Garden decor made from polyurethane foam. Crafts made from polyurethane foam - garden decoration and your pride

Crafts from polyurethane foam You can do it yourself in just a few hours.

If you have a disposable bottle that hasn't run out yet, why not put it to good use in your landscaping.

In this case, it is still better to resort to professional foam rather than household foam, since a small gun with a diameter of 2 mm is added to it.

Unusually simple and beautiful figures made from polyurethane foam will become the property of your site. They will not leave either neighbors or people simply passing by indifferent.

Materials for fakes made from polyurethane foam

You will need:

  • gloves;
  • sprayer with pre-prepared water;
  • polyethylene;
  • aviation kerosene.

Kerosene is needed so that upon completion of work with polyurethane foam, hands can be easily washed from building material.

It will also be useful to create a base for crafts made from polyurethane foam with your own hands.

You can take a regular plastic bottle, old saucepan or something else that you don’t mind.

The creation of the craft will begin by covering the auxiliary material with foam...

Do-it-yourself decor may also come in handy, for which anything beautiful that is thematically suitable for what you are up to will do.

How to make a craft from polyurethane foam

First, take a bottle and pour some sand or small stones into it to make it heavier. Next, we begin to cover with foam, but in a small layer.

On average, it takes 10 minutes to dry, so after each layer you will have to wait this time.

The first layers of crafts made from polyurethane foam are simple, made approximately in the form of the future craft, but then it is more difficult - you need to improvise, imagine how the decor should turn out.

As for the shape, it can be given by hand, but in order not to get your hands dirty, it is recommended to do this after the foam is covered with film.

The film on crafts made from polyurethane foam appears as a result chemical reaction upon contact with air, and this happens quite quickly - in a couple of minutes.

It should be “bent” like plasticine, and when the necessary outline is obtained, the next portion of time is waited.

In the same way, you can decorate crafts made from plastic bottles, which will be an excellent addition to your garden.

The advantage of polyurethane foam is that you can, until it dries, insert various parts into the craft, such as legs, ears, and a tail. If you also need them “foamy”, then it’s better to sculpt them by hand.

To prevent your hands from getting too dirty, it is advisable to stock up on medical gloves. They are the most comfortable, fit your hands perfectly and almost do not hinder your movements.

In addition, through the rubber you can feel how the craft made of polyurethane foam, which has not yet seized, bends in your hands.

You cannot use fabric gardening gloves - the foam will clog between the threads, and you will not be able to use them after the first contact.

If you need to make a craft from polyurethane foam with a mustache, it is advisable to stock up on fishing line or wire.

These materials can be painted, and even in wet weather they do not deteriorate. But to create a “lumpy” surface on a craft, you will have to work with your hands - different finger movements will help to recreate a wide variety of shapes.

Do-it-yourself large crafts made from polyurethane foam

If the craft needs to be large, it is better to take a larger base as a basis.

You can use plastic bottles to make a base, securing them with tape. The less foam the better.

Foam crafts look great where tire crafts are installed.

They need to be painted carefully, and before this procedure
dry thoroughly in the shade. It takes at least a week to dry, but if the layer of foam is large, it is better to wait longer.

The paint is applied to the foam craft with your own hands every spring. If this is not done, the foam may crack and the craft will be damaged.

Ideas for crafts made from polyurethane foam

If you have a small pond on your site, you can make a large green toad. This is especially true where there are many plants, especially large-leafed ones. In some cases it is easier to make a lizard or a crocodile - whoever succeeds.

In order not to make a mistake with the sizes and “get your hands on”, you can practice on plasticine. No matter how strange it may sound, it was after trying this simple material, you can make gorgeous crafts from polyurethane foam.

The same goes for dough - if you like to bake delicious buns, sculpt animals - this will help you figure out what you can do better.

An excellent solution is to make turtles from polyurethane foam. And it is not at all necessary to have a pond on the site. In addition, almost everyone has white paint, and it is now cheaper than colored paint.

Turtles are easier to paint, their shells can be alternated with natural gray. If during the creation of a craft, bumps appear that should not be there, they can be cut off with a sharp knife.

The situation is similar with rounded parts - if they need to be sharpened, the excess is simply cut off.

Crafts made from polyurethane foam not only decorate outdoor spaces; they can also be made for the home. Funny frogs will make people passing by smile!

Yes, as original New Year's decor You can make a snowman out of foam, but you need to start creating it in advance so that the material has time to dry thoroughly.

