A lean-to shed made of corrugated sheets adjacent to the house. Expanding the space: how to make a frame extension to your house with your own hands

IN modern world There are a huge number of different types of country and yard sheds, which differ in design features and use various materials. This type of construction, such as a canopy made of corrugated sheets, has now gained quite wide popularity.

Canopy made of corrugated sheets

Corrugated sheeting is quite durable, reliable material that is not susceptible to influence external factors and can withstand heavy loads. A canopy made from corrugated sheets can be considered not only the most durable and durable buildings, but also the most affordable in terms of financial side. In addition, a structure made from the specified material, regardless of the type chosen, can be installed quite easily and quickly at home with a minimum of tools.

Corrugated sheeting is a fairly lightweight material, created using thin sheets of steel. This material for the construction of gazebos and canopies has a fairly wide range of advantages:

  • high strength and reliability;
  • ability to withstand heavy loads;
  • high protection from wind, temperature changes and precipitation;
  • long service life, which is ensured by a special polymer coating;
  • complete purity and environmental friendliness of the material;
  • practical and quick installation;
  • acceptable cost.

There are several individual species structures made of corrugated sheets. Before you begin construction, you need to decide what type of canopy you will install, because each of them has its own characteristics. The most common types of canopies made from this material include:

In addition, canopies made of corrugated sheets can also be divided into attached and independent, removable and non-removable, depending on the features and location of the building.

Construction of attached sheds to the house according to drawings and photos

Depending on the type, the technology for constructing a canopy from corrugated sheets has its own characteristics. The most common type of construction is an attached shed made of corrugated sheets. This type of canopy can be used to create cozy corner for relaxing near the house like a porch or for protecting a car.

Corrugated roof for recreation area

In general, the technology for installing an attached lean-to canopy is almost the same as for a separate one, however, during construction it is important to pay special attention to fastening to the wall. Fastenings can be made in various ways. You can often find options when fastening to the wall is done with emphasis not on racks, but on individual fastening elements that are mounted on the wall.

In addition, when installing a canopy made of attached type corrugated sheets, it is necessary to pay special attention to the work on connecting its covering to the wall. A gap can often form at the attachment point, due to which precipitation can penetrate into the structure. This defect can be easily avoided by installing special tin connections near the wall. Such elements are installed at one end into a sawn groove above the corrugated sheet covering.

Regardless of the type of canopy and its location, before installation begins it is necessary to develop a detailed design according to which the work will be carried out. The design specifies the parameters and design features, possible precipitation loads.

Canopy project

The construction of an attached shed to a house consists of the following stages:

  • choosing a suitable location;
  • preparation of the area;
  • creation of a design/drawing design;
  • creating a foundation;
  • frame installation;
  • installation of wall mounts;
  • roof roof structure.

In addition, before work, it is necessary to carefully inspect the house and the selected wall for attaching the canopy, inspect the structure of the house, and determine the condition of the foundation and walls of the building.

It will be much more convenient and simpler, especially for novice builders, to create detail drawing, which will display all the details and elements of the canopy separately.

Canopy drawing

Construction process attached canopy made of corrugated sheets has no significant differences from other types of canopies; the only feature that needs to be paid attention to is the fastening of the structure to the wall of the building.

Project of a canopy attached to a house

To build an attached lean-to shed you will need tools such as:

  • roulette;
  • welding machine;
  • shovel;
  • tamping material;
  • Bulgarian;
  • metal screws;
  • plumb line and others.

To attach an attached canopy, as a rule, a beam measuring 70 by 90 mm is used. The beam will serve as a fastening for the sheathing and rafters. To fasten the crossbar, a special metal corner with support pillars. The beams between the front supports will be attached using the same principle.

IN in this case best choice There will be metal corners for fastening, because ordinary self-tapping screws will not be able to provide high strength and reliability of the structure. If you have any difficulties during fastening, you can view step by step photos which will help you understand the technology of attaching a canopy to a wall.

How to make canopies from corrugated sheets with your own hands using video

Garden and other sheds made of corrugated sheets various types It is quite possible to install it yourself. As a rule, corrugated sheeting is considered sufficient lightweight material, so there shouldn’t be any difficulties when working with it. To erect a canopy for a house using corrugated board as the main material will not require a lot of effort, time and financial costs.

