DIY ribbon bouquet for a wedding. DIY artificial bridal bouquet made from ribbons

The wedding bouquet is one of the important details in the stylish image of the bride. The classic shape of a wedding bouquet is a ball. It is the bouquet-ball of satin roses for the bride that we will make in this master class.

How to make such an original wedding bouquet from ribbons with your own hands?

For a bouquet of satin ribbons we will need:

  • satin ribbons of different colors, 2 and 6 centimeters wide
  • white organza ribbon 7-10 centimeters wide
  • various beads matching and complementing our ribbons
  • pins with beads at the end
  • glue “Moment”, newspaper, twine
  • wooden stick with a diameter of 2 centimeters and a length of 15-20 centimeters
  • thick fabric
  • thread, needle, scissors
  • compass, pencil, ruler.

Detailed master class: DIY ribbon bouquet

Bouquet of satin ribbons: step 1

So, first we need to make the base of our bouquet from ribbons. We will attach all our satin ribbon flowers to it.

We make a round base for a bouquet of satin ribbons:

  1. You need to take a newspaper and crumple it into a ball, the diameter of which will be about 10 centimeters
  2. We wrap our ball with twine, trying to maintain the correct shape.
  3. Now in our ball we make a recess under our wooden stick and pour glue into it
  4. We install the future handle of our bouquet and let the glue set
  5. We also wrap the stick with twine
  6. We cover the free end of our handle with a piece of satin ribbon of a soft green color.
  7. We wrap the entire handle with a satin ribbon of the same color

The basis for our bouquet of satin ribbons is ready, now let's start making flowers.

This is the basis for a bouquet of ribbons you should get:

We will need to make three types of different flowers from ribbons and organza for the bouquet.

Bouquet of satin ribbons: step 2

Flower of the first type for a bouquet of satin ribbons:

We begin to collect our first flower from a satin ribbon for a wedding bouquet.

Choose the color of the satin ribbon to suit your taste or the one that best suits.

Do-it-yourself bouquet of satin ribbons: making the first type of rose

  1. On thick fabric we draw circles with a diameter of 4-3 centimeters. In each we draw a small segment.
  2. We cut out the circle and cut a segment along one side, sew it together. The result will be a low cone.
  3. We take a ribbon 2 centimeters wide, bend the edge and sew it with a square in the center of our cone
  4. We wrap the tape at an angle to the opposite corner of the square as in the picture and sew it
  5. Next, we perform the same action several more times, gradually increasing the angle of rotation of the tape.

Thus, we have assembled our rose from the first type of satin ribbon, now we will make the next type of satin roses.

Our first satin rose for a ribbon bouquet is ready!

Bouquet of satin ribbons: step 3

We make a flower for a bouquet from satin ribbons of the second type:

  1. Fold the edge of the tape 4-5 centimeters wide as in the photo twice 3-4 mm each
  2. Fold the lengthwise part of the tape in half widthwise at a slight angle.
  3. Next we wrap the bent part
  4. We wrap the tape at an angle of 30 degrees outward as in the photo. Wrap around again
  5. Thus we wrap the tape to the end
  6. We sew our flower from ribbon so that the petals do not fall apart

Bouquet of satin ribbons: step 4

We collect our flowers from satin ribbons into a composition

Now we will create a single composition - a bouquet of ribbons using our satin roses. We will attach the satin roses to the base of the bouquet with decorative pins with beads at the end. The beads will have two functions: mounting and decorative.

We arrange the roses from satin ribbons evenly, attach them with pins and hide them in the petals.

We place the beads where there is space not occupied by flowers, and secure them in a similar way. The pins attach very well to the newspaper ball and hold our roses.

Bouquet of satin ribbons: step 5

Making chrysanthemums from organza to decorate a bouquet

To add lightness to our composition, we will make several chrysanthemums from organza:

  1. Cut an organza ribbon 7 centimeters wide and about 330 centimeters long.
  2. Fold it in half lengthwise, place a seam along the folded side and assemble our ribbon
  3. It turns out to be a very airy flower
  4. We fasten it with pins to the base

I greet everyone gathered on my blog on this sunny (or maybe not so sunny) day. If you want to learn how to make cool flowers from ribbons, then I highly recommend reading this article to the end.

