Installation of blinds on PVC windows. How to hang horizontal blinds

Installation vertical blinds can be done independently if you follow step by step instructions installations. It is also important to know how to care for blinds and what types are intended for which windows.

Species

Vertical blinds are divided into the following types: classic, inclined, corrugated, arched, day-night and accordion. When installing vertical curtains, it is important to know which type is suitable for which window and interior:

  • Classic. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed for room darkening, protection from heating by sunlight, zoning internal space premises.

  • Oblique. A type of pleated specifically for windows that are located at an angle in the attic or ceiling. Their feature is a specific assembly system, which does not allow the canvas made of any material to sag when at an angle. Mostly inclined models are produced with electronic control.

  • Corrugated. This type is a vertical and horizontal double pleat. As a result, the folds look smoother, neater and denser. A corrugated model made of plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects the room from bright light.
  • Arched. Maximum flexible fabric sheets that take any shape, like a paper fan. A good solution for rooms with non-standard form windows (arches, trapezoids, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day-Night". The canvas of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: light, permeable large number light fabric for daytime use and dense, dark fabric for protection from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.
  • Harmonic. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weights, and pleated fabric that resembles accordion bellows. The range of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities

This product has a number of distinctive features:

  • They can be closed from top to bottom (classic canvases), from bottom to top, or from both sides at the same time. In this case, the degree of density of the “accordion” can be adjusted: by closing either the upper, lower, or central part of the window.
  • Suitable for covering irregularly shaped windows.
  • Optimal solution for attic, attic, ceiling and inclined windows.
  • When opened, the canvas folds compactly and hides inside the cornice.
  • Convenient for installation on all types of windows.
  • Various ways fastenings and control mechanisms (manual and electric).
  • The woven fabric is washable.
  • The curtain fabric can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to regulate the degree of transparency, darkness, and sun protection.
  • Easy installation can be done by yourself.

Advantages

The following are distinguished:

  • Compactness. Blinds occupy a minimum of space, allowing owners to show their imagination and organize additional window decoration or leave the window sill as a functional surface.
  • Simple and clear type of control.
  • Long service life. Special impregnation protects the canvas from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, and abrasion.
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Not required special care. It is enough to wipe their small surface area with a damp sponge and soapy water once every few months.
  • A variety of designs for interiors in any style.
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the surface of the glass protects equally well from heat and cold.
  • Possibility to install the system yourself.
  • A variety of materials: from light window decoration to total blackout protection.
  • Possibility to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Required Tools

To install vertical curtains, you don't need many tools. You will need: a stepladder, a set of screws from the kit, a building level and drawing supplies, a drill, a screwdriver.

The following will definitely come in handy: a bracket for the ceiling and for the groover, fasteners, corners, clamps, monofilament, stoppers and c-clips, rings for the rod, chain locks, replacement parts. Each instruction contains a detailed list of required components.

How to take a measurement

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are taken. Even expensive, beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the slats are constantly rubbing against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators, a steel tape measure is used.
  • The obtained figures cannot be rounded; accuracy must be maintained to the nearest millimeter.
  • When ordering blinds, the width parameter is indicated first, length – second.
  • Not a single window opening has absolutely ideal geometric shapes, so measurements in height and width must be made at least at two points.

When installing in a window opening, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right side arches, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value. For wall mounting, you need to add at least 10 cm to the wide side of the slope. The length of the slats can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor. Ceiling installation implies determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Mounting options for plastic windows

There are several mounting options: with and without screws.

With self-tapping screws:

  1. It is necessary to mark the places where they will be located.
  2. Then make holes and attach the brackets.
  3. Secure the blinds.
  4. Also make two holes on the bottom.
  5. Secure the ends of the blinds with plugs.

Without self-tapping screws. First of all, you need to mount the curtain, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this structure must be fixed on the window in order to mark for fastening. The second step is to attach the brackets with adhesive tape at the top of the frame and the string tensioner at the bottom. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is advisable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted into the mechanisms.

How to care

Due to the peculiarities of their composition, the materials from which blinds are made do not require special care. Once a month, such curtains can be dry cleaned, and once every few months - wet cleaned. A good addition will be treated with sprays against burnout, exposure to moisture and dust.

If necessary, you can wash such blinds using a gentle wash cycle or by hand.

How to properly attach to the ceiling

Vertical curtains They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the frame with drilling, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade. The brackets on which the structure is supported are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued with double-sided tape. Special tape seems rather impractical, however, it is fixed very firmly, so it is important to correctly mark for installing the brackets. Once they are glued, moving them will be quite difficult.

The procedure for installing vertical blinds:

  • Preparing tools.
  • Applying pencil markings for installing brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  • Attaching the brackets in a suitable way(with or without drilling).
  • Installation of cornice.
  • Installation of slats. To do this, you need to pull the control cord, with the fastenings for the slats located on it, so that they are in the desired position.
  • Then fix all the slats on the hooks of the fasteners.

Wall mounting

Installation work Wall decoration requires certain skills and experience; it is necessary to take into account some nuances and features. Installation of blinds begins long before preparation work surface and a set of tools:

  • The first step of this process is an informed decision about the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room.
  • The second important point is the correct marking. Much, if not everything, depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be. If all the architectural features of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go easily and smoothly without the help of professional installers.
  • It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, and whether there is a risk of deformation for them.
  • Installation of blinds. Must be carried out exactly with markings and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. The most important point here is the choice between fastening with drilling and fastening without it.

