Dressing room on your own. Interesting ideas for arranging a dressing room

A dressing room is a space allocated for storing things: underwear, outerwear and clothes, as well as shoes. This is necessary in order to concentrate all the clothes in one place, distribute them on shelves, and not run around the entire apartment looking for underwear or outerwear. Here you can try on clothes, put them on and choose a harmonious combination. This is especially important when you plan to go on a visit or to any celebration.

Setting up a dressing room does not require a large living space. To organize it, it is enough to allocate 1.5-2.0 square meters of living space. But you can always easily and quickly find the clothes you need, since they are in one place and lie at certain points in the closet.

Unfortunately, we have to admit the fact that our citizens live in small apartments, where every square centimeter counts. In this regard, it should be noted that the size of the dressing room is directly proportional to the size of the apartment. As a rule, its dimensions are within 1.5x1 m, no more, or even less. The most optimal solution is a corner dressing room: although it is smaller in area, it is more spacious. What a paradox!

Small dressing rooms with dimensions: 1.5x2.5 m and 2x2 m.

A mini-wardrobe in the form of a rectangle, when things are located on one side, should have a width of at least 1.2 meters, and when stored on both sides, at least 1.5 meters. In addition, there should still be room for a person who does not just look at the closets, but gets dressed or undressed. Therefore, dressing rooms are radically different from sliding wardrobes. Plus, there should be enough space in the dressing room so that you can install any doors.

If a closed space appears, then air will certainly stagnate in it, after which, over time, an unpleasant smell of stagnant air will appear. If something is also stored in this room, then heavy air appears, absorbing the aromas of those things or objects that are in it. In this regard, we can immediately say that ventilation is necessary, and effective ventilation, which must be organized even before things are placed in the room for storage.

The principle of operation of ventilation is quite simple: in the upper part of the room, closer to the ceiling, there is an exhaust hole where a fan can be installed, and in the lower part there are holes where fresh air to the dressing room. The exhaust opening can be connected to a common ventilation system or have an independent exit. It is better if it is an exit to the street, and as a last resort, it is an exit to an apartment. Thanks to air circulation, foreign odors will not be felt, and things will be stored in appropriate conditions. At the same time, it should be remembered that the lower to the floor and higher to the ceiling the openings are located, the more efficient the exhaust ventilation will work.

Options for organizing ventilation in dressing rooms, through the bathroom.

When choosing a fan (if it is a forced system), you should pay attention to its noise level. The fact is that space for a dressing room can be allocated in the bedroom or next to it. Therefore, there is absolutely no need for unnecessary noise. The fan turns on either automatically or using a regular power switch.

As for lighting, it should be bright. Firstly, you need to quickly find the things you need, and secondly, the color of things should be real. If there is little light, then the color of things is also hazy and not natural, after which you can confuse some things that have a similar pattern and color. In addition, when putting on underwear or clothes, you should really evaluate their harmonious combination. At the same time, the light should spread evenly throughout the dressing room. The mirror can be located on the door or the doors themselves can be mirrored.

One of the ways to install lamps.

Which lamps to use is at the owner’s discretion, but the approach should be as follows: more light, combined with daylight. This will always allow you to choose the right clothes, depending on the conditions for wearing them. The lamps can also be turned on by a motion sensor. Then there is no need to install other switches. Usually, in such rooms people often forget to turn off the lights, but the motion sensor will do this automatically.

Where to find a place for a dressing room?

In small apartments it is very difficult to allocate space for a dressing room. Despite this, there are still options, since the layout of apartments is carried out with the presence of various small niches, designated storage rooms, etc. If this is not possible, then you can carry out a partial redevelopment of the apartment, especially since most layouts, especially since Soviet times, are not distinguished by their practicality. During the renovation process, many owners do just this: they partially move the partitions, removing unnecessary things and optimizing the living space to suit their needs.

How to make a dressing room from a closet.

If the apartment is corner, then there are many more options for arranging a dressing room. Alternatively, you can select one of the suitable corners. In addition, the location of windows and doors allows for so-called dead zones. IN in this case, ideal option– this is the arrangement of the dressing room area.

Dressing room located in the corner.

If the area does not allow, then you will have to artificially increase it somewhat, making the walls not even, but with the middle extended inward. The area of the room will not suffer from this, but in this place you can really fit a huge variety of useful things.

How to slightly increase usable space.

There is another, but quite useful option - placing a dressing room on a balcony or loggia. But before this, you should make sure that it is warm on the balcony or loggia, and this is only possible as a result of insulation. In addition, it is desirable that this place be heated.

The location of the dressing room is on the side of the balcony or loggia.

If there is a wide loggia, then shelves or racks can be placed along the wall.

Option to use a wide balcony.

If the layout allows, then in the hallway you can also allocate space for a dressing room. Although, it all depends on the wishes of the apartment owners.

And yet, most suitable place, for placing a dressing room - this is a bedroom. It is convenient to both undress and dress here, therefore, most apartment owners opt for this option and do not spare part of the area for placing a dressing room. To organize such a useful space, it is enough to mount a partition, for example, from plasterboard, which will not take much time. In addition, the technology is so simple that even without proper experience this work can be done with your own hands. This may take a maximum of a week, without any special construction waste.

Despite this, there are certain nuances. If the partition is made using technology, you will have to sheathe the frame on both sides, which takes up extra centimeters of usable space. Alternatively, the frame is sheathed only on the outside, and inner part remains unsewn. And here it is very important to arrange the profiles so that they can serve as a support for drawers or other hanging elements.

Plasterboard partition for a dressing room.

