Homemade cotton candy machine. Homemade cotton candy – a return to childhood

For a fairly small cotton candy making machine, you will need several essential components. First of all, you will need a base - metal or wood. The entire structure of the machine will be attached to it. The base, or body, should have holes along the edges into which nails are driven or cylinders are welded.

You will need an engine. Its power determines the size of all other parts of the device, since the more powerful the engine, the larger it is. You can use the engine from a tape recorder or washing machine.

For sugar that heats up during cooking, a sufficiently large bowl is necessary. Since it will heat up, the material must be safe and not melt from high temperatures.

The last element needed is a power source. Can be anything - or a 220V network.

This design reflects the manufacturing principle and can be modified and improved in any desired way.

Build process

basis simple apparatus there will be a board for making cotton wool. There are nails driven into it to secure the engine, but you can also attach the engine with wire.

The engine uses a simple tape motor with several holes and a small shaft. The bowl is fixed to the shaft, and with the help of holes the engine is attached to the base.

The bowl is the most complex element in the device for making cotton candy. You can use plugs small size- from beer or ketchup. Cans of Pepsi, beer, and other drinks can be used as long as they are cut straight. Any items are processed sandpaper to remove all paint.

After this, a hole is made in the middle and many small holes are punched around the perimeter. In the second plug, a small hole is made in the middle and 4 more around the perimeter.

Using wire, both parts are connected together. Top part- With big hole in the middle, and the bottom - with many small holes around the perimeter. The finished bowl is secured to the engine. Now, in order to make the first batch of cotton candy, you just need to power the engine with an old charger.

To do this, cut off the plug from the charger (so it doesn’t matter what type of charger it is) and strip the wires at the end. Connect to the engine, observing polarity, and plug into the network. If the bowl moves without falling off, everything is done correctly.

Manufacturing process

You need sugar and a source of heat. Sugar is poured into a bowl and heated until liquid. Then the device turns on and with a stick you can collect thin threads of cotton candy.
At high humidity air, a good product will not work. In this case, you can develop a design with a lid.

You can’t make a lot of cotton wool with such a device, but it will be enough to please children on Sundays.

Many people ask, is it possible to make cotton candy yourself or is it possible to make a cotton candy machine yourself?

I answer the first question: yes, of course! You can even make cotton candy with your own hands at home. To do this, just buy an electric motor, attach an analogue of a jet head to it (a tin can with a bunch of holes) and pour hot sugar syrup into the rotating head. At the exit, sweet sugar fiber will fly - if you collect it and wind it on a stick, it will cotton candy. Here's how it happens in the video:

Now we need to answer the second question: Is it possible to make a cotton candy machine with your own hands and earn money from it?

Here, not everything is simple: on the one hand, on the Internet there are drawings of machines that can (theoretically) produce cotton candy. And I can even give one of them as an example - see photo

The design includes: electric motor (from washing machine), disk (analogue of a jet head), bushings, body. It is interesting to read the description of the device:

“It is possible to use any other one while maintaining the specified number of shaft rotations. The disk is made of sheet aluminum, its diameter is 170 - 180 mm (and thickness - 0.2 - 0.3 mm. You can use tin from a tin can (herring)."

The process of cotton wool production is also very interestingly described:

“To prepare 8-10 standard servings, place 110 - 115 grams of granulated sugar (20 - 22 pieces of sugar) in a small, preferably enamel bowl. Pour in 120 - 150 ml of water and, without stirring, put on fire. After 5-10 minutes, the water will boil away, and the sugar will begin to turn slightly yellow, and a light smell characteristic of burnt sugar will appear. Knock down the foam with horizontal movements of the ladle and pour the contents of the ladle in a thin stream onto the edge of the 2-4 mm disk, which is already rotating. Hot syrup, breaking into thousands of thin threads, hardens at room temperature.

Then turn off the engine, separate with a simple knife threads from the body, cut the finished product along the diameter line and roll the resulting semicircle into a tube on the table. Do the same with the second semicircle and cut the “cotton wool” into the required number of servings. Food coloring may be used.

To save High Quality“cotton wool”, it is necessary to clean the disk from adhering syrup after each working cycle. When using two or three ladles at once, the manufacturing process becomes virtually continuous. Don’t despair if the product doesn’t turn out to be of very high quality the first time, use the same mixture again.”

As you can understand, already in the theory of the future vatokata a lot of difficulties await. In practice, I’m sure there will be even more of them - we must not forget that we work in outbound sales and therefore the device must be assembled and disassembled all the time. Unfortunately, in such conditions it is impossible to ensure constant product quality and reasonable speed of cotton wool production.

Therefore, both answers to the second question are negative: it is impossible to make a cotton candy machine with your own hands, and even more so, it will be impossible to make money from it!

Friends, let's not get lost on the Internet! I suggest you receive notifications by email when my new articles are published, so you will always receive all the new articles.

Somehow, in my spare time, I decided to give the children such a surprise. I searched the entire Internet, but found only vague drawings with a disk on the motor shaft where syrup should be poured. But I was interested in the question (like other people looking for drawings) about adding sugar itself to obtain the final product. After spending one working day with a friend, the device was created from improvised materials.

This required:
1. Lamp shade street lighting(any other bowl or stainless steel tank from an old washing machine will do, but this type of lamp has a convenient mount for the motor)
2. The motor from a car windshield wiper is already mounted in the lamp socket holder housing.