How to hang on the balcony

To install, you must follow these steps:

  1. Degrease the areas of the balcony and fasteners that will be connected with adhesive tape.
  2. Install blinds.
  3. Assemble the brackets.
  4. Mark the mounting brackets. To do this, you need to attach the brackets to the assembled blinds, install them on the window without fastening, mark with a pencil the places for the adhesive tape, and remove the curtains.
  5. Install the string guide against sagging. Attach to the “ear” of the top bracket and weighting of the curtain, and fix at the bottom in the tensioner, which is installed on the frame.

After purchasing blinds, the question arises of how to install them. In principle, you can turn to professionals, they will do everything quickly and efficiently, but of course not for free. If you don’t want to spend money and you think that you can handle such work yourself, then this article is for you.

I draw your attention, try to assess your strengths and capabilities without emotions, pragmatically and calmly, otherwise you may ruin the purchased blinds and damage the window.

Preparation

We decide what type of blinds we purchased: horizontal, vertical or roller blinds.

Horizontal blinds are called blinds with slats (slats) parallel to the floor and ceiling, vertical blinds are called blinds with slats perpendicular to them. Roller blinds are sun protection products that consist of a canvas (in most cases fabric) wound on a shaft.

It is necessary to take the measurements correctly, otherwise all the work will go down the drain. If you make a mistake and the lamellas turn out to be too long, then removing the extra lamellas will not be difficult, but on the contrary, you will hardly be able to add them if you have shortened more than necessary.

Installation of horizontal blinds in the overlay

We measure the width and height window opening, blinds must exceed it in these indicators by at least 3 cm or more.

If the blinds are mounted on the ceiling, measure the distance from the ceiling to the window sill.

If the window is flush with the wall, the handle may get in the way when opening, so you will have to use brackets. Make sure that they do not touch the mechanisms inside the cornice.

The tools you will need are a hammer drill or a drill and a screwdriver.

  1. We fix the brackets at the required height.
  2. Installing the cornice
  3. We mount the control handle.
  4. Checking the result

Installation of horizontal blinds on PVC brackets

You will need a screwdriver and wire cutters

  1. Using a special screw, we connect the PVC bracket to the universal bracket.
  2. Take a piece of cable of the required length and secure the upper cable clamp with a screwdriver
  3. We pass the cable through the cornice and slats
  4. We install PVC brackets on the cornice and attach it to the sash of the plastic window. Tighten the cornice special key from the mounting kit.
  5. Installing PVC brackets for the bottom of the window
  6. Pass the cable through the clamp in the bottom bracket and tighten it
  7. Now all that remains is to install the control knob and check how successful the installation is.

Installation of vertical blinds. Instructions

  1. Mark the wall brackets to a height of plus 2 cm. The extreme fasteners should be removed 10-20 cm from the cornice.
  2. Assemble the bracket with the spring
  3. Drill a hole 6 mm in diameter with a hammer drill in the wall
  4. After inserting the dowel and plugs, use self-tapping screws to secure the brackets.
  5. Install brackets on the cornice to attach the decorative panel
  6. Next you need to install the cornice. Remember, its front part must be inserted into engagement with the short edge of the fastening spring. Gently press the tail of the spring until you hear a characteristic click.
  7. Using a rope, move the runners to one side, using a chain, turn them 90 degrees to the longitudinal axis of the cornice
  8. Attach the slats to the assembled runners
  9. To prevent the slats from dangling in the wind like strips of fabric, we insert weights into special pockets on them
  10. Install decorative panel and the bottom chain.
  11. We check the assembled structure.

Installing roller blinds on a window

Tools: drill or hammer drill, drill bits, level, double-sided tape, anchor screws, screwdrivers.

Roller blinds can be mounted on a wall, in a window opening, or installed without drilling.

We make sure that nothing will interfere with the opening/closing of the roller blind. If, for example, a window handle interferes with the opening of the structure, then you can turn the curtains over so that they unfold counterclockwise rather than clockwise.

  1. Assembling a roller blind. We insert a plug into one end of the pipe, and install a mechanism with a control circuit into the opposite end;
  2. To mark and drill holes for self-tapping screws, we apply the curtains to the window. We align the shaft horizontally, to do this you need to use a level.
  3. After this, install the clamp into the bracket and fasten it to the bracket.
  4. Pass the fishing line into the special lower hole in the bracket so that it does not fall out, make a knot. The fishing line from the other end must be threaded into the guide and pulled into the lower clamp.
  5. Place double-sided tape on the bracket. Don't forget to degrease the surface before doing this.
  6. By removing top layer on tape, we mount the curtain on the window.
  7. We snap the hooks on the brackets until they stop.
  8. Next, we secure the bracket with self-tapping screws and secure the bracket on the other side.
  9. We check the quality of the installation.

Installing mini roller blinds with fishing line

Usually they are installed separately on each of the window sashes

  1. Make sure you have all the necessary components.
  2. If necessary, shorten the curtain fabric, then secure it to the shaft
  3. Thread a fishing line into the holes on the fastening corners and tie knots at its edges.
  4. Cut off the rest of the line
  5. Carefully, using extreme accuracy, insert the capsules into the edges of the shaft with the wound curtain.
  6. Snap the edges of the fastening corner capsules.
  7. Make sure the installed curtain is working properly.

