Making a fountain at home. Let's create a decorative indoor fountain with our own hands for the joy of the whole family

Even the smallest fountain can transform the landscape of a dacha or private home beyond recognition. This decorative structure will definitely become a favorite relaxation spot on your site, because it will give you the opportunity to unite with nature at any moment. Do you want this to become a reality faster? There is nothing super complicated here - anyone can make a fountain with their own hands. Don't believe me? Then here are step-by-step instructions with photos, following which you can quickly and without the involvement of professionals get an effective and functional fountain.

First of all, you need to choose the appropriate fountain option for your site. It's about about its dimensions, shape and materials. When deciding this issue, focus on the area and style of the yard of your dacha or private house.

So, for a large plot it is better to choose a classic sculptural model, which will become the center of the landscape composition. And for a modest courtyard, fountains in the form of small architectural forms are suitable: sea shells, fairy-tale heroes, houses, pots and other similar figures.

An original fountain made from scrap materials

But you don’t have to buy a ready-made sculpture, because you can also build a fountain with your own hands. The simplest option is a structure made of stones. To make it, place large flat stones on top of each other, use an electric drill to make holes in each of them and string all the resulting products onto copper pipe- it is through it that water will flow to the top of the structure. Then close the gaps with small stones and treat the cracks silicone sealant.

Choosing a location

The next step is to decide where exactly on the site the fountain will be located. In order for a structure to fully fulfill its aesthetic function, it cannot be installed “anywhere” - it is important to choose the best location. And for this you need to take into account several nuances.

  1. Firstly, there is no place for the fountain to be too open area, since under the influence of active sunlight the water may begin to “bloom”.
  2. Secondly, the fountain cannot be placed among powerful trees - their roots can cause deformation of the tank and waterproofing. In addition, leaves, fluff, fruits and tree seeds will constantly pollute the fountain.
  3. Thirdly, the structure should not be too close to the house, otherwise moisture will fall on its walls with the wind.
  4. Fourthly, it is undesirable to place the fountain in the open wind so that its gusts do not “disrupt” the jets.

Position the fountain so that it can be seen from different parts of the site

Thus, the ideal location for a decorative fountain is light partial shade surrounded by flowers and low bushes.

When you choose a place, proceed directly to arranging the fountain. It involves the phased implementation of three main groups of work:

  • tank preparation;
  • pump installation;
  • installation and decoration of the fountain.

Preparing the tank

In order for the fountain to be durable and solid, it is necessary to equip a special reservoir for hydraulic equipment and water. This is done in the following way:

  • Dig a pit of pre-calculated depth and the diameter you need.

Important! The depth of the reservoir should be below ground level so that the soil around the fountain bowl is not washed away and the base is not deformed.

  • Pour a thin layer of sand onto the bottom of the resulting hole and carefully reinforce its side walls with bricks.
  • Cover the inner surface of the pit with thick plastic film- it will prevent the passage of water.
  • Fix the film along the upper edge of the tank and treat the seams with frost-resistant silicone sealant. Place stones at the bottom of the pit, distributing them over the surface of the film. The stones should not be sharp so as not to deform the film.
  • Install a small emergency drain near the pit to prevent the water level in the tank from rising.

Construction of the fountain

Installing the pump

The fountain will not be able to work without the most important mechanism - the pump. It is he who is responsible for the continuous movement of water flow. General principle The operation of the pump is simple: water is discharged through a nozzle into the reservoir, then enters the pipeline, where it undergoes coarse and fine cleaning, and then the already purified water is sent back to the nozzle.

The quality of the fountain’s functioning directly depends on the type of pump:

  • Submersible - works on the principle of a centrifuge and is located in the center of the fountain reservoir under water. It's cheap, but reliable device, for the installation of which no fasteners are needed - the submerged pump is quite heavy, so it does not budge on its own. It is suitable for small weak fountains.