Flowers made from satin (and other) ribbons can be used both to decorate gift packaging and as a gift itself.

Especially if you collect such flowers in an elegant bouquet.

The most amazing thing is that sometimes the most beautiful of these plants are so easy to make with your own hands that it takes 10-15 minutes even for a beginner (trust my experience).

Recently I have been making different flowers quite often and now I will share with you excellent master classes on making them

DIY flowers made from satin ribbons

I'll show you 15 cool (and easy) ways to create amazing flowers. You can “take” each of the photos from the master classes with you by copying the corresponding image.

Let's start with, perhaps, the most romantic and popular plants among girls - roses.

Ribbon roses

Stop buying expensive store-bought roses! Let's learn how to make them ourselves and save the lion's share of the budget.

We will have several roses today. The first of these is a rose, obtained by folding triangles as you go. To make it, prepare a piece of ribbon at least 2 cm wide and at least 50 cm long.

Unblown

Form a center by bending one end as in the photo. Twist and secure.

twisted rose

In terms of the method of creation, it vaguely resembles the previous one (at least the beginning). After forming the center, alternately turn the ribbon, twisting it and applying layer by layer. Secure at the end.

Kanzashi

The peculiarity of this rose is that all its petals are processed separately.

From braid

Finally, a rose, which is obtained by intertwining two wavy ribbons. After weaving, they need to be swept along the edge so that they do not fall apart. And then just roll it up.

Flowers from kanzashi ribbons

In general, kanzashi is originally a “hair decoration” from Japanese. It dates back to the times of geishas, who were distinguished, among other things, by their ability to skillfully do needlework.

Kanzashi has two petal shapes - round and pointed. The rest are already subspecies. So all flowers, to some extent, can be attributed to this type of art.

Hibiscus

An exotic guest, for which you will need a wide ribbon (about 5 cm wide), a base and stamens.

Just a flower with 5 petals

To make pointed elements, sew the center. Fold the future petal in half and hem it from the inside. Prepare 5 pieces, then string them on a thread. Decorate the middle.

Bell

For the bell, prepare the petals according to the photo. To roll them, fold the petals with their tall, straight edges facing each other and sew around the edge (glue the top a little). Pull the thread, assemble the resulting parts, decorating with stamens or beads.

Semitsvetik

For it you need to prepare 7-9 petals using the classic method used in kanzashi. Then all the petals are collected on a thread and, if necessary, glued together on the sides.

Aster

Just a dream, not a flower in terms of ease of execution. To make an aster, take a ribbon and sew a line of zig-zag running stitches across the entire width. Pull, roll. All

Peony

For the peony, take three ribbons: two for the petals, one for the green leaf.

Please note that the peony consists of two parts - a more closed bud and opening petals.

Master classes on colors in video format

Not everyone likes to study photographs, so I have prepared several flower-making tutorials for you in video format.

Bridal bouquets made of artificial materials have burst into modern wedding fashion. They are so diverse that any bride can choose a bouquet that suits her character and image. They are developed by wonderful designers from brooches, buttons, and ribbons. Such a delicate bouquet, collected from flowers made from satin ribbons, can be made from ribbons as a gift to the bride, or for a romantic decoration of any celebrations, shown in this master class.

Necessary materials for this romantic bouquet:

  • satin ribbons in several matching shades
  • bouquet handle sticks
  • a small funnel for the base of the bouquet. (In the photo it is purchased, but you can make it out of cardboard. Next you will see that lace is glued to it).
  • lace
  • hot glue
  • pearl beads
  • ready-made stamens (sold in handicraft stores, that’s what they call stamens)
  • wire
  • wire cutters
  • scissors and needles and threads.
  • floral base (if available)

If you have a floral base for a bouquet, then you can skip the first part of the photo guide:

For the handle of the bouquet holder, take a stick of suitable diameter. If you do not have a suitable stick, then we will glue it together from several kebabs skewers or other suitable sticks. Make the length about 10-12 cm.

Photo master class on a bouquet of ribbons in all details:

Here's a bare base for a bouquet. A pen and a ball in a funnel. A lace frill is glued to the edge of the funnel. Now she is ready to pin flowers on her. And the flowers themselves are made of satin ribbons.

