How to make glowing liquid and other tricks. Do-it-yourself luminous paint: production and use Do-it-yourself luminous paint for plexiglass

Phosphor- a substance capable of converting the energy it absorbs into light radiation. The color of the glow can be different and depends on the light filter applied to the surface of the phosphor or its impurity. Photo phosphor is a powder that has the property of glowing in the dark after being exposed to natural or artificial light.

To make the phosphor we need pine concentrate and boric acid.

We need to buy not “pine extract” at the pharmacy, but “pine concentrate”, because it contains a bright yellow dye, tartrazine (E102). The top pair of blue balls in its molecule is a chromophore (capable of receiving and emitting light) group -N=N- of two nitrogen atoms connected by a double bond. This ability is due to the fact that the -N=N- fragment can be in two positions and the transition energy between them is absorbed/emitted in the form of light.

In addition, this group is connected on one side to a benzene ring of six carbon atoms, and on the other side to a nitrogen-carbon ring and another benzene ring. This chain is a kind of corridor in which electrons can “run”. The permissible energies of such a run and

determine the color of the radiation.

Despite the fact that we understand how the dye molecule works, it is not yet obvious how it forms a phosphor - a molecular photobattery - with boric acid. Do it yourself and experiment.

Pour (or pour if you bought liquid) pine concentrate into a glass.

Pour in a little water to create an aqueous solution of tartrazine.

Pour boric acid into a spoon

Wet with dye solution

Stir to wet all the acid.

Boil until it reaches this state. We pierce the resulting bubbles with something sharp to ensure good heating of the entire mixture.

Cool, add more dye solution and boil the melt again. You will get a homogeneous yellow substance.

Glow-in-the-dark paints are quite expensive paints and varnishes that may not fit into everyone’s budget. Good decision can be DIY glow paint done. In terms of its properties, it will practically not differ from factory production. For the money saved, you will have to spend additional time making and searching for all the necessary ingredients and devices.

Glowing paint recipes.

There are three main recipes for making glowing paint at home.

First, using this recipe you can make paint with a purple glow. To make this luminous paint with your own hands you will need: 10 grams of calcium carbonate, 0.6 grams of magnesium carbonate, 3 grams of sulfur, 0.5 grams of sodium sulfate, 0.5 grams of potassium sulfate, 0.5 grams of sucrose, 0.5 milliliters of nitrate bismuth with a concentration of 0.5%. All these ingredients must be mixed and calcined at a temperature of 800 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes.

Second - this recipe will allow you to make DIY glowing paint, which emits green light. To do this you will need: 10 grams of strontium carbonate, 0.5 grams of sodium sulfate, 3 grams of sulfur, 0.3 grams of sucrose, 0.4 grams of borax, 0.5% solution of bismuth nitrate in a volume of 0.5 milliliters. All ingredients must be mixed and calcined at a temperature of 900 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.

Third, using this recipe you can obtain a composition that emits a green-blue glow. For preparation you will need: 16 grams of strontium carbonate, 3 grams of magnesium carbonate, 4 grams of calcium carbonate, 6 grams of sulfur, 0.8 grams of sodium sulfate, 0.3 grams of sucrose, 0.5 grams of borax, 0.5% solution of bismuth nitrate in volume 1 milliliter. The composition must be calcined at a temperature of 700 degrees Celsius for 1 hour.

To make luminous paint with your own hands from the compositions described above, you need to mix them with acetone in a ratio of 2 to 1. Where 2 parts are chemical composition, and 1 part is acetone.

If the recipes seem complicated.

If creating the required composition seems difficult or it is not possible to get some ingredients, then you can always buy glow in the dark paints. Their cost in hardware stores is approximately 700 rubles per 500-milliliter can.

Also, do not forget that, for example, you can buy one for a bicycle. They are cheaper, and they will do the job on the road just as well as the luminous ones.

Paint is a source of inspiration for many people and a way to make a room feel modern and modern. unique decor. The luminous composition, made on the basis of a phosphor, glows pleasantly in the dark, thereby turning the interior into a fabulous and exciting place. A product based on phosphors gives unusual look object or surface, which is why today luminescent paints are enjoying considerable success.

How to make glowing paint at home? Making the product is not difficult, as it may seem at first glance, the main thing is to comply with all the requirements that will make the luminous composition unusual and surprising.

What is luminescent paint and what is the principle of its operation?

Glowing paints are prepared on the basis of phosphor or neon, which have the ability to glow in the dark. Luminescence is the ability to glow that occurs as a result of accumulation over a day solar energy. Luminous liquids contain a cluster of phosphors that accumulate light during the day, and when darkness sets in, they release their light energy into the room. As a result, artificial lighting is created in the room, giving a pleasant shade. The surface treated with the composition will glow for a long time, while the brightness of artificial lighting depends on the amount of luminescent liquid.

Luminescent paint should not be confused with fluorescent products. Fluorescent paints only illuminate a room if they contain ultraviolet light. Therefore, fluorescent paint will only illuminate a room if there is a special lamp in it.