Diagram: fountain pump operation
  • Surface is a more serious type of pump, which is installed not inside the tank, but on its edge on the surface of the earth. This device is designed for large fountains with complex designs.

Pipeline for pumping system can be constructed from plastic pipes. Their optimal diameter is 16 mm.

Advice. In order to enhance the operation of the pump, additionally install a pressure tank - it will guarantee a constant pressure of the water flow.

Fountain decoration

After the main functional elements are installed, you need to take care of installing the fountain itself, or rather its upper part. If you are using ready-made sculptures, they should have special fastenings for installation. But a homemade stone fountain is best installed on metal slats previously laid on top of the tank.

Then start decorating the structure. The fountain can be decorated with plants, different-sized stones, clay figurines, microsculptures and any other details that seem appropriate to you on your site.

You can decorate the fountain with stones, sculptures and plants

Don’t forget about such an effective decorative tool as lighting. These can be underwater lights, light strips, floating lanterns, land lamps - here you are also unlimited. But remember that lighting structures must be completely sealed, and all their contacts must be protected from water as reliably as possible, otherwise it will be unsafe to use them.

When all work is completed, fill the tank with water and start the fountain.

As you can see, to make a beautiful fountain with your own hands, you don’t need to work hard or spend a lot of money. Do not deviate from the instructions, use quality materials and don’t be afraid to experiment with decor – by following these three simple rules, you will definitely get a functional fountain that will delight your eyes and set you in a positive mood for many years.

Which fountain to choose for your dacha: video

A cool, babbling fountain on a hot summer day is very invigorating and improves your mood. If there is no time or opportunity to get out to a real fountain, then a small home fountain- just salvation! Moreover, make a fountain for your home with your own hands very simple. My Master Class.

For a home fountain we will need:

  • flower pot (without holes in the bottom) with a tray;
  • small water pump (pump for pumping water, powered by mains, sold in hardware stores or markets, costs 300-600 rubles, mine is 6x4.5 cm in size and 5 cm in height);
  • acrylic paints,
  • paints for glass and ceramics,
  • contours,
  • spray paint;
  • pebbles for an aquarium;
  • plastic plants for aquarium;
  • decorative castle, again, for an aquarium.

1. Flower pot will serve as a cup for our fountain self made . To make it look beautiful, it needs to be embellished, that is, painted.

2. I chose “ mosaic" To do this, I applied a golden outline to the outside flower pot arbitrary line cells.

3. Then I filled the cells with acrylic paints, as well as paints for glass and ceramics (I used everything that was at hand and that did not require firing to dry).

4. I painted it with blue spray paint. inner part container and tray. You need to be careful here. It is better to wrap the pot with some kind of rag so that small splashes of paint do not end up on outside pot and did not spoil the drawing.

As an option: you can paint the pot and plate first with spray paint, and then start painting the outside.

5. So, the main job is done! Here's how the pan will be installed.

6. Under the tray there will be a pump for the fountain. In order for water to circulate, small holes must be made in the bottom. holes for drain. In addition, the hose from the water pump will also need to be threaded through the hole in the pan. Since our base is plastic, it is easy to melt the holes with a hot nail (heated, for example, on a stove).

7. Now the details. I lightly painted our water castle with glass and ceramic paints, and covered the circumference of the fountain with colored aquarium pebbles. Of course, you can come up with a different decor for your handmade fountain!

8. When everything is ready, you can collect the fountain. I passed the water supply tube through the window of the ceramic lock and filled the bottom with pebbles for the aquarium.

I slightly enlivened the “landscape” with branches of artificial algae.

