How to remove wallpaper faster. How to remove old wallpaper from a wall quickly and easily

It is easy to change the appearance and style of any living room by simply replacing the wallpaper. In this case, often you don’t even need to remove furniture from the room. It is only important to know how to quickly remove old wallpaper.

Do I need to remove old wallpaper, and what tool should I use to do it?

If you want the new wall covering to please you with a flawlessly perfect appearance without any irregularities, bumps or roughness, and also to serve for a really long time without losing its aesthetic properties, the old wallpaper must be removed before sticking “fresh” ones. New material, pasted over the old one, can come off at any time.

In addition, mold and bacteria almost always form under the “ancient” layers, which can be eliminated by applying a new wall covering.

Removing old wallpaper from a wall that was previously plastered, carefully puttied and well-primed is usually quite simple. Especially if they were pasted with simple wallpaper glue. Things are more complicated with material that was “set” on PVA, wood glue or popular in Soviet times Bustilate and on a poorly prepared surface. In this case, you should prepare for long “torment.” Hardest to remove at home paper wallpaper, glued using the above compounds. But this difficulty can also be overcome if everything is done as recommended by experts.

In order to remove old wallpaper as quickly as possible, you need to prepare:

  • warm water in a bucket (you can add a couple of drops of dishwashing detergent to it);
  • metal scraper or spatula;
  • a sprayer for spraying water or a foam sponge;
  • paint roller.

You will also need a piece of fabric (cotton), plastic film, masking tape, an iron, a metal brush, and a knife. If the height of the ceilings in the room is serious, it is better to immediately stock up on a stepladder. Before you begin the wallpaper removal procedure, you need to worry about the safety of this operation. Be sure to turn off the power supply to the room, close electrical switches, wires and sockets with tape.

Also make sure that after completing the process it is easy for you to clean the room - secure with tape a polyethylene film about 4-6 centimeters wide on the baseboard. Attach one of its ends to the floor (with the same masking tape). Cleaning with these precautions will go much faster.

Removing old wall covering - work order

Wallpaper on paper or other base is best removed from top to bottom - use a spatula or scraper to pry up its edge and pull the strip down. We pry up heavily lagging areas with the same tool, helping the material move away from the surface. In situations where this scheme does not work (the wallpaper is firmly stuck and does not want to come off), you should slightly soften the old adhesive. This is done like this:

  • wet with a sponge or sprayer old material;
  • wait 15 minutes;
  • We wet the wallpaper again.

It is recommended to moisturize small area walls, remove the old material from it, and then wet another piece. If you try to soften a large area of coating at once, there is a chance that some of the wallpaper will have time to dry out again while you remove the coating in another area. The liquid will easily penetrate the old material if you first scratch it with a scraper or a regular knife.

Swollen paper wallpaper can be removed relatively easily (use a spatula). It would be even better to purchase special washes chemical drug, which is designed specifically for removing old wallpaper. It is applied to the wall, waited for some time (it is indicated in the instructions for the removers), after which the coating is peeled off with a spatula. This drug penetrates deeply into the wall and effectively destroys the adhesive layer.

Sometimes soaking and even using special washes does not give the expected effect - perhaps pasting the material on a paper basis was carried out quite a long time ago, and even with the help of Bustilat. How to remove wallpaper from the walls in this case? Experts advise using an iron and a wet piece of cotton fabric. The latter is applied to the old wallpaper and ironed. Wall material gets hot. At this point it is very easy to remove.

In some cases, after all the “tricks” to remove old wallpaper, traces of glue still remain on the walls underneath it. You can get rid of them using coarse sandpaper. It can be applied manually, but this is objectively difficult and time-consuming. It is better to use a sanding machine, which will make the wall “pristine” clean in a couple of minutes. After this, do not forget to putty it in order to smooth out all surface irregularities.

The methods described will allow you to remove old paper-based wallpaper. They are also suitable for removing coatings under which there were newspapers (this is how our parents and grandmothers glued them, trying to ensure that the material held as tightly as possible). Modern wallpaper(non-woven, vinyl) are much easier to remove. More on this below.