If you paint the foam ahead of schedule, it will quickly crack.

There are many craftsmen in Rus' - what modern Kulibins can’t come up with! Owners of a private farmstead, country house, have a natural desire to beautifully arrange the surrounding space. Of course, you can buy any sculptures in a store or on the market, but hand-made jewelry not only pleases the eye, but gives great scope to creativity and imagination.

All you need is a little patience, spatial imagination and original crafts from polyurethane foam will take their rightful place in landscape design your garden plot.

Properties of the material used

For your information: ready-made figures are not afraid of snow, rain, or wind, but it is better to hide them from direct sunlight.

Polyurethane foam found wide application in many areas. IN Lately It has become very fashionable to make beautiful sculptures and figurines from it.

In terms of their decorative value, they are much superior, for example, to tires, plastic containers, garden decorations of which, clearly emphasize the use of these recycled materials. Foam crafts look presentable.

Let us note some properties of this material:

  • Processing is not particularly difficult; even a child can easily cope with this process;
  • The extra fragment can be easily removed in the same way as the missing part can be added;
  • In the process of working on a figure, waste foam material can pollute the surrounding space, so work should be organized in an open area;
  • The sculpture should be sculpted only when this polyurethane foam sealant is completely dry.

Attention: if you do not have sculptural experience, then immediately creating a complex craft will be problematic. Start with something simple: a bun on a stump, a ladybug on a leaf. This will be a great training start. Examples of easy-to-make works in the photo below:

Operating rules

When starting creative activity, be sure to carefully read the rules that any master needs to know:

  • Cover your workplace with old wallpaper, newspapers, cellophane;
  • Read the manufacturer's instructions on the cylinder;
  • You should only work outside when the air temperature is above zero;
  • This product household chemicals in aerosol packaging is toxic: work with rubber gloves;
  • Often a frame is used to make crafts. And since foam is very lightweight material To prevent the sculptures from being blown around the garden by the wind, weigh them down with sand, crushed stone, gravel;
  • Immediately prepare a solvent, acetone or a means to wash off this sticky material - it may be very necessary;
  • We use only paint for painting that is intended for outdoor use;
  • The finished product must be coated with colorless varnish; this is necessary not only to improve appearance, but also for resistance to adverse weather conditions.

Please note: the hardening time depends on the brand of polyurethane foam sealant. On average, a thin layer hardens within half an hour.

What materials will you need?

Depending on what you decide to sculpt, the selection of the necessary available materials depends.

We present to your attention a constant set of items that you will need when you make products from polyurethane foam with your own hands:

  • It is much more convenient to use pistol foam;
  • A stationery knife with additional blades (you have to change them often when working - they quickly become dull);
  • Latex gloves to protect your hands (fabric ones quickly become unusable);
  • To “sand” the surface of products during work, you need coarse sandpaper, and to polish and bring the work to perfection, use fine sandpaper;
  • PF paints and brushes for exterior work ( spray paint It fits worse; if you decide to use it, you will have to do two or three layers);
  • Color for paint (to achieve the desired shade);
  • A set of artistic brushes of different sizes;
  • Furniture colorless protective varnish(especially if you use acrylic paint);
  • A rag for cleaning the barrel of a gun;
  • To make the frame of the intended craft, you will need various plastic or plastic containers that no one needs, planks, fittings, wire, pieces of old linoleum and other waste material;
  • Weighting agents (foam has little weight, crafts need to be weighted with some available material). Small stones, gravel, crushed stone, and sand are usually used as weighting materials;
  • Putty: very convenient for adjusting some details during the revision process.

Idea: on the eve of the New Year, disposable plastic masks of various animals and fairy-tale characters are sold everywhere. Their price is pennies. And you can successfully use it either as a mold for decorating the face or muzzle of your hero, or simply by attaching it to the right place.

A unified algorithm of actions when creating any craft

It is better to engage in this type of creativity outdoors in the warm season. If you have to work indoors, make sure that the room is well ventilated. Cover the work area with polyethylene; the foam will not stick to it.