First we will make the outer petals using pins and thread with a needle.

This is what the outer rim should look like, it’s empty inside. Bye.

We tie knots from small pieces of ribbon - these will be the centers for the flowers along the edge of the bouquet.

From the finished stamens we make the second version of the centers for the buds. The photo shows that the stamens are folded in half.

We cut off excess.

We carefully insert the centers into the corolla of the flower, fill them with hot glue, and glue them onto the base ball. Quick and easy: in this case there is no need to sew on the centers separately.

This is what it should look like - this is the first row of flowers.

Flowers that are lighter and have pearlescent stamens are glued to the very top of the bouquet.

We make leaves from green ribbon and glue them where it will look nice.

Add beads and sparkles. Also for glue. All with hot glue.

Well, you can’t forget to decorate the handle.

Wedding fashion in 2013 offers brides a greater choice of not only the usual fluffy dresses, but also unconventional outfits. These include tight-fitting dresses in the style of outfits of the 30s, stylization of the dresses of Disney princesses, and a weightless outfit of a forest nymph, or, on the contrary, a tight-fitting, chic cocoon dress. Any bride will find something to suit her character and personality.

And finally, a few rules related to the wedding bouquet that you need to remember:

  • It is important for the bride to hold the wedding bouquet correctly in her hands. Especially for photography. Often the bride holds it almost on the chest line, revealing at the same time the handle of the bouquet holder, which is what we see in wedding photographs.
  • The bride's bouquet should be at waist level, or slightly lower - on the hip. You don't have to try to keep it strictly vertical. You can tilt it slightly and turn it towards the audience. In this case, both in the photo and in the memory of everyone present, he will be captured in the most beautiful form.
  • Important! The bride's wedding bouquet must be combined with the groom's boutonniere, as well as the groom's witness and friends (if you are preparing boutonnieres for them). Also, the bouquet should be combined with the flowers that decorate the newlywed’s hairstyle, in composition and style. It is better if they are created by the same florist.

The bride's bouquet is one of the most important and beautiful attributes of the celebration. Its presentation by the groom symbolizes confirmation of the marriage proposal itself, which was made long before the wedding day. The bride does not let go of the flowers throughout the entire holiday, and then, according to tradition, throws them to her unmarried friends. However, not everyone wants to part with a floral work of art. To do this, you can make a small duplicate bouquet from satin ribbons, repeating the original one or contrasting with it.

Variety of ideas

There are many different materials for making flower arrangements: thin lace, colored paper, polymer clay and many other options. However, satin ribbons have long been and remain the most popular material. This is due to the fact that dense shiny fabric has many advantages.

  • The material is inexpensive, but at the same time it is durable and can not lose its appearance for decades.
  • Outwardly, satin resembles natural silk, but holds its shape better, does not wrinkle and does not accumulate dust.
  • Goes well with various decorative elements, such as beads, rhinestones and embroidery. In addition, decorative patterns, for example, Arabic or Slavic patterns, can also be applied to the ribbons themselves. Flowers made from such ribbons will look very original.
  • Artificial flowers will not wither by the end of the holiday even in the most severe frost or heat. They will not stain the bride’s snow-white dress with pollen or juice and will not harm allergy sufferers.

From tapes You can make a large number of different colors. For example, classic roses or peonies, multi-colored gerberas, fluffy chrysanthemums and asters or laconic hyacinths will be appropriate. There are many different techniques for making wedding bouquets from ribbons.

Kanzashi. Today, kanzashi style bouquets are the most popular option for weddings. This technique came from the east - in Japan, the hairstyles of noble women were decorated with such flowers. The petals of these artificial flowers are so neat that you want to touch them and look at every detail of the bouquet separately.

The technique itself is not too complicated, and even a beginner can handle it, but this work is long and very painstaking. Each petal is made from a separate piece of tape, and only after all the petals are ready can one flower be assembled. The edges of the petals can be either sharp and elongated, or rounded and even widening towards the ends.

Flat flowers. These ribbon roses are perfect for a topiary bouquet on a long thin stem. They are made from a long solid ribbon, folded in a certain way and sewn onto a small backing made of burlap, soft felt or even cardboard. Such compositions made of ribbons in pastel shades look very gentle and touching in the hands of the bride.