There are also simpler and more technologically advanced options, without the use of putty. This can be a partition made of ordinary chipboard, from OSB boards or MDF paneling. In this case, it is possible to choose the color that best suits the overall interior of the room. If you use non-laminated finishing materials, you can then cover them with the same wallpaper that is intended for the room. In this case, it will be possible to somehow disguise the dressing room.

In fact, there are quite a lot of options and approaches, so choose suitable option no problem.

Choosing doors for a dressing room

When a dressing room is created with your own hands, there are several options for installing doors: these can be “compartment” type doors, “accordion” type doors, hinged doors on casters or regular swing doors. Alternatively, you can abandon doors altogether if the place for storing clothes is located in the bedroom: no one else will come in anyway. But this does not mean that you should not maintain order in your dressing room. That's why it's a dressing room, so that things are stored in a certain order, otherwise it will be very difficult to find anything. As a last resort, you can install something like a Japanese curtain.

Sliding doors – compartments in the dressing room design.

There are also several options here: they can be installed over the entire width of the opening or in parts. Parts that do not take part in the operation of the doors should also be used, because there is not enough space anyway.

Doors can be customized upon request. They can be made bright, eye-catching, or made to match the tone of the room so that they fit into the overall interior.

Arrangement: use of storage systems

For small spaces, it makes no sense to make or order wardrobe furniture from chipboard, MDF or wood, since it takes up quite a lot of free space. In addition, after installing it, it is already impossible to change anything.

Classic furniture takes up significant space.

In this case, they resort to more modern approaches, using lightweight metal storage systems. These are modular structures that are mounted on special racks. They can be attached in different ways, depending on the conditions of their use: either to the ceiling and floor, or to walls. Different manufacturers produce various systems, which may differ in methods of fastening. After installing the racks, everything that is needed for storage is hung on them.

The racks have a special design that allows you to install any element at any height. These are the most modern, mobile structures for storing things. They can be easily modified depending on the available space by simply moving the elements.

Modern, convenient modular system.

The racks can also be of rectangular cross-section, in which grooves are formed on both sides. Using special clamps, various components are fastened in these grooves.

A different type of rack and a different mounting option.

At the same time, you should pay attention to the fact that shelves and drawers of different designs are used here. They may differ both in the method of fastening, in the method of functioning, and in the method of location. For example, they can simply be installed on top of each other.

As a rule, such storage systems are quite expensive, since they are widespread mainly in European countries. Therefore, you shouldn’t really count on purchasing such systems. The best option is to independently manufacture such a storage system from a round chrome-plated pipe, using various fasteners. In fact, the result is the same furniture system, although not as functional, but much cheaper. As we say, why pay more?

Clothes storage equipment

Along with classic shelf drawers, there are other storage methods. These include skirts or trousers. These are specially designed structural elements, sometimes equipped with clips. They allow you to store skirts or trousers for a long time without storage consequences. As a rule, if in normal conditions trousers or skirts are stored, they must be ironed after this. Innovative approach allows you to store skirts or trousers for a long time without additional operations to bring them into condition.

If such a hanger also extends, then this is another plus, allowing for a visual inspection of everything that is available.

Brackets for skirts or trousers are one of the options for using storage elements.

Despite this, there is another, more affordable option, which costs much less, but the result is no worse. In this case, hangers with crossbars located one above the other are used. It may not be so convenient, but the result is almost the same.

One of the cheapest options for storing skirts and trousers.

To store ties, there is also a special design that extends in length. Although, there is another system that is focused on storage in drawer cells.

Tie storage design.

Hangers can be placed in different ways. One of the simplest ways is retractable brackets, similar to the principle of storing ties.

Pull-out brackets for storing clothes.

Another, but very interesting design is the pantograph. It allows you to use useful space right up to the ceiling without affecting functionality. Moreover, the device can be attached both to the side walls and to the ceiling itself. A special rod is installed in the center of the pipe, the movement of which lowers objects to a horizontal position. As a rule, the load capacity of such devices does not exceed 18 kg, which corresponds to light-weight clothing.

Ways to store shoes

As a rule, in each family the number of pairs of shoes is dozens, therefore, the problem of storing them is obvious. As far as we know, there are classic storage options that everyone is used to and have been using for decades. At the same time, such methods are not functional enough, especially when there is a lack of usable space. In this regard, it makes sense to pay attention to more modern approaches to storing shoes that can save vital space.

For example, it may be of real interest retractable system, where pins mounted on a movable base are used to store shoes. It is convenient and compact, which is suitable for our conditions.

Retractable shoe frame with pins.

There is another approach - these are mini chests of drawers that are mounted on the walls and that take up virtually no space. As an option, a system of hanging organizers, which are used in conjunction with a horizontal pipe, is suitable.

Using mini chests of drawers located on the wall.

These are not all ideas, as there are a huge number of them. They allow you to store shoes compactly, practically without taking up much space. You can see them in the photo below.

There are other, cheaper storage methods. They can really be used for storing seasonal shoes. The shoes that are used can be stored on special nets equipped with adjustable hooks. Something similar can be seen in shoe stores. Typically this is metal mesh or a perforated chipboard panel with hooks and shelves attached. The hooks are mobile, so they can (just like the shelves) be adjusted to fit any shoe size.

A mesh with hooks and shelves is one of the cheap options for storing shoes.

Installing such a grid at home is not difficult. Moreover, it can be mounted on the wall, on the side of the cabinet or even on the door. Shelves and hooks cling to horizontal crossbars. This approach saves not only space in the apartment, but also cash. This idea is so simple that it can be implemented at very little cost using your skill. In other words, you can actually make it yourself, just make or find a panel with holes where such hooks will be inserted. By the way, you can do everything yourself: both panels and shelves with hooks.

Option: a board with holes and hooks for placing shoes.

