Where is the best place to get treatment? Where is the best place to treat cervical cancer? Resorts in Germany or where to treat joints

Every person sooner or later needs the services of a dentist. Even if you have naturally strong teeth, it is necessary to visit this doctor - at least to make sure that everything is still in order, or to undergo professional cleaning. How to choose the right clinic and specialist?

Choosing a dental clinic is not easy. We want the doctor to be experienced and tactful, the atmosphere to be pleasant, and the prices to be reasonable. There are numerous dental clinics in Moscow, reviews about them vary, and pricing policies also vary. However, high cost of services does not always mean good quality- and you can verify this if you visit medical forums on the Internet, where patients leave reviews about dentists. At the same time, the very low cost of services is also alarming, and we try to avoid such clinics. So, where is the best place to treat teeth in Moscow and what to look for when choosing dentistry?

Which dental clinic is better for dental treatment: public vs private institutions

First of all, you have to choose the format of the institution: do you need a public or private dental clinic?

Of course, a municipal dental clinic will cost less, and sometimes even free. The times when the technical equipment of public dental clinics was noticeably inferior to private ones are in the past. Now city dentists often offer the most modern equipment and are used latest materials. The qualifications of doctors there are also high, many of them have extensive experience spanning decades. However, public clinics still lack comfort and a pleasant atmosphere. They do not need to attract patients, trying to provide a warm welcome, speed and convenience of service - thanks to prices and the ability to accept people under the policy, public dentistry never lacks patients. There are often queues here, and the staff is not always friendly - you can understand them: a huge flow of patients and low wage do not contribute to a good mood.

It should be said, however, that many private clinics now also offer low prices for dental treatment, hygienic cleaning, prosthetics and other procedures. However, unlike government ones, they work on the principle “the client is always right” - after all, if a person does not receive decent service, he will simply go to another clinic. Therefore, private dental clinics try to create a comfortable atmosphere for patients and provide an appropriate level of service; they also often offer discounts to regular clients, pensioners and other categories of citizens, and hold special promotions, reducing prices for certain services. As for doctors, private clinics can provide decent remuneration and try to hire professionals with extensive experience. Often doctors who come from state clinics work there.

How to choose a dental clinic

Spend a little time choosing a dental clinic - after all, we're talking about about your health.

The first step may be to visit the clinic’s website - it should be professionally designed, convenient, and contain all the necessary information about the clinic itself, specialists, services and prices. Sometimes patient reviews are also posted here. But we recommend, in addition, to look for reviews on other resources, and also find a rating of Moscow dental clinics by quality - this way you will get the most complete picture.

A sign of a good dental clinic is a wide range of services. If a dental clinic provides the services of different specialists, it means that it can afford it and business is going well here. In addition, during the treatment process you may need the services of a specialist, and you will not have to look for him in another clinic.

Once you have decided, call the selected clinics. The friendliness of the administrator is good sign, as well as his willingness to provide all specific information about appointment times, services and prices, at least approximate. If they tell you: “Come, let’s see, I can’t tell you anything over the phone,” hang up and forget about this clinic.

Consultations even in the best clinics are usually inexpensive, if not free. Take advantage of this - this way you can personally evaluate the doctor, the equipment of the office, and the level of comfort. If you don't like it, no one will force you to undergo treatment here.

Be sure to ask the doctor in advance, even before starting treatment, about guarantees, about the cost of correcting errors - for example, if a fresh filling falls out after three months, how much will it cost to install a new one. Inquire about dental instrument sterilization methods and hygiene standards.

Rating of dental clinics in Moscow: looking for a balance of price and quality

The choice of dental clinics in Moscow is very wide; there are both large chain clinics and small offices. For our review, we selected several of the largest dental centers with a good reputation.

"Tavi" and "Veronica"

These are business class dental clinics - with average prices and high standards service. The clinics were created in the mid-1990s under the auspices of the Russian Joint Stock Medical Company.

Therapeutic, orthopedic, surgical, orthodontic and periodontal dentistry services are provided here, diseases of the oral mucosa are treated, and an implantology department operates. For pain relief, a combination of injection and application anesthesia is used, so that the patient does not experience discomfort even during the injection itself. The clinic provides discounts to WWII participants, disabled people and pensioners, as well as young mothers for 6 months after the birth of the baby. In addition, all regular customers are given a discount card that can be passed on to friends and relatives.

Doctors from both clinics have great experience, some - more than 30 years. Both “Tavi” and “Veronica” provide a 1-year guarantee for all types of work.

"Center for Aesthetic Dentistry"

A network of clinics, including 6 branches in different areas of Moscow. All of them provide a wide range of quality dental services - from whitening to implantation. The clinic has its own dental laboratory for the manufacture of dentures from modern materials. Particular attention is paid to anesthesia, and dental treatment under general anesthesia is also offered. The prices are quite high.

"Denta Lux"

Dental clinic located next to the Maryina Roshcha metro station. The clinic has been operating since 1997. The appointment is conducted by a small but highly professional team of doctors. "Denta Lux" is equipped with modern equipment.

"Dentist"

“The American Dental Center “Dentist” offers clients a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere and services for treatment, restoration, implantation, dental prosthetics, as well as professional cleaning and whitening. The price tag is quite affordable, and appointments are conducted by doctors who, despite their youth, have already achieved impressive success and are members of the American Dental Association, which confirms their high qualifications.

"Smile"

One of the oldest private dentistry in Moscow, which began work in 1989. The clinic is conveniently located on Mira Avenue. They provide services in therapy, orthopedics, implantology, orthodontics, surgery, periodontics, as well as cleaning and whitening. The pride of the clinic is its staff of doctors, many of whom have the title of Candidate of Medical Sciences. The prices are low, and the clinic regularly holds promotions, offering discounts and installment plans for certain types of services.

