Ksenia Kostyleva

I thought for a long time about what gift to give with the guys on March 8th, and accidentally on the Internet I came across beautiful bottles with colored sand. I was delighted, but didn’t know where to get such sand. In one of the articles they talked about what you can use instead of sand: salt(EXTRA, very fine and it turned out to be quite easy to paint.

1. For work we need:

Gouache paints;

- Salt(EXTRA) small;

Funnel;

rolling pin (or hammer);

Teaspoon;

Knitting needle;

Painted jars salt;

Cellophane bags;

Empty bottle.

2. Salt coloring:

First, dilute the gouache in a container with a small amount of water (the more water, the lighter color. The less water, the the color is more intense). Then pour salt into a plate and pour colored water .

Mix gently salt with a fork so that all the salt was colored.

3. You probably thought about how we will dry salt that turned out. Everything is very Just: heat the oven to a temperature of 100 degrees and put our molds there for an hour salt.

You can also use a microwave oven, place the molds there for 5-10 minutes at maximum temperature.

If the salt is not dry, leave it in the oven until completely dry.

4. After getting it salt, you will see that the result is dry lumps.

Take a plastic bag and pour it into it salt.

Then on cutting board roll out salt until then until it becomes crumbly.

For each colors take a separate jar.

5. After yours are ready colors let's get to the fun part, drawing. Take the required jar or bottle. If you are using a jar with a narrow neck, you will need a funnel.

You fill the bottom of the bottle with a thin layer of white salt with a heap in the center. Then along the edges of the bottle you pour colored salt.

In order to draw anything in a bottle you will need a knitting needle. You carefully run it along the wall of the bottle.

If you took a jar with a wide neck, then you can pour sand around the edges of the tea spoon jar.

This is what happened to me. But I want to warn you so that your the salt is not mixed, you must compact the center with a knitting needle, salt will start to fail after you finish adding salt and close your jar.

P.S. Cover options may vary. They can be made from plasticine, salt dough, sealing wax, coated with nail polish, or decorated with shells.

I think you will like my idea! I wish you creative success!

Probably only the lazy don’t know about this technique. Very affordable way decorate the interior using a decorative bottle with layers of colored sand or fine salt poured into it, pre-painted. They need to be poured not just like that, but in a certain order and observing certain points. And how to do it correctly - in this master class. We will tell you about this using the example of a handmade craft “Sea bottle with salt and shells”. You can, using this technology, make a bottle with a different idea, not a marine one at all.

To work you will need:

a bottle made of light transparent glass of a beautiful shape;

sea or table salt;

blue and green ink (or bluing);

small shells;

some sawdust;

PVA glue;

a piece of gauze;

Progress

A small piece of gauze is placed on a plate, salt is poured on it and ink or blue is poured over it. Ink and bluing are not diluted, because after drying the salt turns several shades pale. Lifting the corners, the gauze is transferred to double layer newspapers and leave to dry in a warm place (possibly on a radiator).

The label is removed from the bottle, the vessel itself is washed and dried. A dry bottle is filled a quarter full with uncolored salt through a funnel. The container is tilted so that the salt moves to one side. Insert rolled paper into a tube, then a funnel, and pour dry blue or green salt in an even layer of 1 cm. Without returning the vessel to a vertical position, add ordinary light salt, filling the bottle 2/3 of the volume.

Then, placing the bottle vertically, colored salt is poured into it again. The thickness of the layer is chosen as desired. The remaining volume is filled with light salt.

Sawdust is mixed with PVA glue until a homogeneous mass with the consistency of thick sour cream is obtained. The shells are filled with adhesive mass so that it reaches the edges, but does not protrude outward. The bottom of the bottle is decorated by gluing shells to the glass with a solution. The smallest shells are used to cover the lid of the vessel.

You should take care of the material for creating a souvenir in advance. If you have the opportunity to purchase colored sand, it is better to take as many different varieties as possible. different colors and shades, they will be needed to create a colorful picture. If you have nowhere to buy ready-made sand, you can make it yourself. For these purposes, the most ordinary river sand, but it must be thoroughly rinsed and filtered so that there is no dirt or foreign matter.

Sand should be scattered into empty jars, filling them one third full. In a separate glass, thickly dilute the gouache paint of the desired shade and pour it into the jar. The same is done with the rest of the sand; “colored water” of a different shade is poured into each jar. The material must be allowed to soak in the paint for some time, after which the sand must be thoroughly dried.

To create more original shades, such as pearlescent, gold and silver, you need a different painting method. Each portion of sand is laid out on newspaper or other unnecessary paper, sprayed with art spray of the desired shade and allowed to dry. Until the sand is completely dry, it is advisable to stir it so that the grains of sand do not stick together. To obtain more vibrant colors and shades, you can also use color printer ink.

If it is difficult to get clean river sand in winter, you can use ordinary semolina instead. To add color to this material, you need to crush pastel sticks or colored pencil lead together with semolina and mix thoroughly so that the cereal is better colored. This is done with all portions of semolina; you just need to change the color of the pastel or pencil.

How to create paintings from colored sand

When the material is ready, you need to find a transparent glass bottle of an interesting shape. To create a beautiful picture, it is advisable to first practice laying out sand in colored waves; this will help develop the necessary dexterity and dexterity.

The material is poured into the bottle through a special funnel with a long neck; the shape and thickness of each colored strip can be adjusted using a thin long stick, for example, a stiff wire. It also compacts the sand. You can use drinking straws to add the desired color of sand inside the existing layer.

When the painting is ready, handle the bottle carefully; shaking may cause the painting to fall apart. The jar is sealed with a piece of fabric of the desired color tied in a knot; the material must first be moistened in glue. Instead of fabric, you can use regular cork the right size, the neck is tied with a ribbon for beauty.