If your budget is limited, then it is better to purchase and look for such systems not in furniture stores, but on the Internet. Firstly, it can be much cheaper, and secondly, the sites may have a wider range of devices that may be of interest to any potential client. There are many devices here that are designed to save space. Take, for example, the same stores that are interested in displaying the maximum amount of goods when there is a lack of usable space. In fact, you might be interested in special racks for placing shoes.

Metal shoe racks.

If you add wheels to such racks, you get a unique retractable system for storing shoes. The most important thing is that such a system will cost several times less than the one sold in the store.

Dressing room design stage

First of all, you should decide on the size of the dressing room in order to subsequently purchase storage systems that would correspond to the dimensions of the room. In any case, the layout should be approximately the same as in the photo below.

Sample organization location of places for storing various things (indicating all sizes).

For ease of use of space, it is advisable to maintain the following dimensions:

  • shortest distance from shelf to shelf:
  • when things are stored - 30 cm;
  • when shoes are stored - 20 cm;
  • jackets, jackets, shirts – 120 cm;
  • trousers:
  • folded in half - 100 cm;
  • length – 140 cm;
  • space for outerwear – 160-180 cm.
  • space for dresses – 150-180 cm.

In the upper part there is space for clothes from a different season or for things that are rarely worn. Sometimes at the very bottom there is a place for a vacuum cleaner, and in one of the cabinets there is a place for an ironing board (a very necessary thing).

If you want to make a dressing room yourself, you can get acquainted with several schemes.

A dressing room is a great way to place not only clothes and shoes, but also various household items in one place. However, many people are intimidated by the construction of this small room. Don’t worry, you can make it with your own hands from scratch, and at a very low budget.

First, decide on the location of the dressing room. If you have a large enough hallway, you can take a small corner from there. Plus, this way you won’t lose useful space in other rooms.

To build a dressing room, you can use plywood, wooden boards, chipboard. But exactly cutting chipboard with edge gluing will be the easiest option in terms of processing and cost. In this project, the dressing room was built with dimensions of 100 by 180 centimeters.

Instead of sliding entrance doors, you can hang an ordinary curtain. This will help make the space more comfortable and also save money. To hang it, you can use the same rod as in the dressing room if the curtain has rings.

The cost of such a room will be about 10 thousand rubles with all consumables.

A dressing room can be easily created using a plasterboard partition

With the right approach and following the instructions (which we give in our article), you can make a dressing room with your own hands in two ways:

  • refurbish the storage room;
  • make a dressing room from plasterboard.

Requirements for space under the wardrobe or what needs to be taken into account:

The closet is cramped, but nevertheless has plenty of shelves.
  • The room for a wardrobe should be at least one meter by one and a half meters. These are the minimum dimensions that allow you to more or less comfortably fit all the shelves, hangers and drawers;
  • It’s good if the room allows you to provide a place in the dressing room for changing clothes and for a large mirror;
  • In a small storage space, ventilation must be provided. Otherwise, things may become saturated with a musty smell;
  • The depth of the area under outerwear and dresses should be at least half a meter, the height - at least one and a half meters;
  • The area for short clothes can have dimensions of 50*100 cm. Additional storage areas can be placed at the top;

Before we start independent arrangement In the dressing room, it is important to understand what things and how many of them this room will be designed to store. There is no need to equip it for the future or in reserve.

Dressing room from the pantry

Just don’t overdo it with the number of shelves so that there is still room for changing clothes.

A storage room for a dressing room is a convenient option for self-furnishing. You won't have to work hard on finishing. It is enough to simply remove everything unnecessary from the pantry and carry out cosmetic or complete repairs. All that remains is to plan the areas and purchase all the necessary wardrobe details. Then install them and enjoy your work.

A properly equipped dressing room consists of two halves.

First– long vertical area. Things will be stored here on hangers. At the bottom there are places to store shoes.

Second part the space will be blocked off by shelves. Drawers are installed there. This part is used to store linen, towels and all kinds of small items.

Drywall dressing room

Everything here is much more complicated and such work will require certain skills and patience. After all, you have to build the entire dressing room yourself. First you need to clearly define where exactly the room will be located, as well as its exact dimensions. Based on the dimensions, calculate the amount of building materials needed.

Required materials and tools:

  • easy metal profile from 50 to 100 mm
  • plasterboard sheets
  • primer
  • fastening elements
  • insulation
  • putty

Installation of a plasterboard dressing room

Frame assembly. It begins with marking the profile and cutting blanks from it for the future floor, walls and ceiling. Cutting is done with special scissors. Floor profiles are mounted using a screwdriver and self-tapping screws. Next, vertical wall profiles are mounted, and then horizontal ceiling profiles. To make the structure strong and rigid, you also need to secure the transverse profiles with self-tapping screws. This work must be performed extremely carefully so as not to injure yourself or damage the wall covering, if any.

Frame covering. The profile frame has been assembled, now comes the stage of covering it with plasterboard sheets in two layers. Insulation should be laid between the layers. It will also serve as additional soundproofing for your dressing room. It is also recommended to lay electrical wiring in the resulting space. The cutting and installation of plasterboard sheets is very simple. But you can use chipboard instead of this material.

Seam taping, puttying and priming. There will definitely be seams between the laid slabs. They need to be glued with bandage tape and then puttied. The resulting joints are primed.

Finishing a new dressing room

Interior decoration the dressing room often repeats the decoration of the room at the exit

The simplest option for internal and exterior finishing- This is the pasting of plasterboard sheets with wallpaper. But you can finish it like wood or use various materials for finishing decorative panels. Experts believe that painting walls will be the most durable. But to apply it, you will have to prime and putty not only the seams, but also the entire sheets.

The next stage of work on the dressing room is laying the floor. There are many options, but tiles are considered the best for this type of room. You can also lay parquet or linoleum. Next, you can carry out the interior arrangement of the room according to the recommendations that were given in the chapter on arranging a dressing room in a finished storage room.

