How to catch a mouse in an apartment without a mousetrap. How to catch a mouse in a house without a mousetrap, the best way with a bottle. A simple way to catch a mouse.

Mice appear in human homes and gardens according to various reasons. Some rodents come in search of warm shelter, and some begin to live in the walls of houses and apartments because of food, the remains of which are in places accessible to them. In any case, sometimes you need to answer the question of how to catch mice without using barbaric methods. Let's look at the most common options.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment

Many owners of residential premises strive to save the animal’s life when caught and simply redirect it to another habitat, thereby protecting their home from uninvited guests. Cats, of course, catch mice, but this method is unacceptable for many. There are many methods for solving these problems; within the framework of this material, the main ones will be considered. These are traditional traps that will help catch an animal in a container without the possibility of leaving it. After this, all that remains is to move the rodent to another place.

Application of plastic bottle

Containers from Coca-Cola or any soda or water will do. It is necessary to lubricate the inner walls with vegetable oil, and put bait inside - a piece of food - cheese, lard, bread, apple. The bottle is positioned at an angle of 45 degrees relative to the floor surface. So that the animal can easily fall into the trap, it is worth laying a special bridge in the form of a board or ruler. If it gets inside, the animal will have no chance of getting back out due to the slippery walls of the bottle. This is the most common way to catch a mouse in the house without a mousetrap, and it works flawlessly.

Trap from a plastic bottle on a suspension

Need to take plastic bottle, cut off its neck so that the mouse can freely enter it, bait is fixed at the bottom, and the bottle is placed on the edge of the table so that the bottom with the bait is covered. The edge of the bottle, where the neck is cut off, must be tied with a rope to some kind of support. It is important that the rope is not too long (that is, when a bottle with a mouse falls, it should not come into contact with the floor). So, the mouse enters the bottle and moves towards the bottom with the bait, the bottom overhangs and the bottle falls. The mouse finds itself in a suspended bottle and cannot get out of it.

Another interesting option

You need to take the bottle and pierce it through the lid and bottom with a knitting needle. It is necessary that the container can easily ensure rotation around its own axis. It is necessary to secure the spokes on the bucket in such a way that the bottle rotates freely directly above it. The edges of the container must be lubricated with products that have an attractive aroma for mice. When the rodent wants to eat the bait, it will begin to climb onto the bottle, but will not be able to do this and will end up in the bucket. Of course, the cat eats the mouse, but compared to this inhumane method, the option under consideration is considered more harmless.

Glass jar method

Catching a mouse will be successful if you use this method. To implement it, you will need a large glass or a glass jar in a 500 ml container. You also need to get a coin. You need to place the glass so that the edge of the coin touches the edges of the container and rests against them. It is necessary to ensure that the bait is glued to the area of the inner edge of the glass container in advance. This could be a piece of cheese, lard or other product that is attractive to mice.

When a rodent gets inside, it will immediately want to unhook the food from the wall and eat it, but if a coin slips off the edge, the glass will be covered by the careless animal. To make this scam easier, it is recommended to mount the structure on high-density cardboard. After this, you can give the mouse to the cat so that the cat eats it, but since we're talking about About humane methods, it is necessary that the captured rodent be moved to another habitat.

The easiest way to catch a mouse

This is the easiest and effective way how to catch a boring mouse. You need to get a simple bucket, into which a perch (similar to a springboard) is installed on an axis from any tube or knitting needle, and any treats for the rodent are placed on its end. The trap can be considered ready. After this, you need to mount a stack of books right next to the container so that the animal can easily get inside. When the mouse gets close to the treat, under the weight own body the perch will lower and the animal will fall into the bucket. Mice can be caught using this method because it is humane and easy to use.

How to catch a mouse using a bucket of water

This method will also help you catch a mouse without a mousetrap. It is necessary to prepare an arsenal of available tools for the “hunt”. This is a bucket filled with water in an amount of slightly less than ½ part, a piece of paper, bait and tape. The size of the paper should be slightly larger than the diameter of the bucket. Fastening is carried out using adhesive tape, the edges are folded from the top. In the middle paper material a cut is made in the form of a cross measuring 5*5 cm. A cracker is placed on it. Make sure that this bait does not end up in the bucket. It is necessary to build a small aid through which the rodent can get to the treasured bait. Unfortunately, it won't go back because it will end up in the bucket.