A bottle of colored sand is a favorite souvenir of tourists who have been on vacation in Arab countries. But you don’t have to go far away to get this souvenir. You can try to create such a picture with your own hands.

Preparation of material

Before you start work, you should take care of the material - sand of various colors and shades. The richer and more varied the palette, the more beautiful the picture will be. Colored sand can be obtained in the following way: Sprinkle sand into jars, filling them about ¾ full. Then dilute gouache paints in jars of water, that is, make “colored water”, and fill the jars with sand with it. Just don't overdo it with water. Before starting to create a picture, the sand should be thoroughly dried.

There is another way to color sand - if you want to get an unusual shade - gold, silver or mother-of-pearl. Lay the sand on a newspaper and spray it with art spray from a distance; after drying the sand, stir it so that the grains of sand do not stick together. You can also use color printer ink to color sand. And instead of sand, you can try using semolina, which can also be painted in different colors. To do this, you can crush the lead of a colored pencil or pastel and grind it together with semolina.

Birth of a painting

The technology for making a sand painting is very simple. Sand of different colors is poured layer by layer into a beautifully shaped transparent glass bottle using a special funnel. The sequence, thickness and shape of these sand slides depends on your artistic intent. Sand mounds inside glass vessel are carefully compacted with a thick metal wire, with the help of which a picture is formed. To begin with, you can try to create a simple picture using a few primary colors, for example, simply pouring multi-colored layers of sand into smooth waves. After training, you can begin to create more complex plots.

Sleight of hand, imagination and colored sand - that's all you need to create such a picture. When the bottle is filled, it should be sealed with a cloth tied in a knot, previously soaked in glue.

And further: paintings made of colored sand in bottles require very careful handling: shaking the bottle may damage the design.

If you want to learn this original art, try, create, without fear that something will not work out the first time. Imagine how pleasant and interesting it is to create beauty with your own hands from ordinary sand. Such an unusual souvenir will certainly take its rightful place both in the home and in the heart of the person to whom you give it.

Relevance of the master class
In a boarding school, educators and teachers often have to participate in various kinds of competitions, teach children new ways of doing things with the help of cheap, available materials, to develop the creative abilities of students, and here new techniques for decorating products come to our aid, for example, such as creating paintings and crafts using the “sprinkling” technique.
In addition, this work helps calm the nerves, which is especially important for teachers, and provides aesthetic pleasure.
History of pouring technology. The art of creating paintings using the pouring technique arose in Buddhist monasteries, where from time immemorial they have been painting pictures of extraordinary beauty from crushed marble of different colors, the so-called Tibetan mandalas. The process of creating paintings on a plane is completely simple. First, the canvas is smeared with glue and then sprinkled with sand. The art of creating paintings from colored sand in bottles came to us from Arab countries. In Egypt or Jordan you can meet craftsmen who can create such souvenirs in 5 minutes using ordinary sand and a thin stick.
Mounds is a term that has appeared on websites about crafts relatively recently. This is the name given to transparent vessels (beautiful jars and bottles) filled with bulk materials. Most often they are filled with tinted dried gouache salt. The use of salt for these purposes may be due to the fact that it has long been used as a talisman. But there are other options (sand, cereals, grains). This decoration is created in the color scheme that suits your interior. At the same time, you can think about a gift for your loved ones.

Materials and tools:
For painting - fine salt, gouache paints, plastic bags.
For work: Material: clean dry bottle, containers with colored salt.
Tools: funnel, wooden skewers, stacks, knitting needles, scissors, glue.

Demonstration of how to color salt(you need to dilute the colored gouache with water and pour it into a plastic bag with salt, shake, knead with your hands to stain and dry (you can use a radiator or in the oven)). You need to prepare the salt in advance, each color in a separate bag.
Techniques for pouring salt into a bottle:

The simplest mound is created from sequentially poured layers of salt of different colors. If the funnel is located in the center of the bottle, the layer thickness will be the same throughout the entire circumference (a). To change the thickness of the layer, you can tilt the funnel while pouring (b) or use a funnel with a curved “spout” (c):
Picking up color scheme, as well as options for pouring layers, you can get various unique designs. To practice your skills, it is better to use a small glass with straight and smooth walls.
Features of creating embankments:
filling the middle of the dish;
salt compaction;
sealing the drawing after finishing work.
In the finished work, only the layer of salt adjacent to the glass is visible, so the “middle” can be filled with another salt, white or leftover after unsuccessful attempts. If the middle is filled, the drawing will not crumble.

Technology for making crafts.

Step 1. Using a funnel, pour 2-3 layers of colored salt into the bottle.

Step 2. We form a “peak” pattern with a wooden skewer. Place the knitting needle over top layer salt at an angle of 20-30 degrees to the glass. We lower the knitting needle along the glass with the tip down. The side surface of the knitting needle will push some of the salt inward, and salt will pour in its place from above upper layers. Upon reaching required depth the knitting needle must be taken inward to the center and raised up through the middle.

Step 3. Continue adding colored salt. Turning the bottle under different angles, we form a “mountain” pattern.

Step 4. Add the remaining layers. We compact the salt using a skewer, filling the middle with salt. It is important that the knitting needle moves along the axis of the bottle and in no case touches the walls!

Step 5. Add salt to the top of the bottle and tamp it down. Now you can proceed to sealing the bulk. This will prevent salt from spilling out if you accidentally open the bottle. You can use PVA glue. After drying, it forms an elastic plug, which can be easily removed in case of emergency. The only caveat: moisture from the glue gets into the salt and erodes the paint to a certain depth (about 1 cm).

Step 6. We close the bottle. The cork can be disguised with a piece of fabric and tied with a rope with beads.