Lush flowers. Lush flowers without individual petals can be made using one ribbon and thread with a needle. To do this, just fold the satin fabric lengthwise and sew it with long stitches along the edge. After this, you need to carefully pull the free edge of the thread, collecting the ribbon with beautiful flounces and twisting it into a spiral. For greater structure, you can twist the ribbon along the axis - this will give the flower greater density and create a unique pattern.

Melted petals. Bouquets of peonies collected using melted pieces of satin ribbon look amazing. This can be done either with a regular lighter or with the flame of a candle or gas stove. The finished petals are collected into a tight or blossoming bud and combined into one large composition. With some skill, you can collect artificial bouquets that even from a distance of two steps cannot be distinguished from real ones. Moreover, such a bouquet can stand in a vase not for two days, but for several years.

Flowers made of thin ribbons. From thin ribbons, the width of which does not exceed a centimeter, you can make lush chrysanthemums or asters. To do this, just wrap a long ribbon around the fingers of your palm, tie it in the middle with a small thread or rope and cut the loops with scissors. The fluffy ball, pressed on the sides by the same neighbors, looks very similar to garden flowers growing in dachas and vegetable gardens. With the right color combination with roses or peonies from large ribbons, even such simple bouquets will become a cute decoration for the celebration.

Color and texture

In order for a bouquet of artificial flowers to better fit into the format of the celebration, it is necessary to choose the right colors and size of the buds. In order for the bouquet to match the bride’s dress, it is necessary to take into account its texture. The airier and lighter the outfit, the more delicate and miniature the flowers of the bouquet should be.

An excellent solution would be to do it in the shade of the dress or decorative elements. If you want to add brightness to a monochrome outfit, then you need to select ribbons of the same color as the design of the entire event. Most often, 2-3 shades are chosen in which to decorate the hall and decorate tables. If the color scheme of the bouquet matches them, then the whole composition will look more complete and thoughtful.

Most often, pastel and delicate colors are used for wedding decoration. Solo, as usual, is white and all its shades. Dilutes the composition with blue, pink, lavender and pistachio. However, if desired, you can add bright accents in the form of red, purple or bright green. Perhaps you should just give up the color black, which is traditionally considered a shade of mourning, so it has no place at such a joyful event.

Some balance should be maintained in the girl’s jewelry and accessories. If the bride's dress and hair sparkle with pearls and stones, you should not decorate the bouquet with them - it will look pretentious and overloaded. On the contrary, a laconic image is well emphasized by flowers with rhinestones and brooches. In addition, wedding stylists advise leaving elongated bouquets for girls, and for older ladies to opt for a spherical shape.

Necessary materials

Of course, each technique will require its own set of tools, since they differ in many ways. Nevertheless, there is a certain basic set that you cannot do without in any case.

  • A foam ball or microphone with a floral sponge, which can be purchased at a flower shop. You can replace it with plastic, crumpled and glued newspapers, or thick rope rolled into a ball.
  • Thick cardboard for the pen. You can take a ready-made cardboard tube that is left over from foil or cling film after using it in the kitchen.
  • Satin ribbons of the required colors and patterns. It is best to take them with a reserve to practice making buds. Atlas consumption for each technique may vary greatly.
  • Glue gun, which can be purchased at any craft store or ordered online.
  • Stapler, pins, needle, scissors.
  • Threads in the color of ribbons and contrasting shades.
  • Various decorative beads and stones.

To make peonies from melted ribbons or Japanese-style flowers, you will have to additionally install a candle or burner on which pieces of ribbon will melt. Before you start needlework, you should organize a clean free space. It’s best to do this at your desk or counter, so you can leave the unfinished bouquet and return to assembling it a little later.

Step-by-step production

Before you start making a satin bouquet, you should study several master classes on the technique that was chosen and practice making the flowers themselves. All other work will not take much time and is carried out step by step according to short instructions.

Step 1. Making the base

First of all, prepare the base on which the buds and decor will be attached. If you buy a ready-made ball made of plastic or foam, then it is simply connected to a long cardboard handle. If you need to make the ball yourself, you can crumple up several sheets of newspaper and wrap them tightly with rope. This homemade ball is also attached to a cardboard handle using a glue gun.