Description of the “work” of phosphor paint

Creating luminescent compositions with your own hands at home does not require special effort for work and purchase large quantity ingredients for preparing paint. Therefore, every person who decides to decorate their room on their own will be able to prepare the composition with their own hands.

Luminescent products will glow for decades, since the luminescent composition is a chemically and physically stable substance that lasts for 30 years. For a full and long-lasting glow, such a dye must absorb bright sunlight for 15-20 minutes, so that it can work for 8 hours without interruption. Self-made paint glows in the dark as brightly as there is a lot of luminescent agent in it. Therefore, it depends on you how much the room will be illuminated in the evening.

It is possible to make a fluorescent composition from available materials, but it contains phosphorus that is harmful to health. Therefore, the creation of fluorescent products is not common these days, since it is better to use phosphors to create paints. Often, phosphorus-based products are used only to improve the exterior of a building, while luminescent paints are used to decorate the interior.

How to create paint yourself

Preparing luminous paint is an easy, but at the same time responsible process that must be followed strictly according to the instructions. To prepare a luminous composition, a luminescent liquid is first made, the powder for which is easy to buy at a household store.

  1. Recipe 1

To prepare luminous compositions that are created with improvised means, you can use a regular luminous marker. To do this, we check it on paper, where we need to draw 2-3 lines, and then evaluate their luminous abilities. If there are any, remove the rod from them and rinse it well in water. When finished, the rod must be squeezed out well. Now the liquid with phosphors is mixed with any paint that will be purchased for painting the exterior or interior of the building.

  1. Recipe 2

You can give the paint luminous properties using pine concentrate and boric acid. Take 50 ml of water and pour it into an aluminum container. Dissolve 3 grams of concentrate in it. Pour a pinch of boric acid into another container, and then slowly pour concentrated water into it (you will need half of it). Then bring the liquid to a boil, and then wait for it to cool completely. Now add the remaining pine needle concentrate to the liquid and boil the composition again. As a result, a yellow liquid called phosphor should appear in the container. Now you can mix it with paint and start decorating the room. For a faint glow, it is enough to use half the liquid.

  1. Recipe 3

Neon paint can also be made using peroxide. It is easy to paint any surfaces and objects with such paints, which is why they are popular today.

It's easy to make neon paints from peroxide, but you need to protect your hands and face before making them. Pour 300 ml of water into a jar, and then mix it with 2 tablespoons of peroxide. Add the rest of the available means, which are a spoonful of vinegar and a pinch of salt. Carefully close the jar and begin to shake it until a glowing liquid forms. After this, you can start preparing neon paint.

It turns out that with a certain imagination and a little skill, your interior can change its “appearance” depending on the time of day. For example, during the day everything will be in a classic, strict version, and when darkness falls it will be transformed into a glowing fantastic palace.

Luminescence is the ability of a material to emit light in the dark or under certain artificial lighting. Such an unusual special effect can be achieved from any object, just treat it with luminous paint.

Any surface can be treated with luminescent paint, which allows you to create a unique design even without the help of specialists.

Glowing paint is pretty expensive pleasure and not everyone can afford it. Therefore, a great solution would be paint made at home. Its parameters will not differ from the factory one. However, you will have to spend time making it and purchasing the necessary components.

Properties of luminous paint

One of the most common types of luminous paints is produced with the participation of phosphor - a harmless phosphorescent pigment.

The components of the paint are completely harmless, but you need to purchase the components for making it yourself at home from manufacturers who have a quality certificate.

Glowing paint is formed from two main components: varnish and phosphor pigment. The properties of the phosphor are determined by the peculiarity of light emission. This mixture contains oxides and lanthanides, which act as activators.

A phosphor can accumulate light and then release this energy in the form of glow. It can extract its charge resource from any solar or ultraviolet base. 15 minutes in daylight or artificial light is enough and this supply is enough for the tireless glow of a painted object for 7 hours.

The most amazing thing is that this process is dominated by a non-stop cycle and can operate in this mode for about 30 years.

Among other things, the luminous element perfectly adapts to the outside environment; it tolerates frosty weather well, so it can be used both indoors and outdoors.

Among the shades of luminescent paints, yellow and blue predominate. But with certain manipulations you can get other colors. The lightest yellow powder has the brightest shine, which in the daytime looks like light green.

Some designers use this material for original interior in a room where there are tiles. They are made from improvised materials and used as grout for joints, which not only glows in a dark room, but also protects against moisture.

Glowing neon metal paint looks cool on rims car, is also used in airbrushing and in the design of front entrances of buildings or on metal signs.

With this unusual material you can create exotic effects on any texture, be it stone, concrete floor, plastic windows or other surfaces. The main thing is that the surface is clean and dry. Before application, you should degrease it and remove dust and dirt from the surface.

With this extraordinary paint you can do extraordinary things in phytodesign. Since the colorful material dries quickly, it can be safely applied to fresh flowers, houseplants or on the branches of any tree. Manufacturers guarantee safety, so coloring is harmless to plants.

