DIY tool case. DIY tool case Type of homemade carrying case

Every man will agree that a high-quality and multifunctional tool box is an almost irreplaceable thing in the household. Many craftsmen prefer to buy a ready-made box in the nearest store where they sell a wide range of. But such a device can be made independently, in accordance with personal wishes. Moreover, the manufacturing process itself is not considered difficult, so even a beginner can cope with this task.

Classification of tool boxes

There are several basic criteria due to which multifunctional products can be divided into several main groups.

According to the material from which the body is made:

By type of stored instruments:

Design of modern boxes

When talking about the design of such boxes, we do not mean their shape, but the method of opening and the presence of auxiliary sections. The following designs are considered standard today:

Making a box from plywood

To make a tool box with your own hands from plywood, you will need the following tools and materials:

Before you start manufacturing, you need to carefully work out the design of the future product (the drawing can be made on a computer or on plain paper). Produced necessary calculations, the main dimensions are fixed. After that all marks must be transferred to a sheet of plywood. This can be done using a regular ruler, tape measure, marker or even a pencil. All blanks for the future box are cut along the intended lines. It is also necessary to mark all the grooves and cut them on the blanks. Irregularities formed during the work process can be processed with a chisel. It is thanks to the grooves that the final design of the box will be stronger and more durable.

The next stage is the assembly of the entire structure. To glue small parts, use high-quality wood glue. The main sides of the box are also glued together. To improve the result, they need to be pressed tightly together. It is best to use a special rubber strip for this. It cannot be removed until the glue has completely dried. The corners on the doors need to be rounded.

A convenient handle for a tool box can be made from MDF. Initially, the layout is drawn directly on the wood and only then cut out. When the handle is ready, the surface must be processed. It is attached using wood glue and screws. If you don’t want to make a handle yourself, then you can purchase it at a hardware store. Main criterion the right choice- high strength and reliability. Now you need to attach the outer lid of the drawer and door. All parts are put in place, and then the areas for attaching the hinges are marked with a pencil.

To organize the drawer, you can make small compartments. All components are cut out according to the same principle as the box. Grooves are made and glued together. On one side of the box you can make a special compartment for storing screwdrivers. The most convenient option is where this function is performed by special inserts with slots made of plywood. Velcro is applied to the other side of the drawer to store cables and extension cords.

Wooden box manufacturing technology

This option is considered a classic of carpentry. Drawings of this portable storage facility were published in magazines 50 years ago. For the manufacture of you will need a high-quality board with a thickness of 10 to 20 mm, as well as a hacksaw for wood. Thanks to the simple manufacturing technology, many craftsmen still choose this option.

The classic design does not provide for separate compartments or special multifunctional devices. The final product will look like a neat, deep box with a comfortable handle along its entire length. This shape of the handle has a practical purpose. After all, if the weight of the tools used is unevenly distributed, then you can always find the center of gravity point.

A practical addition could be an insert section with its own handle, the height of which occupies 50% of the entire drawer. This insert can be used for small tools(awls, screwdrivers, small keys), as well as consumables (bits for screwdrivers, electrical tape, drills). Any type of wood can be used to make it.

Universal case made from a plastic canister

If you want to make a tool box with your own hands, but do not have a sheet of plywood, then you can use a regular plastic canister. To work you will need:

  • Hacksaw.
  • Plastic container.
  • Fastening elements.

The canister used must be rectangular in shape with a comfortable handle, which should be located in the center. In addition, it should be equipped with a screw cap that will be used as a lock.

The process of making the box itself is quite simple. Using a hacksaw, you need to make cuts in the canister. The first cut should fall on the center of the neck and the handle of the container, it is best to remove the stopper, and saw through the top wall. The second cut is made exclusively in the horizontal direction. It is best if it is located in the upper part of the canister, on the end sides. Samu plastic container you need to cut from the top wall at a distance of 4 cm, and on the sides at a distance of 3 cm.

