Vibration mounts for wilo pumps. Vibration damping support

Up to 90% of failure problems of modern high-quality pumps V short term due to installation and commissioning errors. In this case, the pumps fail within 2-4 months from the date of launch. Let's look at these errors using the example of cantilever-type pumps. These pumps are considered classics of pumping production and yet with their installation and commissioning errors are the most common.

In this publication we will look at three of the most common reasons Pump breakdowns due to improper installation:

  • Errors in the manufacture of the foundation
  • Errors in installing vibration damping elements
  • Incorrect alignment of pump and motor shafts

When considering installation errors, we will use the experience of the Service Center specialists, Regulatory documentation pump manufacturer and the Service database regarding calls to service specialists at real sites.

Here's a sample typical mistake installation cantilever pump, V in this case Grundfos:

Places of installation errors that are immediately visible are circled:

  • The foundation does not meet installation requirements
  • Vibration inserts are not installed correctly

Let's read what the manufacturer Grundfos says about vibration inserts in the installation instructions:

Below, from the installation instructions, is a diagram of the pump with rules for installing the vibration insert.

The picture clearly shows how it is installed vibration insert. The one and a half distance from the pump at both ends is clearly visible. The diagram clearly shows a concrete foundation under which vibration damping supports are installed.

Now let's look at another type of error that led to pump failure. In this case, the pumps did not have a foundation, vibration supports were installed incorrectly, alignment was not performed, and commissioning was not carried out, which should have revealed all this before the equipment was put into operation.

The foundation is also simple and clear regulatory requirements pump manufacturer:

But what happens when, during installation and commissioning, the pump and motor shafts are not ALIGNED

Here are the requirements for aligning pump shafts:

ATTENTION! All the pumps shown in the photo failed in a short period of time: from several days to several months. All of them were under official warranty service. However, due to non-compliance with the installation rules of the pumps recommended by the manufacturer, the warranty was canceled and repairs were carried out by the operating organization on a paid basis!

Vibration supports for refrigeration equipment

In industrial refrigeration technology, vibration mounts are used to reduce the level of vibration transmitted from a refrigeration unit, chiller, multi-compressor station or compressor to the foundation, floor or supporting frame structure. Vibration mounts of this type are installed under the unit, the vibrations from which need to be reduced. As a rule, the need to install vibration supports arises when used as part of a refrigeration unit or multi-compressor station. piston compressors. Vibration mounts for refrigeration equipment are available in two main types:

for indoor installation: BWZ type B, NSV type VHB, VM-5000.

for outdoor installation: BWZ type MP, NSV type VM-3000, SRM.

The choice of vibration support model is made based on the maximum permissible load(in kg) to the vibration support specified in technical specifications manufacturer. In addition, to achieve the best result in reducing vibrations in each specific case, it is recommended to test several supports with different hardnesses. The PHS company supplies vibration supports from two well-known global manufacturers: BWZ-Schwingungs-Technik (Germany) and NSV (South Korea).

Hydraulic accumulator for pumps

The design of the hydraulic accumulator is similar to an expansion tank and is a tank divided by an elastic and waterproof membrane into two containers. One container is filled with air or a nitrogen-containing gas mixture under low pressure, and water flows into the other. The purpose, operating conditions and functions of the expansion tank and hydraulic accumulator are different. There is also a difference in the design of these tanks. Structurally, hydraulic accumulators and expansion tanks differ in location... read more >

Electrical cabinet for control and protection of pumps

An electrical cabinet (or switchboard) is a control device capable of controlling one standard pump or several. In addition, the electrical cabinet serves to protect pumps from “dry running” and from faults in the electrical network (short circuit, phase loss, voltage drop, etc.). Switchboard equipped with terminals for connecting monitoring and control devices (level, humidity and temperature sensors), as well as general... read more >

Alarm for drain pump panels

The alarm kit consists of a small plastic box with a cable input and a 12 V siren direct current and a red signal LED. The alarm reacts if the water volume exceeds the maximum permissible level. In this case, the signal LED lights up and the alarm emits a long sound. The active phase of the alarm continues until the error is turned off or corrected.

Vibration damping supports of correct design are found in 10-15% of cases of their installation. Although the manufacturer's recommendations apply to pumps with a motor power greater than 11 kW, vibration and operating noise pumping unit Often you have to clean at lower capacities.

Powerful pumps vibrate quite noticeably during operation. The acoustic and mechanical components of pump vibration are often the cause of building noise and vibrations and hums. To solve these problems, in particular, vibration inserts on pipelines and vibration supports for pumps are used.

Vibration and noise of pumps:

  • Noise and vibration are generated as a result of the rotation of the moving elements of the engine and pump, as well as the movement of working fluid through pipelines.
  • In order to ensure optimal performance pump and to minimize noise and vibration, it is necessary to use vibration inserts and vibration-damping supports.

Let's look at what the manufacturer Grundfos says in the installation instructions regarding vibration damping mounts (vibration mounts):

And here is a diagram of the pump with correctly installed vibration damping supports.

Figure 25 clearly shows the concrete foundation under which vibration damping supports are installed. Vibration inserts are also clearly visible how to install.

ATTENTION! All the pumps shown in the photo failed in a short period of time: from several days to several months. All of them were under official warranty service. However, due to non-compliance with the installation rules of the pumps recommended by the manufacturer, the warranty was canceled and repairs were carried out by the operating organization on a paid basis!

If you have questions or doubts about the correct installation or commissioning of the equipment, contact the Service Center and clarify all the necessary information.

The need to use vibration inserts when connecting units to the pipeline is due to safety measures to prevent factors that destroy various network elements or lead to increased level noise, and for purposes galvanic isolation of the pipeline and protection of equipment from destructive mechanical impact. In addition, the use of such devices is necessary in earthquake-prone areas and when there is a danger of movement of the soil on which the equipment is installed, provided that the displacement does not exceed permissible values (at higher loads it is more advisable to use special devices based on bellows compensators). The requirements of SNiP 14.15 state: “At the inputs in front of the measuring devices, as well as at the points where pipelines are connected to pumps and tanks, it is necessary to provide flexible connections that allow angular and longitudinal movements of the ends of the pipelines.” Flexible pump inserts must be installed when operating pumps with motors greater than 11kW (lower motors may also cause unwanted noise and vibration).
The rotation of the motor and pump rotors, as well as the conductive fluid in the pipeline, cause noise and vibration.
The degree of impact on equipment and the surrounding area depends on how correctly the calculations were made and the state of the remaining elements of the system. The most effective way to dampen vibration and reduce noise levels is to use vibration supports on the base plate of the units and connect the pipes to the pipeline through rubber vibration inserts. This allows you to maintain stable operation of the pumps, reduce the load on fragile cast-iron structural elements, and also minimize vibration and noise. In addition, installing compressors and pumps on vibration supports without using rubber inserts on the suction and pressure pipes leads to the equipment hanging on the flanges and, as a result, destruction of the housing of the units and pipeline fasteners. Vibration compensators for pumps help protect equipment and pipelines from vibration, as well as prevent system resonance. Depending on the material of the flow part, a vibration insert for the pump can be used in systems transporting hot and
cold water