Installation of doors. They will look very good sliding doors, besides, they will take up less space.

Dressing room lighting. It is optimal to place the lighting fixture directly inside the resulting room. One spotlight will be enough. Additional lighting can be considered next to the mirror.

Advantages of a dressing room in a house or apartment

  • No need to buy additional chests of drawers, cabinets and hangers. Despite the fact that part of the space is occupied by the dressing room, it also helps to save this space;
  • The service life of all things will be much longer, because each item has its own place, the items do not touch each other;
  • In the dressing room you can store not only clothes, but also bedding and travel bags.

Using the required amount of materials and putting in a lot of effort, you can get a functional room. It is an important part of the interior and carries not only and not so much an aesthetic, but a functional load. Building a dressing room yourself will save a lot of money.

The need for rational placement of things in small spaces does not lose relevance from year to year. Furniture designers are working tirelessly to create new ergonomic storage systems. As a result of their efforts, bulky cabinets are replaced by a comfortable, meticulously thought-out and spacious dressing room - you can equip it with your own hands in the pantry, under the stairs, in the hallway or bedroom. Having decided on the layout and completed basic drawings and calculations, you can begin to prepare suitable materials. In addition, you will need to think through many nuances: from wall decoration to lighting. Ready-made design projects will help you arrange the room competently, making the most of the usable space.

The minimum room area for a wardrobe system is 2 m². This space is enough for a comfortable arrangement of hangers, shelves, and drawers. The optimal humidity level is 30–60% in summer and 30–45% in cold weather. The room is equipped with forced ventilation to prevent the appearance of mustiness, mold, and unpleasant odors.

Unfortunately, there is not always space in an apartment or house for a separate wardrobe system. In such cases, it is necessary to equip it in the most suitable premises:

  1. Bedroom. Usually mobile hangers, open shelves, glass partitions are used, doors are replaced with curtains or screens. Advantages: convenience, all things are at arm's length. Disadvantages: the design can cause difficulties during installation, the impossibility of arrangement in small rooms.
  2. Pantry. Suitable for creating a separate full-fledged dressing room. Manufacturing a storage system allows you to use all the usable space, install shelves, racks, racks, mirrors. Advantages: ability to accommodate a large number of things, ease of creation with your own hands. Cons: small passage, inconvenience when trying on clothes.
  3. Hallway. A good solution would be to install a built-in structure; open, closed, and combined systems are acceptable. Advantages: the dressing room replaces bulky wardrobes and chests of drawers, the ability to store outerwear and other things. Disadvantages: suitable only for spacious rooms, complexity of construction.
  4. Attic. The layout depends on the shape of the room. If the ceiling is at an angle, the racks are mounted along the highest or lowest wall. Advantages: large area, convenient storage and access to things, ease of arrangement. Disadvantages: you always have to go to the top floor to change clothes.

In private homes, space under the stairs is often allocated for a wardrobe system. Among the advantages of such a solution are savings on the purchase of furniture and the ability to use useful space. Disadvantages include limited space and difficulties with independent production.

Selecting a layout

The design of the wardrobe system must fully comply with the parameters of the room. The location of the door, windows, as well as the geometry of the room must be taken into account. Among the most common varieties:

  1. Linear dressing room. The simplest project is when the furniture is lined up along a blank wall or around a doorway. The entrance can be created using an accordion door, which does not require much space to open. For comfortable use, the depth of the dressing room should be at least 1.5 m. Advantages: ease of installation, spaciousness. Disadvantages: not very comfortable arrangement of things.
  2. Parallel dressing room. Storage systems are located opposite each other, so a suitable space should have a width of 1.6 m or more. This option is relevant for elongated rooms in which the window is opposite the door. The racks should be placed at a distance of 80 cm. Advantages: a large number of storage spaces. Disadvantages: not suitable for walk-through rooms.
  3. U-shaped. Convenient for decorating spacious dressing rooms. The layout is ideal for long rooms. Advantages: excellent capacity, ability to use any storage systems. Disadvantages: not suitable for small spaces.
  4. Corner. Allows rational use of rooms with limited space: children's rooms, bedrooms, attics, hallways. Thanks to the right angle arrangement, it is possible to place twice as many things on the shelves compared to the linear option. Advantages: spaciousness, filling areas that are often empty. Disadvantages: due to the small size, changing clothes will be inconvenient.

To make your dressing room comfortable and ergonomic with your own hands, you need to correctly arrange storage systems. Suitable layout selected based on the individual parameters of the room, its geometry and other features. As a standard, the minimum passage width should be from 80 to 100 cm.

How smaller area dressing room, the more open compartments and hangers it should have.

Materials

The furnishings for the dressing room can be purchased ready-made. You must first measure the room so that the set fits perfectly into the free space. The following factory designs are popular:

  1. Modular wardrobe systems. Pros: ease of use, affordable cost, attractive design, which looks especially cozy in home interiors. Cons: you cannot change the location and height of the shelves.
  2. Metal and mesh systems. Pros: the racks allow air to pass freely, the shelves can be rearranged, the materials are not susceptible to moisture. Cons: high cost, there are no limiters between the compartments, which can lead to things falling out.

If you have the skills to work with construction tools and wood materials, you can make a dressing room with your own hands. For this purpose, a special “Joker” system or sheet materials are used: chipboard, furniture board, plywood. The two most common types of construction are:

  1. Corpus. The most popular and economical option. Advantages: with high-quality execution, it allows maximum use of usable space, closed compartments prevent dust from entering, variety design solutions. Disadvantages: the production of structures requires appropriate skills.
  2. On the corners. For assembly, special furniture fasteners are used, with the help of which flat elements are connected to each other. Advantages: wide range of colors and configurations, durability, masking wall defects. Disadvantages: not very presentable appearance, over time the facades become loose.

