NCX).

    The technical characteristics of the RA-N and RA-NCX valves in combination with thermostatic elements of the RA, RAW and RAX series comply with the European standards EN 215-1 and the Russian GOST 30815-2002, and the connecting thread size complies with the HD 1215 standard (BS 6284 1984). All radiator thermostats manufactured by Danfoss are manufactured in factories certified to ISO 9000 (BS 5750).

    To prevent deposits and corrosion, the valves of the RA-N and RA-NCX thermostats should be used in water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules technical operation power plants and networks Russian Federation. In other cases, you must contact Danfoss. It is not recommended to use compositions containing petroleum products (mineral oils) to lubricate valve parts.

    Adjustment to the calculated value is carried out easily and accurately without the use of special tools. To do this, perform the following operations:

  • remove the protective cap or thermostatic element;
  • raise the tuning ring;
  • turn the scale of the adjustment ring so that the desired value is opposite the setting mark "o" located on the side of the valve outlet ( factory setting"N");
  • release the setting ring.

    Pre-setting can be made in the range from "1" to "7" at intervals of 0.5. In position "N" the valve is fully open. Installation on the dark area of the scale should be avoided.

    When the thermostatic element is installed, the pre-setting is hidden and thus protected from unauthorized changes.

    Thermostat valve with presetting RA-N with press fitting

    The RA-N valve is intended for use in two-pipe water heating pump systems with copper or of stainless steel. Special crimping tools are required to connect the valve connection to the pipeline. Valve body appearance and technical characteristics are identical to standard valves RA-N DN = 15 mm. RA-N can be used with all types of thermostatic elements from the RA or RAW series, as well as with specially designed thermostatic elements such as RAX and TWA-A thermoelectric actuator.

    The RA-N control valve is equipped with a built-in device for pre-setting (installation) its flow capacity Kv in the range from 0.04 to 0.73 m3/h.

    To identify the valves, the protective cap is painted red. The cap should not be used to block the regulated medium. For these purposes, a special metal handle (code number 013G3300) should be used. The valve body is made of nickel-plated DZR brass and the pressure pin is made of stainless steel. The pin does not require lubrication during the entire life of the valve. The packing can be replaced without emptying pipeline system. RA-N should be used in water heating systems where the coolant meets the requirements of the Rules for the technical operation of power plants and networks of the Russian Federation. In other cases, you must contact Danfoss. It is not recommended to use compositions containing petroleum products (mineral oils) to lubricate valve parts.

    High capacity thermostat valve RA-G

    The thermostatic valve with increased flow rate RA-G is intended for use, as a rule, in single-pipe water heating systems with pump circulation of coolant that meets the requirements of the Rules for the technical operation of power plants and heating networks of the Russian Federation. The valve is not recommended to be used if the coolant contains mineral oil impurities.

    The RA-G is equipped with a seal that can be replaced without draining the heating system. The pressure pin in the stuffing box is made of chrome-plated steel and does not require lubrication throughout the life of the valve. All versions of RA-G valves can be combined with any thermostatic elements of the RA series.

    RA-G valves are supplied with gray (to identify them) protective caps, which should not be used to block the flow of coolant. Therefore, a special metal service locking handle (code no. 013G3300) must be used.

    Set of thermostatic fittings X-traTM for heated towel rails and design radiators.

    The X-tra™ thermostatic kit is specially designed for heated towel rails. It consists of a thermostat valve, a thermostatic element and a shut-off valve with drain function. The innovative self-sealing connection of the valves to the radiator is made using one-half inch threads. The valves and thermoelement are available in white, chrome and steel versions and are suitable for most heated towel rails. This set is the perfect complement to a heated towel rail. The attractive and compact design allows you to install the thermostat under the heated towel rail parallel to the wall, eliminating accidental impacts on it.

    The range includes two types of thermostats with different principles regulation:

    • RAX, which regulates the room temperature;
    • RTX, which detects and regulates the water temperature leaving the heated towel rail. Used on heated towel rails and adjustable 5-10°C above room temperature, the RTX thermostat provides a constant temperature for drying towels.
    The thermostats have the same design, with the exception of the setting scale numbers: on RAX - Roman, on RTX - Arabic.