Where to place the trap

What products to use for bait

Mice are omnivores, so they can get caught on any food. Just as cats sometimes catch mice, rodents themselves love to “catch” their “prey” and feast on it to their heart’s content. There is a popular belief that mice love cheese and only eat it, but this is a myth. In fact, they do not follow a vegetarian diet, so meat can easily be used. It is necessary to choose products that exude aroma, since the mouse's sense of smell does not deceive. Seeds and cereals have a good effect on the sense of smell of rodents. And before you start taking action, look at which cereals have suffered the most - use them.

Content

A harmless and fragile rodent brings a lot of trouble. House mice and rats feed on food supplies, spoil them, gnaw wallpaper, furniture, books and carry a variety of diseases. Due to their size, they can fit through a gap that does not exceed seven millimeters. Catching mice at home requires the use of mousetraps.

What types of mouse traps are there?

Conventionally, all devices are divided into several categories of mousetraps:

  • traditional - standard traps with a spring mechanism;
  • cages - also called live traps - differ in the method of catching, in which the animal is not killed;
  • electric – fully automated modern mechanisms, powered by mains or battery;
  • adhesive - the pest sticks to the trap and cannot escape;
  • homemade - devices for catching mice, made from improvised materials.

Mousetrap clothespin

The operating principle is simple. The bait is placed in the center of the device, the device is “primed” and placed next to the mink. This class includes modifications of standard mousetraps with spring systems. Their advantages:

  • Plastic products do not rot or rust, which increases their service life;
  • due to their shape, the traps are safe for children and pets;
  • the plate on top of the body hides the caught animal;
  • ease of operation - installation occurs in a matter of seconds in any required location.

Flaws:

  1. Difficulty in cleaning.
  2. It is necessary to “start” the structure after catching one pest.
  3. For catching large quantity animals need several traps or one capable of catching several individuals.

Mouse trap

This is the name of an ordinary mousetrap with a spring lever. The operating principle is the same as that of a clothespin. A treat is placed in the center on a special stand and the mechanism is wound up. The trap must be placed near the wall so that the mouse does not pick up the bait from the other side. If there are small children or pets in the house, the trap should be placed in a place inaccessible to them.

Advantages:

  • low price - does not exceed 300 rubles;
  • simple and clear principle work;
  • Suitable for installation in a garage or attic.

Flaws:

  • in damp room the wooden base rots, and the metal one rusts, because of this the service life of the trap is reduced, the installation lasts from two to five years;
  • Children and pets may get hurt while exploring the mechanism;
  • a very smart rat can get the bait from the other side;
  • filling the structure is not easy - you need to apply force.

Noose

The mechanical device has the shape of a bar with tunnels, it contains a metal ring (loop) and a thread. A piece of food is placed at the bottom of the tunnel. In the center there is a thread that drives the loop. The mouse, making its way to the food, gnaws the thread securing the noose and dies from suffocation in the noose. A block can have one or several tunnels.

To install the circuit, thread the thread through the hole. To simplify the work, use a long needle. The noose wire is bent and secured with a knot. The system is suitable for catching several individuals at the same time. There is no need to constantly inspect the device. 1-2 checks a day are enough to avoid leaving the corpses of pests, which decompose over time and smell unpleasant.

Advantages:

  1. Suitable for installation anywhere (garage, office, apartment, a private house, basement).
  2. Within a few days, it significantly reduces the rodent population.
  3. Safe for children and pets.
  4. Affordable price– 200–250 rubles.

Automatic

Electric mousetraps look like a rectangular container. It has several small stairs to get into the trap. The electrical device is suitable for mass trapping and is installed in places where rodents are more often seen. To attract the attention of pests, a treat is placed in the middle.

The system works automatically - as soon as the “stranger” touches the bottom of the container, an electric discharge will destroy it.

Advantages:

  1. The device is safe for children and animals. If children or pets notice the device, they will definitely not touch the mechanism with their hand, paw or nose - the hole is small. When the cover is open, the circuit is de-energized.
  2. The device is designed to catch several individuals at the same time.

Flaws:

  1. High price. The minimum cost is 3 thousand rubles.
  2. Before installation, the auto trap must be assembled and configured - this can take up to an hour.
  3. Battery-powered devices must be charged before use.
  4. Mains-powered products do not need to be charged, but they are only installed near an outlet.

Adhesive devices

Eat finished goods, which after purchase can simply be unpacked and placed, placing the goodies on the backing. The sticky base firmly holds the living mouse in place. Glue for catching mice can be purchased in tubes separately from the installation - price consumables a little lower.