To hide a cardboard tube, you need to wrap it with satin ribbon and carefully glue the ends, wrapping them inside the tube. In order to hide the junction and the not very aesthetic bottom of the foam sphere, a lace or satin “skirt” is glued to the junction of it with the tube. Most often it is done to match the color of the bouquet handle.

Step 2. Making flowers

The easiest way to make beautiful flowers is the voluminous bud technique. To do this, take a wide satin ribbon and fold it in half with the front side up. Using a needle and thread, such a ribbon is stitched along the edge, after which it is tightened with large gathers and folded into a small bud. To prevent such a bud from falling apart, the ribbons are sewn together at the base with several stitches.

Step 3. Attaching flowers

In order for the satin bouquet to withstand all the active movements of the bride, her photo shoot, dance and, finally, flying into the hands of her friends, the flowers must be well secured to foam or rope. To do this, a small safety pin with a head color matching the color of the ribbon is stuck into their core. The sharp edge of the pin, coming out from the underside of the bud, is firmly and deeply stuck into the base. Additionally, the joint is treated with a glue gun. A well-made bouquet will not fall apart in the hands of the bride and will delight her throughout the celebration.

Wedding fashion does not stand still and bouquets of fresh flowers are increasingly being replaced by a variety of artificial compositions, in particular, from satin, lace and guipure ribbons. This accessory has many advantages. It definitely won’t wither in the heat, won’t freeze in the harsh winter, and you can throw it to your girlfriends without fear, because the fabric is much stronger than fragile petals. In addition, bouquets of ribbons are a real salvation for allergy sufferers who cannot tolerate strong odors.

To make the accessory worthy of the most luxurious wedding, you need to carefully choose a craftsman who will create the composition you need, as well as the color, shape and materials used.

If you wish, you can make a bouquet of ribbons yourself, especially if the bride is interested in needlework. This will not only save money, but also create a unique composition that expresses the specifics of your couple and carries a piece of the soul.

Before making a wedding bouquet, it is better to practice in advance on small tasks, for example, to make a duplicate bouquet, which you will leave to the girlfriend who caught it.

Advice! Be sure to use high-quality, odorless glue, carefully sew or otherwise secure all elements so that the accessory does not fall apart at the most inopportune moment.

Matching your wedding style

It is important that the bouquet matches the color and style of the wedding theme:

  • Celebrations close to nature in style country, rustic or eco look strange with such an accessory;
  • But at a vintage, fantasy wedding or shabby chic style, such an exquisite accessory looks quite appropriate;
  • Since well-made satin flowers cannot be distinguished from natural flowers at first glance, a similar solution is possible even for a classic wedding. Only the bouquet itself should be made as natural as possible.

The symbolism of a particular tone is no less important, because it is also a talisman designed to set the future family in the right mood, to bring happiness, love and harmony.

Let's take a closer look at several of the most common color schemes for fabric compositions.

White

A white bouquet speaks of innocence, purity, and the beginning of a new family life. This is a shade of sublime and bright love. But be careful when using it in a fabric bouquet, especially if your dress is also satin. The accessory will simply blend in with the outfit in the photographs.

Important! The pastel palette looks good in the hands of blondes at classic or vintage weddings.

Another shade of white is acceptable as a compromise solution, but it is important to choose it carefully, otherwise a darker item will be visually untidy. However, there is always an option with a colored outfit - and in this case, a white bouquet is undoubtedly irreplaceable. This combination looks especially sensual at a retro wedding if the bride has a dark dress.

Other pastel colors – pink, peach, powder – look cute and romantic in a bouquet of ribbons. Such a choice symbolizes caring attitude towards each other, tender love, trust.

Color

An interesting solution is a green bouquet of ribbons, both light, light green, lime, and rich coniferous. Such shades speak of stability, prosperity and calm cheerfulness of the young.

Yellow has long been considered an unsuitable shade for a wedding, but modern designers are increasingly abandoning this prejudice, celebrating the warm, sunny tone that speaks of fun and wealth.

If you want elegance, then choose precious gold, silver or bronze. They create a composition that is both luxurious and avant-garde.