We remove modern wall coverings ourselves

To properly remove washable wallpaper (polyvinyl chloride or non-woven) produced by the industry these days, you need to take into account the texture of the surface on which they were attached, as well as the type of material. In any case, it will be much easier to “free” the walls from them than from paper ones, for two reasons:

  1. Nowadays adhesives are characterized by excellent adhesive properties, and at the same time they dissolve well hot water or chemical removers (it is only important to use the latter correctly);
  2. Almost any modern wallpaper material is made with two layers - a backing layer and a decorative (outer) one. This makes it possible to remove only the outer layer, leaving the inner one as a basis for gluing a new coating.

Let's figure out how to remove vinyl wallpapers– washable materials that are popular these days. Their outer layer is made of visually attractive and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride, and the backing is made of relatively thick paper. If the base is properly glued to the wall, there is no need to remove it. It would be correct to glue the new coating directly onto it.

So, how to remove vinyl wallpaper correctly? We recommend performing the work as follows:

  • scratch the surface of the old coating with a spatula (you can also use a knife);
  • moisten warm water(with washes) the resulting cuts;
  • wait 15 minutes;
  • make a cut (horizontally) in the upper part of the material (near the ceiling);
  • we pull the canvas (in order not to damage the integrity of the substrate, we perform this procedure very carefully).

Since vinyl is a truly durable coating, washable wallpaper comes off in solid strips rather than tearing into pieces. Some species are quite heavy. It makes the operation of removing them from the wall more difficult. In such a situation, we recommend removing them layer by layer. First, using a needle roller, a metal brush and a wallpaper tool called a “tiger”, the protective moisture-resistant layer is removed. Then the outer layer of the coating is perforated (removed) using the specified device. “Tiger”, we note, does not damage the wall, while doing an excellent job of removing the film.

They are removed in the same way. Myself the process is underway easier than removing vinyl material, due to a more durable non-woven base. As a rule, non-woven coverings smoothly move away from the wall after you pry up their edge with a spatula. Construction professionals strongly recommend leaving the backing of such wallpaper - you will not find a better base for gluing new material.

To new finish held up well, it is important to properly prepare the surface: remove old wallpaper, fill cracks, prime the walls. In this article we will look at how to remove wallpaper from walls without any special material costs or nervous shock.

If you have to clean a plastered cement mortar, a puttied wall, and although the wallpaper has lost its appearance, it has not lost its strength (it does not tear under your hands) - consider yourself lucky, because you can handle it in a few minutes. But if the coatings are thin, easily torn, and even if they were glued with PVA glue, it will seem to you that it is easier to cover the wall with plasterboard than to get rid of the hated wallpaper sheets. Of all the types, the hardest to remove are old paper ones from Soviet times. This is due to the characteristics of the material, with quality characteristics glue used in those days, in best case scenario- CMC, at worst - Bustilat, wood glue, PVA. Such coatings are almost impossible to tear off as a whole sheet. They have to be scraped off with force, centimeter by centimeter. This is quite a tedious task.

Before pasting the walls, the old material must be completely removed

Previously, before pasting the walls were prepared by gluing newspapers. If it was already on the walls paper covering, then they did not remove it, but simply applied a new one on top of the old one. Behind long years Many layers could have accumulated on the walls, firmly glued to each other. Leaving such a disgrace on the wall is not hygienic: mold often grows and various insects. This is the cause of unpleasant odor in the apartment.

The situation is especially dangerous when there are small children in the house, because the walls are damaged by fungi - main reason allergic diseases. To free yourself from all these remnants of the past, there are several ways described below.

Tools and materials

  • a bucket of warm water, to which it is better to add dishwashing detergent;
  • paint roller, foam sponge or sprayer.
  • metal spatula or scraper;
  • ladder;
  • masking tape;
  • polyethylene film;
  • chemical wallpaper removers;
  • metal brush;
  • iron and a piece of cotton fabric.