And now he is already quietly murmuring, small, but so cute handmade indoor fountain! :)

Reducing indoor air humidity is a side effect of heating an apartment in winter period. Moreover, excessively dry air not only causes discomfort when breathing, but also causes an increase in the number of colds. The dry mucous membrane of the nasopharynx becomes more susceptible to all kinds of infections and viruses. That is why during heating season You should consider humidifying the air.
On sale you can find many different devices for air humidification: evaporator, steam generator, humidifier, etc. Some owners simply place an open bowl of water in the room. As you can see, there are many options, but none of them are suitable for creative people, since our imagination simply cannot accept this simple solution. After all, there is an opportunity to make a very useful and, most importantly, beautiful thing, with your own hands. So, after thinking a little, we found a way out of the situation by offering you, dear readers, to make an indoor fountain. You can install this beauty in any convenient place: on the floor, on a table, on a stand. A decorative fountain will be an excellent interior decoration and will fit perfectly into any style. Moreover, the murmuring water of an indoor waterfall creates a peaceful environment conducive to rest and relaxation.
Master class tabletop waterfall. DIY tabletop fountain.
To make a tabletop waterfall - fountain craft, we first of all need a mini pump for (water circulation in the fountain) lifting water from the lower reservoir to the upper reservoir. It is best to use a pump water pump, which you can simply put in the lower reservoir (pond) and pump water up. Unfortunately, we do not have such pumps for sale, therefore, in this master class, we use a water pump from household appliances, or rather from an electric samovar (photo below).

The lower reservoir reservoir is made from plastic bottle from under oil (5 l). Cut off the lower part with a height of 5-8 cm.

A round cake tray with a diameter of 29-30 cm is used as a base. You can use any shallow plastic container.
Connection of the pump to the lower reservoir. Using a hot soldering iron, make a hole in the bottom reservoir. The hole should be 0.5mm smaller than the diameter of the pump tube. This is necessary to ensure that the connection to the pump is tight, which will avoid leakage. If you cannot tightly connect the pump to the reservoir, you can proceed as follows: put a piece of soft hose on the pump tube and thread it into the prepared hole, which will seal the connection (see photo below).

At this step you can check the operation of our fountain. Also check if there is a leak somewhere.
The above steps are only necessary if you do not have a pump pump.
Relief production. To make the relief we will use construction foam. Cover the entire base with foam to a height of 5-6cm. Wait for the first layer to harden. This will take approximately 3-4 hours and start building up the slide (base of the waterfall) (see photo below). We gradually increase the base of the waterfall by 15-17cm.

After the foam has completely hardened (after 10-12 hours), we begin creating a waterfall. We cover the bed of the waterfall with pebbles and place a small lake on top. After completing the formation of the waterfall, we coat the bed well and, especially carefully, the seams between the pebbles with waterproof glue and liquid nails (see photo above).

After the glue has dried, we check the operation of our tabletop fountain - waterfall. It will not be possible to get a beautiful drop of water right away, therefore, using a gun (hot glue), we form 3-4 nests in which streams of water will form and fall down, see photo above.
Next, we proceed to decorating the waterfall and painting our tabletop fountain. Why will we prepare a special paint?

Pour PVA construction adhesive diluted 1:1 with water into a container, add color and sand. Stir and add sand until it reaches a creamy consistency. Let's prepare several shades of green and paint our craft, applying each layer after the previous one has dried.

The result of painting a decorative fountain is shown in the photo above.
Let's start making the base (pallet) for our tabletop waterfall - fountain craft.

From thick sheet cardboard we cut out a circle with a diameter of 30 cm, and another circle with internal diameter 30cm and outer diameter 32cm, stripes 5 and 1.5 centimeters wide. Glue all the parts as shown in the photos above.

We install our waterfall on the base and proceed to the final stage.
Between working on a tabletop waterfall, I assembled a tree from sequins on a stone, photo below

We glue the tree into a previously prepared place and complete the work on the tabletop fountain - waterfall, covering all the flaws and minor shortcomings.

So I'm ready original craft. Looking at her, you would never think that you can create such beauty with your own hands and use available materials for this. This indoor fountain will make everyone happy. What's not an idea for a great gift?!

It would seem that when we offered you to make a fountain for your home, we were thinking about humidifying the air in the room, but in the end we not only solved this problem, but also brought a touch of originality and sophistication to your home.