When all the cuts are made, the canister can be opened. To do this, you need to bend all the side parts of the top cover with the halves of the handle. In this box you can store various materials for fastening: nails, bolts, screws, nuts. Upper part you need to close it by folding the handles together. This device is secured with a screw cap.

To make the box as strong as possible, additional gaps must be made on the end walls. Small holes are drilled in the lid itself or in the walls into which hooks are inserted, as well as bolts and nuts.

Metal box for tools

This option is most suitable for experienced locksmiths who have necessary equipment and material. Factory-made metal tool boxes are made from lightweight metals such as aluminum. As a result, the product is as light and durable as possible. But working with aluminum at home is much more difficult.

Even a beginner can make this version of a metal box. After all, the most ordinary box and special partitions will be made of metal. Initially, you need to prepare the main material - galvanized steel (0.4 mm thick). Tools you need to prepare:

  • Marking caliper.
  • Metal square.
  • Ruler.
  • Hammer.
  • Pliers.
  • File.
  • Sharpened core or marker.
  • Anvil.

Next, drawings and markings are made. You only need to mark those places that will later need to be deleted. Now you can start cutting using metal scissors. After trimming all the excess, you should get a kind of geometric figure (winged rectangle).

Next you need to use an anvil. Tapping with a hammer, gradually bend the edges of the workpiece. It is better not to work in a chaotic manner; all actions must be consistent. First, one side is bent, and then another. To wrap protruding parts, pliers are used.

After these manipulations, you need to go over the entire structure with a hammer to level it. In this case it will be small metal box for storing tools. In the future, you can experiment not only with the sizes, but also with the shapes of such boxes.

Almost every home has some kind of tool. When there are too many of them, you can make your own multifunctional box to store them. Experienced craftsmen They believe that such a box is considered an integral attribute for storing various devices. Such boxes can be stored in the workshop and even taken with you on a long journey.

Hello everybody!

Today, a tool box is a very indispensable thing for every owner. Most of us have a lot variety of instruments, which we may not use very often, but nevertheless, we keep it, since more than one repair cannot be done without it. To ensure that the tool is in one place and convenient to transport, we use special boxes. Often we simply buy them at the nearest store; the range and variety allows us to do this. But why not make it yourself? The manufacturing process is not too complicated, anyone should be able to do it, especially with something made with their own hands, which is much more pleasant to use than a purchased version. This article will describe 4 different ways manufacturing of boxes, photo report attached.

Let's start making!

Manufacturing method No. 1

We will need:

Material

Plywood;
- pine board;
- nails;
- wood glue.

Tool

- drill;
- hammer;
- chisel;
- manual frezer;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- roulette.

The first step is to find the necessary material; plywood or scrap boards are suitable for this. Next, according to the presented drawing, you need to make markings, then cut out all the parts of the body. It is necessary to make special grooves in which the partition will be placed; for this we use a hand router or other available tool.

The diagram shows the following body parts:

1 - wall (2 pcs.);
2 - sidewall (2 pcs.);
3 - bottom;
4 - groove along the thickness of the partition and a depth of 1/2–1/3 of the thickness of the material

When everything is ready, all elements of the box body should be sanded. Next, we assemble the body together, fix the parts with wood glue, and then additionally secure them with small nails.

Now we make a partition for the drawer, cut out a special handle, and use a jigsaw for this.

When the partition is ready, lubricate the grooves with wood glue and install it in its place.

Next, we make overhead handles from the planks and round the corners using a planer. Then we make tool holders from the slats, use a jigsaw, and a drill. The holes will serve for screwdrivers, and the square cutouts will accommodate pliers, etc. tool.

So that the box does not get dirty, and there is protection from environment, coat the surface with varnish. As a result of the work done, we get something like this: homemade box.

Manufacturing method No. 2

Box-stool

Material

Plywood or OSB;
- wooden beam;
- self-tapping screws;
- wood glue.

Tool

Available cutting tools;
- screwdriver;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- roulette.