It is more convenient to shoot from top to bottom. You should pry the top edge with a spatula, then pull it down, prying up the poorly lagging areas. This may be quite enough. But if the wallpaper doesn't come off well, you will need additional moisture to soften the old glue.

It is convenient to work from top to bottom, “picking up” firmly attached areas with a spatula

Work order

  1. Before you get started, you need to follow some basic rules technical safety, because there are electrical switches and sockets on the walls. And in your work you may have to use water or other conductive liquids. Therefore, during the work, it is necessary to turn off the electricity and cover the sockets, wires and switches with masking tape.
  2. You need to glue it to the baseboard using tape. plastic film at least 50 cm wide. The other end of the film is glued to the floor. This will make the cleaning process easier.
  3. Soak the old coatings with warm water and detergent for dishes or liquid soap. There is no need to immediately tackle a large area, because while you are scraping in one place, it will already have time to dry in another. For better penetration water, the surface of the wallpaper should be scratched with a knife or scraper. After swelling, clean the wall with a spatula. You can use special chemical removers. According to the instructions, prepare a solution and apply it with a sponge or spray. Such washing solutions have high permeability and destroy the adhesive layer well, after which removal will not be difficult.

If you can't remove the wallpaper using the usual method

If soaking does not give desired result, try steaming using a piece of wet cotton cloth and an iron. It is necessary to scrape while the walls are hot.

If there are still adhesive residues that cannot be removed in any way, remove it with coarse sandpaper, preferably using grinder. Any unevenness remaining on the walls will need to be puttied.

Modern wallpaper is much easier to clean than old wallpaper.

  • Most of them are two-layer, which provides for the possibility of delamination. In this case, you can only remove the outer decorative layer, which has lost its appearance, and the “backing” will remain on the wall and will serve as the basis for new ones.
  • Modern wallpaper glue has good adhesive properties and at the same time is easily dissolved with special removers or warm water, which greatly simplifies the process.

The method of removal is determined by the type of wallpaper and the nature of the surface on which it was glued. The walls can be with a durable moisture-resistant surface or made of plasterboard. But the question inevitably arises: how to remove washable wallpaper.

How to remove vinyl wallpaper

They have two layers. The first is the base, which is glued to the surface of the wall; it can be paper or non-woven. The second is vinyl (polyvinyl chloride), which makes it moisture-resistant and decorative properties. It is not necessary to completely remove them from the walls; they provide the ability to remove only the outer polyvinyl chloride layer. The base remains on the wall, provided that it is securely glued. Depending on the base material, there are paper and non-woven vinyl wallpapers. If you need to completely remove the paper ones, you can first tear off the outer layer, soak the base with water and scrape it off with a metal spatula.

Parting with the old non-woven fabric

It is advisable to remove only the outer layer, since the remaining interlining, strengthening the wall, will serve as a good base. If you decide to remove it completely, then the non-woven base is stronger than the paper one, so it’s easier to remove it. It is enough to pry the edge with a spatula and smoothly tear it away from the wall from top to bottom, using the spatula to help tear off areas that are difficult to lag behind. If necessary, the inner layer can be moistened during tearing.

Wallpaper perforation device (tiger)

How to “free” drywall from wallpaper

It is not advisable to moisten the surface abundantly - you can damage the drywall by removing it from the cardboard. If the drywall was not primed before pasting, then it will be almost impossible to remove the wallpaper from it without damaging the cardboard layer. In order to do this, it is better to use special washes. To increase the effectiveness of the remover, the surface must be scratched or cut; You can make perforations with a knife, spatula, toothed roller or a special wallpaper tiger.

In especially severe cases, when not wallpaper glue was used, but for example PVA, you can try to remove it along with a thin layer of cardboard. Since it consists of thin sheets of paper glued together, you only need to peel off the outer sheet. This should be done carefully, carefully peeling it off using a paint knife. If you decide to do this, do not forget to putty and prime the surface before gluing the new ones.