Cardboard, plastic or plywood are used as a platform. The size of the substrate is at least 8x8 centimeters. The layout is ideal for placement in a garage.

Instructions:

  1. When placing Velcro and renewing the adhesive layer, be careful not to stain yourself or the floor. The product is difficult to wash - you need gloves and clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  2. Apply glue to the base in thin strips, leaving a distance of 1 centimeter.

Advantages:

  1. Easy to use.
  2. Cost – from 200 to 600 rubles.
  3. Reusable use by purchasing tubes.

Flaws:

  1. Ready adhesive base intended for one-time use.
  2. Velcro is not suitable for placement in areas where there are children.
  3. For installation you will need special clothing and gloves.

Trap house

To catch the pest, they use a house trap - in the form of a bent pipe with doors. The design includes a mechanism for raising and lowering the doors. The bait is placed on the side of the rear door, and the front door is secured with a mechanism in the raised state.

As soon as the animal gets into the middle, the system is triggered and the animal cannot get out.

Advantages:

  1. Simple and effective method for catching.
  2. Safe for household members.
  3. Doesn't kill the animal.
  4. Easy installation.
  5. Reusable.

Flaws:

  1. Requires regular inspection for the presence of rodents (4-5 times a day).
  2. Capturing only one individual.

live traps

Design mechanical apparatus simple: trigger, cover and box. There are models on the market that differ in appearance, but the operating principle is the same. There is a hook inside the container. A “fuse” bait is attached to it. The animal, grabbing the goodies, starts the mechanism, the lid closes, preventing it from leaving the box.

Advantages:

  1. A humane way to get rid of rodents.
  2. Safety for children and pets.
  3. Simple design.
  4. Cost - from 100 to 1000 rubles, depending on the appearance.

Flaws:

  1. Direct contact with the rodent.
  2. We need to decide where to put the caught animal.

How to make a mousetrap at home

If mice appear in the house, instead of a rat trap, homemade structures are suitable for catching. Methods will not require special costs, safe for household members, effective in work. It's easy to catch a mouse in an apartment without a mousetrap. You will need:

  • buckets;
  • boxes;
  • bottles;
  • banks.

Plastic bottle for catch

You don't need any special knowledge or tools to catch a mouse in a bottle. The bottle device eliminates contact with the caught animal. The simplest option is a gravity mousetrap made from a plastic bottle. All you need is a bottle and strong thread.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Cut off the neck.
  2. Make a hole for the rope, thread it through and secure the other end to any weighty object.
  3. Place the product inside and place the bottle on the table so that the food part hangs over the table.
  4. If a mouse appears inside, the weight of the bottle overturns and hangs on the rope.

From a glass jar

An ordinary glass jar is placed on the edge of the coin, creating a gap. A piece of bread or other product is placed inside. As soon as the mouse gets inside, the coin falls, closing the exit. To avoid direct contact with the rodent, it is better to place the system on cardboard or plywood.

From a bucket and a ruler

The trap is simple. Place a bucket of water. Using double-sided tape or another method, secure the ruler. A slice of bread or lard is placed at the free end. Having reached the food, the rodent will collapse under its own weight and drown in the water.

If you don’t want to kill the animal, you don’t have to fill it with water - use an empty, tall bucket with a capacity of 5–10 liters.

From a flower pot

If there is an old one flower pot, use it as a rat trap. The scheme is primitive, but effective. They install pots according to the same principle as jars, but a coin will not work - it is better to take a small sliver. The optimal gap between the floor and the flowerpot to catch a mouse is up to 8 mm. For convenience, it is better to place the trap on a piece of plywood or cardboard. This way you can quickly get rid of the animal.

Best mouse bait

When wondering how to catch a mouse, you need to decide on bait. To attract the attention of the rodent, a treat is selected. This is not cheese, as is commonly believed. Although it emits a strong odor, rodents only eat it when they are very hungry. If this happens, the mouse will not go into the cage for cheese, but will cost available options- paper, soap, wooden thresholds.

In nature, mice eat plant foods, and cereals are considered especially tasty. Rats eat eggs and meat.

If you want to lure a rat, use a small piece of meat or egg; for mice, add grain.

If you don’t know exactly who is in your house, it’s better to put a slice of bread, nuts, and dried apples.

