What can kitchen aprons be made from? Ideas for the home. Homemade decor from wine corks From wine corks

I’ve been eyeing a selection of ideas for decorating with corks for a long time. Having been inspired, I decided (the author says) not to waste money on small accessories, but to decorate the kitchen apron with corks. And now one of the objects has such an opportunity!
In this master class I will tell you what came of it.

So, we will need the following materials:
- wine corks;
- construction glue;
- stationery knife;
- tempered glass, cut to fit the apron;
- drill, glass fasteners;
- as well as one man “with his hands.” :)

How many traffic jams will you need? It took us about 1200 pieces for a kitchen apron 240 cm long! The corks collected by us, friends and relatives came in handy... And still it wasn’t enough! When you see corks in a bag, it seems like there are a lot of them, but it turns out that they are just a drop in the ocean (in the apron). I had to “rob” a friendly bar! Have you seen those huge glasses that bartenders put corks in? That's where it comes from! :)
The pattern laid out with corks in a checkerboard pattern looks very beautiful. But the pattern requires corks of the same size. From a large volume, you can choose the same ones for a small decorative niche or rug. In our case, the surface is large, so we arrange the plugs vertically in lines.
For better grip and to save hard-won plugs, we cut them in half lengthwise.
All traffic jams different sizes. So that it does not shine through through small cracks due to a loose fit white wall, we painted it a dark regular color water-based paint. If the interior is in light colors, then the wall need not be darkened.
Before gluing the plugs, install the bottom kitchen cabinets and install a tabletop on them, without a side for now. Here is a table top from artificial stone. We remove mechanisms and frames from electrical outlets. Upper cabinets remove, having previously outlined the line of the apron.
This is such a gloomy picture Bad quality, since all the work took place at night...

Be patient and start gluing :) Lubricate each half with glue and carefully press it against the wall. We do not touch all the pieces that go beyond the marked line; at the end of the work they can be trimmed.

When gluing the plugs, we go around the sockets located on the apron, do not seal them!

This is what happened when all the plugs were glued and neatly trimmed.

To protect the plugs from water and dirt, it is necessary to cover the apron with glass. We ordered glass cut to fit the backsplash, with holes for mounting. We install the glass, firmly attaching it with bolts to the wall.

On top of the glass we return the mechanisms and frames of electrical sockets to their place.

Glue the edge of the tabletop:

We are returning the upper cabinets.
All! Beautiful, practical and unusual :) You can invite guests!

Later we painted the wall above the kitchen black, in these photos it is still gray.
A piece of the wall can be seen here:

Using the same principle, depending on the intended interior, the surface under the glass can be decorated with the most different materials: leaves, branches, wallpapers, photographs, recipes, everything your imagination tells you!

A kitchen apron performs many practical and aesthetic functions at once: it protects against dirt, grease and damage to the wall, it can focus attention on itself, become bright accent, correct the geometry of the room.

In this regard, there are certain requirements for the apron: strength, practicality and moisture resistance. And, of course, an original stylistic solution that supports the design of the entire kitchen.

As a standard, aprons are laid out with tiles or the walls are covered with panels made of chipboard and plastic. Natural and artificial stone and metal panels are also used quite widely. Let's see what other options exist.

Slate apron

A solution that looks perfect in Scandinavian style and in the loft, - treat the wall in work area slate paint to make it look like school board. This apron is moisture resistant, easy to clean and looks interesting. It's great for writing down recipes and notes or drawing inspirational messages. We saw this one in Butovo:

Chalkboard paint can be used on various surfaces, as we described in the post and in .

From wine corks

You don't have to drink that many bottles of wine to line your apron with wine corks. You can ask your local restaurant to collect wine corks or buy them online. This solution is very original and convenient - it’s easy to attach something to the cork surface. However, such an apron is very difficult to wash and will lose its appearance over time. Its heat resistance is also not great, be careful with open flames.

Perforated panel

There is nothing more convenient to hang numerous kitchen items directly on the wall. All you need is a perforated (plug) metal panel and the required number of hooks. This apron will look best in industrial styles, such as high-tech and loft. Clean perforated panel directly on the wall is not very convenient, so it is better to make it removable, providing a moisture-resistant base behind it.