Not many people know that blinds were invented several centuries ago. Today it is one of the most popular decorative and protective devices for windows. This article will talk about how to hang blinds on your own. plastic windows. You can find out what types of multi-leaf window curtains there are and how to properly install vertical and horizontal blinds.

Species

Blinds- one of the types of window curtains, devices in the form of rigid, parallel to each other and adjustable plates made of various materials- fabric, wood, metal, plastic. They have several functions:

  • protect from light;
  • decorate the window;
  • regulate air flows.
There are several types of blinds. The most common of them are:
  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • roll;
  • pleated.
We suggest you understand the advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Did you know? The official history of the invention of blinds begins in 1841. It was this year that their production was patented by the American John Hampton, although the production of rigid curtains had been carried out before. So, since the 1760s, they were produced in Philadelphia by the Englishman John Webster.

Horizontal

Horizontal or Venetian blinds They are thin plates (lamellas) that are arranged one above the other like a ladder. They are connected to each other by a cord, which allows you to open and close them, as well as adjust the height. The plates are controlled using a rotating rod. The slats can be made from different materials- wood, metal, bamboo, fabric.

The main advantages of these types of curtains are:

  • good protection from sunlight;
  • increased heat transfer;
  • possibility of adjusting lighting intensity;
  • reliability;
  • durability;
  • ease of maintenance and operation;
  • the ability to visually expand the size of the room;
  • easy installation;
  • Can be used for any room, including kitchen, bath, balcony;
  • low cost.
There are probably no disadvantages to horizontal blinds. They can only be present depending on the material from which they are made. We will talk about them in more detail in a separate section below.

Vertical

Vertical blinds appeared somewhat later than horizontal ones - in 1960. However, they quickly gained popularity and today are successfully used to decorate various rooms.

These are plastic, metal or fabric slats suspended on a cornice in a vertical position parallel to each other and connected at the bottom with a cord. They are regulated by a side mechanism that rotates the plates - using a decorative cord (chain) they rotate, and using a rope they move to one side, fully or partially opening the window.

The advantages of vertical blinds are:

  • versatility - the possibility of installation in window openings, to the ceiling, to the wall above the window, installation in attic and ordinary windows;
  • ease of installation;
  • ease of care;
  • effective regulation of sunlight flows;
  • good air access when darkened;
  • the ability to combine with regular curtains;
  • the ability to visually increase the height of the room.
Disadvantages include:
  • inconvenience when moving to the side when opening a window;
  • impossibility of placing flowers on the windowsill when mounted in a window opening.

Rolled

Roller blinds have recently entered the field of view of modern apartment design. They are preferred by those who love coziness and comfort in their home. They are the ones who can create them in the bedroom, living room and kitchen. In addition, the appearance of roller blinds is more attractive than other types, while functionality also remains high.

They are designed in the form of a horizontal shaft on which a roll of fabric is wound, and a control mechanism in the form of a cord, a spring holder or an electric drive. The fabric can be lowered and raised to the desired length, completely or partially covering the window. Roller blinds are mounted in the window opening, on the ceiling or on the wall, on the window sash.

The advantages of roller blinds are:

  • ease of operation;
  • easy to care for - the fabric is impregnated with a dust- and water-repellent composition;
  • the ability to implement any design idea;
  • durability;
  • good protection from sunlight and room overheating;
  • the ability to create any degree of room illumination;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • ergonomics;
  • Possibility of installation on roof windows;
  • when installed on each sash, there is no interference with opening windows and decorating the window sill;
  • possibility of making curtains from transparent materials.

The disadvantages include the price, which is much higher than that of more familiar and common horizontal and vertical designs, as well as the fragility of the spring holder.

One type of roller blinds is cassette. This is an option designed for plastic windows. It is assumed that the slats or fabric roll, when closing, are hidden in a specially designed box (cassette) attached to the window sash.

This design allows you to save space, free up the window and window sill, and additionally protect the material from dust, dirt, and deformation. Cassette options are made of fabric, bamboo, aluminum, and plastic. There are three types of cassettes: round, angular and flat.

Pleated

Another option for fabric blinds is pleated. As the name already suggests, these are fabric curtains gathered into a small fold. Their choice is huge and comes in various colors, fabric density, and shapes. Some of them are sewn using a special pattern.

Thanks to this, pleated curtains can fit into any interior, creating an original atmosphere. This option is a piece of fabric that is attached to a special profile and controlled using a chain, cord or electric drive.

Advantages of pleated curtains:

  • originality;
  • external attractiveness;
  • good functionality;
  • durability;
  • reliability;
  • miniature design;
  • the ability to design a window of any shape and from any material.

Original and sophisticated interior solutions cannot be achieved without the use of multi-textured blinds, i.e. those in which the slats are made of various materials using a variety of decor.

Types of material

As already mentioned, in different times blinds were made from various textures. Today, the most common materials for rigid window curtains are fabric, plastic and aluminum, and less often wood. Each of them has both pros and cons.

Fabric

Textile blinds- this is one of the best options for decorating windows and protecting the room from sunlight in apartments and houses. There are both horizontal and vertical designs.

Many people are attracted by the appearance and huge selection of colors of fabric blinds, but are put off by the idea that they will require the same care as regular curtains. However, this is not true.