"Alfa-Dent"

This is a relatively new clinic, opened only 6 years ago. However, she has already won the respect of clients thanks to the pleasant atmosphere and professionalism of the doctors. Here you can get diagnostics using modern technologies, as well as receive dental care in terms of treatment, implantation, removal, prosthetics, aesthetic restoration and teeth whitening. Prices are slightly above average.

Often we turn to the dentist only when the problem is already serious and treatment is urgent. This is the wrong approach - in a hurry, it is very difficult to objectively assess the merits of a clinic and choose the right one. Therefore, do not delay your visit to the dentist, and then the treatment will take place quickly and without discomfort.

Treatment of arthrosis and other joint diseases takes a long time. Sometimes one course takes 6–9 months, followed by its repetition at certain intervals for several years. The best sanatoriums for the treatment of joints in Russia and other countries offer their services to improve the health of patients. The procedures performed increase the effectiveness of basic drug therapy and prevent relapses of diseases.

The best sanatoriums and resorts use healing mud and springs to treat joints

Arthrosis, arthritis, and other diseases of the musculoskeletal system cause inflammation of intra-articular tissues, their destruction and subsequent deformation. Joint diseases differ in the clinic and have different causes, but several identical methods of physiotherapy are used in treatment: the use of mud, mineral waters, thermal springs.

Natural remedies improve metabolism, regeneration of cartilage, connective tissue, bones, blood circulation, reduce inflammation, and warm up diseased joints.

You can treat arthrosis in all sanatorium-resort complexes where there are mud and/or thermal springs. However, visiting these institutions is contraindicated during the period of exacerbation of the disease, as well as if the tissues of the knee and/or other joints are so deformed that the person is unable to move independently.

The best centers and resorts for the treatment of various joint diseases

For diseases of the musculoskeletal system, it is recommended to rest in the sanatoriums of Yurmino (Crimea), Poltava-Crimea (Saki), Sakropol (Saki), and the children's sanatorium named after. N.K. Krupskaya (Evpatoria) and other resorts on the Black Sea coast.

In order not to make a mistake when choosing a resort or sanatorium, you need to collect information about each of them on the Internet, find out the range of services provided and pricing policy. You should definitely ask for the opinion of your attending physician and consult with him.

Treatment programs for large joints in health resorts

Experts have selected a complex useful procedures for the treatment of diseases and support of the musculoskeletal system for the purpose of recovery, prevention of relapses, and prevention of complications.

Sanatorium and resort treatment includes the following therapeutic measures in the program:

  • balneotherapy (water treatments);
  • (mud, clay);
  • , bischofite;
  • exposure to heat (paraffin compresses);
  • massage;
  • interference therapy;
  • amplipulse therapy;
  • diadynamic currents.

Medical recommendation! To correctly select a health resort and a set of necessary procedures, you must first undergo a full examination. A medical institution may offer additional examination services for those body systems in the treatment of which it specializes.

You will need to find out prices directly from the administration (accounting) of institutions, since their size depends on the class of the institution, the range of services provided, and territorial affiliation. Also, the cost of accommodation and a set of procedures for the treatment of arthrosis may differ in the cold and warm seasons of the year, and decrease due to the offered promotions or discounts.

Balneotherapy

Water procedures are among the most important methods by which it is recommended to treat gonarthrosis, coxarthrosis, omarthrosis, polyarthrosis, arthrosis deformans, various arthritis and other joint problems. In therapy of the musculoskeletal system, mineral waters and gases from medicinal springs are used for external use.

Balneological procedures:

  • baths (general, local);
  • swimming pools;
  • souls (local, ascending);
  • hydromassage (impact of streams of water on the body).

Prescribing treatment with salts or gases to people with cardiac diseases should be done with caution, since the procedures increase blood circulation and the load on the heart may increase.

For joint pathology, the following types of therapeutic baths are useful:

  • hydrogen sulfide (improves metabolism, relieves pain, eliminates inflammation);
  • nitrogen (reduce muscle tension and pain, increase joint mobility);
  • radon (have an anti-inflammatory, calming, analgesic effect, improve metabolism, promote the elimination of toxins);
  • saline (have an analgesic and antispasmodic effect);
  • sulfide (eliminate the consequences of injuries, activate regeneration, blood supply, improve mobility).

Additional physiotherapy procedures - the use of black wax, paraffin, herbal remedies, therapeutic exercises, a special diet and other methods - will help heal joints in a sanatorium-resort environment.

Treatment is aimed at improving mobility and restoring joints.

Peloid therapy

Treatment procedures are based on the use of healing mud and clay. Typically, health resorts that use this method are located on the shores of mineral springs, salt lakes, the Dead Sea and the Black Sea.

Natural remedies for stage I–II arthrosis in the form of applications and wraps for 10 sessions qualitatively and gently warm up diseased joints, enrich damaged tissues with minerals, increase cell regeneration, and relieve swelling. With frequent relapses better penetration Galvanic mud therapy, balneotherapy, exercise therapy, and massage will provide healing substances to the joint tissues.

Interference therapy

The method is used for electrical stimulation of nerve and muscle fibers. It helps relax muscles and reduce the severity of contractures. With the help of several types of alternating currents in the diseased joint, blood supply is increased and vasoactive substances are better produced.

The procedure eliminates swelling and reduces inflammation in the periarticular tissues. The course consists of 15 sessions, the procedure lasts up to 30 minutes. This method is contraindicated in the presence of metal implants, a pacemaker, pregnancy, or cancer.

Amplipulsetherapy

This type of physiotherapy significantly reduces the intensity of pain, stimulates nerve endings, ligaments, and muscles. The procedure increases blood flow, improves lymph outflow and synovial fluid. In addition to eliminating congestion, amplipulse therapy improves local metabolism, increasing cell saturation with oxygen. The duration of the course is determined by the doctor based on the patient’s condition and the severity of the pathology.

Using sinusoidal currents with a frequency of 5–10 kHz, you can treat not only arthrosis of the knee, hip, shoulder joints and other joints, but also arthritis, radiculitis, atherosclerosis, diseases of the genitourinary and digestive systems. The main contraindications for using the method are the presence of a pacemaker, unhealed tissue damage (fractures, ruptures), and oncological tumors.