A universal means of catching lard is lard, but not every product will do. It is important to place fresh and soft bait. To ensure that the lard has a pronounced aroma, heat it over an open fire. If this is not the case, take a slice of bread soaked in oil (sesame is good, but sunflower is also suitable).

Liver products used as bait:

  • apple;
  • pear;
  • plum;
  • peach;
  • nuts;
  • corn;
  • buckwheat or rice groats;
  • sunflower seeds.

Important! When using a glue mouse trap at home, no additional luring products are needed. The product is already impregnated with fragrances that attract pests. For another type - a trap - seeds, flour or wheat grains are suitable.

How to catch a mouse without a mousetrap in a house or apartment

Gray rodents occupying the house - the source of a number of problems. Any food stored indoors can become food for mice and rats.

The nimble animals easily penetrate hard-to-reach places and tiny holes, gnaw furniture and things, and are carriers of the heaviest infectious diseases. To catch a mouse, they use various traps and baits, both homemade and purchased.

Traditionally, there are several ways to catch rodents - using:

  • mousetraps with a spring mechanism, in which case the mouse dies;
  • humane traps in which the animal remains alive;
  • ultrasonic repellers;
  • baits using special glue;
  • various homemade designs for catching pests.

But using poison to catch rodents at home is irrational. A mouse that dies from poison in a hard-to-reach place becomes a source of unpleasant odor.

The classic method of catching mice is the use of mousetraps. A huge selection of devices is available in any hardware store.

The principle of using the device is simple:

  • a piece of food with an attractive smell is placed inside;
  • the spring is tensioned;
  • The mousetrap is placed in a place where traces of animal activity (droppings, spoiled food) are found.

The mouse comes to the smell of food, the spring is triggered, the device slams shut, and the rodent dies.

Mousetraps, in which the animal remains alive, are considered a humane option for catching animals. Various designs in the form of “houses”, “cages”, bent tubes can be found on sale. But in this case, the catcher faces a new problem - where to put the caught mouse.

Fishing methods without a mousetrap

You can easily catch a mouse using available tools. Anything will do for a trap: a plastic bottle, glass jar, bucket or basin.

Protozoa homemade traps are presented below.

You will need a liter glass jar, a coin, and bait.

How to make:

  1. Place a piece of lard or bread soaked in vegetable oil on the floor and cover with a glass container.
  2. Place a coin under the edge, resting the jar against the wall.
  3. The animal will smell the aroma of food, climb into the structure, and the coin will fall and block the exit.

The most simple design is made like this:

  1. Cut off the neck of the bottle, cut the edges with sharp teeth, bend the points inward, place seeds, nuts, and cereals in the bottle.
  2. Place in areas where animals appear.
  3. The mouse will penetrate the device to eat the bait, but the sharp teeth will prevent it from getting back out.

The bottle can be used in a slightly different way:

  1. Cut into 2 parts, the part with the neck should be slightly smaller than the bottom part, insert top part neck inside.
  2. Secure the edges with tape and pour inside vegetable oil, shake.
  3. Treat the neck with oil. The aroma of the oil is extremely attractive to rodents. Once in the neck, the mouse will not be able to get out; the rodent will begin to slide along the oily walls.

Manufacturing:

  1. Pour roasted seeds into a bucket.
  2. Place a sheet of paper on a basin or bucket, glue the edges of the sheet to the rim of the container with tape, and make a cross-shaped cut in the middle of the sheet with a sharp knife.
  3. Build a “bridge” from a thick branch, a stick, or a school ruler. The mouse will smell the scent of the bait, make its way across the bridge onto the paper, under the weight of the rodent the paper will bend and the mouse will fall into the container.

Another way is even more effective:

  1. Pour water into the container (a little more than half), place a plastic bowl with a piece of smoked sausage or lard on the water.
  2. Place the device under a table or stool.
  3. Place a school ruler and a strip of cardboard on the edge of the horizontal surface so that part of the “bridge” hangs over the water.
  4. Place bait. The animal will walk along the ruler, smelling the smell, the center of gravity of the “bridge” will shift, and the mouse will fall into the water.

: sticky traps

Glue trap - another option for catching pests, they are easy to use; anyone can handle installing a trap.

In places where traces of rodent activity are observed, sheets of thick cardboard are laid out. The cardboard is coated with a special glue that has an odor that is attractive to tailed invaders. The animals come to the incomparable aroma and stick to the surface of the cardboard.