Once you have decided on the type of canopy you want and have developed a design, you can begin preparing the area and laying the foundation for the structure. You can use videos that explain in detail step by step process laying the foundation and installing a canopy made of the specified material.

To build a conventional shed made of corrugated sheets, you will need the following materials:

First you need to dig holes to install the frame at a distance of 1 m from each other. Installed in the pits metal racks structure frame. If the canopy will have an angle of inclination, the rear posts should be shorter than the front ones. Next, you need to lay out the floor under the canopy to strengthen the fastenings of the pillars. For this purpose, you can lay it out with tiles. However, the most economical option will be the use of concrete or cement mortar for styling.

Tile laying scheme

When the floor is poured with concrete, it must be given time to dry. Typically, this process takes 1-2 weeks. The next step is the manufacture of the sheathing, which is created by welding metal pipes.

Manufacturing of sheathing

The pipes are screwed to the joists using self-tapping screws. Sheets of corrugated sheets can be laid on the finished sheathing, which are overlapped and secured using rubber screws. In this way, damage to the sheets during installation can be avoided.

Installation of corrugated sheeting

Currently, sheets of polycarbonate or metal profiles are becoming increasingly popular. It is simply impossible to determine which of them is better, because each of them has a large number of advantages and is great for erecting a canopy. The main advantages of such products include lightness, long service life, increased strength, a wide selection of shades, thanks to which you can choose an option that fits perfectly into your home. specific design territories.

Kinds

According to its design, the building has various methods of execution. It all depends on the purpose of the canopy, the material and the personal preferences of the owner. Today you can build an extension different ways taking into account the selected material. Metal or wood can be used to construct supports. The roof frame is made in the same way. But you can see how metal siding looks like wood

The versatility of corrugated sheeting lies in the fact that there is no need to adjust the ceiling to the fastenings. (It is also worth paying attention to how it is carried out). This is due to the fact that the edges of the sheet are concentrated very close and this is quite enough to fix the iron sheet. The cladding around the perimeter can also be different. The attached structure is open, trimmed with boards with windows, and presented in the form of a terrace.

But you can see what kind of canopies and awnings over the entrance there are

In the video there is a canopy made of corrugated sheets adjacent to the house:

Canopies made of polycarbonate can have different design. The most common ones include:

  • arched;
  • single-pitched;
  • gable.

The difference between them lies in the complexity of installation and the amount of material used.

But what types of polycarbonate carports there are, and how they can be made, this will help you understand

Arch

This polycarbonate canopy option has a rather attractive appearance. To attach it to the house, you must have significant construction experience, because this design differs in its complexity.

Arch canopy made of corrugated sheets adjacent to the house

They arise for the reason that the roof straps to which the corrugated sheeting is to be fixed must be presented in a curved shape. And to obtain such a bend, special equipment is used.

Single-pitch canopy

This type of corrugated sheet extension does not require special experience or application. special equipment. But at the same time it will be necessary increased attention when choosing correct angle roof slope.

Single-pitch canopy

Gable canopy

This design is a full-fledged roof. To obtain such a canopy, one corrugated sheet will not be enough. Gable roof can be used when spacious space is required summer cuisine open type. There is also another roofing option - multi-slope. This type of construction is the most difficult to implement. Only professional builders can make it.

Gable canopy

If we talk about the dimensions of the canopy, then their choice should take into account the load and purpose of the structure. The canopy adjacent to the house should not be large, otherwise the wall will not be able to withstand the load. If this canopy is over the porch, then it should not be very small. But the carport is calculated taking into account its size. But you can see what the texture of the wall looks like under the plaster:

If the car is small, then it can fit under a structure of at least 2.3 x 5.5 m. For an SUV or truck, you will have to find a load with dimensions of 3.5 x 6.6 m. It is also worth considering the height of the canopy. The optimal parameter is 2.3 m. But for a gazelle this will not be enough. As the height of the canopy increases, the likelihood of rain and snow getting under the extension increases.

The sheathing of a canopy made of corrugated sheets can be made of wood or metal. It all depends on the size, shape and location. A canopy that is adjacent to a house is often made using wooden beams.