Diadynamic therapy

DDT, or Bernard currents, is one of the methods of therapy for joint diseases using electric current frequency 50–100 hertz. The course consists of 10-12 procedures. DDT has an analgesic effect, improves microcirculation of blood and lymph, stimulates metabolism and restoration of periarticular tissues. Persons with implanted devices are not allowed to be treated with Bernard currents. metal elements, the presence of a pacemaker, open lesions of the skin and bones in the problem area.

Conclusion

The best sanatoriums for the treatment of joints in Russia, near and far abroad have many natural remedies, thermal and mineral springs, where famous resorts are located. By choosing the right health facility and the season of the year, you can heal your joints and have a good rest.

As a rule, people go abroad for treatment for better medical services and high-quality service, as well as for a second opinion, experts say. Foreign treatment is chosen for rare diseases - people go abroad simply because there are no specialized specialists in Russia or there are very few of them.

Often, a trip abroad becomes the last chance for a patient - when all methods have already been tried in their own country. The choice in favor of treatment abroad is often made when there is a long queue for examination or surgery and there is no time to wait. According to the Russian Association of Medical Tourism (AOMMT), in 2016, more than 90 thousand people went abroad for treatment. Last year this number increased by almost a third.

No longer traveling abroad

The experts themselves do not note any significant changes in the number of Russians who choose foreign treatment. At the same time, the reasons why they fly abroad change.

Over the past five to eight years, there have been no big changes, says MedRise CEO Yulia Odintsova. However, there is some getting used to the idea that you have to pay for medicine, as well as to the size of the upcoming costs.

“Previously, a large number of patients applied after going through all the circles of hell at home: having tried many possibilities and not receiving help, they decided to seek help from foreign doctors. Already at a different stage, perhaps in a more advanced state. There is now a trend where some people decide to travel as soon as a problem is discovered. This is perhaps the difference,” says Yulia Odintsova.

The Treatment Abroad company also does not note any major changes. “The number of such trips cannot change much, since there is a serious price limit for their significant growth, and there is also no reason for a decrease in demand for treatment abroad.”

In addition, the global medical tourism market is growing, and people themselves have become more accepting of treatment in other countries. Therefore, interest in this area does not decrease. We expect an increase, albeit slow, in the number of trips for treatment,” says Galina Dronova, director of UCMS Treatment Abroad.

However, according to her, the medical reasons why people go abroad for treatment have changed. If earlier there were many trips for general preventive examinations (check-ups), and this is on average about two thousand euros per person, now there are much fewer such trips.

“People save on preventive health care. And this is the most significant trend in recent years. But the number of requests from people with complex, severe and rare diseases is increasing, and the price of their treatment is usually high,” notes Galina Dronova.

Yulia Odintsova, on the contrary, notes an increase in the number of requests for examinations abroad. The vast majority of requests, she said, are related to cancer treatment and testing, ophthalmology and neurosurgery, with gastroenterology, pediatrics and rare diseases also added, she says.

According to the company TopMedClinic, in the last few years the number of Russians traveling abroad has decreased by about a third. “For example, on average we receive about 90 requests monthly, of which 12-15 patients actually go for treatment. Most often they address issues of oncology, cardiac surgery and endoprosthetics. Diagnostics is not so relevant now,” says Victoria Sandalyuk, director of TopMedClinic.

In her opinion, the reduction in the flow of Russians was influenced by several factors - a decrease in the solvency of the population, the weakening of the ruble and the introduction of sanctions.

The Russian Ministry of Health previously announced a reduction in the number of Russians going abroad for treatment. For example, to Israel and Germany, which are the most popular countries among Russians, the flow of patients decreased by 60% and 30%, respectively.

At the same time, the number of foreigners who come to Russia for treatment is growing, noted Veronika Skvortsova. Thus, according to her, in 2017 the number of foreigners coming to Russia for treatment increased fourfold. This is about 110 thousand people. The most popular areas among foreigners are dentistry, IVF, endoprosthetics and ophthalmology.

Budgets and prices

As for the budget that Russians are willing to spend on treatment abroad, it is difficult to come up with an average figure, experts say. There is too much variation in countries, prices and what patients themselves want. One needs a “second opinion”, the second needs rehabilitation, the third needs an accurate diagnosis or a complex high-tech operation.

photo: thermal springs, Türkiye / shutterstock

For example, according to TopMedClinic, removal of a brain tumor in Germany will cost from 18 thousand euros, in Spain - from 16 thousand euros, in Turkey - 14 thousand euros, in South Korea - from 15 thousand euros.

On average, Russians are willing to spend about two million rubles on treatment abroad. This amount has not changed in the last few years, says Victoria Sandaluk. According to MedRise, the average bill for Lately has not changed and amounts to 15-25 thousand euros (1.1-1.8 million rubles).

“However, due to currency fluctuations in terms of euros or dollars, this amount has been seriously reduced. This led to many patients looking for an alternative in clinics in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Of course, there are medical services that can only be obtained abroad, but Russian clinics now provide approximately 90% of medical services themselves,” notes Victoria Sandaluk.

As a rule, in foreign clinics, prices for medical services for foreigners are 10% higher than for the local population. However, you cannot focus only on the starting price, because sometimes there may be large additional costs (for example, the stay in the clinic will be longer).

“In Germany they always take a deposit into the clinic’s bank account, which they return at the end of the operation. But if something needs to be done, they know that they can cover these manipulations,” says Victoria Sandaluk.

The cost of services may vary from country to country and vary significantly even within the same city. This happens, for example, in Germany.

“Different prices for the same treatment will be in a university multidisciplinary clinic and in a private clinic. Of course, the highest prices will be in private clinics in Switzerland, while in university clinics, for example, in northern Germany, prices are significantly lower,” explains Galina Dronova.