After reading the instructions on the cylinder, we begin to work step by step:

  • Shake the can vigorously several times. At the same time, you need to hold it with the cap down;
  • Initially, the foam “sets” within an hour, and finally dries, depending on the thickness of the applied layer, within 10 hours;
  • Do not apply a lot of foam at one time; it tends to fall off under its own weight;
  • Place the product frame horizontally. Initially, a layer of no more than 5 cm is applied;
  • An hour later, after drying, the craft must be turned over, its surface moistened and the same steps repeated;
  • After drying, fill unnecessary voids with foam, and remove excess fragments with a stationery knife;
  • Bring to a smooth surface sandpaper. It’s better to fix it on a wooden block;
  • Start decorating after complete hardening;
  • We have already talked about colors above. As for additional decor, buttons, balls, colored glass, wire of various textures and cross-sections and other improvised, natural or waste materials do a good job of this role;

For your information: if you want the fruits of your creativity to please your household longer, use putty for additional leveling: it is completely unaffected by ultraviolet radiation.

And, of course, strict adherence to safety regulations during work comes first (pictured below).

Jack of all trades

When all required material prepared, let's get to work. Don't hold it in your imagination artistic image what you decide to breathe life into. There should be a picture or photograph before your eyes, you should see clearly what you want to get in the end.

The frame can be made not only, as mentioned above, from plastic containers. The product will be more durable if it is welded from thin reinforcement or twisted from thick wire. According to the sculptors, the manufacturing process is simple.

But if you are doing this work for the first time, you need to start from the simple to the complex:

  • Try making flat images first: apply a solid spot on cellophane, and after drying, you can cut out the desired figure;
  • Then try to make voluminous, small, simple figures;
  • The next stage: make larger figures, based on a circle, an oval;
  • Next, you can try your strength and talent in making medium-sized frame crafts;
  • After all the stages you have completed, consider that you are already a master; proceed to perform more complex work; you have already acquired the necessary skills.

Well, now, to the point.

Craft No. 1

We offer you several step-by-step instructions for making crafts. We will go, again, from the simple to the complex.

Let's take a step-by-step look at how to make a Christmas tree from polyurethane foam with your own hands:

From a regular cardboard box we cut out three isosceles triangles (you can cut out four or five, if desired). Their size doesn't matter. If the base is wide, then the Christmas tree will be wide, and if the base is high, then the Christmas tree will be taller

It doesn’t matter how you glue it, as long as it sticks

All these triangles are first from the inside out, folded as in the photo and glued together with tape.

We assemble a triangular pyramid layout and align it. We also fix it on top in several places with tape.

A rectangle is cut out of the same cardboard, which will serve as a base and at the same time a stand.

We install a triangular pyramid on the base so that, firstly, the finished product has a bottom, and secondly, when blowing in the polyurethane foam sealant, our base would protect the surrounding surface from unwanted contamination.

We begin to blow out the pyramid, going slightly beyond the boundaries of one triangle, and immediately hide the joints. If something remains not under the foam, don’t worry, it’s easy to fix later.

The foam pressure should not be high. All sides foam in 2-3 minutes. The Christmas tree is almost ready.

Let the foam harden. We look to see if there are any empty holes - if there are, carefully fill them and leave them until they harden completely.

We decorate our Christmas tree with rain or homemade toys. It looks very nice.

Craft No. 2: snowman

Advice: if you need to foam very small space, but a standard tube does not fit there, try using a match to carefully heat this same tube and pull it out. Just do it carefully, it breaks easily.

Let's continue the winter theme. Now let's look at how to make a snowman out of polyurethane foam step by step.

Place an ordinary balloon on the tube of a spray foam gun and tie it tightly with twine.

We need two hot air balloon. We pump polyurethane foam sealant into both, one by one, let it harden and cut off the ones we no longer need. air balloons with frozen foam, knife. The top ball should be one and a half times smaller than the bottom one. We leave the scraps, they will be useful to us later.

The bottom ball is on top, and the top ball from below needs to be slightly trimmed, so the workpieces will better overlap each other and hold steady. These trimmings will also be used. Using sandpaper or a fine kitchen grater, sand both parts and remove all the unevenness that remained after cutting with a knife.

Cut off the trimmings from the upper and lower balls (these will be the legs) slightly at a bevel so that the lower ball can be installed in these recesses.

We make the legs in a mirror image. We install the lower ball into the recesses made.

He becomes more stable.

Again, from scraps, we cut out the arms so that they fit against the body (pictured).

Let's take it glue gun and using hot glue we securely fix all the parts and coat the joints between them.

Next, we make a carrot nose out of the same foam. Carefully glue it to the desired place.