We all rejoice at the arrival of summer, but when the sun begins to get very hot, we want coolness. Therefore, many people strive to spend more time near fountains, which will not only freshen the air, but also lift their spirits with the sound of falling water. But you don’t have to go to the square to admire this action. Every person, regardless of whether he lives in an ordinary city apartment or in a private house, can make his own decorative fountain.

Pros and cons of creating

A decorative fountain is primarily an element designed to decorate the surrounding space. It has several key advantages:

But artificial fountains also have certain disadvantages:

  • Need for special care and periodic monitoring. This structure must be cleaned regularly to prevent debris from clogging the pump. It is also necessary to monitor the serviceability of the equipment and promptly resolve any problems that arise.
  • Given that the pump requires electrical power to operate, the fountain will incur certain costs to operate, which can be particularly high if the installation will be in operation for a long time.

Types of structures

Decorative fountains may differ from each other in various parameters. For example, according to the type of placement, they are usually classified into indoor and outdoor. The former are intended for decorating rooms, and the latter are used in open spaces, where they act as component element landscape design.

Based on the type of design, fountains can be divided into several types:

Depending on the nature of the movement of water flow, fountains can be divided into the following types:

It is also customary to additionally highlight annular a fountain in which a ring-shaped pipe is provided, and holes are located in it at the same distance from each other. When water is supplied through them, a flow appears that resembles a ring.

An interesting variation is installation in the form of a hemisphere or hemisphere. It consists of several parallel disk attachments connected in a special way. When water is supplied under pressure, the stream takes on a spherical shape, which gives the entire structure a very unusual and impressive appearance.

Shapes and sizes

Although the fountain can have any size and shape, when choosing them it is recommended to use common sense and remember that it will be somewhat more difficult to care for an installation with a more intricate shape and large dimensions.

The bowl of the fountain can have a symmetrical or non-standard asymmetrical shape. For example, it can be made in the form of an oval, square, circle, triangle, as well as any other geometric shapes, including those that follow the contours of the silhouette of an animal or a person.

Also, fountains can be complex multi-level or made of several interconnected containers. In this case, each element can be equipped with its own nozzle, being an integral part of a more complex installation.

Stylistic design

Fountains used for decorative purposes can be made in a wide variety of styles. Whether a design belongs to one direction or another depends on various factors - appearance, shape and size, material of manufacture.

There are several design options applicable to decorative fountains:

Installation location

In order for a decorative fountain to successfully cope with its role, it is necessary to correctly approach the location of its placement.

Prepare the area in advance so that you can approach the fountain or sit close to it. Make sure that the structure is not obscured by other landscaping elements.

DIY decorative fountain

It is not necessary to pay money to a craftsman to make an original decorative fountain. Any owner can handle this task independently.

Materials and tools

And first of all, you need to prepare the tools, materials and devices necessary for the work:

  • container that you will use as a bowl. It could be old barrel or bath. The main thing is that the product is strong enough without damage to withstand the volume of water;
  • a pipe or a sufficiently strong and dense hose for supplying water;
  • pumping unit;
  • materials for waterproofing;
  • filter;
  • nozzle;
  • shovel.

Manufacturing process

Once you have everything you need prepared, you can proceed to making a decorative fountain:

The fountain you make will last longer if you regularly check the condition of the devices and promptly eliminate any malfunctions that arise, as well as clean the bowl of any debris that gets into it.

A decorative fountain can become one of the main elements of your site and better side change its design. You just need to approach its production correctly. With a little imagination and using unnecessary materials, you can certainly create a creation with your own hands that will look no worse than products made by professional craftsmen.

While landscaping their backyards, some owners at some point realize that there is not enough fountain on their property. You shouldn’t give up on this idea if you have everything planned out long ago and there is no extra space left. After all, it doesn’t have to be a large structure. Even on small areas you can find a place to arrange a compact decorative fountain, which will give you coolness and become a wonderful relaxation area.