We take an existing sheet of plywood, make markings on it, and according to the presented dimensions, cut out the cover (Fig. 1), then the longitudinal drawers (Fig. 2) and the sides (Fig. 3).

Next, we take a wooden beam with a cross-section of 40x50 mm, cut out a handle, and 4 legs with bevels at the ends at an angle of 15°.

Next, we assemble the structure together, using self-tapping screws as fixing elements.

Parts layout:

1 - cover;
2 - drawer;
3 - handle;
4 - leg;
5 - sidewall.

When everything is ready, use sandpaper or grinder round off sharp corners and clean the surface. Next, you can apply a protective coating.

The end result should be such an unusual tool box, which, if necessary, can be transformed into a regular stool, to do this, just turn it over and put it on its legs, with the help of it it will be convenient to reach the place we need, at a time when height does not allow do this.

Manufacturing method No. 3.

Box for a young master.

Does your child love to make things? We suggest making a small box with him where he will store his favorite instrument.

To make a box with your own hands we will need the following

Material

16 mm boards;
- round wooden beam;
- self-tapping screws;
- wood glue.

Tool

Available cutting tools;
- screwdriver;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- roulette;
- clamps.

First, we need to take existing boards with a cross-section of 16 mm, then we make markings according to the provided dimensions, after which we cut the wood into the component parts we need.

The drawing shows the following details:

1 - sidewall;
2 - bottom;
3 - handle;
4 - handle stand;
5 - holder.

Using sandpaper, sand the surface and remove sharp corners. When everything is ready, we begin to connect all the parts together, first we need to connect the bottom and sides, then we place along the marked lines vertical racks and at the same time place the horizontal handle.

We fix everything with glue and screws. Then we install special holders for screwdrivers.

Now you can paint, choose the color and coating at your discretion.

The toolbox is ready.

Manufacturing method No. 4

The next version of the tool box is well suited for carrying various equipment that we need, it appearance will be distinguished by solidity and reliability.

To make a box with your own hands we will need the following

Material

The board is no thicker than 12 mm;
- self-tapping screws;
- wood glue;
- pen;
- corners 8 pcs.;
- latch 2 pcs.;
- loop 2 pcs.

Tool

Available cutting tools;
- screwdriver;
- ruler;
- pencil;
- roulette;
- clamps.

To make the box we use wood such as pine, linden or poplar. Most optimal thickness the boards will be 12 mm thick.

Next, we make markings according to the dimensions indicated in the drawings, after which we cut them into component parts, as shown in the photo.

The entire list of necessary parts.

In order to make sure that the wood was cut correctly, you need to put all the parts in a single box.

First we collect bottom part and a box lid, for convenience we use clamps and corner clamps. We fix the parts together with wood glue.

Then, using a drill, we drill a hole for the screws and countersink the holes.

Now we fasten the body of the portable part, install partitions, and fix them with self-tapping screws.

Next, we install the handle that we need for carrying.

For quick access to tools, you should properly organize your storage system. An organizer and a tool box help to cope with this. They are made with their own hands from solid wood, plywood, chipboard, various types plastic and tin.

The material is selected based on the size of the product and the skills of the carpenter; each has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Domestic varieties

Open or closed stands and spacious chests of drawers are suitable for stationary storage of tools. In these options, everything depends on their location - a garage or an apartment. In the first case, it is more convenient to organize a stand of the required size on the wall so that everything is open and freely accessible.

Designs with shelves or retractable plywood drawers, cabinets and even a suitcase are suitable for apartments. They can accommodate organizers and cases for power tools and hardware. Small stands can be built on the doors and side walls. The more correctly the filling is organized, the longer the order will be maintained.

To accommodate the main set of tools, wrenches, heads, bolts and nuts, a small container with a handle can serve as mobile options. If the dimensions are large, you can attach wheels to it. Then you should select the material, calculate the acceptable dimensions, choose the model and type of fasteners, draw up a drawing of the tool box with your own hands or use ready-made proposals. After this, you can begin manufacturing.