Textiles for blinds are impregnated with special impregnations that prevent dirt, dust and moisture from being absorbed. Maintenance will consist only of periodically wiping the material with a slightly damp cloth and vacuuming.
High-quality textile blinds do not fade, do not deform, fit into any interior, and are not too expensive. However, compared to metal, plastic and wooden structures have a shorter service life. Textile models are not the best option for the kitchen or catering establishments, as they can absorb odors.

Did you know? The first blinds were made from wooden slats. They were replaced metal curtains. After World War II, fabrics were also used to make window security devices.

Plastic

One of the most popular types, due to its low price and the possibility of use in various premises - office, apartment, public, utility, high humidity. The polymers from which the lamellas are made can be of varying degrees of light transmission, of various colors, with or without patterns. They are practical, lightweight, easy to install and maintain, and are sold at the best price.
Among the disadvantages:

  • creating noise in a draft, with open windows;
  • some polymers turn yellow under prolonged exposure to sunlight;
  • cannot be used near stoves and other heating devices due to poor fire resistance;
  • release of toxic substances during a fire.

Aluminum

Along with plastic ones, aluminum blinds are also popular. They have high strength, durability, fire resistance, and the ability to withstand different temperatures and moisture. Most often used to protect windows in public places, offices, medical institutions. They have an attractive price. They can be horizontal, vertical, cassette.

Disadvantages include heavier weight and the creation of a noise effect in drafts.

Wooden

Wooden blinds are used in certain types of interiors; they go well with fabric curtains and furniture made of natural wood. They allow you to create a warm homely atmosphere. They are reliable, strong, durable, environmentally friendly, and protect well from the sun. At the same time, they are one of the most expensive options.

Installation technology

You can install blinds without the help of professionals. We offer you instructions for working with horizontal and vertical rigid curtains.

Horizontal

Horizontal structures can be fastened in four ways:

  • to the ceiling;
  • to the wall above the window;
  • in a window opening;
  • to the window sashes.
First you need to take measurements. The height and width of the window opening are measured with a tape measure. On a piece of paper you need to draw a diagram of the window, on which you can then take measurements.

When installing curtains in a window opening their size is calculated by subtracting 1 cm from the height and 2 cm from the width.

When installed above a window opening The size of the blinds is calculated based on adding 5-7 cm to its height and 20 cm to its width.

When attached to the sash The width is measured from the joint of the bead with the window on the left side to the joint of the bead with the window on the right side, adding 1 cm.

When measuring height on a blind window 3 cm is added to the distance from bead to bead, on the sash - 4 cm.

Video: how to correctly measure horizontal blinds

Regular horizontal blinds consist of the following elements:

  • upper part - rotary axis, rollers, cornice, brackets, cord clamp, swivel mechanism, top cover;
  • middle part - lamellas and plug;
  • lower part - lower cornice, side covers.
For installation you will need the following tools:
  • screwdriver;
  • pencil;
  • screws.

The technology for installing ready-made aluminum blinds on plastic windows is as follows:
  1. Straighten the structure.
  2. Remove the control handle.
  3. Attach fasteners to the top bar.
  4. Attach the structure to the installation site and mark the mounting locations for the brackets. The distance between them should be at least 60 cm.
  5. Attach the brackets to the wall, window frame or sash.
  6. Insert the top cornice into the brackets.
  7. Open the blinds and mark the attachment points for the lower fasteners.
  8. Attach the lower clamps.
  9. Insert the adjusting knob.

Important!Make sure that the brackets do not get caught in the control mechanism, cord clamp or support.

Video: installing horizontal blinds

If the finished blinds are longer than necessary, they can be trimmed. To do this, you need to remove the side ones and remove the lower clamps from the bottom bar. Then pull out the knots of the cord from the two holes formed and untie them. Remove excess slats. Re-insert the cords into the holes in the bottom bar and tie knots. Replace the bottom and side clips.

It is possible to shorten the blinds in width, but this is much more difficult to do. In order not to spoil the curtain, it is better to contact a specialist. For pruning you will need a fine-toothed hacksaw. The slats should be folded into one strip and cut to the required length. Then polish the ends with a file and, if necessary, tint.

Installing roller blinds

To install roller blinds on a wall, in an opening or on a ceiling, drilling and the presence of a drill or hammer drill will be required, depending on the material from which the ceiling and walls are made. To plastic or wooden windows Roller blinds are attached using double-sided tape and PVC staples without drilling.

If the blinds will be attached to the sash, then to calculate their dimensions you will need to know not only the width and height of the window, but also the depth of the glazing bead. The choice of system will depend on the latter size. If the bead depth is more than 1.5 cm, you need to pay attention to the Uni type system, up to 1.5 cm - Profil and Mini.
Add 3 cm to the width of the glass - this will be the width of the curtain. The length of standard curtains is about 2 m. If they are too long for your windows, they can be trimmed.

Important! The length of roller blinds is calculated based on the fact that there must be at least 50 cm of fabric on the roll.

The technology for fastening roller blinds without drilling is as follows:

  1. Install a plug on one end of the roll, and a rotating mechanism with a plastic chain on the other.
  2. Insert the clamp into the bracket and fasten it to the bracket.
  3. Install the brackets into the roll according to the instructions.
  4. Attach the curtain to the mounting location.
  5. Mark the mounting locations for the brackets.
  6. Check that nothing is blocking the opening of the curtain.
  7. Degrease the place where the brackets are attached.
  8. Place tape on the sash where the bracket is attached.
  9. Degrease the brackets.
  10. Unstick protective film tape.
  11. Hang the blinds by pressing the tape where they are attached.