How to do

A canopy made of corrugated sheets is a simple design, so no difficulties should arise in terms of installation. Here you just need to follow a certain sequence of actions:

  1. Installation of support pillars. First you need to dig holes for the posts. Their depth will be 50 cm. Afterwards, the columns are filled with concrete. When implementing this item of the plan, it is necessary to take into account some points. The installation process of the posts must be carried out along a clear vertical line. The bond between metal and concrete is achieved through corners and reinforcement welded to the bottom of the supports.
  2. Manufacturing of roof sheathing. When the concrete begins to harden, all the posts around the perimeter should be connected with a profile pipe. Thus, it is possible to obtain a design that resembles a frame. It will become the basis for the roof. Concentrate it over the slope. Then melt water can flow freely from the roof. Now the resulting frame is strengthened using cross beams. To give the structure increased strength, the pillars should be additionally tied with another ring of rigidity. This will provide increased rigidity and strength. By following the link you can learn more about
  3. Installation of roof sheathing. To do this, it is necessary to sheathe the wooden block. It should be located across the beams. Fixation occurs using self-tapping screws. Screw the corrugated sheets directly to the metal sheathing. But you can see how to make lathing for siding with insulation with your own hands
  4. Fastening corrugated sheets. The sheets are fixed to the frame using self-tapping screws. They must be equipped with rubber gaskets. They are installed in the lower part through the wave. You should also remember about the overlap, otherwise the roof will leak.
  5. Upon completion of the work, sheathe the canopy from corrugated sheets from the bottom. At the same time, mask all electrical wires. It is necessary to understand that sheds attached to a private house must be equipped with individual lighting. It is not only practical, but also convenient.

But this will help you understand what a carport made of wood might look like, and how you can install them yourself.

On the video how to make a canopy from corrugated sheets adjacent to the house:

A polycarbonate canopy is a practical structure, thanks to which it is possible to protect a certain part of the territory from snow, rain and other influences of bad weather. Under such a canopy they can store a car or equip a summer terrace. The installation process is distinguished by its simplicity. Absolutely anyone without the proper experience can make such a design. Despite this, the canopy has a rather attractive appearance. Thanks to the wide selection of shades, it is possible to create a canopy that perfectly complements overall design Houses.

Residents of the private sector sooner or later have the idea of making a canopy on their property. The building can serve as a place for gatherings, a place to store something or a personal car. Often the canopy is adjacent to the house - it’s safer and easier. The material usually used is corrugated sheeting, which is easy to install with my own hands. Expert advice, photos and videos from step-by-step recommendations will help you build a canopy on your local property with minimal labor costs.

IN Lately owners country houses People are increasingly turning to the use of corrugated sheets. This material has the following advantages over polycarbonate, tiles or glass:

  • hard and durable;
  • has stiffening ribs;
  • opaque;
  • easy;
  • protected from corrosion;
  • does not burn;
  • it's cheap.

By appearance a canopy made of corrugated sheets may be inferior to other structures. For example, it cannot be bent into a complex shape. But for minimal design solutions it is quite suitable. Sheets made from this material have many color and texture options.

Corrugated sheet different colors

Another disadvantage of corrugated sheeting as a material for a canopy is high level noise. Rain or wind will sound quite loud when it comes into contact with the roof of a building. The most popular among residents of country houses is a lean-to shed attached to the house. This option:

  • requires relatively few building materials;
  • easier to construct than a gable, etc.;
  • universal.

The installation of an extension canopy includes the following steps:

  1. Project development. Preparation of materials.
  2. Marking and construction of the foundation.
  3. Frame installation and painting.
  4. Roofing.

Preparatory work. How to make a project and select materials

Creating a project for a future structure begins with its location. If we are talking about a veranda or recreation area, it is reasonable to place the canopy in the courtyard, away from the roadway and entrance gate. To shelter the car, on the contrary, it is better to mount the canopy closer to the point of entry into the yard. The next step is a sketch. Sketch on paper the key functional elements and components of the building. After this, you can begin detailed calculations, which need to be displayed in the drawing.

Corrugated sheet canopy project

Consider these nuances:

  • level and characteristics of precipitation in your region in summer and winter: frequency of ice dams, heavy rains or heavy snowfalls;
  • average and maximum wind speeds in your region;
  • architectural features of the building to which the building will adjoin;
  • personal design solutions and wishes - color and other characteristics of metal sheets.

