How to take a measurement

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken. Even expensive, beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the slats are constantly rubbing against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

Not a single window opening has absolutely ideal geometric shapes, so measurements in height and width must be made at least at two points.

When installing in a window opening, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right side arches, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value. For wall mounting, you need to add at least 10 cm to the wide side of the slope. The length of the slats can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor. Ceiling installation implies determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Mounting options for plastic windows

There are several mounting options: with and without screws.

With self-tapping screws:

It is necessary to mark the places where they will be located.
Then make holes and attach the brackets.
Secure the blinds.
Also make two holes on the bottom.
Secure the ends of the blinds with plugs.

Without self-tapping screws. First of all, you need to mount the curtain, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this structure must be fixed on the window in order to mark for fastening. The second step is to attach the brackets with adhesive tape at the top of the frame and the string tensioner at the bottom. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is advisable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted into the mechanisms.

How to care

Due to the peculiarities of their composition, the materials from which blinds are made do not require special care. Once a month, such curtains can be dry cleaned, and once every few months - wet cleaned. A good addition will be treated with sprays against burnout, exposure to moisture and dust.

If necessary, you can wash such blinds using a gentle wash cycle or by hand.

How to properly attach to the ceiling

Vertical curtains They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade. The brackets on which the structure is supported are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued with double-sided tape. Special tape seems rather impractical, however, it is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly mark for installing the brackets. Once they are glued, moving them will be quite difficult.

Preparing tools.
Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.

You will need a screwdriver and wire cutters

Using a special screw, we connect the PVC bracket to the universal bracket.

Installing roller blinds on a window

We make sure that nothing will interfere with the opening/closing of the roller blind. If, for example, a window handle interferes with the opening of the structure, then you can turn the curtains over so that they unfold counterclockwise rather than clockwise.

Assembling a roller blind. We insert a plug into one end of the pipe, and install a mechanism with a control circuit into the opposite end;
To mark and drill holes for self-tapping screws, we apply the curtains to the window. We align the shaft horizontally, to do this you need to use a level.
After this, install the clamp into the bracket and fasten it to the bracket.
Pass the fishing line into the special lower hole in the bracket so that it does not fall out, make a knot. The fishing line from the other end must be threaded into the guide and pulled into the lower clamp.

Horizontal

Horizontal structures can be fastened in four ways:

to the ceiling;
to the wall above the window;
in a window opening;
to the window sashes.

First you need to take measurements. The height and width of the window opening are measured with a tape measure. On a piece of paper you need to draw a diagram of the window, on which you can then take measurements.

When installing curtains in a window opening their size is calculated by subtracting 1 cm from the height and 2 cm from the width.

When installed above a window opening The size of the blinds is calculated based on adding 5-7 cm to its height and 20 cm to its width.

When attached to the sash The width is measured from the joint of the bead with the window on the left side to the joint of the bead with the window on the right side, adding 1 cm.

When measuring height on a blind window 3 cm is added to the distance from bead to bead, on the sash - 4 cm.

The technology for installing ready-made aluminum blinds on plastic windows is as follows:

Straighten the structure.
Remove the control handle.
Attach fasteners to the top bar.
Attach the structure to the installation site and mark the mounting locations for the brackets. The distance between them should be at least 60 cm.
Attach the brackets to the wall, window frame or sash.
Insert the top cornice into the brackets.
Open the blinds and mark the attachment points for the lower fasteners.
Attach the lower clamps.
Insert the adjusting knob.

Important!Make sure that the brackets do not get caught in the control mechanism, cord clamp or support.

If the finished blinds are longer than necessary, they can be trimmed. To do this, you need to remove the side ones and remove the lower clamps from the bottom bar. Then pull out the knots of the cord from the two holes formed and untie them. Remove excess slats. Re-insert the cords into the holes in the bottom bar and tie knots. Replace the bottom and side clips.

It is possible to shorten the blinds in width, but this is much more difficult to do. In order not to spoil the curtain, it is better to contact a specialist. Installing roller blinds

To install roller blinds on a wall, in an opening or on a ceiling, drilling and the presence of a drill or hammer drill will be required, depending on the material from which the ceiling and walls are made. If the blinds will be attached to the sash, then to calculate their dimensions you will need to know not only the width and height of the window, but also the depth of the glazing bead. Important! The length of roller blinds is calculated based on the fact that there must be at least 50 cm of fabric on the roll.

The technology for fastening roller blinds without drilling is as follows:

Install a plug on one end of the roll, and a rotating mechanism with a plastic chain on the other.
Insert the clamp into the bracket and fasten it to the bracket.
Install the brackets into the roll according to the instructions.
Attach the curtain to the mounting location.
Mark the mounting locations for the brackets.
Check that nothing is blocking the opening of the curtain.
Degrease the place where the brackets are attached.
Place tape on the sash where the bracket is attached.
Degrease the brackets.
Unstick protective film tape.
Hang the blinds by pressing the tape where they are attached.

If you purchased a ready-made curtain, but it does not fit your window, then its size can be reduced. In order to shorten them in width, you will need to cut the roll, the canvas and the bottom rail. It is much easier to cut the fabric to length. The fabric is cut with ordinary scissors under a ruler, and then the bottom rail is attached to it.

Installation of cassette blinds

Cassette blinds are also attached using tape. In order to install them, you must:

Print the product.
Degrease the place of attachment to the window frame.
Attach the cassette to the attachment point and lower the fabric to the bottom position.
Mark the location where the cassette is attached with a pencil.
Remove the protective film from the tape attached to the back of the cassette.
Place the cassette on the frame, press and hold for a few seconds.
Carefully remove the protective tape from the top edge of the metal fabric guides on both sides.
Install the guides into the groove of the curtain body cassette and press down.
Gradually removing the protective layer of tape, press the guides parallel to the frame bead.

Vertical

Vertical curtains can be attached in three ways:

in a window opening;

In the window opening

To calculate the dimensions, you need to measure the width of the window opening and subtract 1-1.5 cm. Measure the height of the opening and subtract 1.5-2 cm. Measurements must be taken 5-7 cm deep into the opening, since it usually narrows. To make sure that after installing the blinds the sash will open, you need to measure the distance from the top edge of the sash to the upper slope of the installation point of the cornice. The distance must be at least 4.5 cm. Otherwise, you will have to measure into the overlay. Since the window may be uneven, measurements of width and height must be made at three points.

You can attach vertical blinds to a window opening in this way:

Mark the attachment points.
Drill holes.
Install brackets.
Insert the curtain rod into the special grooves on the holders and snap the locks into place.
Install fabric.
Insert weights.
Secure the bottom chain.

Above the windows

To calculate the size, add at least 18-20 cm on each side to the width of the window opening. You will also need to measure the distance from the ceiling to the upper corner of the slope. You should retreat at least 10 cm from the upper corner of the slope. Measurements with fastening to the ceiling are made by subtracting 1-2 cm from the distance “ceiling - window sill”, “ceiling - floor” - 4-7 cm.