Paint the workpiece in two layers with acrylic paint. It is difficult to paint on a porous surface. You need to fill every pore, and to get into it you need soft, thick brushes. After the first painting, let the workpiece dry completely, then lightly sand the surface and apply a second coat.

We paint the nose with nail polish, and blue buttons work well for the eyes. We give our snowman a bucket (a cap from an unnecessary bottle of medicine) in one hand, and a broom (a small, worn-out watercolor brush) in the other hand. We tie a scarf from any fabric that we have at home, and dress our miracle in a hat. Finishing touch: draw a joyful smile with a marker.

Craft No. 3: decorative tree

Apartment interior designers have recently picked up the idea of decorating walls with trees. This decoration can be found not only in children's institutions, but also in offices and even in apartments.

A tree is a symbol of well-being. We invite you to familiarize yourself with the step-by-step instructions for making this decor.

We take old wallpaper, and on its back side we draw a full-length silhouette of a tree. If you want to make a spreading tree, glue two or even three strips of wallpaper. This drawing should be placed on a flat surface under a canopy or in a well-ventilated room.

We begin to draw the first layer of foam, gradually filling the entire silhouette. If you have a hollow in the tree, select it separately.

Gradually increase the volume. If necessary, after drying, apply a second or even a third layer. Is the tree supposed to be in volume? Then stick branches where necessary, the length and thickness of which corresponds to your plans.

Let the workpiece dry completely. Then we mix the paint with the color and begin to paint the bark of our tree. If necessary, we remove unnecessary things or add the necessary details.

We wait until it dries completely.

Carefully, using a stationery knife, we trim our tree along the contour. Turn it over to the reverse side and carefully apply glue to the entire area with a brush.

Using strong adhesive, glue the piece to the wall.

We finalize the details: grind, sand, add or remove fragments. Finally paint and coat with clear varnish

We decorate at our discretion. The version in the photo has been modified according to the author's plans: some details have been added, and once again the work is carefully coated with white acrylic paint and colorless varnish. The craft located in the hall is an interesting decoration for the interior of a children's institution.

Wood in the interior is fashionable

Another option: wood, modified to perfection, is a stylish and trendy decoration for any home or cottage.

Craft No. 4: Three Little Pigs

Now let's discuss the fairy tale theme. When creating your next masterpiece, you can slightly adjust the product as you work.

In order not to get dirty, it is better not to touch the raw foam, and when it is covered with a thin film, you need to cover the product again layer by layer. This way you can achieve the desired contour.

We make a preparation from a five-liter plastic bottle and a mayonnaise bucket. Instead of legs there are four sticks. If necessary, add weighting agent to the containers. Everything is secured with tape. The workpiece should become stable.

Apply foam at the top and let it dry.

Turn over and cover the entire piece with foam.

We cut out ears from cardboard and attach them to the head while the foam is still damp, then we “foam” them too. Do not touch until completely dry.

After drying, we begin to work with a stationery knife. Cut out the desired image: remove the excess parts. If you have removed what is unnecessary, foam it again, let it dry and achieve the desired result.

We process it with sandpaper, it can be primed and prepared for painting.

Thus, we prepare three figures and decorate either the garden or vegetable garden.

Conclusion

Making figures from polyurethane foam is a fascinating business. As you now understand, absolutely any shape can be made from this building material. Think over the frame, design, image of your hero - and get to work.

We recommend watching the video in this article, which will help you clearly look again at some aspects of the execution technique. Don’t hold back the flight of your imagination, create for the joy of yourself, your friends and loved ones.

Without attaching special effort and material costs, foam crafts will become excellent decor and decoration for any summer cottage. It is no secret that for many, a dacha is a place where people come to relax from the city noise, rhythm and bustle. Therefore, it is very important that the dacha be exactly the place where a person can truly enjoy life and rest his soul. Often, caring for a summer cottage and decorating it requires considerable Money

, patience and time, but with foam everything is different.

In order to make any crafts from polyurethane foam with your own hands, you do not need to have any special education - absolutely everyone can cope with this task, it is enough to have good fantasy and imagination. In construction, polyurethane foam is used very often and in large quantities

. It is used to seal small cracks and has the ability to expand, filling all the voids. Important!

The hardening of the foam depends on what brand of foam it is, but on average it takes from 15 to 25 minutes.

You can cut off excess parts of finished products only after the foam has completely hardened.