The main tool that comes in handy when self-installation canopy:

  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine;
  • metal screws with rubberized heads;
  • screwdriver;
  • shovel;
  • equipment for marking: tape measure, twine, building level, chalk.

How to build a foundation for a canopy

Based on the drawings, mark the base for construction. The material for the foundation is a metal profile. Pipes with parameters of 20x20 cm are often used. Wood and brick are also sometimes used for these purposes. However, this design is more expensive. In the case of wooden supports, their cross-section should be larger, since the material is less durable.

Canopy made of corrugated sheets

To secure the supports, dig holes of appropriate size. At the points where the supporting pillars of the canopy frame will be located, the depth of the holes should be 60 cm. There should be a minimum of two such pillars: at the two points furthest from the wall, at the corners of the structure. Although, of course, the structure will be stronger than the structure with intermediate supports.

The further process looks like this:

  • remove along the perimeter of the structure upper layer soil;
  • make wooden formwork;
  • If necessary, fill the site itself with screenings or crushed stone and concrete it;
  • install metal profile posts in the prepared pits in a strictly vertical position;
  • concrete them;
  • wait for the material to completely harden construction site(about 1-2 weeks) - the foundation is ready.

Attention! The concrete base should be located no higher than the winter freezing level of the soil. Otherwise, after the first thaw the frame may become deformed.

Installation of a frame for a house canopy

In addition to two or more supports concreted in the ground, the wall support will bear the weight of the structure. As a rule, this is a beam secured with anchors to load-bearing wall neighboring building. A lean-to canopy assumes that the height vertical pipes will be slightly lower than the wall beam. This is necessary so that the building has a slope.

The canopy frame also consists of:

  1. Mauerlat - a horizontal crossbar, which is located on the vertical supports of the structure, parallel to the wall beam.
  2. Rafters are transverse beams that are laid on one side on the wall support, on the other on the mauerlat.
  3. Lathings are thin slats that are located on top of the rafters parallel to the mauerlat and wall beams. Sheets of corrugated sheets will be attached to them in the future. Therefore, it is advisable to weld the slats so that the cells correspond to the width of the sheet.

Advice. The sheathing is made on the ground, and then raised and secured at height. For corner strips it is usually used metal pipe 40x60 mm, for intermediate ones - 30x50 mm. Before lifting to a height, paint the mesh to prevent corrosion.

Correct laying of corrugated sheets and completion of work

The roof of the canopy must be securely fastened so as not to deform and fly away during the elements. This is the main reminder for the master who will install it. The technique of fastening the sheets itself is not complicated:

Follow all installation rules to make reliable canopy from corrugated sheets
  • place them overlapping on the sheathing - this will protect against moisture seepage;
  • fix with self-tapping screws at the rate of 4-8 pcs. per 1 sq. m of corrugated board;
  • treat the canopy with fire-fighting and antiseptic agents.

Advice. Work with the roof carefully. Do not use screws or other tools to damage the protective layer of corrugated sheeting, which provides the material with durability.

You can install roof drainage. Typically, this need arises if the lower edge of the canopy is located above something that is not desirable to water. Suitable for tapping plastic pipe. After this the canopy is completed. You can decorate it and use it for its intended purpose.

Small area, covered with material on top, are sheds attached to the house. Photos of similar structures can be seen in this review. In this case, the supports of the structure are brought to the required height. Attaching to the main structure involves attaching one side of the structure to the wall of the house.

The hanging structure allows you to create a magnificent relaxation area on fresh air

Sheds attached to the house can be made with your own hands. The photo shows the main stages of installation. The frame of the structure is often made of profiled pipe or timber. This structure is adjacent to the wall and takes on the load from the snow accumulated on the roof.

The roof is usually covered with corrugated sheets, slate or galvanized material. The metal for the frame structure has ductility and strength. It is suitable for different styles registration Such structures can be erected with your own hands.

The wood frame system combines well with other materials. Wood suits most architectural designs. Before use, this material should be treated with protective agents. Polycarbonate canopies attached to the house are becoming increasingly popular, photos of which can be viewed on the Internet.