Favorites

For many years, the most popular countries for treatment among Russians have been Israel and Germany. Switzerland, Austria and France are also popular. Recently, Russians are more often making their choice in favor of Turkey, Spain and Italy.

photo: Dead Sea, Israel/shutterstock

According to AOMMT, over the 10 months of last year, 23 and 18 thousand Russians visited Israel and Germany, respectively. The main areas are oncology, cardiac surgery, orthopedics.

AOMMT notes a sharp increase in the flow of Russian patients traveling to Turkey for treatment. One of the reasons is more affordable treatment, on average 30-50% cheaper than Germany and Israel. To India, Thailand, South Korea and China, for example, over 30 thousand people left.

The popularity of countries for treatment is determined by a combination of several factors, experts explain. These are trust, reputation, high level of professionalism of doctors and clinics themselves, service and cost of treatment.

Germany, Austria, Finland, Switzerland and Israel best meet the needs of Russians, says the director of UCMS Treatment Abroad. Doctors recognized in the international medical community work here, and a high level of service has been established for receiving foreign patients. That is, doctors and clinics are ready to work with foreign patients (there is all the infrastructure for this, a low language barrier - professional translators work with foreign patients). And this is important.

In addition, South Korea, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and the Baltic countries are now actively entering the market. But the ratio of determining factors here is different. In some places the organization suffers, in others there is a high level of language barrier. Although these countries are more affordable for Russians in terms of price, with the exception of South Korea. The popularity of China is not so great - it has its own specific treatment.

The patient himself, as a rule, can only ask about Israel or Germany. In Russian regions, for example, only these two countries are considered, says the director of the TopMedClinic company.

“We once held an event in Rostov, and there was a rush among local residents for Israeli clinics. And for the Spanish clinic, which was many times more budgetary and not inferior in level to the Israeli one, there was minimal demand. The regions are conservative in this regard and are practically not open to new countries,” she notes.

There are certain subjects who choose other directions. For example, if we look at the North Caucasus, they will prefer Turkey. Residents Far East will fly to South Korea. Clinics there will be comparable in price to German ones, but much closer.

In terms of country preferences, the picture is different in Moscow and St. Petersburg. For example, residents Northern capital, in addition to the usual Germany, they often go for treatment to neighboring Finland and the Baltic states. Spain has entered the market well in Moscow.

What and where is treated

With serious diseases - oncological or diseases that require high-tech treatment, such as endoprosthetics, robotic surgery, nuclear medicine, Russians go to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, says the director of UCMS Treatment Abroad.

photo: Cardiology Medical Center, Switzerland /shutterstock

Often Türkiye or Greece become the choice for a holiday trip. At the same time, people are ready to undergo examination or go for a consultation with a local specialist.

In Turkey, for example, many hair transplant operations are performed. In addition, oncological diseases are treated here - there are many high-quality medical clinics and prices are lower than European ones. Most often, residents of the North Caucasus choose Turkey.

“Spain, for example, is the main place in the European Union where donor corneas are stored. Therefore, Spain has the largest number of ophthalmological operations and is a leader in this niche. Italy is the European leader in cardiac surgery,” says Victoria Sandaluk.

There is good rehabilitation in the Baltics, no worse than in other European countries, but the price is five times lower. This is the treatment of cerebral palsy, musculoskeletal diseases, and there are thermal waters there.

In general, from the point of view of medical tourism, it is difficult to talk about fashion or trends in destinations. Each request is very individual, so many factors have to be taken into account, experts say.

At the same time, patients themselves must understand that there are no magic clinics abroad that will instantly cure them. First of all, it is not a specific clinic that treats, but a doctor. Therefore, the professionalism of doctors is more important here.

The question of how and what to treat rheumatoid arthritis is asked by every person who has had to deal with this difficult disease. With this disease, as a rule, mixed symptoms are observed, so in order to avoid serious consequences, you need to think about proper treatment as soon as possible.

The modern approach involves the use of two types of drugs:

  • anti-inflammatory drugs;
  • basic.

Surgical treatment is necessary only if severe joint deformation occurs.

Principle of anti-inflammatory treatment

It is based on eliminating the symptoms of the disease and includes prescribing the patient non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroids ( steroid hormones, produced in the adrenal cortex). They reduce joint pain and inflammation. These medications can make a patient's life much easier, but they will not cure arthritis.

At the same time, drugs can help when pannus is diagnosed - tissue consisting of lymphocytes and overgrown vessels. It grows quite quickly, causing destruction (destruction) of cartilage.

If you stop taking medications, the disease gradually returns. That is why they should be taken simultaneously with basic drugs, but first things first.

NSAIDs

Treatment with these drugs should begin with the least toxic drugs that have the property of rapid absorption and excretion from the body. These include:

  • diclofenac (analogs are naklofen and dikloberl);
  • ketoprofen or ketonal;
  • ibuprofen (analogs - ibutard and ibuprom).

Piroxicam, indomethacin and ketorolac are considered stronger drugs. However, these tablets may affect the functioning of the stomach, kidneys or cardiovascular system.

Selective anti-inflammatory drugs

Extremely effective in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Their advantage is a lower number of side effects compared to the previous group of drugs. These include celecoxib (an analogue drug - Celebrex) and meloxicam (Movalis). They can be taken for both short and long periods of time.

Corticosteroids

Drugs in this series include:

  • dexamethasone,
  • triamcinolol,
  • betamethasone,
  • prednisolone,
  • methylprednisolone, also known as metypred.

For rheumatoid arthritis, the use of these medications can very quickly relieve pain and improve the general condition of the patient, but the list of side effects that they can have on the patient’s body is quite long.

One of the most effective anti-inflammatory drugs can also be called the drug Mabthera. It is produced in the form of infusions, so its use must be supervised by a doctor or nurse.