In addition to safety, a DIY tool box helps when performing work. Its sorted content, when each item is in its place, allows you to find everything you need over time, without even looking inside.

The standard placement of a hammer, keys and pliers occupies one large compartment. Screwdrivers are inserted into holes on horizontal strips.

Classic drawer options

This type of DIY tool case is easy to make. The accessories of the main set lie in sight, each in its place. It will be useful for transferring outside the workshop. Tool carriers are heavy, so you should not make them large or entirely made of boards. Some parts can be replaced with plywood.

Open with partition

Before starting work, make sure that the workpiece material is dry. To make the first version will be needed following materials and tools:

  • pine boards;
  • plywood;
  • thermal or PVA glue;
  • nails and screws;
  • hacksaw, jigsaw or grinder;
  • drill or brace and wood drill bits;
  • hammer;
  • chisel;
  • tape measure or ruler;
  • pencil or marker.

Plywood or scraps of pine boards are suitable materials. According to the drawing, markings are made and blanks for the body are cut out. Special grooves are cut out in which the partition will stand. To organize them you will need a router or a hacksaw with a chisel.

The drawing shows classic sizes, which are optimal for assembling the box. All blanks are cut according to the diagram, When changing one parameter, you must proportionally subtract or add from the others:

  • transverse walls - 2 pcs.;
  • sidewalls - 2 pcs.;
  • groove for the partition.

Sand all prepared elements and assemble a rectangular box. To prevent the structure from falling apart, the fastening points and ends of the workpieces are coated with glue. Additionally, the box is knocked down with small nails or screwed together.

At the top of the plywood blank, a handle is cut out with a hacksaw, jigsaw or grinder. The prepared grooves are lubricated with glue. After this, a partition is installed in them.

Handle linings are made from blocks. The corners of the workpieces are processed with a plane and sandpaper, and secured with glue or nails. From wooden slats cut to the size of the partition, you need to make holders that are placed horizontally on the partition. Suitable holes are drilled for screwdrivers using a drill. Pliers, wire cutters, etc. are placed in rectangular grooves.

The entire structure must be covered protective composition. For this you can use varnish or paint material with special additives.

Organizer in a stool

With this design of a tool organizer with your own hands, you can carry the tool to the desired place and sit on it and reach a place that is slightly higher than your height. The materials and tools are the same as in the previous case. The following are cut from plywood:

  1. Cover 550x380 mm with a cutout in the center 140x40 mm.
  2. Longitudinal drawers 470x150x540 mm and a bevel angle of 75°.
  3. Two sidewalls 306x380 mm.
  4. The legs and handle are made of bars 385x40x50 mm. Saw off bevels at the ends at an angle of 15°.

Assembly is done with screws. Sharp corners are rounded with sandpaper. The product is cleaned of dust and coated with a protective compound.

Type of homemade carrying

If you want to make something more elegant with relief shapes on the side posts, this homemade tool box is just right. First you need to take boards 16 mm thick. Make parts from them, as in the diagram, and take a round aluminum stick or other metal tube.

Along lines parallel to the edges, holes are drilled on the side walls for self-tapping screws to fasten the structure. Sanding paper or use an electric machine to remove burrs and smooth out sharp corners. After this, the prepared parts are assembled: the bottom and sides are fastened with glue and screws.

Using the same marking method, vertical posts are installed, between which the horizontal handle is fixed. Screwdriver holders are screwed in with self-tapping screws. The entire surface is cleaned of excess glue and dust.

For protection, the product is coated with varnish or paint. Once dry, the box is ready for use.

Every home craftsman knows that storing and transporting a tool is much more convenient in a special tool case. If you do not have a separate workshop and workbench, then this becomes the only possible option in order to collect all the tools in one place.

It would seem: it’s even simpler - a tool box, what could be special about that. However, this is only the initial impression of a person who has not encountered this problem in real life.

A tool box should be not so much spacious as it should be practical, provide easy access, allow you to store not only the tools themselves, but also Consumables or accessories that will help you need them in everyday work.