Polycarbonate is easy to assemble and comes in a variety of colors

Polycarbonate enjoys the following advantages:

  • plastic is characterized by durability. Mechanical impact is not scary for him;
  • light weight of the material;
  • polycarbonate transmits light well;
  • flexibility of the canvas.
Helpful information! By purchasing a design kit for self-assembly, it is necessary to check the integrity and strength of all connections.

Options for canopies attached to a house made of corrugated sheets: photos and design features

An awning made of corrugated sheets can be made in various configurations. Single-pitch, gable and arched structures are created from corrugated sheets. In addition, a structure made from this material has the following features:

  • ease of manufacture;
  • saving money;
  • long service life.
Important! A canopy made of corrugated sheets is mounted only with galvanized self-tapping screws that have a rubber seal.

Creating a Project

When choosing a design project, it is worth deciding on the following parameters:

  • dimensions and purpose of the structure;
  • plot size;
  • snow and wind loads;
  • snow depth and expected annual precipitation;
  • structural features of the main structure.

Before installation work The drawing must be completed. Based on the size of the building, it is determined required amount material.

Helpful information! When creating a carport, it is worth considering the passage of a loaded vehicle.

Preparatory work

Before planned sheds attached to the house are created, photos of which can be viewed on the website, it is necessary to preparatory work. For this purpose, a suitable area is marked out, and trees are uprooted from it. The clean area is leveled. At the same time, sand and gravel are added.

Recesses are drilled under the canopy supports. And at this stage it is worth considering laying the cable under the lighting sources. A certain step for placing supports is selected. It depends on the weight of the roof and frame part.

Racks are lowered into the prepared holes and poured concrete mixture. The pillars are set according to level.

Important information! If they are located close groundwater, then the ends of the pillars need to be additionally waterproofed. Metal supports are pre-treated with a primer.

How to make a polycarbonate canopy attached to a house: photos and installation steps

12-15 days after the concrete has completely hardened, you can begin assembling the structure. Brackets are mounted on the wall, and then a transverse beam is mounted on top.

Creating a sheathing

Performed top harness. The end parts of the racks are connected using a transverse beam and to each other. In this case, parallel laid profiles are used. Metal frame system welded together, and the wooden one is tightened with steel corners.

Welding areas are cleaned, primed and painted. The rafters are mounted with transverse parts in increments of 600 mm. The structure is attached to the supporting beam using steel angles. The sheathing is laid across the rafters and mounted with self-tapping screws.

Roof installation

Sheets roofing material cut to size. Then they are attached to the sheathing. Holes for self-tapping screws are first made in the polycarbonate.

To facilitate water drainage, the cells should be directed downwards. When working with plastic, do not forget to leave gaps between. The dimensions of the holes should be made with a margin of 2-3 mm. There are some features of installing roofs made of other materials.

Wood beams can be used as beams. Over time, cracks may appear in the material, which will reduce the rigidity of the structure. After installing the beams, transverse boards are installed, and then the metal tiles are fastened. Installation of this material produced with bottom sheets. It is worth considering that there must be overlap top sheets to the lower ones.

Greetings, my readers. In this article I decided to consider the topic of single-pitched sheds made of corrugated sheets. This material has excellent characteristics, the main ones of which are strength, lightness, frost resistance, durability - its service life is 50 years. That is why we choose it as a canopy covering.

A canopy is a structure on supports, made in the form of a roof. According to their purpose, canopies protect the space underneath from precipitation and scorching rays of the sun.

Often there is a need to build a carport over the porch in a private house or country house. It is performed over counters on the street, barbecues, over recreation areas in the country, over ramps, ramps installed in stores for unloading goods from cars and in other cases.

The main elements of a lean-to canopy are the posts, the longitudinal and transverse purlins that are installed on them, and the covering, in our case made of corrugated sheeting.

Single-pitch canopies made of corrugated sheets are:

  • Separately standing.
  • Attached to the building.

It all depends on its purpose. These are easily and quickly installed structures. But everything is in order. Let's first look at free-standing lean-to sheds.

Technology for installing a canopy made of corrugated sheets

Ideally, there should be a design for a canopy, since the design company will perform calculations taking into account all loads. This will determine the dimensions of the foundation in plan, its design, materials used and other points.