Brick apron

Raw Brick wall- loft classic. Why shouldn't it be in place of the kitchen apron? It looks very impressive.

However, with practical side everything is worse: brick is heat resistant, but very difficult to clean. Minor stains may not be as noticeable on textured surface, but eventually something will have to be done. Painting with moisture-resistant paint and varnishing will help make maintenance easier.

Caption for the picture

An alternative solution is to choose brick tiles. We have already said in the article that this is one of the options for imitation. These tiles are more symmetrical and less textured, but they convey the spirit of the loft quite accurately. Such option will do and for Scandinavian style.

If you want to make your kitchen even more convenient and original, take a look at the post.

Volumetric letters and paintings

Do you want to make an original declaration of love or simply surprise your loved ones? Then stock up on wine corks. And they, in turn, can be used for interior decoration and photo shoots. You can find detailed tutorials on how to make them using the links below.

If the handle of a cabinet or chest of drawers breaks, do not rush to the doorsteps of furniture stores in search of a replacement. You can go the other way and make unusual handles from wine corks. To do this, they need to be sharpened a little, and then attached with screws to the door or drawer. For some this will be a temporary measure, and for others it will be an original detail in the interior.

An old fan grille, a bunch of wine corks, string... At first glance, this unnecessary trash, which belongs in a landfill. But in in capable hands this garbage turns into a designer chandelier. Like these ones original frames for paintings and photographs are obtained from wine corks. At the same time, you can safely experiment: glue the corks along, across or in a herringbone pattern, use them entirely or cut them into pieces. It all depends on the interior where these will hang unusual frames. By the way, you shouldn’t limit yourself only to photographs and paintings - you can use corks to border a mirror, a board for writing with chalk, and much more.

These holders can serve as place cards at a wedding or just sit on your desk.

A warm and romantic atmosphere can be created with the help of wine corks, two glass vessels and a scented candle. Place the vessels one inside the other (the first one should be 2-3 times smaller in diameter), fill the space between them with plugs, and insert a candle into the smaller vessel. Voila! Original candlestick ready.

A board and a few wine stoppers are the “recipe” for a convenient hanger. Anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver can do it. This hanger will perfectly complement the interior of a cottage or country house.

Looking at this graceful giraffe, which serves as an interior decoration, it seems as if several experienced engineers worked on it. In fact, it is done simply: a wire frame is covered with paper, and then wine corks are “planted” on it. The main thing is not to skimp on glue so that the structure turns out not only beautiful, but also durable.

Using wine corks you can make a convenient and beautiful panel- something like " interactive whiteboard" You can attach shopping lists, phone numbers, notes to loved ones or photographs to it. In this case, it is better to use small needles or pins rather than glue and tape - then the panel will serve you for many years.

What goes around comes around. But sometimes it’s very difficult to remember what and where you sowed. To avoid confusion about the future harvest, use wine cork tags. To do this, you need to drill a hole in the cork, insert a stick into it and write “Tomatoes”, “Parsley”, “Pepper”, etc. Stick such tags into containers with seedlings, and you will always know where and what is growing.

You will find one of the master classes on making wreaths from wine corks

Skewers for canapés

Canapés are a great holiday appetizer. Especially when you consider that you don’t have to buy skewers for them, but make them from scrap materials. To do this, you will need wine corks (they need to be cut into circles), toothpicks and some kind of decor (ribbons, stickers, beads, etc. will do). Drill into the resulting wooden mugs holes for toothpicks, decorate them, and the original skewers for canapés are ready.

By sawing the cork in half and gluing a magnetic strip to it, you will get an original refrigerator magnet. You can use it to attach photos, notes, shopping lists and other important little things.

To protect furniture, we use special stands for hot pots and plates. Of course, you can buy such a thing, but it’s more interesting to make it yourself. Take several dozen wine corks (the number depends on the diameter of the stand), glue gun, knife and satin ribbon for decoration. Cut the corks in half (if you don’t do this, the stand will simply end up a little higher), sand the edges and glue the corks together in the shape of a circle or octagon. Place a ribbon around the edge or decorate with others decorative elements. The stand is ready.