Principle of basic treatment

Basic drugs are slow-acting drugs, “second-line” drugs. They make it possible to treat by acting on the root cause of the disease. The drugs prevent (in mild cases slow down) the destruction of joints, but they cannot be considered anti-inflammatory drugs. In modern basic therapy, the following drugs are actively used: cytostatics, antimalarial drugs, sulfonamides, penicillamine.

Cytostatics

This group of drugs includes: Arava, cyclosporine, Remicade, cyclophosphamide, azathioprine methotrexate. Most rheumatologists consider them the best option for basic therapy; they can help not only with rheumatoid, but also with psoriatic arthritis. Methotrexate for rheumatoid arthritis can be called one of the most potent drugs. If the desired effect cannot be achieved, the doctor may prescribe monoclonal antibodies, which have a similar effect.

The drug also goes well with folic acid. These are B vitamins. When used, the body produces more red blood cells, which will help reduce pain and slightly reduce inflammation without side effects.

Methotrexate can be used both in the form of tablets and injections - intravenous injections.

In general, drugs in this group affect the cells of biochemical substances that aggressively affect the patient’s body and suppress their activity.

Antimalarials

Plaquenil and delagil belong to this group. The drugs act slowly and are not very effective, but they are well tolerated by the body and can be prescribed in cases where individual intolerance to the components of other drugs is diagnosed.

Sulfonamides

This group includes sulfasalazine and salazopyridazine. The principle of action is similar to antimalarials, but there are few side effects.

Penicillamine

This includes cuprenil. A fairly strong and at the same time toxic drug that allows you to treat arthritis only in cases where other drugs do not help or are not tolerated by the patient’s body.

Previously, gold preparations were used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, but doctors are gradually abandoning them. The fact is that the quantity and quality of side effects turned out to be too large and strong (“golden” nephropathy or dermatitis). Nevertheless, they are sometimes prescribed, especially at the very beginning of the development of the disease, since the risk of side effects is still low.

Traditional medicine in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

Since ancient times, traditional medicine methods have been considered very effective in treating a variety of diseases, rheumatoid arthritis is no exception. In this case folk recipes enjoy the advantage since in most cases they can be made using improvised means at home.

When treating this type of arthritis, various rubbing and compresses are effective methods. Such recipes can consist of leaves and roots of plants such as violet, nettle, red clover, cinquefoil, birch, as well as mustard powder and paraffin and other herbal remedies.

A separate place in folk medicine occupy infusions. The most popular are recipes with the following herbs:

  1. Mix black elderberry flowers (10 g), chopped birch leaves (40 g), finely chopped willow bark (50 g). Brew and take 0.5 cups 4 times a day before meals.
  2. Mix black elderberry, stinging nettle, parsley root and willow bark (all 30 g each). Take as described above.
  3. The leaves of birch, stinging nettle and tricolor violet are mixed (all 25 g each). Here the dosage can be increased to 4-6 servings (0.5 cups) daily.

Recipes are recipes, but it is important to remember that folk remedies can only serve as an auxiliary weapon in the fight against the disease. They cannot replace drug treatment in any way; they can only enhance the effect of chemical drugs. In this case, taking this or that infusion must be discussed with your doctor, who will help you choose the best decoction in each specific case. It is possible that the drugs described above in combination with any component of the infusions can cause an allergic reaction. You should be vigilant and not show excessive independence.

ASD for rheumatoid arthritis deserves special attention, since Dorogov’s antiseptic (that’s what the name stands for) has excellent anti-inflammatory and healing properties.

Physiotherapeutic procedures

Similar procedures and therapeutic massage, in which any ointment is used, help treat rheumatoid arthritis and enhance the effect of taking medicines. They strengthen muscle tissue, reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation.

The most common and used procedures are phonophoresis, ozokerite or amplipulse. It is important to remember that such physical therapy is contraindicated if an acute form of rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed. In this case the best option There will be systematic therapeutic exercises.

When carrying out physiotherapeutic procedures and massage in general, regularity and strict control by the doctor are important, as this will help consolidate the effect achieved from each session.

Carrying out independent treatment with various antibiotics without the supervision of a doctor means aggravating the situation and making it difficult for a specialist to prescribe the necessary drugs. Even everyone’s favorite aspirin is best not taken without consulting your doctor.

The worst enemy is the enemy you don't know. Throughout our lives, the joints of the body are exposed to various influences - loads, unfavorable environments, hypothermia, injuries. All this leads to the appearance of various diseases of human joints, one of the most dangerous of which is rheumatoid arthritis. Despite the fact that the pathogenesis, that is, the mechanism of the disease, is well known, a universal treatment for rheumatoid arthritis has not yet been developed. The thing is that the etiology of this disease is unclear - scientists have not yet figured out for what reasons it develops.

Three horsemen of rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease whose etiology is unclear. The pathogenesis of the disease includes the development of inflammatory processes in the synovial membrane, damage to the surrounding muscles, ligaments and joints, which is accompanied by an autoimmune malfunction in the body - protective leukocyte cells, instead of identifying and destroying foreign organisms, begin to process the body's cells, mainly joint tissue. The etiology of the immune system failure is also not clear.

Most often, the lesion begins with the hands, then the disease switches to larger joints - elbows, ankles, knees. At the moment, etiology distinguishes three factors that provoke the development of the disease:

  1. Hereditary predisposition to autoimmune processes and the presence of a certain antigen in human DNA.
  2. Transferred infectious diseases, ranging from herpes and shingles to hepatitis.
  3. The provoking factor is hypothermia, poisoning, intoxication and others.

But the etiology also revealed a rather interesting fact: in women who prefer to breastfeed their children, the risk of developing the disease is reduced several times.

Clinical picture

The clinic describes the stages of the disease. There are only three degrees of development of the disease:

  1. In the first stage of development, only swelling of the synovial membranes, as well as periarticular tissues - muscles and ligaments, is observed, which leads to pain, swelling of the joint and a local increase in temperature;
  2. In the second stage of development, rapid cell division occurs inside the joint capsule, causing it to become denser;
  3. In the third degree, newly formed cells begin to produce an enzyme that causes destruction of joint tissues, leading to loss of mobility, increased pain, and deforming processes.