If you decide to create it yourself, then you need to thoroughly prepare for this work. And first of all, you must understand what type of installation this installation should have, what material it should be made of, and how water should flow in it. These and many other factors will determine whether you will be satisfied with the end result.

If this is your first time making your own fountain at your dacha, then you should not build a complex configuration installation. This will not only require more time, money and effort from you to create it, but will also create certain difficulties for you in the future during care. It is best to build a small fountain standard form, which can be made from the most common materials and will be no more difficult to care for than any other object on your site.

Decorative ponds and fountains on personal plot can be the main elements of landscape design. Next to them you can arrange a cozy relaxation area. The murmur of living water will create a feeling of peace and tranquility. You can create such a corner with your own hands, even if you have little skill and means.

The principle of operation of the fountain and its types

In order to understand the structure of this useful and decorative structure, a basic knowledge of physical laws is sufficient. All existing fountains are divided into two large groups:

  • having a closed system of fluid movement;
  • having an open water flow system.

The first type of fountains requires a reservoir filled with water. This can be either a pond or a specially selected container, for example, a plastic basin. Water circulation is started by a pump. After the wet “fireworks” splashes out, the liquid returns to the tank and repeats the same path again. It turns out that there is a water cycle - but not in nature, but in a system of tubes connected to the pump.

Fountains of the second type are characterized by the absence of a circulation and, as a rule, are connected to flow-through hydraulic structures. In particular, if done in the outside water pipe hole, you get the most primitive fountain. In this case, no container is required. All that remains is to think about which way to direct the water flows further.

The diagram shows all the components of the fountain

The operating principle of any type of fountain is that liquid is supplied under pressure into a pipe ending with a spray nozzle. The type of nozzle gives the water discharged out a certain shape.

Cascade

The liquid, pouring alternately from one container to another, resembles a multi-tiered waterfall. Instead, you can also run water down “steps” of stones. You can also do without nozzles; the end of the pipe is masked.

Water is transferred from one bowl to another, forming a cascade

Geyser

Vertical water discharge - distinctive feature this is the most common type. It resembles natural springs gushing out of the ground - geysers. Noisy splashes give garden plot liveliness and irrigate nearby plantings.

The geyser resembles springs gushing out of the ground

Bell

A vertical stream of water passes through a special nozzle made of two disks, distributed evenly along its edges. The walls of the resulting water hemisphere become smooth and continuous.

Water passes through the nozzle and turns into a “bell”

Spray

The nozzle for the spray fountain has a lot of holes for releasing water. Some types of nozzles are capable of moving and rotating under pressure, creating either rain or a shower.

The nozzle has many holes, the water at the outlet turns into small splashes

Pump selection

For small fountains the best option would be submersible pump. It is not only more expedient in a home-made structure, but also cheaper.

External pumps are required only where the fountain has a complex structure and occupies a large area. Their noise is not dampened by the water column, and to avoid theft, outdoor equipment must be masked separately. On the other hand, “dry” outdoor pumps are easier to maintain.

An important parameter of the equipment is its power. If the height of the water jet does not exceed one and a half meters, then you should limit yourself to 70 W. If the power is greater, then the cascade will come out higher. Pumps with the ability to adjust the pressure force are preferred; they allow you to change the height of the fountain.

The strength of the water output depends on the power of the equipment

When choosing a pump, you should focus on the ratio of indicators such as pressure and performance of the device. The first parameter characterizes the height to which an upward jet can rise. The second indicates the volume of water that is pumped by the fountain pump per hour.

How to make a fountain with your own hands

The first step is to decide on the location of the hydraulic structure. It should be:

  • away from trees so that the tank remains free from foliage falling into it;
  • away from walls that can deteriorate from excess moisture;
  • away from the paths so as not to block the road.

A good choice would be to decorate a playground or a place for relaxation with a fountain. Flowers, stones, etc. would be appropriate nearby. If on a site with a slope the fountain is placed in a low place, the air for plants growing higher will become more humid and favorable. If you settle at the top, and even with open system, then excess water will automatically water the garden.