Boxes and shelves are made from sheet materials. When choosing, you need to pay attention to the thickness indicators: for chipboard they should be 16–18 mm, for plywood - 3–30 mm, for furniture panels - 16–20 mm. The listed options are easy to process; they can be easily sawed, sanded, or drilled. Edges are always glued to the ends of particle boards.

Ready-made wardrobe systems are complemented with baskets and convenient containers. Fabric or plastic organizers are used to place a variety of small items.

Creating a Project

Work should begin by measuring the length and width of the room and determining the location of the furniture. When creating a drawing from scratch, the desired structure is drawn with the expected arrangement of systems, drawers and additional accessories. The diagram is drawn up manually or using special computer programs:

  1. "Obemnik" is a furniture company. Pros: ease of use, large database of models, materials, high-quality graphics. Cons: paid program.
  2. PRO100. Pros: clear controls, excellent 3D visualization, a large number of auxiliary tools, ready-made modules, high image quality. Cons: no markers or functionality for adding edges.
  3. "Basis-Furniture Maker" Pros: high-quality graphic editor, convenient system for arranging fasteners, the ability to create your own libraries. Cons: high cost of the software, difficult to learn.

Finished drawings are adapted to individual area indicators. Be sure to take into account the number of household members and their belongings, the presence or absence of mirrors, and the need to install lighting fixtures. All these nuances are reflected in the dressing room plan. After completing the scheme, detailing is carried out: calculation of the number of panels, fittings necessary for the implementation of the project.

Storage system

Depending on the purpose, all dressing rooms are divided into men's, women's and mixed. Based on this factor, a suitable storage system is selected. In order not to make a mistake with the size of the compartments, you should pay attention to the standard parameters:

  • for jackets, shirts, jackets - 120 cm;
  • for trousers - 100–140 cm;
  • for dresses - 150–180 cm;
  • for coats and long outerwear - 180 cm;
  • for flat shoes - 20 cm;
  • for storing things - from 30 cm.

Before assembling the structure, you need to decide on its purpose. Distinctive Features women's wardrobe system - many additional accessories, aesthetic appeal. For men, functionality, simplicity, and comfort are more important. Ladies will need high compartments for storing dresses, two- and three-tier systems. Representatives of the stronger sex will like sections consisting of straight, even lines.

Mixed closets combine the systems needed by men and women.

Open and closed systems are used to fill wardrobes. The first ones consist of frame racks with holders for shelves, hangers, mobile or wall cabinets, drawers. The second ones are several compartments located throughout the room or in a certain area.

Arranging a dressing room on your own involves determining the appropriate contents. The number of sections is calculated taking into account the number and size of things that will be stored in them. At the same time, we must not forget that the width of the hangers is 35–51 cm, the depth of the cabinets varies from 50 to 60 cm.

To properly organize the dressing room space, you will need a mirror, if possible a full-length one. Place it in the fitting area. A small folding ladder will allow you to easily reach the upper tiers. An ironing board and an ottoman are placed in any free space, organically fitting into the interior of the room. Practical organizers for small items they are placed on a free wall, in drawers or on a rod with things.

Entrance area

The minimum width of the entrance opening should be 80 cm. To design the entrance to the dressing room, sliding doors are used, sliding systems or curtains. When choosing, you must take into account the features of each option:

  1. Sliding doors. The products move along the wall, so they do not require additional space and help save space. Advantages: no thresholds, which looks aesthetically pleasing, safe to use, comfortable. Disadvantages: low heat and sound insulation, high maintenance requirements, difficult installation.
  2. Sliding systems. Depending on the mechanisms used, there are folding, sliding, louvered, and techno-structures. Advantages: saving space, effective addition to the interior, ease of use, easy installation. Disadvantages: noise when moving the sashes, lack of tightness, high maintenance requirements, short service life.
  3. Curtains. In some cases, the use of fabric curtains is the most practical and convenient. Advantages: lightweight material, does not take up much space, quick installation, interior decoration. Disadvantages: ability to allow dust to pass through, the need for frequent washing and ironing.

A small dressing room will become visually larger when using mirrored doors. This technique will help evaluate appearance after trying on things, if there is no space in the room for other reflective surfaces. Fabric options that match the color of the wall decoration perfectly camouflage niches.

Lighting

The question of how to properly organize lighting in a dressing room remains relevant. Experts recommend choosing lamps with a spectrum closest to natural sunlight. Optimal power is 10–20 W.

Halogen, fluorescent, and LED lamps are suitable for dressing rooms. Overhead light is provided by compact spotlights. Long chandeliers with hanging elements are not suitable for dressing rooms, as they will interfere when trying on things. Mirrors, drawers and shelves, which are used most often, need additional lighting.

Decorating a dressing room with your own hands begins with creating a project and preparing for the work process. The following tools and consumables will be required:

  • screwdriver set;
  • drill;
  • screws, dowels;
  • hammer;
  • building level;
  • roulette;
  • wall panels;
  • guides and rack profiles;
  • plasterboard (moisture-resistant) with a thickness of 12 to 15 mm;
  • mineral wool to create a frame;
  • putty;
  • mounting grid;
  • wallpaper or paint compositions;
  • wires for electrical wiring;
  • lamps;
  • switches, sockets.

The main elements for equipping the dressing rooms are being prepared: shelving, mirrors, drawers, rods. Suitable fittings are selected for sashes and storage systems. The work process consists of finishing the room and installing structures.