Video: how to install roller blinds

If you purchased a ready-made curtain, but it does not fit your window, then its size can be reduced. In order to shorten them in width, you will need to cut the roll, the canvas and the bottom rail. It is much easier to cut the fabric to length. The fabric is cut with ordinary scissors under a ruler, and then the bottom rail is attached to it.

Installation of cassette blinds

Cassette blinds are also attached using tape. In order to install them, you must:

  1. Print the product.
  2. Degrease the place of attachment to the window frame.
  3. Attach the cassette to the attachment point and lower the fabric to the bottom position.
  4. Mark the location where the cassette is attached with a pencil.
  5. Remove the protective film from the tape attached to the back of the cassette.
  6. Place the cassette on the frame, press and hold for a few seconds.
  7. Carefully remove the protective tape from the top edge of the metal fabric guides on both sides.
  8. Install the guides into the groove of the curtain body cassette and press down.
  9. Gradually removing the protective layer of tape, press the guides parallel to the frame bead.
  10. Do the same on the other side.
  11. Install a limiter.

Vertical

Vertical curtains can be attached in three ways:

  • in a window opening;
  • to the wall above the window;
  • to the ceiling.
They can have left-hand, right-hand and central control. Below you will find instructions on how to install vertical rigid curtains yourself.

In the window opening

To calculate the dimensions, you need to measure the width of the window opening and subtract 1-1.5 cm. Measure the height of the opening and subtract 1.5-2 cm. Measurements must be taken 5-7 cm deep into the opening, since it usually narrows. To make sure that after installing the blinds the sash will open, you need to measure the distance from the top edge of the sash to the upper slope of the installation point of the cornice. The distance must be at least 4.5 cm. Otherwise, you will have to measure into the overlay. Since the window may be uneven, measurements of width and height must be made at three points.

You can attach vertical blinds to a window opening in this way:

  1. Mark the attachment points.
  2. Drill holes.
  3. Install brackets.
  4. Insert the curtain rod into the special grooves on the holders and snap the locks into place.
  5. Install fabric.
  6. Insert weights.
  7. Secure the bottom chain.

Above the windows

To calculate the size, add at least 18-20 cm on each side to the width of the window opening. You will also need to measure the distance from the ceiling to the upper corner of the slope. You should retreat at least 10 cm from the upper corner of the slope. Measurements with fastening to the ceiling are made by subtracting 1-2 cm from the distance “ceiling - window sill”, “ceiling - floor” - 4-7 cm.

Consumers have only now begun to appreciate all the advantages of blinds and realized that the use of this subject perhaps not only in office premises. Fastening blinds to plastic windows provides good protection from sunlight, without interfering with the opening of window sashes and ventilation of the room.

Design options

Blinds are divided into the following types:

  • horizontal;
  • vertical;
  • roll;
  • pleated.

The slats for them are made from the following materials:

  • plastic;
  • metal;
  • fabrics;
  • wood;
  • bamboo

Horizontal blinds They are, of course, horizontally located and fixed to each other lamellas. They rotate around an axis and rise up when opened. The mobility of such a curtain is carried out using a chain.

Vertical work similarly to horizontal ones. Move according to your wishes: to the right, left or from the center in different directions.

Roller blinds They cover the entire window area and are a single sheet that can always be rolled up.

Pleated blinds have an unusual texture. Curtains that have been corrugated and impregnated with a special compound for strength can be horizontal or vertical. They are assembled with an accordion and can be mounted on a window opening or on a frame. The structure is controlled using a cord or chain.

Which ones to choose for the balcony?

Since in summer time all rooms are always ventilated, it is worth thinking about whether it is necessary to install blinds on plastic windows for a balcony or loggia? Will they interfere with the constant opening and closing of the doors? The answer is clear - you need blinds on the balcony. Especially when the balcony is turned into a separate room.

When choosing this decorative element for a balcony, carefully study the features of fastening the blinds. Of course, you should not forget about personal preferences and tastes. Thanks to the variety of configurations, materials and color shades, you can choose light filters for any interior, but following a few rules when choosing:

  • balcony windows often open, so blinds must be practical;
  • their fastenings must be reliable and functional;
  • for a balcony it is better to choose fabric or plastic models, since wooden and metal ones make a lot of noise;
  • not all types of blinds fastening are suitable for balcony windows , in particular for sliding and aluminum ones.

Tip: Plastic blinds will be the best option for balconies and loggias. They do not fade in the sun, are light in weight, easy to use, easy to clean and retain their decent appearance for a long time.

How to decide on your own sizes

Those who decide to install blinds with their own hands need to know that measuring the window requires special accuracy. You can get the most accurate result using a steel tape measure. An important condition This process is carried out with precision down to the millimeter. Not a single window (window opening) has an ideal rectangular shape, so any parameter is measured in several places.

Before taking measurements, you need to decide on the installation method, that is, how to attach the blinds to plastic windows:

  • into the opening;
  • on the wall;
  • on the sash.