Its design must be strong enough to serve faithfully long years. In this article we will focus on all the implicit criteria for choosing a tool box, consider issues related to design features and help you understand the variety of products on the market.

If you look at the price lists of companies offering products for craftsmen, and pay attention to the photographs of tool boxes presented, even the most experienced craftsman will note the variety of various designs different sizes, capacity and made of various materials.

How not to get lost in this diversity and choose exactly what you need, while saving family budget and get the optimal combination of price and quality - read about this in this article.

Modern tool box

If we use to store business papers and documents in Everyday life organizer, then the tool needs its own case - a special tool box. You can divide tool boxes into professional and universal, which are most often used in the household.

Our grandfathers generally made a toolbox with their own hands, but today there is no need for this - you can always find what you need on sale at a very reasonable price. Naturally, those who like to do everything with their own hands still have the right to express themselves here and assemble an original case that meets all individual requirements.

Professional boxes are generally made for specific sets of tools, which depend on the type of activity.

Naturally, in this case, it is possible to distribute the contents in the most optimal way, to provide everything that is required: from special mounts for specific devices and tools, to drawers for consumables and spare parts.

All tool boxes are divided into two types:

Cases. Such tool boxes are a flat suitcase with an opening design and compartments of a certain shape for specific tools: drills, keys, screwdrivers, etc. There are designs with customizable partitions that allow you to change the internal arrangement.

Container type box. This design usually has an opening top. Inside there are several compartments separated by a partition. The design includes separate lockable drawers.

Simple and small designs have a handle for transportation. More complex designs can be mounted on trolleys, have drawers, many compartments and separate boxes assembled into a single structure.

Container designs are more versatile, spacious and easy to use, but they are inferior in ease of access to case-type boxes.

Homemade designs

It is impossible to unequivocally answer the question: how to make a tool box with your own hands, since there are a huge number of options, unlimited by anything except your imagination. I would like to note that you can use old paper cases, bags, or make a complete box yourself. The material used is metal or wood.

Internal partitions are also made of wood or plastic. The lids are hung on hinges; it is necessary to provide a lock that will protect against accidental opening.

The finished box is painted or sheathed with improvised suitable material, both outside and inside.

Not obvious aspects of choice

In the selection process, first of all, look at the material from which the case is made.

Plastic tool boxes are lightweight and easy to use and repair. Even so, they don't hold up very well mechanical influences and loads.

Stronger and more durable metal tool boxes made from aluminum, its alloys or steel. With greater weight, they are more durable, but require periodic maintenance: restoration of the paintwork, cleaning of rust and traces of corrosion. Among other things, metal boxes are more expensive.

If you need to transport bulky and heavy tools, it is better if it is a tool box on wheels.

Homemade designs most often represent wooden box for tools. Main disadvantages: bulky, heavy weight. At the same time for wooden structures are characterized by a specific advantage, namely: the tree stores well metal tool, because it absorbs moisture from the surrounding space.

Keep practicality in mind: the drawer should provide easy access to all tools. It must have a fairly reliable case that protects the contents from moisture, dust and external influences.

It’s not always convenient when there are too many compartments and drawers inside: you can get confused in them and spend a long time looking for what you need.

Pay attention to the hinges and lock - as practice shows, these are the elements that most often break.

Photo of tool box

Many owners have accumulations at home a large number of different instruments that need to be stored somewhere. Shoving them into different cabinets and shelves is not a solution, since you may not be able to find the tool right away when you need it. For complete storage, a hand-made tool case is perfect. Of course you can buy it in the store. But this will require a considerable amount of money, since a high-quality tool box is expensive, and cheap cases will not last long. But you can make a tool box exactly the way you need it on the farm. Moreover, you can choose the design and material yourself, and less money will be spent. If you are a real owner, then you often have to do home repairs. And how nice it is to do this when you know that necessary tool always be at hand, which greatly simplifies this very repair. See how to make a tool case with your own hands, one that is suitable for their complete storage and transportation.