Tools

Preparing the premises

In an open dressing room, it is necessary to treat the walls against fungus. To do this, use a construction antiseptic or folk remedies: solutions of bleach, soda, vinegar. The best option The finish will be washable wallpaper. At this stage it is necessary to carry out electrical wiring, arrange lighting equipment.

There are special requirements for the flooring in the dressing room: aesthetics, resistance to deformation, durability, hygiene. Laminate, linoleum, and wooden boards correspond to them. Cold tiles and porcelain stoneware are not suitable, as well as expensive parquet, the use of which is inappropriate in this case.

The entrance to the dressing room can be open or closed. Modern options are sliding structures, portable curtains and partitions that harmonize with the overall design of the room. For classic interior a traditional wooden door is optimal, for a minimalist - a lightweight, almost invisible model. Arches look original, but when using them, things must be kept in perfect order.

Installation of a wardrobe system

To figure out how to make a dressing room with your own hands, you can use detailed master classes. The simplest way is to assemble structures using the “Joker” system, consisting of chrome-plated pipes and various fasteners. Additionally, you will need chipboard shelves and glass panels. Step-by-step instructions will be useful for beginners:

  1. First of all, it is necessary to build the foundation of the dressing room on which the storage systems will rest. For this purpose they use chipboard panel 270 x 50 cm (width and depth). The legs are attached to it.
  2. The plinth strip is fixed to the front supports with clips at a height of 10 cm. This is necessary to increase stability and camouflage the legs.
  3. We make vertical posts 200 cm high from the Joker system pipes. The central elements are attached at a distance of 90 cm from the edge.
  4. A horizontal wall (width - 270 cm, depth - 48.2 cm) is screwed to the stiffener rib (height - 30 cm, length - 270 cm). Additionally, the structure is strengthened with mounting corners.
  5. Holders for shelving are fixed to the pipes. Chipboard shelves are sanded on both sides and mounted at the desired height.
  6. The rod is secured using perpendicular connectors.
  7. A module with drawers is installed; you can purchase it or make it yourself. When determining the width, take into account the space occupied by fasteners.

The finished design of the dressing room is complemented by chrome handles that are in harmony with the pipes of the Joker system. This combination gives the furniture a stylish appearance. The colors of self-made storage systems can be calm or bright. Imitation of the natural texture of chestnut, beech, and exotic woods is popular.

Installing shelves

Today, island options for arranging a dressing room are in trend. In the central part of the room there is a chest of drawers, on the surface of which there are organizers and various accessories. The snow-white decoration of the walls will sparkle with new colors with several small mirrors. The interior will be complemented by a crystal chandelier, in harmony with the color of the furniture.

A woman's dressing room will become more practical with an elegant dressing table. This solution is relevant for spacious rooms with good lighting. The shelves are decorated with carvings, elegant handles, and complemented with mirrors.

Wooden cabinets are suitable for large walk-in closets. In the central zone, comfortable ottomans with wheels are located in a certain order. The composition looks strict, but it provides comfortable conditions for users.

To create a practical dressing room with your own hands, you can use any suitable materials that you can find at home. Often old pieces of furniture are used for these purposes - bedside tables, cabinets. To ensure that different items look harmonious together, finished structures are painted the same color.

The question of how to make a dressing room in a limited space is relevant for owners of city apartments. The optimal solution There will be open storage systems, as well as division into zones or tiers:

  1. Lower. Provides a width of 20–30 cm, located at a distance of 60 to 80 cm from the floor. Used for storing shoes, household appliances, accessories.
  2. Average. Fits at a height of 60 to 200 cm. The middle level is the most easily accessible, so clothes that are worn most often are stored here.
  3. Upper. Occupies a space of 180–200 cm and above, used for placing travel bags, suitcases, and out-of-season items that are rarely used.

A small room will be visually enlarged by light finishes, reflective and glossy surfaces. As a result of this decision, the boundaries of the room will “move a little” and the room will be filled with light. To expand the space, transparent doors and lighting built into the shelves are also used.

Popular are oval, trapezoidal, and rectangular mirrors, which are placed horizontally on opposite walls of the dressing room, above a table or cabinet. Floor options, which reflect a person in full height, are decorated with beautiful frames. To create an original design, reflective surfaces are used to finish the ceiling or floor. Placing them in door panels will help save space.

To figure out how to make a dressing room yourself, you need to choose a layout, create a project that matches the parameters of the room and the needs of users. The room will become more comfortable and attractive with a well-organized lighting system, a selection of suitable storage structures, and the use of quality materials. To create a dressing room with your own hands, beginners should take advantage of master classes, ready-made diagrams, and step-by-step instructions.

Video

Currently, huge walls, massive cabinets and all kinds of cabinets fade into the background, remaining in the shadow of modern design solutions. A functional area such as a dressing room can help you rationally organize and fit a large number of different things. It was she who absorbed all the functions of an ordinary wardrobe or wardrobe.

A dressing room, as a rule, is not universal, since such a room requires special attention. It must correspond to the taste preferences of the owner. In order for this zone to truly suit the owners, it is necessary to consider some of its features and properties.

Properties

In order to create a dressing room with your own hands, you need to make sure whether it is really necessary for the available space. Such a zone is undoubtedly the dream of every girl and not only that. It holds a huge amount of things that cannot be fit in a regular closet, things in it are put in order and laid out in plain sight, and here you can change clothes in private.

Also, the dressing room has a huge number of features that need to be mentioned.

  • You can easily find any item in it, because clothes are laid out on specially designed shelves, hangers and drawers.
  • This zone is the focus of absolutely all things, placed depending on their typical characteristics.
  • Items or things that are rarely involved in everyday life, easily fit on the outermost shelves and do not distract attention.