Measuring rules for each type of fastening

  1. Measurements for fastening blinds to the opening are made according to the width and length of the window opening. Their length is equal to the height of the glass with a margin of 1 cm and taking into account the sealing rubber bands. To determine the width of the blinds to the width window glass the width of one is added sealing gum. It is necessary to ensure that the curtain rod does not rest against the hinges and slopes. The length of the blind chain should be 2/3 the height of the window. The chain is usually located on the loop side. It is also necessary to take into account that assembled form the blinds did not prevent the window from opening.
  2. When attaching blinds to the wall their height is determined independently. They can completely cover the window opening or be slightly higher than the window sill. Their width should be 10 cm greater than the width of the window opening. IN in this case It is also necessary to take into account that the curtain rod of the blinds will take up approximately 5 cm from the top.
  3. When attaching blinds to PVC windows on the sash The distance between two vertical beads is measured. To determine the length of the blinds, the length of the window is measured. If you do not plan to leave a side gap, then you need to add 30 mm to the width of the blinds.

Advice: If you are afraid of making a mistake in the calculations, seek the help of specialists who will correctly measure the blinds.

And this video shows an example of how to measure blinds.

Mounting methods

Before hanging the blinds, you need to decide whether you need a window sill to place, for example, flowers. Blinds are attached in two ways: without drilling or by drilling. The cornice is the basis of any blinds. It is the cornice that is attached to the ceiling, to the wall, in the window opening or to the sash. Special brackets can serve as support for the cornice.

Installation of blinds using drilling

If the curtains are hung on each window sash, then fastening is carried out using self-tapping screws. The top bar of the blinds is applied to the top edge of the double-glazed window, where the attachment points are marked with particular precision. For more accurate fastening, you can pre-drill small holes. Then the brackets are applied to the marked places under the very top of the double-glazed window frame and securely fastened with self-tapping screws using a screwdriver, after which the blinds are installed on them.

Next, a fishing line is attached to hold the slats. To do this, two holes are made on the frame under the lower glazing beads of each sash. The holes are drilled exactly under the corresponding line exits located on the top bar of the blinds. The lower ends of the fishing line threaded into the blind system are threaded into the plugs. The plugs, in turn, are threaded into the holes made, and the fishing line is stretched.

This fastening method is used to install roller or horizontal blinds. Vertical curtains are attached to the upper slope of the window, to the wall or to the ceiling also by drilling. First, holes are drilled in the ceiling or wall using a hammer drill into which dowels are inserted. The curtain rod is screwed on with screws.

Installation of blinds without drilling

If you have to remove and put away the blinds in the future, the holes will become a big disadvantage appearance windows. Therefore, to install blinds on a window sash, you can use brackets, which can be attached to the frame in the following ways:

  • fastening for top part profile if the sash opens;
  • using double-sided tape.

Using magnets on the flap (bottom), the blinds are held parallel to the window when it is opened.

These methods are more gentle and safer in terms of damage to the metal-plastic frame. Attaching blinds to windows without drilling is quite reliable. And you can remove them for cleaning, for example, with almost one movement of your hand.

All blinds have the correct geometric shape, so the markings for attaching the top strip of the blinds must be done with extreme precision. The slightest distortion will ruin general view windows, and will also impede the operation of the moving filter mechanisms.

Mounting Features

Rolled

Roller blinds are best installed directly onto the window sash. This method is associated with ease of installation and subsequent operation. Blinds installed in other ways do not allow the window to be opened when the curtains are closed. The parts of roller blinds are made of plastic, so the structures require careful handling during installation.

It may also be useful to you in landscaping. You will find instructions for installing it on a balcony here.

Horizontal

An important feature of horizontal blinds is the ability to be installed in places where installation and operation of other types of blinds is impossible for a number of reasons. They can completely close the window, or be installed on each sash, and it is also possible to place horizontal blinds between the frames.

Vertical

Blinds of this type are attached in three ways:

  • to the upper slope of the window;
  • on the wall;
  • on the ceiling.

Attached only by drilling. Particular care must be taken when drilling a slope with a hammer drill, otherwise part of the wall may break off.

How to remove blinds

We have looked at options for installing blinds on a window, but there comes a time when these curtains, even the most reliable and durable ones, need to be cleaned or washed. To do this, they must be removed. How to remove blinds and how is this process performed depending on their type?

How to remove vertical

  • Open the slats and assemble them together.
  • Remove the chain from the weights, pull out the weights.
  • Remove each lamella: the elongated part of the slider clip is moved to the side, the lamella is raised up, then moved to the side.

How to remove horizontal

  • Unfasten the cornice from the brackets.
  • If there is a decorative cover, remove it.
  • Lift the slats up and find the tabs of the clamps on the top edge.
  • Pull the lock first towards you and then to the right.
  • Pull the curtains forward and down.
  • Remove the entire structure.

How to remove roll

  • The tongue located on the bracket is bent with a screwdriver.
  • The shaft is removed from the bracket by moving towards you or downwards.

Instructions for installing blinds

This section demonstrates video instructions on how to install blinds on metal-plastic windows. Installation is carried out using self-tapping screws on the window sash.

Good afternoon everyone!

Today I would like to talk about installing blinds on a plastic window. The opinion that window openings in residential premises should be covered with textile curtains is becoming a thing of the past.

Blinds are varied and functional so much that they will give a head start to any curtains and tulle. Before you buy a design a certain color or size, you need to think about how it will be located on the window and how it can be installed.