Let's take as an example a free-standing lean-to carport for your car. We determine the geometric dimensions for it - height = 2.2m - 2.4m; length = 6 meters, width = 3 meters;

The metal elements of the canopy can be connected by welding or bolted connections.

  • First of all, the surface is leveled and future foundations for the canopy supports are marked.
  • The foundation for each support is usually columnar. The technology of its construction, the depth of its installation, the sequence of work is similar to that described in the article - the foundation for fence posts - I don’t want to repeat myself. Dimensions in plan are taken as 500x500mm.
  • As supporting structures - racks, you can choose: metal profile pipe with a cross section of 60x60 - 100x100mm regular pipe with outer diameter 76, 89 or 108 mm
  • This can be a rolled profile (channel, angle). The diameter or cross-section of the supports depends in direct proportion to the area of your corrugated sheet canopy.
  • If desired, the racks are installed from wooden structures, for example, from planed timber, if you decide to make the canopy elements from wood (except for the covering).
  • In our example, we use supports made of pipes with a diameter of 76 - 89 mm. The distance between them is taken to be 1.5 - 2 meters in the longitudinal direction and 3 meters in the transverse direction (the width of the canopy).
  • If the distance between the supports is more than 3 meters, then light single-pitch trusses made of metal profiles can be used instead of purlins.

lean-to truss canopy

Racks can be installed in the following ways:

— We install the support and fill it with concrete.

— Welding to metal plate installed in the foundation. This is done in the following way: when concreting the foundation, a plate with anchor outlets is installed in the concrete. The outlets enter the concrete body, and the plate, like an embedded part, is located on the surface of the foundation.

— For a bolted connection, the plate is installed in the same way as in the previous case, but with anchor bolts.

  • In our example, we set the support strictly vertically in level and fill it with concrete grades 150 - 200. The slope of the canopy covering is created by installing the posts different heights on the sides of the canopy (for example, 2.4 meters on one and 2 meters on the other).
  • Along the racks we lay purlins from channel No. 12 in the transverse direction, that is, perpendicular to the long side of the canopy. We fasten the purlins to the posts by welding or bolts.
  • The next step is laying purlins (sheathing) in the longitudinal direction from profile pipe 40x40mm with increments of 500 - 600 mm. Fastening is done by welding or metal screws. The result was a beam cage - a rigid and reliable frame.
  • All metal carcass it is necessary to paint - thereby protecting the metal from corrosion. If this wooden structures, then they should be treated with wood preservatives , and then paint, and that part support posts, which will be in the foundation, cover with bitumen.
  • We complete the assembly of the lean-to canopy by covering it with sheets of corrugated sheets. Sheets of corrugated sheets are attached to the metal sheathing using galvanized self-tapping screws. Their number is calculated at the rate of 6-8 units per meter square area designs. They are equipped with rubber sealing washers to prevent moisture from penetrating through the holes in the corrugated sheet.

We looked at how free-standing single-pitch sheds are made from corrugated sheets.

Attached lean-to shed

  • I would like to say a few words about the lean-to shed attached to the building. The construction technology is the same, but special attention should be paid to its connection to the wall.
  • Sometimes that part of the canopy that is adjacent to the building may rest not on racks, but on fastening elements installed on the wall - supporting shelves, tables, embedded parts.
  • An important point of an attached canopy made of corrugated sheets is correct execution junctions of its covering to the wall of the building. A gap always forms in this place - precipitation can flow through it - water from rain or melting snow, ice.
  • This can be avoided when tin connections are installed above the canopy near the wall, with one end leading into a pre-cut groove in the wall just above the corrugated sheet covering.
  • The connection with the bend goes vertically down, close to the wall. The second bend is laid directly on the corrugated sheet covering, thereby closing the gap between the corrugated board and the wall. The connection point is consistent with the connection of the canopy above the entrance to the wall.

For any type of canopy, it is advisable to have a design that calculates possible snow loads for your area. The profile section depends on this load-bearing frame, pitch of purlins and choice of grade of corrugated sheeting.

I made just such an attached lean-to canopy at my dacha above the porch, since in the afternoon the sun turns there. The porch spanned the entire width of the building and a low fence, also made of corrugated sheets, was mounted along the contour - it turned out to be a terrace. Here we have lunch, just relax, and the canopy protects us from the sun.