  • By making a dressing room, you can save a lot of money, since the issue of purchasing several cabinets and shelves is postponed.
  • If such a functional area is selected taking into account all the characteristics, it will serve the owner for more than a year.
  • It adapts to the interior of any room and can be located both in the passage area and in the attic.
  • Its internal content is planned individually.
  • It can accommodate fairly large items, such as an ironing board, a vacuum cleaner or a clothes dryer.

Species

It’s rare that someone doesn’t want to have a dressing room in their apartment. Many people believe that it is an unaffordable luxury luxury, but this is just a misconception. Nowadays, anyone can afford such a room, which significantly saves space and brings together all the things that do not find a place in a small closet.

For selection correct layout you just need to decide on the design of the dressing room and choose one of the suitable types.

  • Linear. This type is very similar in appearance to the large and long wardrobe. Fenced off like this wardrobe wall made of plasterboard and doors - ordinary sliding ones, thick curtains or not fenced off at all.

  • Angular. This type functional area It will fit perfectly into any free corner and will be no less practical. Here you can also place shelves, drawers and hangers that were placed in a separate dressing room. In addition, personally ordered corner boxes will be considered an addition.

  • Parallel. This type is only suitable for walk-through rooms or for a wide corridor. It provides for the parallel arrangement of two closets filled with clothes. This will include a large number of things, it will fit the outerwear of the whole family.

  • U-shaped. This option is suitable for those who have a long bedroom. It can be visually divided into two parts: one will have a built-in wardrobe covering the entire wall, and the other will have a bed with bedside tables. By arranging everything in this way, you can balance the room, make it more symmetrical and furnish the room as densely as possible.

It should be noted that when designing a dressing room, it is necessary to divide it into several parts:

  • for outerwear;
  • for casual wear;
  • for shoes;
  • for private dressing

Dimensions

Ordinary wardrobes visually appear large and massive, in contrast to dressing rooms that have sufficient capacity and a light-weight appearance. They can be located both in the bedroom and in the living room, or, for example, in the corridor. Thus, you can collect the entire family wardrobe in one place, even if this area is small.

This is not to say that small dressing rooms are useless and unnecessary. They also hold a certain amount of clothing, but it all depends on how much and what exactly will be placed in them.

There is a long-established shape in the form of a rectangle. This is exactly the area intended for changing clothes of one person and, in fact, the things themselves. This small room when arranging it, it requires special attention, because you need to take into account the location of the mirror and pouf so that they do not interfere.

The most successful and practical placement of a mini-dressing room is a bedroom or a 2x2 attic. With its help, the room will become light, harmonious in all aspects and, most importantly, comfortable. It fits perfectly in a niche that can easily accommodate hangers and various boxes for shoes or other items.

Also, an original option would be to place it around the perimeter of the wall. Sliding doors for this small space can be made of glass or wood.

In order to save extra square meters in the bedroom, a dressing room can be installed in the corner. This will not only be a practical and quite convenient option, but also quite stylish and textured. If a small amount is allocated for such a zone, great solution The room will be divided in half by means of thick curtains, behind which there will be a specially designated area for storing clothes.

For a room with 4 square meters. m or 3 sq. m, space for free walking is limited. Only one person can comfortably fit in it. With such dimensions, you need to pay attention to every detail in order to complete all the items as much as possible. In this small space, a taboo is placed on bulky objects, since there is simply no place for them. You need to use everything: from floor to ceiling. And shelves located almost under the ceiling will help save a couple of free centimeters, which will accommodate things that cannot be used, but would be a pity to throw away.

For those who love order, an open 2x2 dressing room is suitable; it will help save your budget, because there is no need to spend money on a partition in the form of a door or curtain. And for those who store heaps of things and try to fit them into one space, a closed dressing room will be an excellent help, behind the door of which no one will see a huge pile of clothes.

You can design a functional area for things even in a room of 2 square meters. m, since you can make a practical and convenient dressing room for it too. The main thing is to calculate everything down to the smallest detail and equip it correctly.

A great solution would be to place a dressing room in a room of 18 meters, and this is usually a bedroom or living room. It is necessary to create the design of this zone in accordance with the interior of the room itself; you need to take into account every detail and take a responsible approach to color schemes and light. If you want to increase the available space, you can attach mirrors to the sliding doors of the dressing room, thereby visually adding a couple of square meters room.

The functional area of 3x4 meters is quite spacious. It can accommodate various rods, drawers, hangers, trouser racks, shoe baskets, shelves, sections for items such as an ironing board or vacuum cleaner and, of course, a mirror. The layout here should be comfortable and convenient, and a soft pouf can add an additional bit of coziness.

Materials

With the purchase of a dressing room, a huge number of problems are solved: saving space, creating a place for changing clothes and storing personal belongings from prying eyes. You can make such a comfortable and multifunctional area yourself; the main thing is to study the construction technique in detail, read the basics of organization and understand what exactly this structure is made of.

From plasterboard

Building a plasterboard dressing room is quite a bold, but at the same time, a reasonable decision, since with the help of this material you can choose any size of the planned area and fill it with a different number of shelves. In order to avoid making mistakes during manufacturing, you need to strictly follow the steps:

  • First, measure the area chosen to accommodate the future dressing room.
  • Decide for yourself or write down on a piece of paper a list of ideas and concepts that you would like to implement.
  • Out of everyone listed options choose one and modify it so that the design of this functional area matches the interior design.

  • Carry out the drawn up diagrams and calculations.
  • Purchase sheets of drywall according to the dimensions and mark them.
  • Cut out the main parts.
  • Make a frame from metal structures.
  • Cover this frame with cut out pieces of plasterboard.
  • Finish the installation by decorating the outside of the resulting area.