You can cut off excess parts of finished products only after the foam has completely hardened. From construction foam

you can make any crafts, since foam is an unpretentious material, and when frozen it can withstand any temperature; in addition, crafts made from foam do not undergo any serious changes when they are exposed to precipitation. The material is light and does not have sharp corners, so foam crafts for installation are often made for kindergartens or playgrounds. Such crafts can have both large and small size

When working with polyurethane foam, you must use a foam gun, which is placed on the can, and after finishing work, use a gun cleaner

How to work with polyurethane foam?

To work with polyurethane foam, you may need a minimum set of tools and accessories - several pairs of gloves, preferably rubber - the fact is that the foam has such unpleasant properties, it quickly sticks to your hands, so it is simply impossible to do without gloves. In addition, you will need 2 or 3 knives of different sizes - they are needed after the foam has dried in order to give the products the required form and for cutting out small details such as eyes, nose, mouth. When working with polyurethane foam, you must use a foam gun, which is placed on the can, and after finishing the work, use a gun cleaner. To paint finished products you will need paints and brushes. In order for foam crafts to last as long as possible, it is recommended to coat them with varnish.

. It is used to seal small cracks and has the ability to expand, filling all the voids. Polyurethane foam is a very light material, so every time before performing any new craft, it is important to take care of its weight, otherwise the structure will not hold.

Therefore, it is necessary to place something heavy inside each structure - it could be a container with sand, a piece of iron, a plastic bottle with water. You can use anything, the main thing is that the thing at least slightly fits the shape of the future craft (if ready product has small dimensions or volume) and was weighty.

It is important to remember that all work performed with polyurethane foam should be carried out only in a well-ventilated area. The temperature should be room temperature. If work is carried out on fresh air, then this should be done in good weather, but you cannot work in direct sunlight, you need to move into the shade.

While working, it is important not to forget to shake the can of foam before each use.

Finished products made from polyurethane foam must be coated with paint, but it is important to remember that the content of nitrocellulose is unacceptable, since this substance adversely affects the foam; as a result, the craft softens and the entire structure may lose its shape.

Hedgehog figurine made of polyurethane foam

Crafts made from polyurethane foam

Animal figures are especially popular among crafts made from polyurethane foam. You can place them in any part of the garden, placing a lonely figurine by the pond or on the lawn, or create an entire composition. When making crafts from polyurethane foam for kindergarten, figurines of fairy-tale characters are mainly created:

  • Hedgehog. This figurine is very easy to make and is ideal for beginners. Any material can be used as a frame, it all depends on the preferences of the master. When the foam has hardened, you need to carefully cut off all excess with a knife and give the product the required form. Hedgehog needles are made from toothpicks, which must first be prepared for work - they need to be painted black, leaving a small distance untouched. The part that needs to be stuck into the figure remains unpainted. If desired, the other end of the toothpick can be painted golden. Before sticking toothpicks into the hedgehog, the figurine must first be painted and allowed to dry. In these photos you can see step by step production crafts made from polyurethane foam like a hedgehog.

Foam goat

  • Sheep and lamb. A master class on making crafts from polyurethane foam, such as a ram and a sheep, should begin with making a frame. The frame can be made from several plastic bottles connected with tape. In order for the structure to be stable, the bottles that will be used as lower limbs, need to be filled with sand or water. After the frame is completely ready, you can begin the main work - treating it with polyurethane foam. Foam treatment should be done gradually, in layers. Each applied layer must dry thoroughly (15-20 minutes), and only then can the next one be applied. What the craft will look like after final processing becomes visible after the first layer. After the final layer has been applied and dried, you need to use a knife to give the figure its final shape, and then paint it.
  • Goat. These photos show step-by-step instruction on making such a craft with your own hands from polyurethane foam, like a goat. For the body frame you need to use plastic bottles, pre-wrapped with tape or wire. Leftovers are used for the leg frame metal pipes, which must be the same length and thickness. The resulting structure must be securely fastened to the ground, and care must be taken to ensure that the base of the body is securely fastened to the legs. The product is covered with one or two layers of polyurethane foam. In order to make the horns and tail, you can use cuttings of thick branches, securely fasten them and apply another layer of foam to the goat. Before painting the goat you need to apply one thin coat of primer. Large buttons can be used to make eyes.