It is not at all necessary to remain in monochrome; feel free to combine both different pure colors (but no more than three) and shades of one leading color. Purple with lilac, blue with white, mint with pink - there are many variations, so any bride will definitely be able to choose something to her taste.

Turquoise

The fabulous shade of turquoise is not so widespread in nature, but with the help of satin ribbons you can easily create even roses of a similar tone.

The turquoise color is primarily interpreted as mutual gratitude for the fact that the newlyweds met each other. Another meaning is well-being and calm, peaceful happiness.

Similar composition:

  • wonderfully suits young brides, making them even more touching;
  • refreshes hot food quite well;
  • looks magical on spring, even.

Red

Red color means passion, boiling feelings, impossible attraction. This bouquet stands out brightly and contrastingly against the background of a snow-white outfit, creating the necessary accent. This is not an accessory for a princess, but for a queen, sensual and very elegant.

The darker the shade, the more nobility is implied in the interpretation, while light ones, for example, scarlet, speak of the energy of the one who chose it.

Flaming tones suit hot brunettes best, but young ladies with a different hair color can choose a shade from the red palette to suit their color type.

Blue

Blue is the shade of calm people who know what they want and confidently move towards this goal. Stability, harmony and fidelity - what could be better for a wedding combination?

Advice! The color will perfectly highlight a snow-white dress, but to make the look complete, add another accessory of the same shade - shadows, a hairpin, jewelry, shoes.

Blue is often used on sea, winter and occasions, creating the necessary depth and fitting perfectly into the overall design of the celebration. This is not the most classic option, but in a decent frame it looks great.

Blue

Blue color is interpreted as trust, nobility and purity of thoughts. More delicate than blue, it will fit wonderfully into both classic and traditional styles, making the bride’s image airy and romantic.

Blue goes well with yellow, pink, blue and white, but even in its pure form it looks decent. It is suitable for both very young brides and older women, especially those with blue eyes.

Decor

Artificial flowers, unlike real ones, do not have strict requirements for decoration - satin petals will not begin to wither from glue, needles or pins.

Most often for buds created from ribbons:

  • add a variety of beads, for example, pearls on a wire in the center of each flower;
  • no less rhinestones and decorative pendants are popular, echoing the theme of the wedding;
  • vintage bouquet will be decorated small bird cages;
  • composition in shabby chic style - elegant brooches.

The transition to the leg is often decorated with a lace skirt, and the handle itself is decorated with gold cord, fabric of a different texture, and sparkles. The main thing is that nothing prevents you from holding the bouquet.

DIY rose composition

Most often, brides choose noble classic roses as artificial flowers, especially since satin allows you to create them in any color.

There are dozens of tutorials on how to make rosebuds, but we have chosen the easiest one for you, which results in elegant flowers.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Cut the satin ribbon into equal rectangles about 8 cm long - the wider they are, the larger the final petals will be. One rose requires an average of 25 blanks.
  2. Burn all cut areas with a lighter. so that the flowers retain their original appearance for as long as possible. If the pieces are very small, then it is better to hold them not with your fingers, but with tweezers.
  3. In each petal, bend two corners located diagonally along the entire length of the rectangle and sew with a machine.
  4. Roll one of the petals into a tube and tighten it with threads from below - this will be the middle of our rose.
  5. Now wrap the tube with the remaining petals one at a time, carefully sewing each one to the center.

The rose is ready, you can sew it to the base of the bouquet, glue it with a gun or secure it with a pin with a pearl head.

Step by step video

A wedding bouquet made of satin ribbons is an excellent alternative to compositions made from fresh flowers. An airy, luxurious bouquet will never wither, and will delight its owner with its beauty for many years. For those who want to make this outlandish thing with their own hands, video:

Fresh flowers are beautiful and tender, but short-lived. That is why more and more brides are choosing a bouquet of satin ribbons.

Conclusion

A bouquet of ribbons is an excellent option not only for a harsh winter, but also for those who want to bring exquisite notes of unusualness to their celebration. Durability, endurance and a huge number of unexpected shades are captivating an increasing number of brides. And the opportunity to add elegant decor from brooches, pearls and rhinestones, without fear of damaging the petals, adds advantages to this fabulous option. The most important thing is that any bride can make such a bouquet on her own, putting a piece of her soul into the composition.