Mesh

For those who want to quickly decorate and change the space of a room, building a mesh wardrobe is suitable. This is the way to solve the problem of lack of space for clothes that is less expensive and very fast. Mesh zones can bring lightness and airiness into the room, which is sometimes so lacking. Externally, this design looks quite original, since it consists of many small compartments that will fit most of the existing clothes.

Such dressing rooms have a number of advantages and features. They are widely used because they are attractive and affordable, have many modifications, color solutions, are very easy to install, can be expanded and, in the end, look stylish and original.

Chipboard

An area made of chipboard or laminated chipboard is convenient, but not universal, since the shelves are already built into the frame and cannot be rearranged. But despite this, this design has many features. Chipboard is a relatively inexpensive material, unlike aluminum frames. You can also save a lot, for example, on trouser pants, by replacing such a branded accessory with a regular barbell or shelf.

The wooden structure looks gentle, and it can be chosen in different colors.

Plywood

This material is very durable and wear-resistant, and is often used to make partitions. It has a low price, so everyone can afford it. In addition, plywood is easy to use, and cutting it does not require experience or professional materials. It is universal and easily changes shape without even deforming.

Tree

The wooden wardrobe system has an aesthetic and rich appearance. It is pleasant and comfortable to be in it. Such an area is usually separated from the main room by sliding doors that can hide everything that is there. In addition, wood is an environmentally friendly material, it will not harm your health and, thanks to its characteristics, will last for many years.

OSB

This material is produced by gluing and pressing coniferous tree shavings. It is resistant to fire, does not have any defects, and has excellent sound insulation characteristics. OSB is very often used in finishing because it is inexpensive and, importantly, does not react in any way to moisture.

Veneer

These are thin sheets with a woody structure. Since wood is quite expensive, veneer that is as close to it as possible would be an excellent replacement. It is worth noting that natural veneer is also not cheap. If the budget for purchasing the material is modest, artificial veneer, which looks just as good, can help.

Accommodation options

In order to correctly and wisely arrange the dressing room, you need, first of all, to navigate and compare the area of the room in which this area will be located. Even if the room is small, you can fit such a functional system into it.

In order not to wonder where to arrange a dressing room, you need to consider several options for successful placement.

From the closet

You can build a spacious dressing room from an ordinary pantry, since it is already separated by a door and equipped with electricity. The advantage is that you don’t need to think about where to place such an area, because the space for the former storage room has long been predetermined in the apartment plan. A typical pantry has an area of 2 square meters. m, which will be perfect for a spacious dressing room. If you have come to the conclusion to change the space in your apartment in this way, then this is truly the right and correct decision.

In the bedroom

The bedroom, like any other room, requires free space. To do this, you need to plan the placement of the dressing room so that there is enough space for a comfortable stay. If the room is spacious enough, it can easily accommodate a large functional clothing area with sliding doors.

If the bedroom is small, you can resort to zoning. It is the open system that will not visually reduce the space and help save extra meters. Hangers and shelves nailed to the wall will add coziness to the room, and decorative drawers will add some neatness.

You can also fit a dressing room in a niche; this option will not look massive and heavy. The internal filling for this type of solution can be selected and designed independently, it all depends only on personal preferences and taste.

If desired, you can make a multifunctional partition in the form of a screen, which can be completely removable, thereby making the dressing room open.

In "Khrushchev"

Apartments built during the colorful Soviet era statesman, are distinguished by the presence of a niche. Its conversion into a dressing room will be original and practical solution. Usually such a room is very small, and standard furniture is unlikely to fit. Custom-made furniture, in which each owner can embody any design idea, will help get out of this situation.

In the hallway

If this room has a small area, it will make an excellent corner wardrobe option, which will fit a sufficient amount of clothes for the whole family. An equally practical solution would be to create an open area in the corridor, but only if there is a niche for this. You can place shelves, drawers, hangers or decorative metal tubes in it.

In a private house

It is necessary to place such a functional area next to the bedroom, as it is very convenient. It is also necessary to take into account that it is advisable to position it so that each family member does not feel discomfort and can freely get into it. As a rule, private houses They have a fairly large living area and equally spacious rooms that can accommodate a dressing room of any type and size.

And if the building has two floors, such a zone will fit perfectly under the stairs and save space.

In the bathroom

The bathroom, as a rule, has a fairly small area. In order to make the most of the available space, you can independently build a small open-type dressing room. Metal rods on which you can hang towels and other things, and many decorative boxes that can accommodate various cosmetics will help in its creation.

In a panel house

A panel house is not distinguished by the presence of large and spacious rooms that would be able to accommodate a huge functional area for storing things, but it is quite possible to equip a small one. It is important to know and remember that it must be equipped with ventilation, so that the clothes do not acquire a specific smell, and with good lighting. To arrange the required number of things, you can draw a placement plan that will distribute them correctly.

In the attic

This type of room has a specific shape, which is why it is necessary to think through every detail of the dressing room in order to avoid mistakes. One of the good locations is the location under the roof slope, since it is practically not used and, in most cases, is simply empty. An equally excellent solution would be a corner option, which can save as much space as possible in an already small space.

If the attic is large enough, the dressing room can be placed by the window - this will make it convenient for changing clothes and very cozy.

In a one-room apartment

Many owners of such apartments prefer functional wardrobe system than ordinary cabinets. It can add texture and style to a room, but there are key points to take into account. Depending on the geometry of the room, you need to choose one of the types of existing systems, the main thing is that it looks harmonious. Expand and so on small apartment A walk-in closet in light neutral colors with existing mirrors will help. With proper design, it will be possible to fit not only things, but also household appliances(for example, a vacuum cleaner)

At the dacha

Under the stairs

Such an area, located under the stairs, will help make the most of the space in your house or apartment. An integral advantage is that in such a room you can place not only clothes, but also items that are used quite rarely, as well as large household items.

Layout with dimensions