After perforation and moistening, the wallpaper is easier to remove

How to remove liquid wallpaper

This is a decorative and finishing coating for walls and ceilings, consisting of cellulose or cotton flakes with dyes and other components. The composition contains water-soluble glue, with the help of which they adhere to the surface. The glue dissolves with water even after drying. In order to remove liquid wallpaper, you must first soak it well. A spray bottle, foam sponge or rag will come in handy here. It is advisable to wet the surface several times. After they have swollen well, they are cleaned off with a scraper or metal spatula. The mass removed from the wall can be reused if desired.

The work will progress faster if you use a steam stripper to moisten the covered wall.

If the renovation has taken a long time and you are pressed for deadlines, information on how to get rid of old wallpaper using professional tools, such as a steam remover, will be useful. This device is good because it simultaneously heats and moisturizes the surface. Using superheated steam, you can effectively remove old dried glue. The impact on the wall surface is minimal.

Video: another effective way

Old wallpaper can be removed using film. Watch the video, it is possible that you will like this particular option.

Removing unnecessary wallpaper is not so difficult; it is important to take into account some features of the materials used.

Previously, people didn’t bother much and, if they wanted to update the interior, they simply glued new wallpaper on top of the old ones. The canvases were made of paper, so no bubbles, bumps or stains were formed during this installation process. As a result, in some apartments you can find from 2-3 to 8 or more layers of old wallpaper. To apply modern covering, you will have to get rid of all this, and here difficulties await many. We have collected several effective ways to remove old wallpaper from walls quickly and easily, be it paper, vinyl or washable canvas.

Why is it better not to glue new wallpaper onto old ones?

In the old days, when wallpaper was all paper without any protective films and coatings, gluing new wallpaper onto the old, smooth, undeformed, but simply boring, coating could be done with a clear conscience. Sometimes there are so many layers of old wallpaper that you can use them, like tree rings, to determine the number of repairs and remember different periods in the life of the owners. If you are going to glue paper wallpaper over old Soviet paper wallpaper that miraculously survived, then you can take a risk and do without the dismantling procedure. In all other cases, it is better not to do this.

Firstly, if you plan to decorate the walls with plaster, photo wallpaper, paint or any other finish, then the layer of old wallpaper must be removed without fail. Secondly, even if you are going to glue wallpaper again, then when applying one layer to another you can get lag of the new layer, wrinkles, blisters and other defects. This comes from the fact that old layer It may no longer hold up very well, and then there’s the increased load. Moreover, the glue you will use will soften the old layer of wallpaper. As a result, the drying process will be delayed, and if the wallpaper in two layers is of different quality, then the lag from the walls cannot be avoided.

  • It’s great if you still have labels from the rolls that indicate the type of dismantling, for example, “remove wet” or “delaminate when removed.”
  • Before you start removing old wallpaper, remember how it was applied. If it was ordinary wallpaper glue that was applied to primed walls, then most likely the entire dismantling process will not be very difficult.
  • Problems may arise if the wallpaper was glued with non-standard glue, such as PVA, or was mounted on an unsuitable surface. The most difficult surface is considered to be unputtyed drywall.
  • Some difficulties may arise if upper layer does not absorb moisture (vinyl and washable wallpaper), but effective methods have been invented for this case too.

In any case, remember that nothing is impossible. There are many ways to remove old wallpaper from walls; you just may have to put in a little more effort than planned.

  • two sharp spatulas of different sizes;
  • bucket, water, detergent;
  • sponges, roller, rags;
  • garbage collection bags;
  • gloves;
  • ladder;
  • perforation roller, wallpaper tiger, knife;
  • special means for removing wallpaper/steam iron and a piece of fabric.

The set of tools can be reduced or expanded depending on the chosen method.