A huge disadvantage of the catching device is that the rodent remains alive for a long time, squeaks loudly in pain, and writhes in agony. You can only catch one specimen in a glue trap; a loud squeak will warn other animals of the danger.

How to catch a mouse in an apartment: electronic traps

Usage modern technology When catching rodents, it allows you to quickly achieve results. The devices are not only convenient, but also humane.

Animals caught in a trap do not die immediately; they often squeak heartbreakingly, experiencing unbearable pain, and the owner of the apartment has to finish off the unfortunate rodent.

IN electronic trap the animal dies instantly, the action of the device is as follows: the mouse climbs into the trap, touches the plate under the influence electric current, great stress quickly deprives the animal of life.

Conclusion

Removing rodents is a difficult task , it is much easier to prevent their appearance in the house using electronic repellers.

But if mice have occupied the territory, simple and effective traps, purchased in a store or made from improvised materials.

If at night you hear strange scratching sounds behind the wall, and in the morning you find crumbs and husks on the kitchen floor, you can be sure that you have a mouse. An annoying discovery, especially if you found it not at the dacha, but in an apartment on a high floor.

The news will be completely unpleasant for you that these nimble animals breed very actively, easily adapt to any conditions, many of them are not susceptible to poison. In addition, they love to rummage in the dirtiest places and are carriers of infection and dangerous diseases. Therefore, it would be better for you to quickly catch the mouse before the problems increase significantly.

How to understand that there is a mouse living in the house

You will hear it, see it and even feel it. They leave evidence:

  • check in kitchen cabinet stocks of flour, cereals and dried fruits. If you store them not in jars, but in bags, the provisions could be damaged by the teeth of a rodent and scatter on the shelf;
  • where the mouse ate, it left its excrement to you in gratitude for dinner - small black dry pellets, similar to grains;
  • there are more cracks and holes in the house - behind the baseboards, in the walls, in various secluded places;
  • an unpleasant mouse smell appears in the cabinet, under the sink and bathtub, if you already have for a long time there lives a large mouse family;
  • you don't sleep well at night, you hear rustling, squeaking and scratching.

Where did she come from?

The mouse is simply looking for shelter and food; in the city it is easiest for it to get this next to a person. Rodents get into the smallest, inconspicuous holes, climb walls, get inside them, climb into garbage chutes, get out of cracks near water pipes and sewer pipes, live and thrive in ventilation ducts.

It's possible that favorable conditions for it you create yourself. What can attract a mouse:

  • crumbs and leftover food;
  • cereals in paper and plastic bags;
  • trash can without lid;
  • no ventilation grilles;
  • the cracks near the water supply pipes are not sealed;
  • there is access to water;
  • a lot of junk that hasn't been sorted out for years.

Basic methods of catching mice

Poison is not the best best method. Because not all of them are deadly. Some are ineffective; mice will eat them with pleasure and without harm to health. If the poison is strong, the animal will die within a couple of hours after trying the treat. When a mouse is poisoned and dies, a disgusting smell will haunt you. Because she will die in the ventilation or in the wall, from where it will be impossible to get her out. The poison is harmful not only to mice, but also to people and pets. Especially if there are small children in the house, categorically avoid this method.

Mousetraps are most often used in everyday life when you need to catch a mouse. They are sold at any hardware store. Small, about the size of a palm, they consist of a wooden base and a steel trap. The operating principle is based on luring the rodent with food. As soon as he touches the bait, a deadly mechanism is triggered, slamming the unlucky animal. The animal dies, but sometimes it is only injured, and not everyone wants to watch the suffering of a mouse with a broken spine. Throw away the dead rodent and charge the mousetrap again. Take care of your fingers, they can get pinched.

Glue is also not a very pleasant method. Glue is applied to a piece of cardboard and an attractive-smelling bait is placed in the center. You can use smoked sausage or sunflower seeds soaked in unrefined sunflower oil; mice love this smell. The mouse will go for food and stick. But he can get out and run away, leaving behind traces of glue. If you catch a mouse, throw it away along with the cardboard.

The cat is considered a recognized domestic mouse catcher, but city cats do not know how and do not want to catch rodents. Your pet is most likely too full and lazy for such a troublesome task. When he sees a mouse, he will simply watch it without making any attempt to catch it. Or it may turn out that the cat is no less afraid of mice than you are. Therefore, do not expect that your woolly loafer will be able to catch a mouse in the apartment, rely on your own strength.

Traps are hand-made devices for catching mice. There are those that kill, and there are more humane ones, you can catch a mouse in them and then release it.