From the tutorial you will learn:

Lada Kalina Sedan › Logbook › DIY suitcase with tools

I've been thinking about this for a long time. There were keys available from old stocks, heads were bought as needed and everything no longer fit in the first aid kit box, and the tool loves order. Good set It will cost at least 5 rubles - the toad is strangling, especially when part of the tool is available. And then my father presented me with a suitcase from someone’s stolen (stolen) drill. I bought some insulation from a construction site, dermantin and off I went. Heads, etc. are placed in the lower part. A double-sided tab with keys and the rest of the tool is inserted on top.
There was some inconsistency with the Soviet keys. Our standards differed from foreign ones; as a result, some sizes are duplicated after additional purchase of missing keys. The keys are separate ring and open-end, so that in a situation where 2 identical keys are required, problems do not arise. There are only 2 combined - 15 and 21.
The suitcase has the ability to expand and space for storing new heads (half of which I haven’t bought yet). One 1/2-250 extension cord, a universal joint, a wrench and several screwdrivers have not yet been purchased, but there is room for all of this. I tried to be guided by the set of tools necessary for viburnum + additional tools.

An extension cord with a knob will also fit on this side and I will try to place 4 screwdrivers.

I plan to buy a normal 1/2 ratchet. Although I must admit that this Chinese one, as in the photo, I turned the bolts to 8 lightly.
The set, as is customary, if you put everything that is planned there, includes more than 80 items, and this is already a decent set.
In short, we have a set of 1/4 heads from 4 to 13, 2 extensions, a hinge, 1/2 heads from 10 to whatever will fit. Sets of bits of all types, pliers, cutter. Open-end wrenches from 8 to 24, with the exception of non-running sizes 16, 18, 20, 23, ring wrenches from 10 to 24, combined 15 and 21.
In short, I'm happy. It is quite convenient and capacious to store the main tool in one place. As for quality, part of the tool is Soviet-made and, accordingly, quality (most of the keys), part is matrix (nothing like that), part is force (optimal for price-quality), part is lux tools (made for the OBI network. If anyone is familiar, how is it?), well, the Chinese ratchet no name 1/2 and no name1/4, and there is also lux tools 1/4 - I don’t know which is more reliable, but the lux one seems to be more convenient.

DIY suitcase

Making a suitcase with your own hands, as it turns out, is very simple. Much easier than restoring an old suitcase. This does not require any “reserved” elements and devices, and that’s all necessary materials available and sold in stores at fairly low prices.

Background

As often happens in creative practice, the necessary things are usually found in the trash, like our Soviet-era suitcase, slightly larger than a briefcase. Its dimensions were suitable for storing a bunch of jewelry and trinkets, woven, but lying around idle. The very shabby, dirty and unaesthetic appearance of a useful household item left no doubt: restoration of the old suitcase was necessary.

First, the fittings were carefully removed and placed to soak in a jar of gasoline. Then the linings and ancient torn dermantine were removed. Then it turned out that the side boards making up the frame were rotten, and the walls of the lids were generally made of thick cardboard, punched to huge holes in several places.

The cardboard was torn off and thrown away. Planks were cut out instead the right size from hardboard. Wooden frame sanded to white wood, a couple of walls were replaced with new ones and reinforced with glue and screws. The hardboard covers are glued on and nailed down.

So, we can say that we started constructing a suitcase with our own hands almost from scratch.

Exterior finishing

Dark brown dermantin was used for finishing. The dermantine is marked strictly according to the dimensions of each flap of the suitcase, taking into account the folding on the walls of the inner sides.

Carefully cover the surface of the dermantine with PVA glue, and, accordingly, one of the lids of the suitcase. We glue the material, carefully expelling all air bubbles and excess adhesive liquid, smoothing out any irregularities. We have a felt squeegee for this purpose.

We especially conscientiously roll the material along the perimeter of the edges so that the suitcase made by hand looks aesthetically pleasing, as if it came out of a factory assembly line yesterday.