No. 1. Removing wallpaper with bare hands

This is an option for those lucky ones who have the old wallpaper is already coming off the walls on its own. To remove old canvases, just pull the top edge, and if some parts do not give in, then pry them off with a spatula or knife. Strips of wallpaper may come off entirely. If the wallpaper is securely attached in some place, then pry it off with a knife or spatula. If this does not help, then use one of the methods below.

No. 2. Traditional method: removing wallpaper using water

The wet method works in most cases. Moreover, it is more hygienic compared to the previous option, since less dust will be generated during the process. The procedure is as follows:

This method is ideal for paper wallpaper: single-layer wallpaper soaks in literally 5-7 minutes and can be easily removed from top to bottom; double-layer wallpaper will take 10-15 minutes, and only the top layer can be removed. If you are going to glue wallpaper, then you can leave the bottom layer of the old ones. If not, then the procedure will have to be repeated. In the case of paper wallpaper covered with a protective moisture-resistant film, as well as in the case of vinyl, non-woven and washable wallpaper, you will have to try a little more. At a minimum, perforate, and at a maximum, use special compounds and other tricks.

No. 3. We use a special wallpaper remover

No. 4. Steam method

The most common iron, steam iron or steam generator can help deal with old wallpaper:

No. 5. "Mole" versus wallpaper

Often used in construction next way. It is a variation of the traditional method of removing wallpaper by soaking. If the wallpaper is firmly glued, then dissolve the “Mole” pipe cleaner in warm water. To 1 part “Mole” add 2 parts water. Using a roller, this solution is applied to the wallpaper, and after 5-10 minutes the wallpaper should come off in whole sheets. Residues and large pieces can be removed with a sander, but in this case it is worth remembering that you are running the risk of damaging the main surface. Most likely, after completion of the work you will have to level the walls.

Also don’t forget about the most effective method– steaming.

No. 7. How to remove vinyl wallpaper

Vinyl wallpaper is a layer of polyvinyl chloride film glued to paper, or less commonly, to non-woven fabric. The traditional method is suitable for removing such wallpaper, but several nuances should be taken into account:

No. 8. How to remove non-woven wallpaper?

Non-woven wallpaper can be made purely from non-woven material, or from non-woven material and a layer of other material. In the latter case, paper, textiles or vinyl are attached to a non-woven base. The tactics for dismantling non-woven wallpaper are not much different from the traditional method described above.

The non-woven base is much stronger than paper, although it is also natural. It will be filmed in whole canvases. It is most convenient to use a spatula; if necessary, the wallpaper can be moistened.

If there is an outer vinyl layer, it is first perforated, then moistened, and after 15-20 minutes they begin to remove the wallpaper using a spatula. If the non-woven bottom layer remains intact and has not been removed, you can leave it - it strengthens the surface of the wall and will be an excellent basis for new wallpaper.

No. 9. How to remove washable wallpaper?

Washable wallpaper is chosen for those places where water can get in, or where there are constant sources of pollution. This coating can be washed with a damp sponge, and nothing will harm it. Cool, right? But this advantage becomes the main problem when trying to remove washable wallpaper. Experts advise doing the following:

  • First, you should try peeling the wallpaper. Make notches, wet the surface, wait. The top layer can be easily removed, but the bottom layer will have to be removed with a scraper. Be prepared that you may need to moisten the surface with water several times, because such wallpaper is protected from such exposure, and it will not be easy to break such protection;

No. 11. How to remove wallpaper from drywall?

Drywall allows you to very quickly level the surface of the walls. For this convenience, the material has become ubiquitous. However, removing wallpaper from drywall is more difficult than removing wallpaper from brick and concrete. The material should not be wetted with water, and you must act as carefully as possible so as not to damage the upper paper layer.

You can remove wallpaper from drywall like this:

  • by using special means, which dissolve the glue, but this is an option if there is putty under the wallpaper. However, gluing wallpaper onto drywall without prior putty is a very reckless decision;
  • can be applied over wallpaper cheapest wallpaper glue, it will dry very slowly, and during this time it will have time to saturate the wallpaper with moisture, which will swell and move away from the wall on its own. All that remains is to pick them up with a spatula;
  • in rare cases, when none of the methods above helped, you will have to take abrasive materials and cars, but this is a very dangerous option, as it can damage the drywall;
  • if you don’t want to resort to the crude manual method of dismantling, then you can try steam the wallpaper.