Preparation of materials

In addition to the pump purchased in the store, the remaining parts can be assembled from scrap materials. You will need either an unnecessary container or a pond. For the latter, a special hydro-repellent film - liner - is added to the shopping list. To hold the film in place, its edges are pressed with bricks or stones.

Sand, gravel or expanded clay are suitable for drainage.

Often installed on top of the bowl metal grid, on which stones masking the pump are placed. The presence of such a clever detail significantly saves the amount of other materials that would have to be used to fill the water space without it.

A simple diagram of a spray fountain

Work algorithm

  1. Under a reservoir or pond, dig a hole in the ground equal to the height of the container plus 5 cm.
  2. In the direction where the drain will be directed, they are deepened by 40 cm.
  3. Geotextiles are laid on the bottom.
  4. Set up a drainage layer of coarse sand 5 centimeters thick.
  5. The reservoir is immersed in the resulting “hole”.
  6. The submersible pump is installed at the bottom of the tank. To keep it there, the device is made heavier. To do this, attach any object of great weight to it. Alternatively, the pump is placed in a basket and filled with stones.

A hole is dug for a pond or reservoir.

To install the pump correctly, three rules must be followed:

  • disguise. All electrics must be hidden;
  • transformer. The device is connected to a low-voltage transformer located inside the nearest room;
  • electrical safety. All connectors for extending the electrical cable must be reliably protected from moisture. A separate machine and RCD on the line would not be superfluous.

They ensure uninterrupted operation of the pump by protecting it from contamination. To do this, a filter is installed in front of the device nozzle to trap debris. There is also protection against “dry running”.

The finished fountain mechanism is decorated, the reservoir is filled with water and the pump is started. If required, the pump power is adjusted. If desired, the structure can be illuminated for evening relaxation hours.

Is it possible to make a fountain without a pump?

Magnificent Peterhof is famous for its 176 fountains that operate without pumps. The source of water in them is the Ropshinsky springs, passing through many pools and locks. Therefore, if on summer cottage there is a spring, you can “connect” the fountain directly to it.

Another way to do without a pump would be to create a device called Heron's fountain. This option is also suitable for those who do not have natural sources on the site.

The principle of the “eternal” fountain is cyclical

Two of the three containers shown in the diagram - namely B and C - are closed hermetically, water is poured into A - this is a visible fountain reservoir. The whole trinity is located on top of each other and is connected by a system of tubes. In order to start the mechanism, it is enough to add water into the open bowl A. Pressure is created and the liquid begins to move. The magic stops when all the water from the middle vessel goes into the bottom one. The thinner the tubes, the longer this moment is delayed.

You can create a fountain with your own hands using the law of communicating vessels according to the ancient Heronian method even from ordinary plastic bottles. If you use five-liter ones, then one charge of water is enough for 40 minutes of continuous operation of the mechanism. The preferred tubes are those used in IVs. The tightness of the vessels is ensured with silicone sealant.

How to arrange

Statues and figurines always remain classics of the genre. Modeling enthusiasts with artistic talent will enjoy working on masking the pump. The material for the manufacture of monumental figures is polymer concrete - artificial stone. It retains the strength of its forms even in bitter frosts.

Modeling and statues are traditional decorative elements

In a large area, even a car can be disposed of. Let currents of living water pass through it and give strength to the green shoots around, and let the neighbors stop to take a selfie against such an unusual background.

Even an old car can come in handy

A still life like this will be more appetizing. Antique samovars, teapots and cups will be used, and the pump tube will be hidden in the leg of the tea table. The abundance pouring out onto the earth will be a symbol of the endless hospitality of the owner of the dacha.

Fountain-still life - original composition in the recreation area

Imitation of a natural source will always be appropriate among amateurs natural farming. To decorate the fountain, only the stone that is under your feet is taken. Naturalness is ensured by this technique one hundred percent.