DIY traps

We will need very simple materials that are always at hand at home:

  • Bucket
  • Glass jar
  • Plastic bottle
  • Drink tin

Let's take a closer look at the methods of creating traps.

Catching mice with a jar

A glass jar with a volume of no more than 800 grams is suitable for this purpose. On one of the walls you need to stick a bread crumb, mashed with sunflower oil, then turn it upside down. Place it so that one edge rests on the edge of the coin. The mouse will try to eat the bait and drop the jar, becoming trapped.

Catch with a bucket

A suitable method if there are a lot of mice in the house. You will need a bucket and a knitting needle or a piece of thick wire onto which an empty half-liter plastic bottle will be attached. Thread the knitting needle through the bottle and secure it to the top of the bucket. Don't forget to pour water in a layer about 5 cm high and check that the bottle rotates easily. Grease the side of the bottle with peanut butter or attach a piece of lard. Place the board. The mouse will reach for the bait, slide into the bucket and drown. You will only need to throw out the water along with the dead animal. The advantage of this trap is that it is reusable. You don’t have to change the bait for several days, mice will still be caught.

Oil trick

Pour a spoon into a plastic bottle sunflower oil and shake it so that all the walls are oiled. After this, secure the bottle with an inclination of 45 degrees. You can place a stack of books or a board so that the mouse can quickly reach the entrance to the neck of the bottle. As soon as she, seduced by the smell of oil, slides inside, she will not be able to get back out, her paws will slide. All you have to do is release the caught mouse away from the house.

Making a trap from a plastic bottle

The bottle is tied by the neck with a strong rope, the length of which is approximately 30-40 centimeters, and the other end is secured. A fragrant bait is placed inside. The bottle is placed horizontally on the edge of a table or some other flat surface so that the half with the bait is above the floor. The point of this trap is that the mouse, attracted by the smell, climbs into the bottle and upsets the balance. The bottle falls and hangs in the air, tied to a rope. The mouse will not be able to get out and remains inside.

The easiest way to catch a mouse is with a three-liter jar

Place the jar on the floor, put the bait inside and provide the mouse with access (substitute a twig or books). She will climb in there, but will not be able to get out; the slippery walls and height will not provide such an opportunity.

An interesting method - we fish with a drink can

You drink cola, cut off the bottom of the can, make sharp rays along the edges, bend them inward and throw in a fragrant bait. The mouse slips in there for the fat, but the sharp edges prevent it from getting back out. Throw the jar in the trash.

It is best to place traps in places where rodents visit most often. Mice are nocturnal animals and begin to be active in the late afternoon, so set traps at night and check them in the morning.

Safety precautions when catching mice

Important! Don't forget that mice are pests and carriers of infection! Here are a few simple rules that will allow you to protect yourself:

  • do not touch dead mice and their waste products with your bare hands - wear rubber gloves;
  • do not allow pets to eat the corpses of mice - this is dangerous for them and can even be fatal;
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after disposing of captured mice.

To prevent mice from getting into the house

Take out the trash in a timely manner and it is best to have a garbage can with a lid. Do not leave food out overnight; remove crumbs and leftovers. Apply silicone glue to all cracks and holes in the floor. The easiest way to deal with any problem is to prevent it from occurring. So that you don’t have to worry about how to catch a mouse, just don’t let it settle in your house.

Despite the generally accepted opinion that pests can only appear in private residential buildings and in dachas, mice can increasingly be found in the homes of city residents.
Nowadays, no one is surprised by the appearance of mice in an apartment on the first floor.

Lack of regular processing basements leads to the reproduction of animals. Rodents often move to higher floors, which also do not guarantee protection against them. The animals get into small cracks under the baseboard, climb the walls of houses and electrical wires, get into the garbage chute, into holes near sewer pipes, live in ventilation holes.

If you find gnawed bags of cereal, flour or granulated sugar at home, you know that you have uninvited neighbors. In addition, they have settled in perfectly and are enjoying life in your city apartment. The kitchen is their favorite place, as there is always something to eat here.

The damage caused by rodents is not limited to spoiled food alone. Chewed baseboards, electrical wiring, insulation, things - pests gnaw everything that comes in their way.

In addition, mice are very fertile and can reproduce all year round, bringing up to 14 litters of 3-12 mice each. If you don't do it in time necessary measures Once they are destroyed, mice will soon fill your home. And then it will become very difficult to fight them.