    The valve assembly is a body with a double-sided self-sealing fitting, which has two sealing rings: one to seal the connection between the fitting and the heated towel rail, and the second to seal the connection between the fitting and the valve body. The Allen screw serves to provide a seal between the valve body and the fitting. If the O-rings do not fit into the fittings of the heated towel rail, a traditional sealing material is used.

  • The control valves of thermostats are divided into:

    valves for two-pipe pumping system heating systems type RA-N of increased resistance with a device for mounting their capacity to perform hydraulic balancing of the pipeline system;
    high-capacity valves type RA-G for single-pipe or double-pipe pumping gravitational system heating.

    What types of valves are there for DANFOSS radiator thermostats?

    Control valves for radiator thermostats RA are divided into two types: RA-N(for two-pipe pump heating systems) and RA-G(for single-pipe pump and two-pipe gravity systems) 1). The RA-N valve is a valve of increased hydraulic resistance with preliminary installation setting of its maximum throughput. Valves release nominal diameter from 10 to 25 mm, straight and angular, nickel-plated. The Danfoss product range includes a modification of the valve DN = 15 mm RA-NCX with a chrome-plated body, which is usually used in conjunction with RAX thermoelements in chrome or color. RA-NCX valves are used in rare cases, and RA-N valves DN = 10 and 25 mm are not found at all in Russia practical application, therefore they are not presented in this manual. Angle horizontal and three-axis valves are used when it is necessary to use a thermostatic element with a built-in sensor and the pipelines supplying coolant to the heating device are laid from below. The Danfoss product range also includes a RA-N valve DN = 15 mm with a pipe for press connection with copper pipeø15x1 mm, which is used in horizontal apartment heating systems. Technical information on valves RA-N DN = 10 and 25 mm, RA-NCX and RA-N DN = 15 mm for press connections is presented in the catalog VD.53.P17.50 " Radiator thermostats and pipeline accessories for water heating systems.” RA-N valves are supplied with a red protective cap.

    The main advantage of Danfoss valves type RA-N is the convenience and accuracy of adjustment to the required hydraulic resistance (flow capacity). In valves produced by other manufacturers, the setting implies the number of turns of a special tool from the “closed” position. In this case, it is impossible to determine the adjustment value visually without disturbing the existing position of the device. It will also not be accurate, since it is not clear how many turns, for example 3 or 3 ¼. The presence of a special tool complicates adjustment work. Externally identical valves various companies have different fixed settings. During installation, builders often confuse them and subsequently cannot adjust the heating system. Some companies suggest making adjustments not on the thermostat, but on the shut-off valve, changing the number of revolutions of its rod. This is inconvenient, as it increases the cost of work and reduces the accuracy of settings.

    The presetting device is a throttling cylinder connected to a rotary crown. Different positions of the crown and cylinder correspond to certain values of the throughput of the thermostat valve. Digital position indices are indicated on the crown tuning element. Tuning indices must be determined during hydraulic calculation heating systems and are positioned against drilling on the valve body during installation and adjustment work. Settings are made without using any tools. The adjusting device is hidden under the thermostatic element and, when it is locked, is inaccessible for accidental resetting. In case of possible clogging of the valve with small presetting values, it is enough to turn the adjusting crown to the “N” position (fully open), and the valve is washed with water. After which the setting returns to its original position. The pre-setting values are clearly visible on the crown (it is easy to adjust or check the correctness of the adjustment). Each valve has 14 fixed settings (settings 1 to 7, N and six intermediate positions).