Natural stone is one of the popular materials used in landscape design

Great illustration of what to do earthworks not necessary for arranging a fountain. A geometrically adjusted stone slab becomes an obstacle in the way of a source allegedly gushing from the depths and, unable to withstand its power, lets it upward.

An ordinary stone slab can be installed among plants on large pebbles

The fountain in the Art Nouveau style is modern and minimalistic with its right angles. The emphasis of the structure is given by successful lighting in the place where the water flow falls. Bulbs for underwater “chandeliers” are purchased exclusively from LEDs and are completely protected from moisture getting inside.

Successful backlighting will make the entire composition more lively

You can even imitate the miracle of levitation. To create the illusion of a water tap floating above the ground, simply veil the pump hose in a transparent plastic tube. The water flows into the tap, turns around and falls down.

By skillfully decorating tubes and wires, you can create an unusual composition

In this version, it is as if an invisible gardener is watering the flowers in the flowerbed. If the tube is thin enough, it will not be visible from a distance. For such a fountain, any used dishes are taken. Here a bowl was added to the teapot.

An old kettle and a rusty bowl were put to good use

From these bottles will flow continuous fun. With such an original fountain, there is no shame in inviting friends to a barbecue. And let alcohol remain at the celebration of life only in this form - in the form of cooling water.

An original fountain, next to which you can sit with friends

There's nothing easier than putting the old one musical instrument into a bathtub filled with water. A child's rubber duck quietly sways on the waves of pouring “music.” Such an installation would be the envy of the best museums in the world. If desired, the structure is removed and the bath is used for its intended purpose. The versatility of the tank is another feature of the presented masterpiece.

The structure is easy to assemble and disassemble

Care and maintenance rules

The same water, circulating in a circle, gradually evaporates. Adding a new portion is the very first thing you will have to deal with when operating the fountain.

Periodically, the water must be completely replaced to avoid spoilage. Over time, dust settles in the liquid, contaminating it. The water becomes cloudy and appears bad smell. Simple measures can reduce the amount of dirt coming from outside - just cover the top of the fountain with any available material after each use.

When draining the water, it is necessary to clean all the internal surfaces of the fountain. The filter, attached to the pump nozzle, is rubbed with a brush.

Shading the fountain helps delay the blooming of water.

Before the onset of the winter months, all water is removed completely and the fountain is dried. The pump is removed and moved indoors until spring. If the device is planned to be stored in a cold room, after drying it is cleaned of deposits. If the room is warm, you can avoid the cleaning procedure by storing the pump in a bucket of water.

If the size allows and the fountain is mobile, it is moved entirely under cover. If not, the structure is covered with film.

In a pond equipped with a hydraulic structure, it is difficult to frequently change the water. Large debris floating on the surface is caught with a net with a long handle. The process of purifying a reservoir can be started by planting algae and populating it with mollusks. The stronger the pump nozzle sprays, the more oxygen the pond will receive - this also has a positive effect on the freshness of the water.

A properly selected pump and a creative touch in the design are all that is required for complete dacha happiness. They say that a person can look at fire and water endlessly. However, even five minutes spent near a murmuring fountain can give you a feeling of infinity.

The modern rhythm of life created by people also tires them and exhausts their nervous system, which is constantly under stress. Daytime stress often leads to problems with sleep, and in the fight against this trouble, a small indoor fountain becomes our reliable ally.

The main advantages of decorative home fountains are Aesthetic pleasure and air humidification. If there is a small fountain in the room, then there is no need for an air humidifier, and besides, the “fountain” method of humidifying the atmosphere looks more natural. If this fountain is quite large, then it will easily create the most comfortable microclimate in the home for all its inhabitants: people, plants and animals.

