Structurally The IT-M Micro indicator consists of housing and sensor block. The connection of the sensor block to the housing is permanent, using a cable. The indicator housing contains: a measurement and indication module and a battery unit, consisting of a battery and a battery protection module. The sensor block contains the TCD.

Operating principle of the IT-M Micro leak detector indicator

The primary converter in the sensor unit is TCD, the operating principle of which is based on the oxidation of flammable gas on the surface of the catalyst, electrically heated to a temperature of 450 to 550 °C. Oxidation leads to an increase in the temperature of the sensitive element, proportional to the content of the detected flammable gas.

Structurally, the sensor consists of two sensitive elements installed close to each other, one of the elements is working, and the second is comparative. The working and comparative sensing elements are electrically similar to each other, but the comparative sensing element does not change its temperature and, therefore, its electrical resistance when in contact with flammable gas.

The operation of a thermochemical sensor (TCS) is based onthermochemical principle , in which the thermal effect of combustion of flammable gases and vapors on the catalytically active surface of the measuring sensitive element (MSE) is determined.

To compensate for the influence of environmental conditions, the TCD contains a catalytically passive comparative sensing element (CSE).

According to the functional diagram of the indicator, it is powered by a battery consisting of four batteries.

The supply voltage from the battery pack (AB) is supplied to the measuring board through the spark protection device (IS).

The indicator is turned on using an electronic on-off circuit.

Sensing elements (SSE and ISE) of the TCD are included in a bridge circuit powered by a voltage source.

The central processing unit (CPU) turns on the power to the bridge circuit and controls the flow of current through the TCD (monitoring the break of the TCD).

The signal taken from the measuring bridge is amplified by a differential amplifier (DA) and fed to an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), which also receives voltages proportional to the current flowing through the TCD and the battery voltage.

The CPU also turns on the TCD, changes the remote control gain depending on the concentration (setting the background), interrogates the control and power buttons, as well as controls the sound and light signaling device.

The indicator has an "X" after the explosion protection marking, indicating special conditions to ensure safety during operation.

The explosion protection of the TCD is ensured by enclosing its sensitive elements in an explosion-proof shell.

The “explosion-proof enclosure” level of explosion protection is achieved by enclosing the TCD in a glass made of atomized bronze powder and placing the sensor in a protective housing made of stainless steel.

The strength of the shell is checked during the manufacture of the sensor.

The connection of the glass to the base of the sensor is made by gluing with an epoxy compound.

The integrity of the batteries, their connections to each other, and the spark protection board is ensured by placing the batteries in a separate box in the indicator housing.

Intrinsic safety of the indicator's electrical circuits is achieved by limiting the voltage and current in its electrical circuits to intrinsically safe values.