The hardest part is gluing the corners. We deliberately do not provide patterns, because we assume that everyone home handyman I have my own vision of the technology for high-quality finishing of corners when restoring an old suitcase. The main thing here is precision, a lot of glue and diligence.

We will show a number of photographs that, we hope, will help clarify the technological process of gluing corners.

When the dermantine is stretched onto the frame, it is recommended to walk over the set glue with a warm iron to secure (bake) the gluing. Be sure to iron it with a cloth, otherwise your synthetic material will melt.

At this point, we consider the first stage of making a suitcase with our own hands, or restoring an old one, complete. Therefore, we will put back his accessories.

Internal upholstery

For the interior upholstery, we will make pads on padding polyester, covered with synthetic velvet, or any other suitable textile. The illustration shows the components of “velvet” pillows and part of the procedure for their layer-by-layer formation.

When the pillows are ready, coat the inner walls of the product with glue and glue it inside the pillow.

This is what our “new” handmade suitcase looks like.

We did not attach the handle. The project is to make our suitcase wearable on a shoulder strap, like a sketchbook, but there is no time yet to look for suitable fittings and options for attaching them.

So, we have created a functional item, the practical applicability of which is not limited to storing jewelry or tools. The master class not only clearly shows how to make a suitcase with your own hands, but also comes in handy as instructions on how to restore an old suitcase.

Materials and tools used in the master class:

  • skeleton of a suitcase with accessories;
  • sandpaper, hammer, screwdriver, brush, scissors, mounting knife;
  • hardboard and wooden slats(optional);
  • PVA glue;
  • shoe nails 10 mm long;
  • dermantin, cardboard, padding polyester, synthetic velvet.

Time spent on restoration:

  • giving the product a look suitable for finishing, including sanding and puttying - 2-3 days;
  • finishing - 2-3 hours.

DIY tool box

Tools are an essential attribute of many who do all sorts of homemade projects. When you collect a lot of tools and, due to duty or hobby, you have to take them with you outside the home, a case for storing them becomes a necessary attribute. Let's clarify, a portable case. For a person who does such work, making a tool box with his own hands becomes almost a matter of honor. This is what we will help you with. The result of painstaking work will be a box in which you can not only store all your tools in an organized manner, but also take them on a long journey.

Step 1. The very first thing you should do is create a toolbox design. The author of this master class used Sketchup program, you can also refer to computer programs or draw the design of the box on paper. Make all the calculations and write down the main measurements.

Step 2. Transfer all measurements using a tape measure, ruler and chalk onto a sheet of plywood. Try to arrange them as compactly as possible. Along the drawn lines, cut out all the blanks for the future box.

Step 3. Mark all the grooves with chalk and cut them out on the blanks. Use a chisel to smooth out any rough spots. The grooves will allow your drawer to hold more securely.

Step 4. Now the structure needs to be glued together. Take glue for the main part of the box. While gluing the sides, squeeze them forcefully. Using rubber strips, you will need to tighten the box frame and leave it like that until the glue has completely dried.

Step 5. The corners on the drawer doors should be rounded.

Step 6. You need to make a durable handle from MDF. To do this, its layout should be sketched in pencil on wood and cut out. After the handle is cut, treat its surface. Attach to the box itself using glue and screws. If you don't want to devote time to this process, purchase the pen separately. When purchasing, pay attention to its strength.

Step 7. Now it’s time to assemble and fasten the doors and the outer box lid. Mark the places for the loops with a pencil and secure them.

To attach the outer cover, prepare a hole for a screw.

Step 8. To ensure that all the tools are in their places inside the box, you should make compartments and departments. Based on the principle of creating the box itself, drawers should also be built by cutting out their component parts, making grooves and gluing them together. For screwdrivers and other things, make an insert with slots from a sheet of plywood on one side of the case. To secure other types of tools, cables and extension cords to another wall, attach Velcro. You can take self-adhesive Velcro or use regular ones with hot glue.