Glass surfaces that are treated with luminescent color glow especially richly in the dark. This approach is used in the manufacture of display cases. You can also paint small glass products, such as a tabletop, cabinet shelf, lampshade or vase.

How to make glowing paint at home?

Preparing phosphor at home is not difficult at all. To do this, you need to purchase pine concentrate, which can be bought at the pharmacy. Pour or pour (if the substance is in liquid state) concentrate into the dishes. Then add a small amount of water. Thus, we obtain liquid tartrazine.

Tartrazine is a synthetic dye with a characteristic yellow. It belongs to food.

Then mix the entire resulting mass thoroughly until smooth. Place the bowl with the mixture on the fire and heat it. When heated, air bubbles form, which need to be pierced with a sharp object. The next step is to cool the mixture, add tartrazine again and heat it up. After completing the procedure, a homogeneous yellow substance is obtained.

To check the result, the resulting mass must be illuminated with a bright flash. If everything is done correctly, the glow will be noticeable. The resulting phosphor substance can be crushed into powder by crushing it. You can learn more about the process in the thematic video.

Recipe for improved phosphor:

DIY fluorescent paint

Fluorescent paint is popularly called ultraviolet. The main difference with fluorescent is that it does not emit light in the dark. Its properties can be demonstrated only with the help of neon ultraviolet light, and during daylight hours the pattern applied by it is no different from an ordinary one.

It consists of a transparent base with a fluorescent pigment, thermoplastic resin and powdered dye, but despite its rich chemical composition it is non-toxic.

Among the huge range of colors of ultraviolet paint, the most popular ones can be identified, such as red, yellow, pink and green, their prevalence is explained by the fact that even in weak light they show their effect.

Fluorescent paint can be applied to any base: hardware, wooden, ceramic. You can also process fresh flowers and even use them for drawings on the body. Some designers use this unusual material for landscape work.

Fluorescent color is made from safe substances for humans, which is why they are used by body art masters. Dyes are practically not absorbed into the body. Entire sets are produced for nightclub lovers. The only drawback is that you have to wash off the substance after the end of the holiday.

It is also worth noting the fact that luminous fluorescent dye is used in the manufacture of wallpaper. With the help of this technology you can transform a child's room. In daylight, wallpaper serves as a regular covering with different thematic designs, and when the neon lighting turns on, their volume surprises even adults.

They are glued to flat surface, as well as regular wallpaper. But it is worth warning that the desired effect is achieved only with the help ultraviolet lamps and neon lighting.

There is the easiest way to make fluorescent paint. To obtain it you will need several components: colorless acrylic lacquer and fluorescent powder. But not a 100% fluorophore, which costs a very decent amount, but its pigment with polymer base. You can buy it in a special store or on the Internet.

To obtain the required composition, the purchased pigment is poured into the acrylic base and thoroughly mixed. If you add a pigment of the desired color to the emulsion, you also need to mix it well.

Undoubtedly, everything new is attractive and alluring. Today, the use of light-accumulating energy elements, the so-called phosphors, is becoming increasingly popular. Such elements are actively used in notation in populated areas, on, etc., they began to be used more and more often in interiors, highlighting certain objects or entire exhibitions. Naturally, many people have a question about what a phosphor is.

Phosphor is a special chemical composition that has a light-accumulative memory. Light is absorbed from environment and is released as light energy in dark conditions. Phosphors exist in ready-made form in nature. According to classification, they are of organic and inorganic origin. If you have the necessary substances, you can prepare the phosphor yourself.

Photoluminescent phosphors are more often used in production and everyday life. They do not dissolve in water, tolerate ultraviolet radiation well, and do not emit fumes or radiation harmful to health. Luminophores of this type are fireproof, easy to use and operate. The glow emitted by such drugs lasts for 24 hours. Of course, interested users are wondering where to buy phosphor. You can purchase phosphors of the required colors from suppliers of various industrial goods, or in specialized online stores.

They have an unlimited scope of application, ranging from body art to interior design and car tuning. Following fashion, of course, many will try to decorate surrounding objects with interesting glows, trying to make a phosphor with their own hands. Theoretically this is possible. The main thing is to choose the right proportions Supplies and create optimal conditions for a chemical reaction.

In order to make a phosphor with your own hands, you must also have pine concentrate available.

In order for there to be a result, all elements must be taken in pure form without impurities. They can be purchased in the required quantity at pharmacies. The concentrate is dissolved in clean water in a ratio of 1 g per 50 ml. You can determine that there is enough pine concentrate by its color - it should be bright yellow. Separately, it is necessary to weigh the same amounts of boric acid, approximately 2 grams each. This can be done using a scale or a teaspoon.

A portion of boric acid is applied to a previously prepared aluminum plate, mixed with a pine solution (10 drops), leveled over the surface (approximately, the layer of the mixture should be about 2-3 mm). The plate is placed on a hot plate to warm up. It is important that fully formed bubbles must be carefully pierced using a needle. A do-it-yourself phosphor made in this way will glow in the dark after complete hardening.

Here is one method of producing phosphor. In fact, there are about a dozen recipes, some of them are complex technological processes that require special equipment and conditions.