Gluing paper wallpaper onto drywall without prior putty means dooming yourself to eternal contemplation of the same wallpaper, or gluing other paper wallpaper on top of it, or demolishing walls, but this is fundamental. Paper is tightly glued to paper, and it will be almost impossible to tear the layers. If you save on putty, then use non-woven wallpaper. In this case, when the top layer is removed, a durable layer of non-woven fabric remains, on top of which you can even putty.

Many people complain that the old Soviet paper wallpaper is literally ingrained into the walls and cannot be removed either with water or steam. If all methods have been tried, and some of the wallpaper remains firmly glued to the walls, then such a half-prepared wall can be puttied to level the surface for subsequent finishing. If the remnants of the old wallpaper are held tightly, tightly, then there will be nothing for them under the putty, and they will not affect the new coating in any way.

To remove them:

  • Perforations are made on the walls using a knife or wallpaper tiger.

  • The wall is well wetted with water.
  • The surface is left until moisture penetrates under the polymer film and dissolves the glue.
  • A knife makes a horizontal cut at the top.
  • Wallpaper can be easily removed from the wall.

When exposed to steam, the glue will swell and the walls can be quickly and without diluting the dirt from the wallpaper. Vinyl wallpaper can be removed with a special liquid with the addition of a small amount of PVA glue.

For this:

  • The walls are covered with mortar.
  • Leave for 2 hours.
  • Removed in one piece. This is due to the fact that when gluing vinyl wallpaper, a special glue is used, and under the influence of PVA glue it begins to lose its strength.

Without leaving traditions

Of course, there are traditional ways to easily remove the old coating. Is it necessary to remove old wallpaper at all? Naturally, yes. There is no need to think about this question. It is necessary to take into account that any unevenness, roughness, or any other defect will only have a detrimental effect, and can become the main reason for the peeling off of a new layer of wallpaper.

Stains on the old coating are also dangerous; they can show their color on the new one, and it will not look aesthetically pleasing at all. The room will definitely not be decorated.

Another reason to remove it is the lack of guarantee that the new layer will be able to stick on top of the old one and will not fall off over time. In particular, the new surface involves the use of glue that contains water, which in turn will soak the old layer. Due to this, air bubbles form in some places, which has a detrimental effect on both appearance, and on functional characteristics and durability.

If possible, find the old shortcut; it usually indicates how to remove them. If you don’t find the label, don’t worry, there are a number of universal methods quick removal.

Tool preparation

First of all, before starting work, you need to stock up the right tool and prepare it for use. The following tools will be needed for this work.

Depending on the type of wallpaper and wall, as well as the cleaning method, the list of tools may vary, but only slightly.

Preparing the premises

First, before starting work on removing old wallpaper, you must carefully prepare the room.

The preparation is complete, you can start working.

How to remove quickly

When removing old coverings, hygiene is a priority. For this they use wet method, this way there will be a minimum of dust and, with a large layer of glue, the plaster will not peel off. Plus, it becomes much easier and more productive to clean the walls of glue residues.

For wet removal you will need a special solution. It penetrates the layer of material and simply dissolves the glue. After which the canvases will easily move away from the wall.

Another option to remove old wallpaper is to use plain water. It is necessary to wet the surface well, and the water should be absorbed as much as possible. 20 minutes after wetting, the wallpaper will come off the wall on its own. Places where they will not lag behind are re-wetted.

Attention! An insufficient amount of water will not give the required effect; it will dry out even before it penetrates and soaks the layer of glue on the wall. Also, don't overuse the water as it will just run onto the floor and not be absorbed. Thus, the surface should be wetted gradually, moving from place to place. The fabric begins to be torn off from the seam.