Now we will talk about how to make cotton candy at home. The first thing you need to do is make a cotton candy machine. To make it you will need a bottle with a volume of 5 liters, an engine from any children's toy, a lid from a can, a power supply and a box. The power of the power supply should be from 12 -20v, any phone charger can be used.

Cut a hole in the bottle cap and insert the engine.
The main thing is that the engine holds tightly; for this you can add a couple of drops of glue. On top of the rotor we put a rubber band on the nipple and attach the lid from the jar.

We connect the power supply, its wire should pass through the bottle and connect to the engine.

The cotton candy machine is almost ready, all you have to do is find the box and insert the machine into it.

Now he's ready. All that remains is to prepare the desired mixture. To prepare the mixture we need: a metal mug, sugar, water, stove.
First you need to lubricate the lid of the jar with oil. This is necessary so that the mixture does not stick to the lid.
Next, pour one tablespoon of sugar into a metal mug and add water. There should not be a lot of water, just enough to soak in the sugar.

Place on fire and stir constantly. It is necessary that the water evaporates, and only thick caramel remains. Once the water stops boiling and begins to take on a brownish appearance, the mixture is ready. After preparing the mixture, you need to do everything quickly so that the mixture does not have time to harden. We start the miracle unit and drop a small stream of the mixture onto the lid of the jar. The caramel will fly in different directions and shoot cobwebs. That's all.

WHAT IS THE ARTICLE ABOUT?

Where did she come from?

It is believed that cotton candy appeared in the 15th century. The ancient Romans had specially trained people who prepared this delicacy for various holidays. But in this case, this technology is one of the lost ones, since new mentions of cotton candy date back to the 18th century. In Europe there were mechanical machines, who prepared a delicacy similar to modern cotton candy. But the cooking process was very labor-intensive.

Cotton candy is a delicacy made from thin fibers of sugar or sugar syrup wound around a thin base. That’s why cotton candy is so airy and voluminous. The technological process will be discussed below.

Composition and production process

In order to prepare cotton candy, you need the following raw materials:

  • Sugar
  • Vinegar
  • Water
  • Dyes

The production process begins with melting sugar in a special machine. Then water is supplied with a very small concentration of vinegar. This is how sugar syrup is prepared. If desired, dyes and preservatives are added to it.

The prepared raw material is fed to a centrifuge, which spins the syrup and delivers drops of it under pressure through tiny holes. As the droplets fly out, they begin to cool and solidify. At this moment, they are wound onto a base in the form of a thin stick, which allows the formation of long and thin fibers from the hardening syrup. The fibers are wound on each other to the desired volume of product and the process ends. The product is then packaged in a special machine.

Devices and their cost

It is believed that the first device for making cotton candy was invented in 1987 by William Morrison and John Wharton. They presented to the public a device that prepared a new delicacy automatically. This device consisted of:

  • Gas burner that melted sugar
  • Centrifuges with mesh for feeding syrup
  • An air compressor that distributed the fibers onto the base and formed cotton candy

The device discussed above was mechanical, but progress did not stand still. Already in 1903 it was invented electric car for the production of cotton candy, and the industry received a big boost in development.

The range of modern cotton candy machines is very wide. Let's look at the most popular of them.

NameDescriptionPrice
Gold Medal - Econo Floss
Its height is 40 centimeters and its diameter is 65. It weighs only seventeen kilograms, which makes it excellent for beginners. In terms of electricity consumption, it is comparable to a kettle and is powered from a regular 220 volt network.
In an hour of work you can make about two hundred portions of 15 grams each, and these are medium-sized balls.
35-39 thousand rubles.
Gold Medal - Tornado
The second device is called TORNADO, and is also produced by GOLD MEDAL. It is much more productive and larger than the first model. It is 85 by 60 centimeters, and its height is sixty-five centimeters. Weight is 35 kg. Productivity is maintained at 600 medium-sized portions (15 grams) per hour. Cost per Russian market is about 60 thousand rubles.60 thousand rubles.

There are also a huge number of domestic devices for street trading. They have a low productivity of 60-80 portions per hour. You can buy them for around 10 thousand rubles.

DIY cotton candy

At home, you can make cotton candy either with or without a machine. You can buy a special cotton candy machine, which will cost about 1,500 rubles, or make it yourself.

Manufacturing algorithm homemade typewriter for cotton candy:

  1. Prepare metal baby food lids or make blanks of similar size.
  2. Use a file or sandpaper to remove protective covering and paint. They should not get into the cotton wool when used.
  3. In one of the lids, make large hole for pouring sugar, and in the other there are many small ones for serving the finished syrup.
  4. Connect the lids together with wire or another method so that there is a space of 5 centimeters between them.
  5. Attach the motor from a mixer or hair dryer to a rigid base, and then to a lid with small holes. Connect the battery.
  6. Cover the area around the lids with cardboard.
  7. The device is ready! Now you can add sugar and collect the melted syrup from the walls.

You don’t always have the desire to do homemade crafts, but you still have the desire to make cotton candy at home. You can try to do it without a machine:

  1. Mix sugar and water in a ratio of 3 to 1.
  2. Add 3 drops of 6% vinegar (you may need up to 7 drops if cotton wool does not work out)
  3. Prepare sugar syrup on the stove. Make sure it doesn't burn.
  4. Then you need to cool the syrup to 35 degrees. Make sure it doesn't freeze.
  5. You need to heat and cool the syrup about 6-7 times until it becomes homogeneous and viscous.
  6. Once the syrup is ready, you need to create threads from it. To do this, take a lot of thin sticks and wind the syrup between them in different directions until you get the right amount.