Damage from rodents

Damage to property is just the beginning. Mice carry many dangerous diseases and infections, such as bubonic plague, murine typhus, leptospirosis, tularemia and others, thereby causing great harm to human health. Therefore, rodent control is primarily a concern for the health and safety of people.

Most people prefer to poison animals. However, this is not the best method of rodent control. Having eaten poison, the mouse can climb into some secluded place and die there. Getting her out of hiding will be problematic and the corpse will begin to emit a stench. And this is another problem that is not so easy to get rid of. And the poison can be very dangerous for both humans and pets.

Therefore, it is better to catch rodents. We will talk further about how to quickly catch a mouse in an apartment without a mousetrap.

But before you fight rodents, you need to address the reasons that attracted them to your home.

Eliminating the causes of mice

The most common reasons why rodents may appear in your apartment are related to unsanitary conditions. Leaving food on the table, crumbs on the floor, irregular garbage disposal, open food in accessible places - all this attracts mice.

  • clean up your apartment by hiding food in special closed containers;
  • remove water accessible to rodents. They can't stay without liquid for long, so there's a chance they won't last long with you;
  • install the grille on the exhaust vent;
  • Check the baseboard for holes and cracks. A hole with a diameter of 1 cm is enough for animals to crawl into your apartment;
  • Take out the trash regularly.

Only after living conditions for rodents become unfavorable can you begin to catch them.

Ways to catch pests without a mousetrap

Anyone who has a mousetrap can certainly use it. But it’s not often that people living in an apartment have it. Many people cannot even think that they will ever have mice. Although the mousetrap does not give 100% results. A particularly small mouse can safely pull off the bait and escape healthy and unharmed when the mousetrap is triggered.

But what to do if you don’t have a mousetrap at hand or you just feel sorry for killing an animal? It's better to take one of many effective ways who will teach you how to catch mice.

1. Rodent repellent glue. You can use special glue, which is sold in hardware stores. It is applied to a flat surface (board, paper). Any bait is placed in the middle. The animal, wanting to enjoy the treat, sticks and can no longer escape anywhere. Ready-made adhesive mats are also sold; the principle of operation is the same as that of glue. It is important that the rug or board with glue is kept out of the reach of children and pets.

2. We catch pests with a jar. For this method, an ordinary liter jar is suitable, inside of which we glue the bait with tape on the wall closer to the bottom. It could be lard, cookies, a piece of bread. We turn the jar upside down and place it on a sheet of cardboard at an angle so that one half of the neck is on the floor, and under the other we place a five-ruble coin on its edge. Trying to get the bait, the mouse will jump, the coin will fall, and the rodent will find itself in a glass trap. Pressing the cardboard to the neck, turn the jar over and remove the rodent.

Another simple trap option: you will need a three-liter jar in which to place favorite treat animal. The trap is ready! Place several books stacked on top of each other next to the jar so that the mouse can climb inside. Once in the bank, she simply will not be able to get out of it.

You can use a box instead of a can, attaching the bait with a short rope to its bottom. Turning the box over, place a support (for example, matches) under one side. Due to its instability, the structure will cover the mouse when it wants to eat the bait.

And a few more ways

3. Plastic bottle against mice. Another affordable way to lure the pest out of its hiding place and catch it. You will need a plastic bottle with bait, oiled inside. Place the bottle with the neck up so that it is located at an angle of 450 from the floor. So that the animal can climb inside, provide it with a board or ruler. When a mouse gets into a bottle, it cannot get out of it along the slippery walls.

4. Use the bucket as a trap. You can simply put a treat for the mouse in the bucket and place some kind of board next to it so that the animal can get into the bucket. And there is another way: cover the bucket with newspaper, after making a cross-shaped cut in the middle, and secure the bait on it (the main thing is that it does not fall through). The newspaper must be secured to the bucket with tape. When the animal reaches for the bait, it will fall into the bucket. If you pour water into a bucket, the mouse will drown.

And another simple method to catch a rodent using a bucket: you need to pierce a plastic bottle lengthwise with a knitting needle or wire so that it easily rotates around the rod. Fix this entire structure on top of the bucket. Attach bait to the bottle. The animal wants to taste it, climbs onto the bottle and, unable to resist, falls into the bucket due to the fact that the bottle is rotating.

5. Get a cat. Or borrow from friends. It's good if he catches mice. But even if the cat does not show any interest in the animals, they will leave your home just from the smell alone.