  • Vertical or horizontal slats,
  • rolled or pleated,
  • fabric or plastic - regardless of these indicators, blinds can be attached with or without power tools.

It is important to choose the location option:

  1. in the window opening,
  2. over it
  3. or directly on the window sash.

Each of these cases is worth considering separately.

Blinds are the most practical way window decoration. Easy to install and easy to maintain, blinds are very popular. Thanks to the variety of types and colors, they will harmoniously fit into any room and complement the interior of the room. In this article we will look at the types of blinds and how to install them on windows. Let's learn how to attach blinds ourselves in different ways.

Species

In construction stores, one’s eyes run wide from the variety of colors and textures of window decor. How to choose suitable blinds and install them correctly? First of all, let's figure out what types of blinds exist.

  1. Horizontal blinds. The most practical, they tightly close the window and protect from light and prying eyes.
  2. Vertical blinds. Most often they are installed in offices or used to decorate blind windows, as they make it difficult to open the windows.
  3. Roller blinds. Close the window very tightly. They can become an independent decoration for a window opening.
  4. Cassette blinds. They consist of a special box that is installed on the frame. Do not interfere with opening windows.

How to choose

When choosing blinds, take into account the functional purpose of the room and the overall style of the room. Blinds can be fabric, plastic, aluminum, bamboo, etc.

A variety of colors and textures will allow you to choose the decor that suits your room. Be sure to measure your window before purchasing. This will allow you to choose the appropriate size product.

How to install blinds yourself

So, the blinds have been purchased. Don't rush to call an installation technician. You can easily cope with this task yourself. In addition to learning a useful skill, installing blinds can be a fun family pastime.

Blinds are installed in three ways:

  1. In the overlay. The product is attached at the top of the opening and covers the entire window to the window sill or below.
  2. In the window opening. Blinds are mounted in the window opening closer to the window. They also close the entire window up to the windowsill.
  3. Separately for each sash. The most practical way. The blinds are attached directly to the sash, thereby allowing you to open the shutters or put the window into ventilation mode without raising the blinds.

Pay attention!

When taking measurements, you need to make an allowance depending on the type of installation. If you are going to attach the blinds with an overlay, add 10 cm to the width and height of the window opening. If you are installing blinds in a window opening, the height of the opening is pure form, width - minus 1.5 cm. When installed on each sash - sash width - minus 2 cm, sash height - minus 3 cm.

Each type of blinds has its own installation characteristics. Next, we will consider separately the principles of fastening products of each type.

Installing horizontal blinds

Typically, horizontal blinds come with all the necessary fasteners. Armed with a screwdriver, we begin the installation. They are installed in the window opening or on each sash separately.

  1. To attach the blinds to the window, measure the required distance and mark the places where the top strip will be attached.
  2. Using a screwdriver, drill holes and attach the corners that will hold the top bar.
  3. Secure the bar at the corners. First on one, then on the second. You should hear a click when attaching.
  4. Unfold the attached fabric downwards, mark the points where the bottom bar will be attached.
  5. Install the bottom bar in the same way as the top using the corners.

Installation of vertical blinds

Vertical blinds consist of a cornice with clamps that regulate sliding/sliding and lamellas - a canvas that covers the window.

The kit contains all the necessary fasteners, as well as detailed instructions on installation. This type of blinds is installed with an overlay.

  1. Attach the curtain rod with clips to the ceiling. You can use the same screwdriver to attach the cornice.
  2. Insert the slats into the cornice. Each part of the canvas must be mounted separately. To do this, insert each strip into the corresponding latch and wait for the characteristic click.

Installing roller blinds

Roller blinds have the same mechanism as horizontal ones and are installed in the same way. It is most convenient to attach roller blinds directly to the sash, then they will not interfere when opening the windows. If you need to fix them in the window opening, it is better to use additional brackets, because the window handle protrudes a few centimeters. Without brackets, the handle will stick out from under the canvas and spoil the overall appearance.

Installation of cassette blinds

Cassette-type blinds are a ready-made box with a mechanism that is attached to the window frame. Installation is quite simple.

  1. Attach the top strip with the canvas using screws.
  2. Then glue the side guides (usually with an adhesive backing) onto the sash vertically.
  3. Unfold the canvas, adjust the boundaries of the upper and lower positions of the canvas.
  4. Install all accessories.

Useful advice!

Blinds have a clear geometric shape, so carefully measure and calculate the attachment points to avoid asymmetry and unnecessary holes.

How to attach blinds to plastic windows

What should you do if you need to attach blinds to the sash, but you cannot drill plastic windows? In this case, you can install the blinds using brackets. The devices are attached to the frame, and mounted on them load-bearing structure blinds. You can secure the bracket to the window frame using:

  • double-sided tape;
  • hook onto the upper part of the opening sash frame.

This method will allow you to securely fix the product and preserve the integrity of the metal-plastic profile.

To correctly install blinds with your own hands, it is important:

  • decide on the type of blinds you want to purchase;
  • choose best option installations;
  • take measurements of the window, take into account the necessary margin;
  • When installing, strictly observe the dimensions of the product;
  • carefully mark the drilling points;
  • Follow the instructions included in the kit.

How to take measurements

How to install blinds

Use dowels and screws that match the fasteners and the material of the walls or ceiling to which the blinds will be attached.

Pay attention!