Take special care when cleaning areas around outlets and switches. As stated earlier, turn off the power to the room, but still be careful to wet the areas around them.

Attention! When using hot water, the work will go much faster than when using cold water. Some areas will need to be removed using a special scraper; you need to work with it carefully so as not to damage the plaster.

For greater wetting productivity, perforate the canvas by making scratches and cuts on it. This can be easily done using wallpaper tiger. Thanks to the soft spikes of the tool, they do not damage the putty and plaster, and it will be much easier to peel off the wallpaper.

Now let's take a closer look at how to remove certain types of wallpaper.

Non-woven wallpaper

First, let's look at removing the non-woven fabric. Such wallpaper consists of a special synthetic fiber. A special feature is their water resistance. Therefore, in order to quickly tear off such a surface, cuts should be made to the canvas and the creation of holes.

After which wetting is carried out, and after 15-20 minutes the wallpaper itself begins to move away from the wall surface and removing the old canvas will not be a problem.

Vinyl wallpapers

This type comes off quite easily. Its component is a vinyl film combined with a paper base.

When tearing them off, you also need to make several cuts; to do this, use a construction knife or spatula, and then wet the surface. After 10-15 minutes, and in such a short period of time the wallpaper will be saturated, the water will begin to dissolve the glue.

After this, either make an incision at the top along the width of the fiber or pry it from above with a spatula. Vinyl fiber has good advantage, it is quite durable, so it will not tear when peeled off. Take the edge and pull the canvas through; it will come off the wall quite easily, and there will be no problems with cleaning.

In some cases, only the vinyl layer itself is torn off, and at the same time paper base remains on the wall. In this case, you should additionally wet the surfaces and tear off the base separately.

Washable wallpaper

It will be a little more difficult with this type. The canvas, like vinyl wallpaper, consists of two layers. The first layer is waterproof and the second layer is paper.

The first one is easy to remove, but the second one remains firmly glued to the wall. The usual method of soaking will not help here. For this type you will need a steam stripper. With it, you can tear off the wallpaper quickly and easily. First, as in previous cases, make cuts and thoroughly moisten the canvas with water. Once dry, use a steam remover or a regular steam iron. Steam each area gradually, since you first need to steam the surface, and then immediately remove the strip of wallpaper.

Liquid wallpaper

Before removing liquid wallpaper, think carefully about everything. In fact, this is a durable coating, and therefore it can simply be treated or repainted. But if you still decide to rip off such a coating, then you should determine its type, since there are several of them. This coating can be reusable; thanks to the mixture with viscose, the wallpaper can be soaked, removed, and reused.

If the coating looks like plaster, then it is disposable and will require construction hair dryer or a sander.

Of course, liquid wallpaper can be removed and manually. This will require hot water, spatula and scraper.

Before dismantling, you should soak the surface well; it is also recommended to add a primer to the water, this will make the work as easy as possible. Literally 10-15 minutes after wetting, you can begin to peel off the old wallpaper from the walls using a spatula.

Please ensure that there are no uneven spots left on the wall; remove them; you will also need to putty and sand the wall later.

How to remove from drywall

As you know, drywall now predominates in modern construction, especially when finishing walls and ceilings. Accordingly, it is also covered with wallpaper. But, despite all its advantages, it has a significant drawback - removing wallpaper from such a surface is much more difficult than removing it from a concrete wall.

Since the top layer plasterboard sheets consists of paper that cannot be damaged under any circumstances, removing canvases from such a surface becomes an incredibly difficult task. If the sheet was puttied before gluing, it is recommended to use chemicals, which dissolve wallpaper glue. Then it will be easier to remove unnecessary coating. Under no circumstances use large amounts of solutions and water, as this will damage the structure of the plasterboard sheet.

One of the simplest ways is to use glue. We dilute the glue, apply it to the walls, wait until it dries, during the drying process it will pull back the wallpaper, and they can be easily and quickly removed with a spatula.