Bird house

These are the chic “apartments” you can make for birds using wine corks. First, you should make a frame from thick cardboard, and then cover it with corks. It turns out to be a real cobblestone tower. This great idea for children's creativity, because the child will learn not only to “build”, but also to take care of nature.

Earrings, pendants, necklaces, brooches and rings - all this can be made from ordinary wine corks. You just need to get a little creative and get the necessary accessories. Corks can be used whole (for example, for pendants), cut into circles or sawn in half (for earrings and necklaces). They can be painted and decorated with beads. In a word, the flight of imagination is not limited.

Jewelry storage organizer

From wine corks you can make not only jewelry, but also an organizer for storing them. Any girl knows how difficult it is to place jewelry so that it does not get lost, is in sight and is at hand. Dear ladies, take a picture frame the right size and stick wine corks inside. Make several hooks to make it easy to hang beads and bracelets. And the earrings can be stuck between the corks or directly into them (if the wood is soft enough).

The table was pompous blue and red, but now it is stylish black and brown. But its main highlight is the tabletop. It is made from wine corks: the corks are “set” on liquid nails and coated with varnish on top. It may not be very practical, but it sure is impressive. It’s unlikely that any of your friends have such an original bar counter.

To prevent your keys from getting lost, make a keychain from wine corks. It's very simple. You need to buy accessories (sold in craft supply stores) and use your imagination a little. You can leave the cork as is, or you can decorate it: paint it, write your name or the “purpose” of the key (for example, “office”, “home”, “mailbox”), hang beads, etc. As a result, you will get an exclusive keychain that is unlikely to be lost.

Miniature flower pots

If you think that a wine cork is too small to grow plants in, you are wrong. You can make a very cute one out of it. flower pot on a magnet. To do this, you need to take a wooden (definitely not plastic) plug, hollow out a small hole inside, cover it with soil and plant small sprouts there. After this, you can glue a magnet to the cork, and there will be a small cute “flower bed” on your refrigerator.

A Christmas tree, toys for it, Santa's deer, gift wrapping and much more can be made for the New Year using wine corks. For example, to make the main symbol New Year's holidays- herringbone - you will need a cone-shaped base, paper, glue and, of course, corks. Drape the cone with colored paper and stick corks on it - they will act as needles. This tree looks very cute, and can easily replace a traditional (live or artificial) tree. Who doesn't like to sail boats? As a child, we made them from newspapers, but the voyage of the paper ship was, alas, short-lived. Another thing is a vessel made from wine corks. Glue a couple of corks together, attach a sail and you can go on a “sea” trip. Such a boat will delight your child and remind you of your own childhood.

Nowadays it is fashionable to decorate houses with various decorative balls. They are made from paper, thread and other materials. Wine corks will also do the job perfectly. To make a decorative ball out of them you will need: corks themselves (a lot), a foam ball, a glue gun, brown acrylic paint and a brush. We paint the foam base and the “bottoms” of the corks, and then cover the ball with them. This decorative ball made of wine corks looks great on a bookshelf, as it harmonizes with the books. And if you want to hang it somewhere, don’t forget to attach a ribbon.

Wine corks are most often made from wood. Therefore, wine cork is a durable and reliable material from which you can make practical rugs for the bathroom and hallway. To do this, the corks need to be sawn lengthwise and glued to a rubberized base. You can also use entire corks and glue them together vertically (it is better to use corks as a base). metal carcass). The last option is more suitable for the front door.

If you drill a hole in several wine corks and insert ink paste into it, you will get an unusual pen. To prevent it from dangling or bending, the plugs should be glued together. You will not only save on your purchase stationery, but also surprise your friends.

Many people remember such an attribute of Soviet life as “pendants” made from postcards and paper clips instead of doors. After the collapse of the USSR filament curtains, it would seem, are a thing of the past. But fashion, as you know, develops in a spiral - a new round of popularity for thread curtains is coming. True, now they are used more for zoning premises. One thing remains the same - you can make such a curtain with your own hands. For example, from wine corks. Looks very creative.

This lampshade, made of wine corks, will bring warmth and comfort to your home, and the light streaming through the cracks will create a special, somewhat mysterious atmosphere. But the main thing is that it won’t be difficult to do. You need to take a regular plastic lampshade and cover it with wine corks. Don't do it too tightly - the more gaps, the more light.