Before installing the fastenings, check whether the folded blinds do not interfere with the opening of the window.

We advise you to carefully look to see if there will be window handles, flower pots (and other “foreign” objects on the window sills) interfere with the opening and closing of the blinds and the rotation of the slats (window sill, radiators, etc.)

How to install horizontal blinds

  1. Measure the same distance from each edge of the window.
  2. Drill into the wall and insert a dowel corresponding to the wall material (concrete, plaster, etc.), then screw the fastener into place with screws.
  3. Using a level and ruler, mark the location of the second fastener. Screw the second fastener in the same way as the first.
  4. When installing horizontal blinds, it is necessary to use an additional intermediate fastening if the width of the blinds exceeds a certain distance. To attach vertical blinds with a width of more than 1.6 m to the ceiling, it is necessary to install 3 mounting brackets.
  5. Place the additional fastener at a distance of 10 cm from the control cord (this is where the blind mechanism experiences the greatest load).
  6. Attach the blinds to the brackets

Cutting horizontal blinds to width

  1. Lay the folded blinds on a horizontal surface and measure the part that needs to be cut on each side. It is necessary to cut off equal parts of the blinds on the left and right.
  2. Cut the cornice and rail. Don't forget to cover the slats to avoid damaging them.

Cutting blinds to height:

  1. Remove the parts that are located under the lower curtain rod at the bottom of the blinds so that the cord is released.
  2. Untie the knots to release the slats.
  3. Remove excess slats to achieve the required height of the blinds.
  4. Align the blinds by inserting the bottom curtain rod into the last link.
  5. Cut off the loose ends of the cord, tie knots and replace the bottom curtain rod pieces.

Cutting roller blinds

  1. Using a hacksaw, cut off the pipe and bottom cornice.
  2. Cut the fabric with scissors. If the curtains have a pattern on them, you need to cut equal parts of the curtains on the left and right.
  3. Installation of roller blinds on the tube is carried out using double-sided tape located on it. (Be careful not to open the curtains all the way; always leave a little fabric on the tube).

Cutting vertical blinds

Cutting the control rail of vertical blinds.

The slats are easy to cut and install. Cut the slats to the desired height with scissors, following the instructions on the package. Cut the control rail using a hacksaw.

When choosing the material for blinds, you must take into account the room in which they will hang. Best suited for bathroom and kitchen plastic blinds- they are not afraid of moisture and are easy to clean. For the kitchen, we can also recommend aluminum blinds that do not support combustion.

Why are blinds needed?

Their main characteristics are: the ability to easily attach to windows, ease of use and excellent performance of their main function - regulating the light in the room. At permanent job It is also impossible to work at the computer without using blinds.

The only question in this matter is to understand how you can hang blinds on plastic windows in order to get the maximum effect from their use.

Step-by-step instructions for installing blinds

Determining the size

So, the first step is to purchase blinds of the chosen manufacturer, the appropriate size and other individual characteristics. It should be noted that before you go shopping, you must determine the size of the glass: taking this value into account, you need to know that the blinds must completely cover the glass (widthwise), slightly extending beyond the frame.

Unpacking

After purchasing, the first step is to unpack and untangle the cord, and also examine the fasteners.

From what is included in the package, you can set aside the dowels, because in this case the blinds will be attached directly to the window.

Deciding on fasteners

We find a mount for which we will attach our blinds. The second step in installing blinds is to find two metal brackets with latches. This will be required in order to subsequently secure the container with “blinds” on them.

We make markings and install fastening brackets

The next step is marking. To perform it correctly, first of all, you must carefully read the instructions. After all, you need to place the fastening brackets in such a way that it is easy to insert the container into them.

In other words, you need to find optimal distance from the end of the marking. An important point At this step there is a complete exclusion of amateur performance: everything on the window should be drawn with a pencil according to the level, but not by eye.

Otherwise, the curvature of the landing will immediately catch your eye when the plates rise, and this does not look very aesthetically pleasing. It is also necessary to pay attention to the fact that the slats do not move beyond the glass, since if there is a movement, the adjustment of the container will be disrupted.

Useful advice!

The brackets must be secured with the latches facing upwards. However, before this, you must drill the window with a (thin) drill, and then point the screws towards the plastic.

If everything is done carefully, then nothing terrible will happen to the window, because the remaining drilled holes can be removed using acrylic sealant. However, if you perform this step carefully and carefully, they will not exist at all.

We put on the container

Then the container is put on. We cover the latches and determine the correct fit. If the brackets are firmly located on the window, and the container can be easily removed or put on, it must be said that the work was done “excellently”. However, it is not yet fully completed.

The last thing left is to install the lower holders. Their role is to fix the sheet of slats and secure it to protect it from free movement. When lifting, the lower edge of the canvas must be removed from the holders by hand.

Installing the lower fasteners

In order to mark the lower holders, you need to lower the canvas down. Then you need to estimate by eye their position in the case of a tightly stretched fabric.

With a dangling canvas, it is impossible to accurately measure the lower holders. After the measurements have been carried out correctly, you must drill the holes and screw the holder with screws.

Attaching the holders

At this stage, the question begins to worry: how should the holder be rotated - outward or inward?

The answer is quite simple: both when screwing inward and outward, the result remains the same; in any case, no screws remain visible. Therefore, here you already need to rely on your convenience and principles.

This concludes the process of attaching blinds to the window.