The clinic also revealed that the course of the disease is most often symmetrical. That is, if the fingers on the right hand were affected, then soon the fingers on the left limb will be involved in the process, and the same ones.

The clinical picture of arthritis often has an increasing character - first the fingers and then the toes are involved in the process, after which larger joints are affected. An acute nature is much less common - when large joints begin to hurt first, and then smaller ones.

In addition to damage to the hands, fingers and joints, extra-articular changes in the body are observed. Malfunctions are observed in internal organs such as the heart, respiratory system, kidneys, and even changes in blood composition. Only comprehensive diagnostics can detect such changes.

Diagnosis

Diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis comes down to determining the presence of several signs:

  • rheumatoid nodules;
  • rheumatoid factor in the blood;
  • inflammatory process in the synovium;
  • bone erosions.

Diagnosis of the disease includes a mandatory blood test, as well as x-ray and ultrasound examination of the painful joint. In addition, synovial fluid is also analyzed.

Diagnosis also includes identifying signs in the general condition of the patient. As a rule, patients experience stiffness throughout the body in the morning, which goes away by lunchtime, increasing pain closer to dawn, and almost complete absence of pain at night. In addition, the patient begins to develop extra-articular symptoms - chills, a feeling of weakness, weight loss. worsening sleep, loss of appetite. The functioning of internal organs - kidneys, lungs, heart - is also disrupted.

Diagnosis carried out at the first signs of arthritis helped to identify the disease in the early stages of development. Thus, the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis was no longer pointless - it significantly improved the patient’s condition.

Treatment methodology

As the pathogenesis of arthritis has clearly shown us, the development of the disease is most often caused by a failure in immune system, as well as inflammatory reactions inside the joint. It is obvious that effective treatment may consist only of suppressing such manifestations. That is why the drugs prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis act on two levels:

  1. By reducing the activity of errant leukocytes.
  2. Slowing down or suppressing inflammatory processes.

Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is based on achieving several goals - relief of pain symptoms and inhibition of the development of the disease, reduction and elimination of structural changes in tissues with varying degrees of disease activity and improving the quality of life of patients, an attempt to maintain their ability to work.

To achieve these goals, drug treatment therapy is mainly used. In second place are new methods of non-drug treatment, and in third place are treatment with orthopedic means, therapeutic exercises, and stay in a sanatorium.

Use of medications

As is already clear, the pathogenesis of the disease can be influenced at two levels - by suppressing the activity of the immune system or eliminating the symptoms of inflammation. In order to solve these problems, the patient can be prescribed drugs from the following groups:

  1. Basic anti-inflammatory drugs. They are the basis of treatment and, in the absence of contraindications, are prescribed to each patient. They base their action on suppressing the activity of the immune system.
  2. Biological drugs are a product of biotechnology and have a targeted effect on the causes of inflammatory processes and suppress the immune system.
  3. Glucocorticosteroids. Drugs that have a double effect - they suppress the activity of leukocytes and relieve inflammation.
  4. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs - used to relieve inflammatory processes in tissues.

The best effect is achieved by a combination of both the medications themselves and treatment methods: therapeutic exercises are carried out at the stage of remission of the disease, and it is better to carry out the recovery itself in a sanatorium.

Basic anti-inflammatory components

Basic anti-inflammatory drugs (DMARDs) are prescribed for any degree of development of arthritis of the hands and other joints, in the absence of contraindications. It is most effective to use them in the first degree of damage - then it is possible to delay the appearance of other symptoms for as long as possible.

The drugs have become so widespread due to a number of positive effects, such as suppressing the activity of errant white blood cells and maintaining the effect after discontinuation of use. The condition of patients significantly improves and the erosive processes of articular tissues of the hands, fingers, and other joints are slowed down.

According to the degree of impact on the pathogenesis of the disease, drugs are divided into two series. The first row combines the best effectiveness and tolerability by the body, the second - the same effect, but with increased intoxication of the human body. The best effect is observed when treated in a sanatorium.

The best treatment is achieved with methotrexate, a first-line drug, which is also called the gold standard by Russian therapists. Medicines such as leflunomide or Arava, sulfasalazine may also be prescribed. Second-line drugs are prescribed when the first group is ineffective.

Biological treatments

Such drugs are a product of bioengineering and contain antibodies and active molecules that suppress immune inflammation. A remarkable feature of such drugs is the fact that they interact effectively with DMARDs, mainly methotrexate. The main advantage of such drugs is their rapid effect - improvement occurs within a few days. The components effectively affect the joints of the hands, feet and other joints.

The disadvantages of taking it during rheumatic treatment are the following: the high price of treatment, suppression of the immune system, as well as a high risk of developing allergies and autoimmune processes due to the protein composition of the components.

The main tablets of this group are represented by infliximab, adalimumab, etanercept, rituximab, anakinrat, abatasept. The best effect is observed when treated in a sanatorium.

Glucocorticosteroids

Therapeutic therapy with glucocorticosteroids makes it possible to inhibit the pathogenesis of the formation of new inflammatory cells by blocking cytokines and prostaglandins. Medicines have a pronounced and rapid effect, but they cannot replace the main treatment and are prescribed together with DMARDs, mainly methotrexate. The disadvantage of such drugs is that they cause a series of consequences that are proportional to the dose of the substance.

For the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, these drugs are prescribed systemically and locally. Systemically - these are tablets for oral administration, locally - injections into the joint or intravenously. Effects after use occur after 1-3 days and last for several weeks. The best effect is observed when treated in a sanatorium.

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs

Therapeutic therapy with non-steroidal drugs is prescribed to eliminate symptoms of pain, reduce fever and suppress inflammatory processes. They do not affect the pathogenesis of the disease, but only mask the symptoms. NSAIDs have a number of contraindications, both in terms of effectiveness and tolerability.