Selecting a fountain for the interior

When choosing a decorative home fountain, you should take into account the size of the room. In a spacious room there is a small desktop version the fountain can simply get lost, but floor mini fountains for an apartment with a bowl more than a meter in diameter, they will certainly become one of the centers of attention in the entire room - they will sufficiently humidify and refresh the air. Artificial ones also look impressive in the interior of an apartment if there is a sufficiently large free space. wall compositions , which are a decorative drip or thread-like fountain. True, we should not forget that when arranging wall fountains, heavy building materials are used, such as cast iron and stone, so such decorations can only be started against a strong and reliable wall.

Depending on the interior of the room, you need to choose the material of the fountain, which is usually glass or artificial stone. In a room decorated in minimalist or hi-tech style, fits in perfectly stele, shrouded in a film of falling water (the so-called “ wet wall"), especially considering the fact that occupies one of the main roles.

To the bedroom It is best to find small decorative tabletop fountains and waterfalls that can serve as an elegant night light in the evening. Progress

  • Under the pan you need to install a pump that will circulate water, and you need to make a small hole in the bottom for drainage.
  • A pump tube is passed through the hole, and decorative stones are poured onto the bottom.
  • The entire structure is assembled and filled with water. Appearance can revive aquarium plants.

According to this scheme, anyone can build a miniature fountain with their own hands - all you need is desire and imagination.

We make an indoor fountain without a pump

Independent arrangement own apartment or summer cottages are preferred by many people. And sometimes, to add special elegance to the interior, owners think about how to make a fountain without a pump, since not everyone is “friendly” with electrical appliances and their connections. You can, of course, make a decorative imitation of a fountain, for example, from paper or plasticine, but in this case you will not hear the soothing murmur of real water. A small fountain can be made from a bottle or from plastic containers that are more suitable for the designed design, but you need to remember the school physics curriculum.

In order to make a mini fountain with your own hands without a pump, will be required following materials : three plastic containers, tubes, tools, an adapter, sealant and decorating elements (you can come up with a composition of stone and artificial flowers, or you can limit yourself to just one thing).

Miniature preferences

Determine the dimensions of the future product, but do not strive for gigantism. After all, a large fountain will definitely need a pump, but this is not our case. It is better to make a preliminary sketch of the fountain. If your imagination fails you, look at what a DIY fountain could look like in a photo or video - this way you will have an idea of what final version you should strive for.

Let's remember physics

It is best to base the design principle of communicating vessels , a friend from school physics. If two vessels connected by a tube are placed on different heights, then water will flow from the upper one to the lower one. But this simple system It’s better to modernize it a little: install both vessels at the same level, connecting them with a pair of tubes. The tubes are connected to a “T”-shaped adapter. If you pour water into the vessels from above, the fountain starts working.

We work with two identical vessels

Pick a pair of exactly identical vessels, preferably plastic ones. Then you will need as thin a tube as possible. Moreover, the thinner it is, the longer the fountain will function. A tube from a kitchen filter may work just fine. Holes are carefully drilled in the bottoms of the vessels, which are slightly smaller in diameter than the taken tubes. The tubes should be inserted into the holes (this happens with some interference). Then it is better to treat these places cold welding or other sealant to prevent water leaks.

The third vessel is the final one

Next, you need to move to the third vessel, the volume of which is equal to the sum of the volumes of the other two vessels or even more - so that the water poured out of them completely fits into it. Exactly in the middle of the bottom of a large vessel you need to install a “T”-shaped adapter, and holes need to be drilled in the walls of the vessel near the very bottom. Two tubes are passed through them, coming from the vessels located above. These areas should also be securely sealed. This completes the installation of the main structure of the fountain.

Installing an indoor fountain

Next, you need to install the fountain in the designated place. In this case, you need to do this so that the upper vessels are located not only above the large one, but are themselves at the same level. For home use, the receiver container of an indoor fountain must be removable so that the water from it can be returned to the upper vessels. And, of course, such a fountain needs to be decorated, relying mainly on your own imagination.

Regardless of the fountain you choose, you will quickly fall in love with it for its vibrant streams of water and its calming effect on all the inhabitants of the house.