Polyurethane foam bun

  • Kolobok. This photo shows a craft in the form of a kolobok, made with your own hands using polyurethane foam. A medium-sized plastic ball can be used as a frame. The ball needs to be covered with foam in several layers, not forgetting to dry each layer. The hands of the kolobok are made of plastic straw with wire stretched inside. Hands need to be secured to the kolobok and treated with foam. Small ones are used for the legs wooden blocks, which must also be secured and foam applied to them. The scarf is also made of foam. And you can use cardboard as a frame for the ears on the headscarf. The finished bun needs to be painted, varnished and planted on some stump.
  • Figure for growing flowers. In order to manufacture original pot for flowers, you can make any craft from foam. But it is important to remember that in the middle part of the figure you need to secure a container for growing flowers - this can be: a deep basin, a tin bucket, a large plastic bottle with a cut off neck.
  • New Year's crafts. Such foam crafts can be made both at a summer cottage and on the territory of a kindergarten. A Christmas ball can be made from a tennis ball; to do this, cover it with a layer of foam and paint it with bright colors.

In order to make a Christmas tree, you must first make a frame. The frame is made from a cone made of cardboard. The foam is applied in several layers to the cone-shaped frame. As it dries, the figurine is shaped into a Christmas tree using a knife and painted in the appropriate color.

The sculpture always attracts the views of others with its three-dimensionality and volume. It is always interesting to look at a sculpture, to find new details in it that do not immediately catch the eye. In that the sculpture seems more accessible, it differs from an ordinary drawing, which, one way or another, lies in the same plane.

But even in childhood, many of us simply loved to sculpt various figures from plasticine. Surely, if you loved doing this and were good at it, then you will also be good at making crafts from polyurethane foam. Sculptures made from polyurethane foam can become practically masterpieces of art; you can install them, for example, in your summer cottage, then your guests and neighbors in the area can admire them.

When starting to make a particular sculpture, you must remember that:

  • Polyurethane foam is a very light material, so it will be necessary to make a frame for the sculpture. Additional fastenings will also be needed, these could be pins, pegs or something else;
  • Polyurethane foam is quite sticky, so you need to wear cotton gloves when working with it. Read about how you can wash polyurethane foam here;
  • polyurethane foam contains some toxic substances chemical substances, so you need to work with it outdoors, and besides, it wouldn’t hurt to use a respirator when working with polyurethane foam.

Tools and materials necessary for working with polyurethane foam.

What you definitely need is a gun for working with polyurethane foam. To work with such a gun you will need professional polyurethane foam. You will also need (to wash the gun) a foam cleaner; you can also use it to clean any surface that accidentally gets stained with foam.

The finished sculpture will need to be painted. And for these purposes you will need acrylic paint, which is pre-diluted with water.

After the sculpture is painted, it will need to be varnished. IN in this case suitable varnish that is used for facade works. So we buy it. Some varnishes can indeed produce a yellowish tint, but on sculptures it will not be so noticeable.

It’s interesting that not only sculptures can be made from polyurethane foam, but also used in other ways, for example, to decorate flower pots, I just won’t focus on this in this article.

Garden crafts made from polyurethane foam.

If you decide to make your own sculpture from polyurethane foam, then you must understand that this work requires compliance with certain rules. In addition, this work is quite painstaking and consists of successive stages.

First, you need to think over the image of the future sculpture. You can use almost anything as a frame for it: cans, pipes, buckets, bottles, which are connected to each other using tape or the same polyurethane foam.

If you set out to save a little money, then to give the sculpture the required volume, you can use various newspapers, then the layer of foam can be thinner, and the foam will last much longer. The foam must be poured layer by layer, and each layer of foam must dry for at least 20 minutes. If you don’t succeed right away, and the foam doesn’t lie quite as it should, don’t despair, you can always cut off the excess with a knife and do everything again.

Crafts made from polyurethane foam are a very creative and very exciting process, thanks to which you can feel like a real sculptor, and your loved ones will definitely appreciate the result of your efforts. I also advise you to read the article: DIY crafts for the cottage and garden.

Crafts made from polyurethane foam video

Interesting DIY crafts made from polyurethane foam

Greetings, visitors to the crafts site. Recently, wandering through the vastness of the global network, I came across interesting photos - these were crafts made from polyurethane foam. This question interested me and I began to dig further. As a result, we got a mini-review of DIY foam crafts.

Now I’m trying to make simple things myself, namely garden figurines from polyurethane foam. I am not endowed with the talent of a sculptor, so I try what I am capable of.