New methods of treating joints of the hands, feet, knees and other joints in Russia are more likely to be painkillers in nature and are not able to change the course of the disease. Treatment procedures are often carried out with bicillin, a drug from the penicillin group, which suppresses the inflammatory process at varying degrees of its manifestation. Often, taking NSAIDs achieves a reduction in pain symptoms, after which therapeutic exercises begin.

Sanatorium treatment

Treatment at the sanatorium is effectively combined with taking medicinal components.

Before visiting sanatorium-therapeutic institutions, it is recommended to consult with your doctor - at some stages of the disease it is better to stay in a clinic.

A referral to a sanatorium can be issued after joint surgery. Referrals are given to patients who are capable of moving independently and have maintained their vital activity. Treatment at the sanatorium is indicated for people who have undergone treatment for rheumatoid arthritis with hormonal drugs.

As a rule, treatment of joints of the hands, feet, knees and other joints is carried out in a sanatorium in combination with other methods, such as therapeutic exercises. The main effect in the sanatorium is mud baths, mineral waters, brine, as well as a calm and moderate rhythm of life, fresh air and a pleasant environment.

Unconventional methods of treatment

Some patients treat the joints of the arms, legs and other parts of the body by fasting. The effectiveness of this method has been questioned. It is supposed that fasting should contribute to the natural destruction of the synthesis of cells that cause inflammation, but in reality, the person only gets exhaustion.

Herbal treatment is no less popular. Many medicinal components that are used in medicines for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis are actually extracted from herbs. Only the concentration of these substances in their natural state is so low that they cannot provide proper treatment.

At the same time, gymnastics is widely used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Just do not forget that physical education is only an auxiliary means of slowing the progression of the disease, and in some cases it is even contraindicated.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease that mainly affects the joints of the extremities - the arms and legs. It is impossible to cure it, but you can achieve an improvement in the condition and even a decrease in pain symptoms and an increase in physical activity. The main thing is to start treatment on time and not start it at the remission stage.

Doctors are confident that the most common diseases of the 11th century are associated with disorders in musculoskeletal system, which is due to a sedentary lifestyle and office work. One such disease is rheumatoid arthritis. It, like other types of arthritis, implies an inflammatory disease of the joints, both several and one. The disease has an initial stage, acute and chronic.

It is almost impossible to recognize the disease in the early stages; it is similar to ordinary fatigue, so arthritis is an insidious disease that affects the body slowly and imperceptibly. Only a doctor, having carried out the necessary examination, can definitely make a diagnosis.

Doctors

A person who discovers symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis wonders which doctor treats this disease. And here, there are several solutions, depending on the specific situation, the causes of symptoms, the stage of the disease and much more. Most often, this issue is dealt with by such specialists as:

  • arthrologist
  • rheumatologist
  • therapist
  • pediatrician
  • immunologist
  • vertebrologist
  • surgeon
  • traumatologist

First of all, the patient needs to see an arthrologist - a specialist who specializes in joint diseases, conducts diagnostics and prescribes therapeutic and preventive therapy. A rheumatologist, a doctor who treats inflammatory and degenerative diseases of the joints, can also help with rheumatoid arthritis.

It is worth noting that rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease. Therefore, complex treatment requires consultation with an immunologist. The specialist will assess the patient’s condition and help select the correct dose of basic medications so as not to harm the immune system.

One of the most dangerous arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis of the spine, which is accompanied by back pain. In this case, a doctor such as a vertebrologist can provide consultation. His responsibilities include the treatment of pathologies associated with the spinal column.

In some advanced cases, the problem can only be solved by surgical intervention. Then the patient is registered with a surgeon or orthopedist.

Sometimes arthritis occurs due to injury. Even if a bruise or sprain was received several years ago, they can reappear after some time, especially for elderly people and weather-sensitive patients. In this case, you need to see a traumatologist. It is he who treats this type of illness, conducts the necessary examinations and takes x-rays.

Where to treat

We can say with certainty that rheumatoid arthritis can be cured by any clinic, at least in major cities. The disease occurs quite often, so even clinics under the compulsory medical insurance policy diagnose it in Russia.

The community outpatient department is the first point where rheumatoid arthritis is successfully treated at the expense of the insurance company. In large cities, clinics are quite developed and have a good base of specialized specialists, as well as professional equipment for the treatment of any disease. In addition, medical care in government institutions of this type is provided free of charge, and each doctor has professional education and many years of experience. The disadvantage of such an institution is the queues, which drag on for several hours, or even days.

Medical centers are institutions for patients who do not want to wait for an appointment with a specialist, but are willing to pay money for the comfort and speed of service. Today there are many such centers, and there are also those that specialize in arthritis. Here you can find any specialist, modern equipment, as well as non-traditional methods of treatment. The cost of services in such institutions varies depending on the reputability of the company, as well as the diagnosis and methods of therapy.

Sanatoriums - treatment in sanatorium conditions is prescribed to people with chronic stages of rheumatoid arthritis. Such places employ the necessary specialists who treat patients and provide advisory services. In sanatoriums, treatment is carried out according to a full-fledged program, including physiotherapy, exercise therapy, proper nutrition, rest. Many sanatoriums are located in resort towns in Russia, the climatic conditions of which help to quickly cure rheumatoid and rheumatoid arthritis.

Foreign treatment is the best, but expensive method of getting rid of arthritis. Most patients wishing to undergo therapy abroad choose the USA and Germany for these purposes, where almost every clinic is equipped with the latest equipment, and unique, effective means are used for treatment. Israel is very popular, with its the highest level medicine and Dead Sea resorts. Every patient who went to Israel can proudly say: “I am being treated in one of the best clinics in the world.”

Clinics

When choosing which clinic is right for you, you need to pay attention to the availability of the necessary specialists and equipment in the institution, as well as reviews from visitors that can be found on the Internet.