    RA-G is a valve of reduced hydraulic resistance without a device to limit its capacity. The valves are produced with a nominal diameter of 15 to 25 mm with a nickel-plated body. They also come in straight and angular shapes. The manual does not present RA-G valves DN = 25 mm, since they do not find practical application in Russia. Technical information on them is presented in the catalog VD.53.P17.50 “Radiator thermostats and pipe fittings for water heating systems.” Valves RA-G are supplied with a gray protective cap. Valves RA-N and RA-G are connected to heating devices using threaded shanks with a union nut, and to the pipeline through a coupling fitting. If necessary, a special version of RA-N valves can be used in heating systems - with an external connection thread or with a fitting for a press connection with a copper pipe ø15x1 mm. Many Russian factories produce heating devices with built-in thermostat valves from Danfoss. Among them is the Moscow Santekhprom plant, which produces bimetallic radiator"Santekhprom-BMN Auto" and convectors with casing of the "Santekhprom Auto" series; JSC "Mechanical Plant" (St. Petersburg) - steel panel radiator of the "Conrad-Thermo" type; "Radiator" plant (Kimry) - steel tubular radiator type "RS", etc. Convectors and steel radiators are equipped with thermostat valves for both two-pipe and single-pipe heating systems. Other devices with built-in thermostats are intended only for two-pipe systems. Danfoss thermostat valves, built into the design of the heating device, in their own way internal structure and hydraulic characteristics are generally similar to the valves of separately installed thermostats RA-N and RA-G. Technical characteristics of Russian heating devices with thermostats are given in the passports of heating equipment manufacturers, in the relevant materials of Danfoss LLC, and are also included in the database of the Danfoss S.O. program. for calculating heating systems on personal computers.

    The main advantage of Danfoss valves type RA-G- high throughput (RA-G Du = 20 mm has Kv = 2.06 m3/h at Xp = 2 °C). This is important in single-pipe heating systems to achieve optimal values for the coefficient of coolant flow from the riser into the heating device. High flow capacity is obtained due to the large area of the valve seat and the increased stroke of the rod (more than 30% when using a thermostatic element with gas-condensate filling compared to thermostats filled with liquid). These valves are the only ones with such a flow capacity that have the European quality certificate EN215. This is due to their ability to hermetically shut off the coolant flow through the heating device when the room temperature exceeds the calculated one by 2 °C. In addition, the valve offers a unique service opportunity: its seat and cone, if required, can be completely replaced on site (without dismantling the valve).

    The heating system is one of the most important details any home. Unfortunately, it is precisely this that accounts for the greatest costs when paying utility bills, regardless of the installed autonomous or centralized heating.

    Get comfortable temperature and thermostats installed on each radiator battery help to significantly reduce the cost of paying bills for consumed thermal energy.

    A special effect can be obtained by installing temperature controllers for Danfoss heating radiators, capable of maintaining the required room temperature with an accuracy of 1 degree.

    Operating principle and design

    Danfoss thermostats are necessary to maintain room temperature. During operation, thermostats monitor changes in room temperature using built-in heat sensors. When the temperature drops, the thermal control system opens the coolant intake, increasing its volume and circulation inside the battery.

    After reaching the set temperature, Danfoss thermostat reduces the supply of coolant, thereby reducing the heating temperature and energy consumption in the heating device.

    The equipment consists of two main components:

    1. Thermostatic element responsible for controlling the device.
    2. Valves regulating the release of coolant to the radiator. Executing element.
    A small corrugated cylinder is installed in the thermostatic element, filled with a liquid or gaseous component that reacts to the slightest change in air temperature. In some models, it is used as a thermostat metal plate made of heat-conducting material, but thermostats for Danfoss heating radiators with gas-filled bellows are considered the most accurate.

    The temperature control system can be mechanical or electronic. Temperature controllers for Danfoss radiators with electronic tuning are equipped with a small display to display information about the entered program.

    Differences between some models

    Depending on the model, installed thermostats can be divided according to their operating principle and design features.
    • Supported Ranges temperature conditions from 5 to 30℃.
    • Temperature measurement sensor option - it can be built-in, remotely controlled and programmable.
    • They differ in the type of installation - angular, straight, for lower or upper connection type.
    The most popular are direct heat regulators on Danfoss battery, their design allows you to connect batteries with bottom, top and side connections. The only thing that needs to be taken into account is the length of the shut-off valve and select the length of the installation pipes accordingly.

    The possibility of implementing any type of connection is achieved thanks to the rod located along the axis of the shank. The model designation of such equipment is RTD-N UK. Wide range of possibilities installation of UK model valves allows them to be used in conjunction with Danfoss floor-mounted convectors.

    Corner thermostats are attached directly to the coolant intake point of the radiator and require a minimum of additional installation work, do not take up extra space. Sensors such as RTD - N or RTD - G are marked depending on the model. Increased throughput makes it possible to use thermal valves in closed and open heating systems.

