If we talk about paints, their emulsion types are a physical mixture of water, which acts as a dispersed medium, and polymer resins, which play the role of a dispersed phase (a kind of suspension).
The main features and characteristics of the emulsion depend on the material used as the dispersed phase. Based on this, it is more correct to call such coloring compositions water-dispersed.

The same water emulsion

Water-based paint (water-based paint) is made on the basis of a dispersed phase of polyvinyl acetate (PVA). It is the ancestor of all water-dispersion coatings, because the production of such compositions began with it.

Polyvinyl acetate water-based paint quickly became in demand due to its very low cost. And the fact that it was even easier to wash off the coating than to apply it only aggravated the success of the material.

Special paints for ceilings

Amateur builders often wonder how ceiling paints differ from wall paints. I can answer right away - there are no special differences between them.

The overwhelming majority of water-dispersion compositions are universal. They are often labeled as “interior”, in other words, their purpose is to paint ceilings and walls indoors.

If you come across a can in a store that says “ceiling paint,” it will only mean that the composition is a little thinner. This is necessary to make applying it with a spray bottle more convenient.

In addition, such compositions have a high degree of whiteness. This is what is written on the buckets and cans: “super white paint.” These materials are less tinted and are used only for finishing ceilings.

Painting compositions for wooden bases