The most popular honey. institutions that treat rheumatoid arthritis are:

  • Dr. Dikul Center
  • Modern clinic of oriental and traditional medicine “Parmita”
  • Medical Center "Edem"
  • Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Semashko Hospital
  • Clinical Hospital on Yauza
  • City Clinical Hospital named after. S.P. Botkin

Difficulties

Unfortunately, specialized specialists are not always available in municipal clinics, much less in outpatient clinics located in small towns or villages. If you cannot find a suitable doctor at your nearest clinic, you should contact a general practitioner. He can also cure the primary stage of arthritis, and if the disease progresses, the therapist will help with arranging a referral to a specialized clinic. A child with rheumatoid arthritis should definitely visit an orthopedist; a pediatrician should not treat such a pathology.

There are times when the therapist cannot establish the real reason the appearance of the disease, and accordingly, prescribe the correct treatment or refer to the necessary doctor. Then the patient must undergo a comprehensive examination: an ultrasound and cardiogram, blood and urine tests, X-rays, and also see several medical professionals at once, for example, a neurologist, a surgeon, a physiotherapist.

Treatment

After diagnosing the disease, the patient will be prescribed a complex of therapeutic therapy, which, most likely, will not be possible without visiting medical institutions. After all, arthritis is treated using several methods at once:

  • basic and anti-inflammatory drugs
  • physiotherapy
  • massage
  • sanatorium treatment

It is important to correctly diagnose the pathology in the early stages and identify its causes. This will help the doctor prescribe the right treatment. Otherwise, rheumatoid arthritis can cause severe complications, including disability. That is why you should be careful and very carefully select a clinic, making sure that it employs competent specialists.

If the patient is not sure of the diagnosis or the treatment does not help him, then it is necessary to inform the doctor about this, and, if possible, consult with other specialists.

Arthritis (Latin - inflammation of the joint) is a disease that is extremely common among people over 40 years of age, but today there are also rare types of arthritis that typically manifest in childhood and adolescence. What causes the development of the disease, how to recognize its symptoms in time and choose the most effective method treatment?

Many people do not see the difference between arthritis and arthrosis, although these two are fundamentally various diseases joints. Arthrosis is an age-related chronic degenerative disease in which deformation of the joints occurs; it manifests itself as pain during the daytime and during movement; arthritis is the result of inflammatory processes throughout the body, leading to acute pain in the joints, mainly at night and regardless of movements. In some cases, arthrosis is a complication of advanced arthritis.

Arthritis can develop slowly and gradually (chronic forms) or suddenly and abruptly ( sharp forms). Arthritis is often accompanied by a fever. With arthritis, joint pain is always observed, but its presence is not always a sign of arthritis.

Until now, medical research has not established all the causes of existing types of arthritis, and the causes of some types of disease remain a mystery, for example, psoriatic arthritis. However, most of them are still known:

  • Bacterial, viral or fungal infection(reactive arthritis, infectious arthritis);
  • Metabolic disorders (gout);
  • Failures in the immune system, which can also be of an infectious-allergic nature, for example, after the flu (rheumatoid arthritis);
  • Disturbances in the hormonal system;
  • Diseases of the nervous system (rheumatoid arthritis);
  • Hypothermia and injuries (osteoarthritis, traumatic arthritis);
  • Systemic malnutrition and deficiency of vitamins and microelements (dystrophic arthritis).

Each type of arthritis has its own cause, the primary treatment should be aimed at eliminating it. Symptoms of arthritis may also vary depending on the form of the disease and its type, but joint pain is an inevitable accompaniment of any arthritis. So, the symptoms of arthritis include:

  • Intense and/or twitching pain in the affected joint, worsening at night when the body is stationary;
  • Edema and swelling in the joint area;
  • Redness of the skin in the joint area;
  • Increase in temperature at the site of joint damage up to 40 o C;
  • Impaired motor function of the joint, stiffness;
  • Body weakness and weight loss.

The main consequences, or complications, of advanced arthritis in relation to the joint are sepsis, that is, purulent inflammation of the synovial bursa of the joint, or arthrosis - destruction and/or deformation of the joint. The consequences of a number of arthritis can be damage to some internal organs, most often the kidneys, bladder, liver and heart.

Proper treatment of arthritis is always complex, long-term and systematic. It should be aimed at eliminating the cause of arthritis, relieving pain and inflammation. At the same time, depending on the form, type and degree of arthritis, a prognosis for cure is given, which in some cases can be disappointing.

The classic treatment regimen for arthritis of any etiology includes:

  • Prescription of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) intravenously, intramuscularly or intra-articularly, in addition ointments can be used;
  • The use of glucocorticosteroids (hormonal anti-inflammatory drugs) in the form of intra-articular injections;
  • Taking muscle relaxants to relieve muscle spasms that appear against the background of joint pain, and sometimes anticonvulsants;
  • Use of antidepressants during the development of arthritis due to stress;
  • Local injections of anesthetics into trigger zones (pain points);
  • Prescription of gastroprotectors and proton pump inhibitors, for example, omeprazole, to protect the gastrointestinal tract from the irritating effects of NSAIDs;
  • Taking chondroprotectors, drugs that improve the quality of joint cartilage tissue - chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine - for a course of up to 6 months, and abandoning them if progress in treatment with them was not noticed during this period;
  • Consumption of vitamins (A, E, C, B1, B3, B6, B12), microelements (molybdenum, selenium, sulfur, zinc, copper, manganese) and amino acids (arginine, methionine);
  • Changing load regimes on joints using bandages, orthoses, orthopedic insoles;
  • Changing the diet in accordance with the diagnosed type of arthritis - therapeutic diet;
  • Exercise therapy and manual therapy aimed at restoring the natural biomechanics of the joints and preventing congestion in the joints, degeneration of the periarticular ligaments and muscles;
  • Courses various types physiotherapy: laser, magnetic, electric pulse, shock wave therapy.

The above principles for the treatment of various arthritis can be successfully supplemented, and in some cases replaced, with modern homeopathic methods and medications.