So, let's begin our review of crafts made from polyurethane foam.
I was very impressed by the work of one enthusiast who managed to create the body and interior of a car from polyurethane foam.

Of course, a lot of time was spent and labor invested. But the result is impressive. Below are some photos of the DIY process and ready-made option car.

Continuing the automotive theme, it is worth saying that very often Russian car tuners at home make quite nice and comfortable podiums for acoustics.

As a rule, this cannot be done without the use of polyurethane foam. Its main advantage is that it is easy to process (cut, putty, paint, etc.) and is sold in any hardware store. Examples of foam podiums are shown in the photographs.

Crafts made from polyurethane foam can be works of art.

This is proven by craftsmen who manage to make sculptures from it. These can be figures of people or models of buildings. But in any case, to create such foam crafts you need the talent of an artist and sculptor, which is not given to everyone.

We come to my favorite topic - crafts made from polyurethane foam for garden decoration.

These are the so-called decorative garden figurines and original flower beds in the form of animals, plants, houses, etc.
Perhaps, I would also include flower vases made of polyurethane foam into the same category.

How to make garden figurines from polyurethane foam?

I really liked the golden vase in one of the photos below. By the way, making such a vase is simple: take a jar or glass, pour it over with foam, and then, when the mounting foam hardens, paint it.

With flower girls and figurines it is more complicated - first a foam base is created, then it is finished with a knife, then it is puttied, cleaned and painted. It turns out cool, and most importantly - unique.

For today, these are all crafts made from polyurethane foam that have interested me.

As soon as I find something interesting, I’ll immediately add to the article or write a new one.

In conclusion - a traditional video. This time it illustrates the creation interesting jewelry from polyurethane foam:

Polyurethane foam bun

Every owner of his own plot dreams of making it beautiful, unusual and cozy. In order to bring this idea to life, we suggest trying to make a kolobok sculpture with your own hands from polyurethane foam and available materials.

How to make a bun?

First of all, let's stock up on everything we need:

  • polyurethane foam, if you are interested in this work, you may need more than one cylinder;
  • foam gun;
  • special cleaner for hands and washing the gun from foam;
  • several pairs of gloves, preferably fabric-based;
  • a small round object (for example, a ball or even a small saucepan) that will be used as a base;
  • strong wire for hands;
  • thick cardboard;
  • small wooden blocks that are useful for legs;
  • sharp knife.

Let's get to work.

  1. We apply several layers of foam on our base, drying each one well for about 15-20 minutes.

    Have you noticed how the foam increases in size? Keep this in mind for the future. If this is your first time holding a foam gun in your hands, we’ll give you a little advice: near the handle there is a screw that can be used to adjust the thickness of the jet.

  2. We make handles from wire. We bend it, insert it into the body of the future bun and foam it, not forgetting to dry the layers.
  3. Foam is also used for the kolobok scarf. If you suddenly manage to apply it not quite evenly, then use a knife, carefully giving it the desired shape.
  4. Cut out the bow ears from cardboard. We cut them into the gusset on top and foam them just like everything else.
  5. We treat the blocks prepared for the legs with foam and attach them to the body of the bun.
  6. Half an hour after applying the last layer, when the figure has dried, cut off all excess and proceed to shaping the face, cutting out the eyes, nose and mouth.
  7. That's it, all that remains is to decorate your hero. There's a little trick here. It is best to choose oil paint. After painting the figurine twice, take it outside. After standing in the sun for a couple of days, the foam will settle a little and yellow spots may appear.

    After such “airing”, it is worth painting the bun for the third time.

  8. If you want your bun to be bright, then after it dries last layer paint, cover it with varnish. If you plan to create another figurine in the future, then try to find ship varnish, because... Compared to other varnishes, it gives a lesser yellowing effect.

    But any varnish for outdoor use is suitable for the kolobok.

This is how quickly and easily you can create a real fairy tale on your site that will delight not only children, but also adults.

From polyurethane foam you can make not only kolobok-themed crafts, but also a huge number of interesting and simple sculptures that will last for many years. Just if you go out at night, don’t be afraid of your creations, and don’t forget to warn guests about them.

Material. For our own crafts used exclusively waste material (plastic bottles, pieces of old hose, canisters)

Besides available material, we needed assembly room foam and paints...and great desire.

To make a friendly rooster family, we used empty oil cans, scraps of fiberboard (beak, tail, comb, polyurethane foam, paint.