    Another type of temperature controllers for Danfoss heating radiators is the version built into the radiator. Such equipment is widely used in compact devices located in niches, close to the side surfaces. Often, built-in valves are equipped with remote thermostats.

    Installation and configuration of the sensor

    When installing automatic thermostats for Danfoss radiators, you should strictly follow the instructions. It is not recommended to place the regulator head behind bulky objects, behind curtains or inside niches. This will result in distorted measurements by obstructing the uniform flow of air around the sensor.

    If installing a thermal head for Danfoss radiators RTD 3640 or other similar models is not possible due to the hidden placement of the battery; it is necessary to take care of an external remote sensor.

    Despite the possibility of installing thermostats in almost any heating system, using them together with cast iron batteries will not bring the expected results due to the slow cooling and slow heating of the battery.

    Installation of the thermostat should only be carried out by professionals to avoid further problems and malfunction.

    Temperature controllers for Danfoss heating batteries are configured once, at the beginning of each heating season. For correct settings, it is necessary to minimize the heat loss of the room, for which windows and doors are closed. Then a regular room thermometer is installed in the center and opened as much as possible stop valve thermostat.

    After the temperature in the room becomes slightly higher than what you consider most comfortable for yourself, the valve must be completely closed. In the process of gradual cooling of the air, the temperature will begin to decrease and as soon as it reaches the required values, the thermostat can be gradually opened until the coolant is supplied to the system. Usually you just hear water or other coolant fluid starting to circulate inside the radiator.

    For sensors equipped with electronic control, it is enough to simply select the desired heating temperature and fix it in the program. If necessary, the temperature can be easily changed directly during operation.

    After the end of the heating season, it is recommended to leave the Danfoss heating radiator temperature regulators in the maximum open position to allow circulation inside the valve and reduce the possibility of clogging.

    The main task of any heating system is to provide a comfortable air temperature in the room. This temperature may vary depending on the purpose of the room, but if prerequisite is its constancy throughout the day, then the thermostat becomes indispensable structural element heating device.
    The Danfoss radiator thermostat consists of two parts: a valve and a thermostatic element (thermal head). Inside the thermostatic element there is a thin sealed cylinder - a bellows, filled with a liquid or gaseous heat-sensitive working substance. As the temperature rises, the bellows stretches and moves the rod associated with it, which presses on the stem in the valve, and the valve reduces the flow of coolant into the radiator. When the temperature drops the process is underway in reverse order. Thus, the thermal head is the control mechanism, and the valve is the actuator.

    Danfoss radiator thermostat valves

    Radiator thermostat valves are divided into:
    - valves for a two-pipe pump heating system (type RA-N) of increased resistance with an installation device for adjusting their throughput to perform hydraulic balancing of the pipeline system;
    - high-capacity valves type RA-G for pump single-pipe or two-pipe gravity heating systems.

    Danfoss valve bodies are made of brass. The connection allows for simple and precise mounting of the thermostatic element on the control valve. To identify the RA-N valves, their protective caps are painted red, and RA-G valves are painted grey.

    Danfoss thermostatic elements

    Danfoss thermostatic elements (thermal heads) are automatic temperature control devices designed to complete radiator thermostats.
    The thermostat, equipped with a thermostatic element, maintains a constant temperature in the room at the desired level within the range from +5°C to +26°C with an accuracy of ±1°C.
    It should be remembered that most thermostats are regulating fittings, but not shut-off(except for thermostats RA2940 and RAW 5110), therefore, if it is necessary to dismantle the radiator, the thermal head should be replaced with a bronze locking handle, which will ensure complete shutoff of the coolant flow.

    When installing thermostats, you should remember that the effect of their use will be noticeable if they control radiators with low thermal inertia. In practice, these are all known types of modern radiators except cast iron. The latter, due to the large mass of cast iron and water, will heat up and cool down very slowly, negating the effect of regulation.

    Shut-off and connection valves RLV are designed for lateral connection of pipelines of a two-pipe heating system to the radiator. Available in straight and angular versions.
    P y =10 bar*; T max =120°C; ΔР max =0.6 bar.
